Naomi Sue Plank
1938-2007
MOREHEAD - Naomi Sue Plank, age 68, of Heritage Place, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Thursday morning, March 8, 2007, at the Life Care Center in Morehead. She was born June 4, 1938, in Rowan County, Kentucky. Sue was preceded in death by her father, Luke Plank on July 15, 1987, and her mother, Eula Mae Clark Plank on September 4, 2002.
She is survived by three sisters, Judy Meadows, Nancy Lambert, and Sarah Jane and Ken Howard all of Morehead, Kentucky; seven brothers, Billie and Berchie Plank, Donnie and Anna Mary Plank, Jackie and Sandra Plank, Dallas Plank, Rodney and Terry Plank, and Nicky and Sue Plank, all of Morehead, Kentucky, and Gary and Fredia Plank of Vanceburg, Kentucky; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was a retired caregiver and a member of the Adams-Plank Church. Sue was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend and will be greatly missed by all.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Carlos Bowman and the Rev. Cecil Ison officiating; burial will follow in the Adams-Plank Cemetery. Pallbearers will be nephews Mike Plank, Joey Plank, Keith Plank, Nathan Plank, Bo Lambert, Cody Plank, Carson Plank, and Ty Howard, and great-nephews Dalton Justice, and Devon Fultz.
Visitation is after 5 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
Arnold G. Stegall
1915-2007
MOREHEAD - Arnold G. Stegall, age 92, of Stegall Road, Elliottville, Kentucky, passed away Thursday morning, March 8, 2007, at the Elliott County Nursing and Rehab Facility in Sandy Hook, Kentucky. Born January 26, 1915, in Elliott County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Harve and Luzane Howard Stegall. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Jewell Winkleman Stegall on October 7, 1974; one daughter, Wanda June Stegall; one granddaughter, Pam Williams Fultz; and two sisters, Berniece Carter and Inez Ploetz.
He is survived by one son, David (Dickie) Stegall of Morehead; three daughters, Eleanor Mae Webb of Dayton, Ohio, Millie Williams of Morehead, and Patricia Lambert of Morehead; two sisters, Hanie Lykins of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Louburl Mason of Sandy Hook, Kentucky; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Mr. Stegall was a lifelong farmer and was saved on February 19, 2007, at 92 years of age.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 11, 2007 at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Tim Rhodes and the Rev. Kendall Brainard officiating. Burial will follow in the Stegall Cemetery in Elliott County, Kentucky. Pallbearers will be David (Dickie) Stegall, Rick Williams, Anthony Williams, Ronnie Webb, David Stegall, and Nathan Lambert. Elvis Newton Elam
1917-2007
MOREHEAD - Elvis Newton Elam, age 89, of County Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, January 14, 2007, at the VA Medical Center in Lexington. Born December 26, 1917, in Rowan County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Willie and Sarah Jane Wilson Elam. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruby Thomas Elam; two children, Fred and Marian Elam of Wilmington, Ohio, and Barbara and Mike Hall of Olive Hill, Kentucky; grandchildren, Diana and Jerry Beamon of Morehead, Kentucky, Anita and Jerry Howard of Morehead, Kentucky, Mary and Steve Schmidt, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and Sarah Elam of Ashville, Ohio; three great grandchildren, Skylar and Jerra Anne Howard of Morehead, Kentucky, and Tyler Schmidt of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; one brother, Billy Ray Elam of Lakeland, Florida; and two sisters, Mildred Gregory and Virginia Ashe, both of Lakeland, Florida.
Mr. Elam was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, a retired farmer, and a member of Johnson First Church of God.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Ben Furman officiating; Diana Beamon will provide family memories. Burial will follow in the Elam Cemetery on Cranston Road with full military rites conducted by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Pallbearers will be Jerry Beamon, Jerry Howard, Ronnie Beamon, James C. Thomas, Clyde A. Thomas, Sr., Clyde A. Thomas, Jr., Paul Kidd, and Robert Thomas. Fola N. Hayes
1919-2007
MOREHEAD - Fola N. Hayes, age 87, of Morehead, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2007, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. Born April 7, 1919, in Morgan County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Rufas Haskell and Ella Ison Hayes. His wife, Nola Marie Fouch Hayes, preceded him in death on July 19, 1992. Fola is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Linda Kay and Mike Neal of Morehead, Kentucky and two grandchildren, Christopher Neal and Scott Neal.
Mr. Hayes was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II and a retired teacher, basketball coach, and businessman. A graduate of Morehead State Teachers College, Fola earned the bachelor’s degree in 1942 and the master’s in 1948 and was a teacher and basketball coach in both Montgomery County and Rowan County school systems. For many years, he was the owner of Fola N. Hayes and Associates in Nashville, Tennessee. He was President of the Morehead State University Alumni Association from 1954-58 and received the Morehead State University Distinguished Alumni Award in 1969. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2007, at the First Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Brian Farmer officiating; burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with full military rites conducted by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Pallbearers will be Bill Fouch, Scott Neal, Christopher Neal Don Lee, Mike Neal and Fred Ison. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Morehead State University Foundation Scholarship Fund. Theda Adams Lemaster Johnson
1938-2007
MOREHEAD - Theda Adams Lemaster Johnson, age 68, of Eldridge Lane, Morehead, Kentucky, formerly of Floyd County, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, January 14, 2007, at her residence. She was born July 5, 1938, in Wheelersburg, Ohio, and was the daughter of the late Mack Lemaster and Trixie Adams Lemaster. Her husband, Dr. M. T. Johnson, preceded her in death on April 14, 1970. Theda is survived by one son, Tom Johnson of Wellington, Kentucky; two brothers, Rex Lemaster of Salyersville, Kentucky, and Buddy Lemaster of Prestonsburg, Kentucky; two sisters, Karma Witherspoon of Grove City, Ohio, and Wanda Bailey of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky; and one grandson, Earl Thomas Johnson.
Mrs. Johnson was a retired employee of American Standard in Paintsville, Kentucky.
Graveside services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, January 18, 2007, at the Chestnut Grove Cemetery in Floyd County. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to a charity of your choice. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
Anna Jane Lewis Jones
1915-2007
MOREHEAD - Anna Jane Lewis Jones, age 91, of Morehead, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2007, at Pioneer Trace Nursing Home in Flemingsburg. She was born December 19, 1915, in Rowan County, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late Andrew Jackson Lewis and Margaret Jane Davis Lewis. On May 3, 1933, she married
Willie Lee Jones of Rowan County, who passed away on November 8, 1977. She was also preceded in death by one son, Lowell Gene Jones, on January 31, 2002; four brothers, Norman Lewis, William Lewis, Abel Lewis and infant Zorie Lewis; one half-brother, Junior Lewis; and four sisters, Eva Lewis Thompson Reed, Vergie Lewis Oldham, Edna Lewis Carter, and Ethel Lewis Black.
She is survived by four children, Anna Lee Black of Fleming County, Loretta Joyce (Bill) Weaver of Fleming County, Kenneth (Robin) Jones of Mays Lick, Burl Ray (Janice) Jones of Rowan County; one sister, Flora Lewis England of Mt. Summit, Indiana; Lowell Gene’s wife, Betty Jones of Rowan County; four half-sisters, Mabel, Esther, Dolly and Faye Lewis; 14 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 16 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She retired from Cowden Manufacturing Company and Morehead State University Adron Doran University Center Cafeteria. She was a member of St. Claire Regional Medical Center Auxiliary and volunteered at the Life Care Center for many years during and after her retirement.
Anna joined Mount Pisgah Christian Church on June 16, 1946, and was a lifetime member.
Funeral services were conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 14, 2007, at Mount Pisgah Christian Church with the Rev. James DeAtley and the Rev. Ford Hinton officiating; burial was in Mount Pisgah Cemetery.
Pallbearers were grandsons Larry Campbell, Rick Campbell, Gene Weaver, Ray Weaver, Kenny Jones and Shawn Jones. Honorary pallbearers were grandsons Stevie Jones and Kevin Jones.
Arrangements were under the direction of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
Bessie Dulin Switzer
1913-2007
MOREHEAD - Bessie Dulin Switzer, age 93, of Clearfield, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, January 14, 2007, at St Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. She was born March 12, 1913, in Rowan County, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late James Dulin and Lillie Kendall Dulin. Her husband, Carl Lewis Switzer, preceded her in death on April 14, 1984. Also preceding her in death were five brothers and two sisters.
Bessie is survived by one daughter, Opal Howard and husband Clay of Olympia, Kentucky; one sister, Stella Leffle of Shelby, Ohio; two grandchildren, Sharon Howard and Ronnie Howard; three great grandchildren, David, Wesley, and Misty Howard; four great-great grandchildren, Morgan, Madison, and Macy Howard, and Makayla Parsons. A host of nieces and nephews also survive.
Bessie was a homemaker and retired from Cowden Manufacturing Company, where she worked for 25 years. She was a member of the Clearfield First Church of God Tabernacle and a former Sunday School teacher.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 18, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Max Molihan officiating; burial will follow in Brown Cemetery. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Jack B. Keeys
1929-2007
MOREHEAD - Jack B. Keeys, age 77, of Flemingsburg Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, February 3, 2007, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. Born April 5, 1929, in Rowan County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Luther and Lena Coffee Keeys.
In 1947, he married
Goldie Rebecca Kiser Keeys. They were the parents of four children: two sons, Ronnie Keeys and Greg Keeys of Morehead and one daughter, Janice Anderson, also of Morehead. He was preceded in death by one son, Mike Keeys of Morehead, on July 2, 2001, and his wife Goldie on February 5, 2003.
Besides his children, Jack is survived by six grandchildren, Alli Keeys, Kennedy Keeys, Brad Anderson, Jason Anderson, Robbie Keeys, and Mary Beth Keeys; three great grandchildren, Lexan Gilbert, Madisen Anderson, and Lucas Manor; and two daughters-in-law, Melissa and Leeann Keeys of Morehead.
Jack was a brick mason and contractor in the Morehead area for over 50 years and had built over 60 homes with his sons and grandsons. He was retired from Keeys & Sons Construction. He also mined coal and was a logger for several years.
He enjoyed his family and grandchildren and most of all his loyal companion “Rascal, ” a spirited Jack Russell dog that kept him company and brought him joy his last few years.
Jack was affiliated with Mt. Pisgah Christian Church.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. James DeAtley and the Rev. Jeff Fannin officiating; burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Jack Anderson, Brad Anderson, Jason Anderson, Robbie Keeys, Ronnie Keeys, and Robbie Workman. Honorary pallbearers will be Greg Keeys, Tommy Selby, Ron Caudill, William Elam, Bud Dailey, and Duane Flannery.
Visitation is after 5 p.m. Monday, February 5, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
