John W. Botts
LEXINGTON – John W. Botts, 84, of Beulah Park Ct., Lexington, husband of Mary C. Rankins Botts of Lexington and father of Francene (Vincent) Botts-Butler of Morehead, a host of other relatives and friends, died Monday, June 4.
Funeral services are 1 p.m. Friday, June 8 at Evergreen Baptist Church, 749 Florida St., Lexington. Visitation is after 11 a.m. Friday at the church until time of services.

Gracie Slusher Dillon Buchanan
1932-2007
MOREHEAD - Gracie Slusher Dillon Buchanan, age 74, of Lowell, Indiana, formerly of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, June 3, 2007, at her residence. She was born June 12, 1932, in Rowan County, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late Willie and Laura Kidd Slusher.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Wayne Slusher, and three sisters, Rosie Davis, Carol Cagle, and Daisy Maggard.
She is survived by her husband, Harold Buchanan, whom she married
August 15, 1974; one son, James Dillon of Lowell, Indiana; one daughter, Kay Perry and husband Arlie of Morehead, Kentucky; one daughter-in- law, Diana Brown of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; one brother, Andy Slusher of Morehead, Kentucky; four sisters, Sarah Griffin of Lowell, Indiana, Ida Slone and Nola Kidd both of Morehead, Kentucky, and Nona Judy Black of Portland, Oregon.
Also surviving are two grandsons, Brandon Dillon of Valparaiso, Indiana, and Blake Dillon of Lowell, Indiana, and one great-granddaughter, Payton Dillon of Paducah, Kentucky.
Mrs. Buchanan was a retired glass inspector with Ball Glass Company in Dolton, Illinois. She enjoyed gardening and collecting dolls.
Funeral services were conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, June 7, 2007, at the Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Rev. H.G. Pratt officiating; burial was in the Crix Cemetery in Morehead.
Visitation was Wednesday, June 6, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
Nickie Burton
1950-2007
OHIO - Nickie Burton, 56, of Crestline, died Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at home.
Born Nov. 20, 1950 in Morehead, Ky., he was the son of the late Ora T. Click and Minnie (Adkins) Burton Christian. He married
Sheila (Kelley) Bowman Burton June 4, 1999 and she survives.
He is a member of Crestline Eagles Aerie 859 and retired from P.P.G. in Crestline after 34 years.
He is survived by one daughter, Nikita Burton of Crestline; three step children, Crystal Bowman of Bucyrus, Heather Hall of Lexington, Ky. and Nicole Bowman of Crestline; one brother and sister-in-law, Bobby Ray and Nicki Burton of Galion; five sisters, Dorothy Sue Burton, Patty Burton, Geraldine and Wayne Burton McKinniss, Betty and David Mason and Carol and Mickie Sloan all of Morehead, Ky.; two step sisters and their husbands, Brenda Sue and George Ison of Cincinnati and Faye and Jack Lewis of Morehead, Ky. and one step brother and wife, John Paul and Alanda Christian of Lancaster.
He was preceded in death by his step father, Hazel Christian, one brother, Paul Edward Burton, two step brothers, Roy and Bobby Ray Christian, one step sister, Maxine Christian and a nephew, Robert Anthony McKinniss.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 16, 2007 at the Crestline Eagles.

Ellis Alexander
1923-2007
GALLIPOLIS, OHIO – Ellis C. Alexander, 83, of Bidwell, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, may 13 at his residence. He was born Aug. 18, 1923 at East Jordan, Mich., to the late Thurman and Ruth Qualls Alexander Lester.
Ellis was a retired truck diver from Smith Transportation in Staunton, Va., where he received many driving and safety awards. He acquired a million plus miles without having a chargeable accident. He was a member of Teamsters Local 175 in Kanawha City, W.Va., a Kentucky Colonel, a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Grayson, and attended the White Oak Baptist. Ellis was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and received an accommodation for being the first and youngest truck driver to cross the Russian Supply Line during WWII.
Ellis is survived by his wife, Macel Tompkins Alexander, whom he married
on March 12, 1948 at Charleston, W.Va., one daughter and son-in-law, Susan (Robert) Scott of Bidwell; a grandson, Robert (Shannon) Scott of Bidwell; two great-grandchildren, Cameron and Madison Scott; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Everett and Chester Alexander; and a sister, Hazel Moomaw.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 15 at the Willis Funeral Home at Gallipolis, with the Rev. James Harris and the Rev. Carl Ward officiating. Burial will follow at Gravel Hill Cemetery, Cheshire, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to the Holzer Hospice, 100 Jackson Pike, Gallipolis, Ohio, 45631.
Verna Bolenbaugh
OHIO – Verna Jewell Bolenbaugh, 76, of Aberdeen, Ohio, died Friday, May 11 at Meadowview Regional Medical Center in Maysville.
Survivors include three sisters, Ruby Terrell, Betty Gibson and Ida Dillon, all of Morehead.
Graveside services are Thursday, May 17 at 10 a.m. at Carter Oak Cemetery at Aberdeen. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Cahall Funeral Home, Ripley, Ohio.
Marie Christian Gulley
1922 - 2007
MOREHEAD – Marie Christian Gulley, 85, of U. S. 60 East passed away Saturday, May 12, 2007 in the Oceanside Hospice in Ormond Beach, Florida after an illness of several weeks.
She was born on March 24, 1922 in Rowan County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Herbert and Mamie Sturgill Christian.
Mrs. Gulley was a retired pastry chef for Morehead State University. She was a member of the Morehead First Church of God, the Progressive Homemaker Club and a Kentucky Colonel. She enjoyed flower gardening and attended the Golden Agers.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Gulley who passed away on February 13, 1997 and one brother, Claude Christian.
Survivors include one son, Carl Edward Gulley and his wife, Marquetta of Richmond, Virginia, one daughter, Beverly Gulley of Daytona Beach, Florida, four brothers, Verner Christian of Miamisburg, Ohio, Carl Christian of Richmond, Ralph Christian of Jacksboro, Tennessee and Jimmie Christian of Franklin, Ohio, one sister, Berniece Gulley of Morehead, two grandsons, Matthew Kyle Gulley and William Justin Gulley and one great-grandson, Jackson Mills Gulley
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 16, 2007 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. Lloyd Dean officiating. Burial will follow in the Brown Cemetery. Visitation is from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday.

Kenneth B. Kidd
1929 - 2007
MOREHEAD – Kenneth B. Kidd, 78, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2007 in the St. Claire Regional Medical Center.
He was born on January 12, 1929 in Morgan County, Kentucky, a son of the late Albert and Ludy Barker Kidd.
Mr. Kidd was a farmer, sawmill worker and logger. He was a veteran of the United States Army having attained the rank of Corporal and was a member of the Oak Hill Church of God. He also enjoyed hunting.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Jackie Lee Kidd and two brothers, Troy Kidd and Marvin Kidd.
Survivors include his wife, Essie Trent Kidd of Morehead, one son, Tony A. Kidd and his wife, Janie of Elliott County, two daughters, Tammy Williams and her husband, Douglas of Morgan County and Loretta Stamper and her husband, Brownie of Morehead, a step-daughter, Bernadene Wright and her husband, Jake of Morehead, three sisters, Virginia Barker of Sandy Hook, Dorene Wheeler and her husband, Wayne of Xenia, Ohio and Shirley Jennings and her husband, Tilmon of Blairs Mill, seven grandchildren, Stephanie Kidd, Elisha Harris, Lindsay Williams, John Williams, Chris Stamper, Danielle Stamper and Tara Stamper, five step-grandchildren, Stacy Wilson, Brian Wilson, Stevie Wilson, Jonathon Williams and Amber Wright and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 15, 2007 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Madden and Eugene Winkleman officiating. Burial will follow in the Kidd Cemetery at Blairs Mill. Full military rites will be conducted at the graveside by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.
Pallbearers will be Chris Kidd, Billy Jennings, Glendon Harris, Brian Wilson, Stacy Wilson, Stevie Wilson, John Williams, Jonathon Williams and Chris Stamper.
Myrtle Caudill Trent
1921-2007
MOREHEAD- Myrtle Caudill Trent, age 85, of Dry Creek Road, Clearfield, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2007, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. She was born June 6, 1921, in Elliott County, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late Wales and Ollie Porter Caudill.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wyatt Trent on February 12, 1987; two daughters, Patricia Ann Trent on October 5, 1984, and Ina Chloe Roe on March 3, 1992; one grandson, Mark Barnett on September 21, 1999; and one granddaughter, Karen Trent Kidd on April 26, 2005.
She is survived by two sons, Roger Trent of Morehead, Kentucky, and Ronnie Trent of Ypsilanti, Michigan; three daughters, Barbara Sue Trent and Carolyn Barnett of Morehead, Kentucky, and Linda Conley of Georgetown, Kentucky; two brothers, Cleo Caudill of Ann Arbor, Michigan, and James Caudill of Plymouth, Michigan; one sister, Beatrice Kinaschuk of Honor, Michigan; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Trent was a cook at Rowan County High School for four years and was the Dietary Supervisor at Life Care Center for 18 years. She was a senior member of Ditney Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 16, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Harley Sexton, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Kendall Trent, R. L. Trent, Jeremy Kidd, Randy Roe, Rob Hanson, and Christian Elrod. Honorary pallbearers will be Wendall Trent, Dewayne Adkins, Dennis Conn, Tyler Barnett, J. D. Barnett, and Coleman Callaway.
