Lonnie Steven (Steve) Parker
1947-2007
MOREHEAD - Lonnie Steven (Steve) Parker, age 60, of Christy Creek Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2007, at his residence.
He was born March 11, 1947, in Louisville, Kentucky, and is the son of Olive Myrtle Cox Parker of Morehead, Kentucky, and the late Carmel Burnis Parker.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Donna Fyfe Parker; one son, Kevin Parker and wife Kerri of Morehead, Kentucky; two daughters, Angela Harris and husband Tim and Kelly Moorehead and husband Larry, all of Elliott County, Kentucky; one sister, Phyllis Glover and husband George of Morehead, Kentucky; and four grandchildren, Madison Parker, Dylan Simmons, Taylor Moorehead, and Alexis Parker.
Steve served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a former member and captain of the Elliottville Fire Department. For thirty years he was an employee of Spring Grove Dairy and Southern Belle and recently worked in retail marketing and merchandising.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, October 5, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Bobby Day and the Rev. Rex Seagraves officiating. Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery with full military rites conducted at the graveside by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.
Pallbearers will be Tim Harris, Larry Moorehead, John Bowling, Dickie Blair, Rick Glover, Eugene Glover, and Kevin Parker.
Visitation is after 11 a.m. Friday, October 5, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
Gene Sidney (Sid) Stevens
1934-2007
MOREHEAD - Gene Sidney (Sid) Stevens, age 72, of Farmers, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2007, at the St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.
He was born October 8, 1934, in Farmers, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Harry and Olive Tyree Stevens. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Lloyd “Bud” Stevens and one sister, Norma June Brammer.
He is survived by one brother, Lynden Stevens and wife Judy of Morehead, Kentucky; one sister, Theda Craig, wife of the late Danny Craig, of Farmers; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and one great nephew.
Sid was the owner and operator of Sid’s Country Store in Farmers for more than 20 years.
Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Friday, October 5, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Fannin officiating. Burial will follow in Slaty Point Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ken Wilson, Tim Stevens, Larry Stevens, Don Stevens, Roger Stevens, and Philip Craig.
Thomasina Cooper
1929-2007
OLIVE HILL - Thomasina Armstrong Cooper passed away Sept. 19, 2007 at her residence.
She was born June 9, 1929 in Carter Co., a daughter of the late Tom and Myrtle Kiser Armstrong.
Her husband of 45 years, Vance Cooper, preceded her in death.
She is survived by 2 sisters, Virginia Doss and Barbara Armstrong, both of Olive Hill, and one aunt, Lucille Nimmo of Olive Hill and also a host of relatives and friends.
She was a Christian for many years and attended Ross Chapel Church.
Services were held Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Oney-Henderson Funeral Home. Bro. Terry Dean and Bro. Rudy Reed officiated with burial in the York Cemetery.
Judy Ann Boggs Erwin
1946-2007
MOREHEAD - Judy Ann Boggs Erwin, age 61, of Irwin Road, Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, September 27, 2007, at her residence.
She was born July 28, 1946, in Carter County, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late Joe Cannon Boggs and Gladys Ruth Tackett Boggs. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Earl Boggs.
She is survived by one daughter, Mary Ruth Wiggs and husband Jon of Louisville, Kentucky; two sons, James Erwin of Olive Hill, Kentucky, and Tracy Erwin and wife Holly of Morehead, Kentucky; two brothers, Ercel Boggs and Paul Richard Boggs, both of Alliance, Ohio; two sisters, Betty Jo Stone of Lebanon, Ohio, and Susie Beltrami of Alliance, Ohio; and five grandchildren, Brandon, Courtney, Tyler, Amanda, and Morgan.
Mrs. Erwin was a homemaker and a member of Laborers Local Union #1445 in Catlettsburg, Kentucky. She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed helping others.
Funeral services were conducted 1 p.m. Monday, October 1, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Gayle Price officiating. Burial was in the Bethel Cemetery in Carter County.
Arrangements were under the direction of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
Delmer Ray
1946-2007
PIKEVILLE – Delmer Ray, 60, of Morehead, died Thursday, Sept. 27 at St. Claire Regional Medical Center at Morehead.
He was born Nov. 30, 1946 at Pike County to the late Elmer Ray and Yvonia Thomas Ray.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, worked at General Motors on the assembly line and was a member of Bass America.
Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Reed Ray; two sons, Virgil Ray (Trina) of Pikeville and Christopher Ray of Irish Hills, Mich.; five daughters, Cindy White (Kenny) of Lavonia, Ga., Sheila Harris (Kevin) of North Carolina, Angela Cole (Wayne) of Tipton, Mich.; Tina Hall (Jack) of Hillsboro, and Tammie Reed of Morehead; three brothers, Jimmy R. Ray and Jeffrey W. Ray, both of Pikeville, and Edgar D. Ray of Morehead; two sisters, Katherine R. Branham and Shirley Hall, both of Pikeville; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Cherri L. Ray and Anita Ratliff.
Services were held Sunday, Sept. 30 at the J.W. Call Funeral Home Chapel in Pikeville with Jack Shepherd officiating and burial at Jack Thomas Cemetery at Island Creek. D.A.V rites were conducted by Johns Creek Chapter 166.
Douglas Edwin Dehart
1970-2007
MOREHEAD - Douglas Edwin Dehart, age 36, of Conn Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2007, in a logging accident in Elliott County, Kentucky. He was born May 31, 1970, in Rowan County, Kentucky, and is the son of Thomas E. and Gracie Reynolds Dehart of Morehead.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Tammy Ratliff Dehart; one son, Derek Dickerson of Elliott County; four daughters, Tara Dehart and Shawna Dehart of Greenup, Jessica Dickerson and Kendra Dehart of Elliott County; and one brother, Dwayne Dehart of Elliott County.
He was a farmer and logger and attended the Porter Creek Church of God.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, March 10, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Rev. Vaughn Thornsberry and Rev. Austin Carter officiating; burial will follow in the Dehart Cemetery on Conn Road. Pallbearers will be Kenny Cornett, Jimmy Ratliff, Tim Ratliff, David Conn, John Conn, Randy Holbrook, Ernest Ratliff, Bobby Reynolds, and Jason Whitt.
Visitation is after 5 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
Opal Knipp Clark Patrick
1920-2007
MOREHEAD - Opal Knipp Clark Patrick, age 86, of Tygart Street, Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2007, at the Life Care Center in Morehead, Kentucky. She was born November 4, 1920, at Lawton, Kentucky, in Carter County, and was the daughter of the late G. W. “Buddy” Knipp and Florence Markwell Knipp. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Albert Clark, on May 20, 1978; her second husband, Rev. Russell Patrick on December 29, 1997; one son, James Earl Clark, four brothers, Allen Knipp, Arthur Knipp, George Knipp, and Cecil Knipp; and four sisters, Sarah Caudill, Ada Black, Gladys Estes, and Tina Markwell.
She is survived by five sons and daughters-in-law, Donald (Shirley) Clark of Marion, Indiana, Bobby (Sally) Clark of Marion, Indiana, Gary (Nell) Clark of Shirley, Indiana, Charles (Carolyn) Clark of Olive Hill, Kentucky, and Darrell (Gail) Clark of Lovely, Kentucky; one daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie (Rudy) Cuellar of Orestes, Indiana; and one daughter-in-law, Fern Clark of Dayton, Ohio. Other survivors include two sisters, Glessie Pick of Columbus, Ohio, Mary Alice Roseberry of Cincinnati, Ohio; 16 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; special caregivers, Toddy Caudill and Teresa Sagraves; and a host of dear nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Patrick was a homemaker, a former Morehead State University employee, and a member of the Church of God. She was a devoted Christian, loving mother and grandmother, and a friend to all who knew her.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Gayle Price, Brother Eddie Boggs, and Brother Rex Sagraves officiating. Burial will follow in the Clark Cemetery at Soldier, Kentucky. Pallbearers will be Grandsons James Allen Clark, Jonathan Darrell Clark, David Black, Jason Kruth, and Justin Black and Nephew Larry Knipp. Visitation is after 4 p.m. Thursday, March 8, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
