Charles E. McKinney
1930 - 2007
FLORIDA - Charles E. McKinney succumbed to his earthly struggles in the early hours of Thursday, February 1, 2007, at Big Bend Hospice House. Tallahassee friends who mark his passing include residents and staff at the Cherry Laurel retirement community, St. Augustine Plantation assisted living, and Alterra Sterling House assisted living. Close and extended family in Tallahassee include nephews Donald R Workman and Larry L Workman and their wives Roxanne Workman and Bonnie R. Benge. “Mac” was born in Morehead, Rowan County, Kentucky on June 25, 1930 to Elbert “Bert” W. and Amy L. McKinney. He served in the newly formed United States Air Force in Panama Canal Zone, was a member of the International Association of Firefighters, and retired with “Badge 44” from the Pinellas County Fire Department. His wit and twinkling humor will be missed by all who have known him. Rest in peace.
Kenneth Ray Morris
1924-2007
MOREHEAD - Kenneth Ray Morris, age 82, of Rawcel Heights, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Friday, February 2, 2007, at the Life Care Center in Morehead. He was born December 15, 1924, in Lee County, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Fraley and Sarah Gilbert Morris. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Butch Morris, in 1993.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Spencer Morris; two daughters and their husbands, Louise and Everett Mabry of Wallingford, Kentucky, and Loretta and Rufus Williams of Morehead, Kentucky; three half-brothers, Clifford Morris and Gene Morris, of Campton, Kentucky, and Artie Jaeger of Crandon, Wisconsin; two half-sisters, Ruth Ann Hall of Campton, Kentucky, and Caren Jaeger of Land Between the Lakes, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Kenny Morris, Kinder Henderson, Rufina Back and Kathy Watson; four great grandchildren, Derrick Morris, Kennedy Back, Alaina Back, and Isaac Watson.
Mr. Morris, a former employee of Lee Clay Products Company, retired from the maintenance department at Morehead State University. He also worked in the Green Thumb program. He was a member of the Sharkey Freewill Baptist Church.
Funeral services were conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, February 4, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Harley Sexton, Jr. and the Rev. Herbert Stallard officiating; burial was in Siloam Cemetery. Pallbearers were Mark Lewis, Rick Lewis, Bobby Davis, Everett Mabry, Rufus Williams, and Jeremy Watson.
Visitation was Saturday, February 3, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
Dr. Charles B. (Charlie) Thompson
Dr. Charles B. (Charlie) Thompson, age 76, of Second Street, Morehead, husband of Betty Taylor Thompson, passed away Monday at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, February 8, 2007, at the Morehead United Methodist Church. Visitation is after 4 p.m. Wednesday, February 7, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
Jewell Elizabeth Foster “Libby” Holcombe
1917-2007
MOREHEAD – Jewell Elizabeth Foster “Libby” Holcombe, age 89, of Williamsburg, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2007, at Williamsburg Landings Retirement Complex, Williamsburg, Virginia. She was born on September 7, 1917 at Morehead, Kentucky, to the late Alvie Lee Foster and Sallie Foster. She was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Foster Tucker, and brother, Alvie Lee Foster.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Allen Holcombe, of Williamsburg, Virginia; her son, Charles Foster Plymale and daughter-in-law Vlatka Splajt Plymale of Tiffin, Iowa; grandsons, Charles Foster Plymale Jr. (Arlington, Virginia) and Philip David Plymale(Mililani, Hawaii); great-granddaughter, Jessica Plymale Montes (Keller, Texas); great-grandson, Jarod Plymale (Mililani, Hawaii); nieces, Sallie McDaniel (Douglasville, Georgia), Christine Smelser (Chattanooga, Tennessee), Jackie Foster Doty (Ashland, Tennessee) and Sara Jane Foster (Chattanooga, Tennessee) and nephews, David Foster Tucker (Chattanooga, Tennessee) and Alvie Lee Foster (Chattanooga, Tennessee).
Libby Foster Holcombe worked most of her life as an executive secretary for the trade association supporting the lumber industry in Washington, DC. She enjoyed her family, books, cooking, cats, travel and music.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p. m. on Saturday, May 5, 2007 at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel.
Frankie Williams Vice
1918-2007
MOREHEAD - Frankie Williams Vice, age 88, of Thomaston, Georgia, formerly of Hillsboro, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2007, at the Molena Nursing Home in Meansville, Georgia. She was born July 11, 1918, in Poplar Plains, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late Chilt and Lizzie Watson Williams. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Estill Vice; one step daughter, Dorothy Denton; one step son, Justin Vice; two sisters, Willa Mae Harmon and Betty Jean Rexroad; and two brothers, Homer Williams and Jack Williams.
Frankie is survived by one son, Wayne Harmon of Thomaston, Georgia; one step son, Estill Vice and wife Nancy of Flemingsburg, Kentucky, and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Vice was a homemaker and a member of the Hillsboro Christian Church, were she served as church secretary for many years.
Graveside services and interment will be 2 p.m. Friday, April 27, 2007, at Hillsboro Cemetery with Rev. Billy Harmon officiating. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Thursday, April 26, 2007, at the Hutton Funeral Home, in Hillsboro, Kentucky.
Mayedine Pennington Dillon
1930-2006
MOREHEAD - Mayedine Pennington Dillon, age 76, of Copperas Hollow Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Friday, November 17, 2006, at Ridgeway Manor Nursing Home in Owingsville, Kentucky. She was born January 28, 1930, in Elliott County, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late Talmadge L. Pennington and Maudie Kegley Pennington. Her husband, Charles Junior Dillon, passed away November 21, 1985.
Mrs. Dillon is survived by 2 sons and daughters-in-law: Ronald W. and Karen Sue Dillon of Morehead, Kentucky and Charles Shawn and Angela Dillon of Clearfield, Kentucky; 2 daughters and sons-in-law: April S. and Edward Deuberry of Noblesville, Indiana, and Kimberly D. and David E. Plank of Morehead, Kentucky; 3 brothers: Willie Pennington of Clearfield, Kentucky, Ezra Pennington of Westville, Illinois, Frank Pennington of Tiffin, Ohio; 6 sisters: Marie Lewis of Greenup, Kentucky, Betty Jean Piekarczyk of Houston, Texas, Catherine Martin of West Jefferson, Ohio, Mary Mohan of Belton, Kentucky, Frances Gregory of Clyde, Ohio, and Sandra Decrescenzo of Hammond, Indiana; 8 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Dillon was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and gardening. She was a member of the Sharkey Freewill Baptist Church.
Funeral services were conducted 1 p.m. Monday, November 20, 2006, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Harley Sexton Jr. officiating; burial was in the Crix Cemetery. Pallbearers were Greg Mulkey, Daniel Dillon, Jason Dillon, Zachary Plank, Kelly Gregory, Jason Gregory and Brian Gregory. Visitation was Sunday, November 19, 2006, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
Earl Scott Fraley, Jr.
Earl Scott Fraley, Jr., 53, of Salt Lake City, UT, husband of Deborah Souder Fraley and son of Libby Fraley of Morehead and the late Earl Scott Fraley, Sr., passed away September 25, 2006.
A celebration of Scott’s life will be Friday, November 24, 2006, at 11:30 a.m. with visitation to begin at 10:30 a.m. at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with full military rites conducted by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.
Winifred Gorton Mills
1914-2006
MOREHEAD - Winifred Gorton Mills, age 92, formerly of Michigan and Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, November 18, 2006, at her granddaughter's home in Flemingsburg, Kentucky. Born December 21, 1914, in Mecosta, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Ethel Price Gorton. Winnie was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of 68 years, Otus Eugene Mills, on December 9, 2005, and a son, Russell Mills.
Survivors include her daughter, Kathleen (Kathy) Murphy of Flemingsburg, Kentucky; four granddaughters, Jenny Duke of Flemingsburg, Kentucky, Melody Robach of Wyoming, Michigan, Michelle Hoffman of Nashville, Michigan, and Marnie Mills of Grand Rapids, Michigan; two grandsons, Jerrett Gieseler of New York City and Trevor Mills of South Carolina; eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Prior to Winnie and Otus moving to Morehead in 1998, Winnie had been a bookkeeper in Lansing, Michigan, and she and her husband owned a hardware store in Vermontville, Michigan. Winnie was also very active in civic affairs and clubs. She had served on the Vermontville City Council for many years, was instrumental in the yearly Vermontville Maple Syrup Festival, an active member of the Congregational Church, and president of the local Women's Club as well as district president.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 17, 2005, at the Bosworth Cemetery in Olivet, MI. Memorials are suggested to Habitat for Humanity.

Donald Blythe
1939-2009
MOREHEAD – Donald Blythe, age 69, of Leisure Lane, Clearfield, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, February 14, 2009, at U.K. Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.
He was born July 2, 1939, in Ironton, Ohio, and was the son of the late Andrew and Amelia Hughes Blythe. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Cynthia Mosier Blythe.
Survivors include one son, Donald Wade Blythe of Ashland, Kentucky; one daughter, Amelia Ann Blythe of Worthington, Kentucky; one granddaughter, Journey Ann Blythe, of Worthington, Kentucky; two brothers, Andrew J. Blythe of Sabina, Ohio and Smitty Lee Hughes of Russells Point, Ohio; and two sisters, Goldie White of Morehead, Kentucky, and Ruby Howell of Wellston, Ohio.
Mr. Blythe was a former employee of C & H Leather Company in Ashland, Kentucky, and attended Charity Free Will Baptist Church.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Charity Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Kidd officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
Kip Edward Emrick
1963-2009
MOREHEAD – Kip Edward Emrick, age 46, of West Sun Street, Morehead, Kentucky, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, passed away Sunday, February 15, 2009, at the St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead, Kentucky.
He was born January 19, 1963, in Middletown, Ohio, and is the son of Dorothy “Dot” Potter Emrick of Middletown, OH, and the late Charles “Chuck” Emrick, who passed away in 2003.
In addition to his mother, Kip is survived by his wife, Michelle Kidd Emrick, whom he married
July 28, 2001; one daughter, Rachel Miriah Alexandria Emrick at home; two sisters, Karen Bartel of Wausha, Wisconsin, and Kim Williams of Pendleton, Indiana; and six nephews.
Kip was a mortgage consultant for Unlimited Mortgage in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. He loved fishing, golf, music and sports.
Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Thursday, February 19, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor James Pollitte officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers: Randy Craft, Billy Kidd, Chuck Coomer, Jim Smith, Devin Williams, Tommy Bellaw, Jeff Connover, Sam Potter, Kevin Ledford, Jeff May, and Johnny Hall.
Visitation is after 5 p.m. Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
