Robert Wilburn Workman
1918-2007
MOREHEAD - Robert Wilburn Workman, age 89, of Dry Creek Road, Clearfield, Kentucky, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 27, 2007, at his residence.
He was born June 9, 1918, in Rowan County, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Nathan and Viola Skaggs Workman. He married
Ruth Crose on June 6, 1936. His working career extended over half a century. He worked for General Refractories (clay mines) for eight years, Lee Clay Products Co. for 27 years, Ruth Paving Company for two years, and the Kentucky State Highway Department for eight years. He retired but went back to work for Matt Dykes Tobacco Warehouse for four seasons and Eastern Kentucky Tobacco Warehouse for four seasons. He was also an avid farmer all his life. He was a Kentucky Colonel, a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Slab Camp Christian Church.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Harlan Workman, Allie Workman, Clyde Workman, and Herman Workman; one sister, Gertrude Hall; two sons, Lionel Workman (killed in Vietnam) and Daniel Workman; one daughter, Shurlene Workman; and four grandchildren.
Robert is survived by Ruth, his wife of 71 years; one daughter, Pauline and husband Wilburn Baldridge of Morehead, Kentucky; three sons, Denzil and wife Sue Workman of Morehead, Kentucky, Clyde Wilburn and wife Garlene Workman of Pikeville, Kentucky, and Omar Michael and wife Drotha Workman of Pikeville, Kentucky; one sister, Isalene Caudill of Selma, Indiana, 13 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, July 29, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Rev. Charles Moore, Rev. Herbie Lewis, and Rev. Carlos Bowman officiating. Burial was in Clearfield Cemetery with full military rites conducted at the graveside by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.
Pallbearers were grandsons Robbie Workman, Allen Workman, Mike Workman, Barry Lowe, James Lewis, and Wendell Pernell.
Honorary pallbearers were Marion Lewis, Herman Mabry, David Lewis, and Richard Phillips, great grandsons Michael Ward, Tyler Lowe, Jason Lowe, Timmy Barbeau, Matthew Barbeau, Robert Workman, Aaron Workman, Cody Pernell, Dustin Caldwell, and Logan Caldwell and nephews.
Visitation was. Saturday, July 28, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
Evelyn Eileen Johnson Kidd
1928-2007
MOREHEAD - Evelyn Eileen Johnson Kidd, age 79, of Flemingsburg Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Monday, April 2, 2007, at her residence. She was born February 7, 1928, in Rowan County, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late Harvey Clifford Johnson and Hazel Evelyn Patton Johnson.
She is survived by four sons, David Lee Kidd, Stephen Jay Kidd, and Robert Kidd, all of Morehead, Kentucky, and Randy Dean Kidd of Flemingsburg, Kentucky; two daughters, Diana Kay Davis of Morehead, Kentucky, and Cindy McKenzie of Bath County, Kentucky; one brother, Carrol Johnson of Florence, Kentucky; one sister, Mary Frances Wallace of Morehead, Kentucky; 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Kidd was a nursing assistant at St. Claire Regional Medical Center for 22 years and later an employee of Home Health. She was a member of Charity Freewill Baptist Church.
Funeral services were conducted 1 p.m. Thursday, April 5, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Myron “Bud” Logan and the Rev. Harley Sexton, Jr. officiating. Burial was in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Pallbearers were Anthony Kidd, Kevin Kidd, Philip Cooper, Stephen Kidd, Christopher Kidd, and Adrian Kidd.
Visitation was Wednesday, April 4, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
Kenneth L. Parsons
1932 – 2007
MOREHEAD – Kenneth L. Parsons, 74, of Mansfield, Ohio formerly of Morehead, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2007 in the Med Central Hospital in Mansfield, Ohio.
He was born on October 12, 1932 in Rowan County, Kentucky, a son of the late Lee Parsons and Maude Royce Parsons Maher.
Mr. Parsons was retired from General Motors having worked there for 31 years. He was a United States Army Veteran and was of the Freewill Baptist Faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, George Parsons and three sisters, Lou Ann Gulley, Ithel Caudill and Juanita Lewis.
Survivors include one son, Willard Parsons of Mansfield, Ohio, three daughters, Wilma Sammons of Fleming County, Kentucky, Nadine Sheriff of Newark, Ohio and Kimetha Smith of Lexington, Ohio, one sister, Eileen Kegley of Morehead, and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, April 7, 2007 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. Harley Sexton, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Full military rites will be conducted at the graveside by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Visitation is after 12:00 Noon Saturday.
Pallbearers will be nephews.
Lillian Rose Mynhier Warren
1921-2007
MOREHEAD - Lillian Rose Mynhier Warren, age 85, of Reynolds Road, Morehead, Kentucky passed away Thursday, April 5, 2007, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky after a brief illness. Born May 30, 1921 in Hazard, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Austin and Sally Whitt Mynhier. Her husband William Chester Warren preceded her in death on December 17, 2006.
Mrs. Warren is survived by 2 daughters, Phyllis Warren Flannery and Kay Warren Long and husband Elmer, both of Morehead, Kentucky; 1 son, William Warren, Jr., of Morehead, Kentucky; five grandchildren; Darrell Long, Mike Flannery, Mark Flannery, Billy Warren and Cathy Greene; seven great-grandchildren; Brittany Warren Crowe, Kourtnay Warren, Chase Flannery, Michael Greene, Amanda Greene, Nolan Flannery, Diane Flannery; and one great great-grandchild; Cameron Crowe; 4 nieces and 5 nephews.
Mrs. Warren was a Homemaker and a member of the Siloam Church of God.
Funeral Services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, April 7, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Albert McCalvin and Brother Dean Tiller officiating; burial will follow in the Poston Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mike Flannery, Mark Flannery, Billy Warren, Michael Greene, Nolan Flannery, and Jeff Warren.
Visitation is after 5 p.m. Friday, April 6, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
Irene May Fultz Bowen
1920-2007
MOREHEAD - Irene May Fultz Bowen, age 86, of Tunnel Cut Loop, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2007, at the Life Care Center in Morehead. Born November 21, 1920, in Carter County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Rebecca Burton Fultz. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Homer Bowen, on May 7, 1990, and a grandson, Brian Scott Bowen on September 7, 2002.
She is survived by one son, Jerome Bowen of Morehead, Kentucky; one daughter, Barbara Bradford of Silver Lake, Indiana; one sister, Sadie Shepard of Silver Lake, Indiana; three grandchildren, Annette Graham, Teresa Goble, and Jerry Bowen; and three great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Bowen was a homemaker and member of the Haldeman Church of God.
Funeral services were conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, May 24, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Lloyd Dean officiating; burial was in Bowen Chapel Cemetery in Carter County, Kentucky.
Pallbearers were Terry Knipp, Paul Henderson, Jerry Bowen, Jerome Bowen, John Lands, K. M. Hinton, Vaughn Hinton, and Keith Hinton.
Visitation was Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
Pauline Butcher Gentry
1919-2007
MOREHEAD – Pauline Butcher Gentry, 88, of Crestwood, Kentucky formerly of Morehead passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at her residence.
She was born on March 1, 1919 in Rowan County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Allie Jane Holbrook Havens and Allen Butcher, Jr.
Mrs. Gentry was a retired schoolteacher having taught in the Rowan County School System for 27 years and in Texas for 1 year. She attended the Morehead First Church of God, was a member of the Rowan County Retired Teachers and enjoyed knitting and reading.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Frank Havens, her husband, Woodrow Gentry who passed away in 1959 and her son, John David Bach who passed away in 1998.
Survivors include one brother, James A. Butcher and his wife, Janet of Clearfield, one nephew, Stephen Butcher of Upland, California and several other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Monday, May 28, 2007 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. Allen Hutchinson officiating. Burial will follow in the Caudill Cemetery. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
James Brent Conn
1981-2007
MOREHEAD - James Brent Conn, age 26, of East Main Street, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Friday, October 5, 2007, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
He was born June 28, 1981, in Rowan County, Kentucky, son of Cynthia (Cindy) Fielding Estep and husband Scotty of Morehead, Kentucky, and James Kent Conn and wife Katy of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.
Other survivors include a daughter, Breanna Morgan Conn of Morehead, Kentucky; two sisters, Tiffany Casey of Clinton, Tennessee, and Heather Kelsey of Clearfield, Kentucky; maternal grandmother, Mavis Fannin of Morehead, Kentucky; and paternal grandparents, Ann and Roy Conn of Clearfield, Kentucky; two nieces, Kaila and Ashley Casey of Clinton, Tennessee, and one nephew, Ayden Adkins of Clearfield, Kentucky.
Brent was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, James Arthur Fielding.
He was formerly employed as a driller with High Wall Drilling and enjoyed motor cross racing.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday, October 11, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Gary McQuain and the Rev. Allan Hutchinson officiating. Burial will follow in Estep Cemetery on Cranston Road.
Pallbearers will be Mitchell Kidd, Joe Estep, Roy Conn, Derek Brown, Joshua Brown and Jonathan Brown.
Visitation is after 5 p.m. Wednesday, October 10, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
