Buster Pecco
1919-2007

MOREHEAD - Buster Pecco, age 87, of Big Brushy Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2007, at his home. He was born July 19, 1919, in Pike County, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Tom Pecco, Sr. and Mariah Trout Pecco. His wife, Mary Jane Ball Pecco, whom he married June 19, 1938, passed away August 2, 1994. He was also preceded in death by one brother, William (Sam) Pecco in 1976; one sister, Lois Stratton in 2006, and one son-in-law, Jerry R. Justice in 1997.

He is survived by his six children, Ilene Tackett and husband Forest, Tony Pecco and wife Lula, Nick Pecco and wife Anna, Elizabeth Pecco Justice and Tom Pecco, all of Morehead, Kentucky; and Mary Ann Debord and husband William of Shelbyville, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Angela Kay Tackett, Samuel Nathan Pecco and wife Autumn, Kyle Nicholas Pecco and wife Jennifer, and Mary Elizabeth Pecco, all of Morehead, Kentucky; and one great-granddaughter, Gianna Elizabeth Pecco of Morehead.

Also surviving are one brother, Tom Pecco, Jr., of Belfrey, Kentucky; five sisters, Marie Pecco Ball and Pauline Pecco Hackney of Belfrey, Kentucky, Irene Pecco Salyers of Hampton, Virginia, Jenny Pecco Nelson of Abingdon, Virginia, and Anna Pecco DiBuono of Virginia Beech, Virginia, and several nieces and nephews.

Before moving to Morehead in 1970, Buster and Mary Jane owned a grocery and meat store for many years in Pikeville, Kentucky. They continued the grocery store business in Rowan County for a number of years, although Buster’s main interest was always farming.

Buster was a member of the Sharondale Church of Christ in Belfry, Kentucky, and in later years before becoming ill, attended the Ringos Mills Christian Church.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, May 14, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Bob Werntz officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation is after 3 p.m. Saturday and after 11 a.m. Sunday at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to St. Claire Hospice.

Nellie Lucresia Debord Tackett
1924-2007

MOREHEAD - Nellie Lucresia Debord Tackett, age 83, of Oriental Lane, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2007, at her home. She was born March 9, 1924, in Rowan County, Kentucky, to the late William and Anna Thornsberry Debord. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Ivan Debord; five sisters, Elizabeth Morehouse, Corda Morehouse, Laura Fraley, Rosa Campbell, and Frankie Debord; and one great granddaughter, Abigail Tackett.

Mrs. Tackett is survived by her husband of 65 years, Rev. Elijah Tackett; three sons, William Donald Tackett (and wife Dian) of Florence, Kentucky, Jack Tackett (and wife Diane) of Morehead, Kentucky, and Chris Tackett (and wife Margaret) of Prattville, Alabama; one daughter, Phyllis Childress (and husband James) of Panama; two sisters, Wilda Sloan of Morehead, Kentucky, and Eula Vise of Flemingsburg, Kentucky.

Also surviving are ten grandchildren, Melanie Day of Hamilton, Ohio, Bill Tackett of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, Adam Tackett of Glencoe, Kentucky, Jennifer Maples of Clearfield, Kentucky, Brian Tackett of Columbus, Ohio, Teresa Jefferson of Morehead, Kentucky, Jason Tackett of Morehead, Kentucky, Kira Tackett of Columbus, Ohio, and Kasey Tackett of Prattville, Alabama; and thirteen great grandchildren.

Mrs. Tackett was a homemaker and member of the Bible Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, May 11, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Tackett Family officiating. Burial will follow in the Cranston Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons and grandsons-in-law.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Bible Baptist Church, P.O. Box 827, Morehead, KY 40351.

Raymond Terrell
1934-2007

MOREHEAD - Raymond Terrell, age 73, of Jones Ridge, Clearfield, Kentucky, went to live with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, August 4, 2007.

Born March 31, 1934, in Rowan County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Joseph Columbus and Arntie Hardin Terrell. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Farris Terrell, Joseph Columbus Terrell, Jr., and Glendon Terrell, and one sister, Mable Christine Perry.

Raymond is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Myrtle Perkins Terrell, whom he married on March 5, 1955. He is also survived by four children, Glenna Carol Perkins and Troy of Morehead, Raymond Mitchell Terrell and Patty of Clearfield, Pamela Terrell Carton and Joe of Hoover, Alabama, and Randell Lee Terrell and James Snowden of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky; five sisters, Ruth Gibson of Albion, Indiana, Shirley Johnson of Hillsboro, Kentucky, Mazel Mullins of Albion, Indiana, Linda Mullins of Morehead, and Betty Maxey of Somerset, Kentucky.

Other survivors include four grandsons, Kevin Perkins of Morehead, Michael Terrell and Mitchell Terrell of Clearfield, and Joey Carton of Hoover, Alabama, and three great-grandsons, Dustin Hogge, Andrew Perkins, and Aaron Terrell.

Raymond worked for Service Incorporated of Morehead and P & T Construction. He was of the Christian Faith and was an avid fisherman, hunter, musician, and gardener.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 7, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jesse Perkins and the Rev. Herbie Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at Jones Cemetery on Jones Ridge. Pallbearers will be sons-in-law and grandsons.

Visitation is after 5 p.m. Monday, August 6, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Alice Cole Nesbitt
1930 - 2007

MOREHEAD – Alice Cole Nesbitt, 77, of Ocala, Florida formerly of Morehead, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2007 in the Ocala Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born on May 4, 1930 in Miami, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Walter G. and Clara Knight Cole.

Mrs. Nesbitt was a retired clerk having worked at Morehead State University. She enjoyed reading and was a former aide at the Rowan County Library. She was of the protestant faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Don Nesbitt on March 8, 1981.

Survivors include two sons, David Nesbitt of Louisville, Kentucky and Mark Nesbitt of Morehead, Kentucky. A daughter, Susan Cantrell of Ocklawaha, Florida and a step daughter, Cynthia Nesbitt of Morehead, two sisters, Mary Ann Petry of Chinguapin, North Carolina and Ethel Tayse Cleveland, Ohio. Six grandchildren, Joe Wallace, Mary Hampton, Dan Haynes, Donnie Riddle, Billy Brown and Sheila Gorman. A great-grandchild William Jacob Gorman and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, June 17, 2007 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. David Starcher officiating. Burial will follow in the Bradley Cemetery at Soldier. Visitation is 3:00 P.M. Saturday.

Serving as pallbearers will be family and friends.

Maudie Harper Price
1920-2007

MOREHEAD - Maudie Harper Price, West Liberty, KY, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2007, at her residence, at the age of 87 years, 4 months and 21 days. She was born Monday, January 19, 1920 in Morgan County, KY, and a daughter of the late Kelly & Lida Blair Harper.

Maudie was united in marriage to Perly Price on Saturday, November 13, 1943. To this union four children were born. She was a born again Christian, a member of the West Liberty Church of Christ, was a homemaker, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Perly Price, and four sisters, Daisy Harper, Mable Taulbee, Cristal Ratliff and Bessie Howard.

She is survived by her four children, Barbara & John Stacy, West Liberty, KY, Betty & David Oswald, Lexington, KY, Johnny & Kim Price, Morehead, KY, Phyllis & Dwain Herring, Beulaville, N.C.; eight grandchildren, Lisa and Wes White, Chris and Jenna McGuire, Jennifer Oswald, Becky and Doug Clark, Tiffanie and Gabe Helterbrand, Melissa Herring, Jonathan Herring, and Chase Price; three great grandchildren, Tori White, Noah Clark, and Caleb Helterbrand; five sisters, Hazel & Paris Davis, Mt. Sterling, KY, Mattie McLean, Nicholasville, KY, Murlene & Henry Smith, Richmond, IN, Reva & Bill Wilson, Archer, FL, Shirley Stewart, Graham, FL, two brothers, Clayton & Linda Harper, Southern Pines, N.C. and Jimmy & Louise Harper, Richmond, IN.

Funeral services were 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 12, 2007, at the Potter Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Don Flatt and Bro Paul Balch officiating. Burial followed in the Grassy Lick Cemetery, Grassy Creek, KY.

Pallbearers: Chris McGuire, Jonathan Herring, Chase Price, Wes White, Gabe Helterbrand, Doug Clark, Danny Akers, Buster Cox.

Winford Owen Tackett
1930-2007

MOREHEAD - Winford Owen Tackett, age 77, of Crain Creek Road, Wallingford, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, June 9, 2007, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. He was born May 21, 1930, in Menifee County, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Lewis Harvey “Buck” Tackett and Lula Belle Hampton Tackett.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Steven Allen Tackett; one stepson, Dale Johnson; three grandchildren, Renae Tackett, Latisha Tackett, and Amy Lee Tackett; seven brothers, Ed, Al, Willard, Harvey, Floyd, George, and Pat Tackett; one infant brother; and three sisters, Ethel Allen, Margaret Shrout, and America Tackett.

He is survived by his wife, Dixie Yocum Tackett; eight sons, David Tackett and wife Chris of Soldier, Kentucky, Earl Tackett and wife Marlene of Morehead, Kentucky, Terry Tackett and wife Tilene of Fleming County, Kentucky, Daniel Tackett and wife Essie of Morehead, Kentucky, Larry Tackett, Bill Tackett, Timothy Tackett and wife Serena, and Damon J. Tackett, all of Fleming County, Kentucky; four daughters, Connie Hilterbrand and husband Gary, Charolette Thompson and husband Sherman, Barbara Tackett and Teresa Tackett, all of Fleming County, Kentucky; one stepdaughter, Freda Peck and husband Tommy of Menifee County, Kentucky; one brother, Joe Tackett of Middletown, Ohio; and two sisters, Ruby Brisco of Middleton, Ohio, and Sally Rose of Menifee County, Kentucky.

Other survivors include 19 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Winford served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a farmer, logger, trader, and coon hunter.

Funeral services were conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Joe Clark officiating.

Burial was in the Newman Cemetery in Fleming County. Sons served as pallbearers.

Visitation was Monday, June 11, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Lorene Adkins
1917-2007

Lorene Prewitt Spencer Adkins, 89, wife of the late Ison Adkins, died Monday at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. Born in Sandy Hook August 18, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Mose Sanford & Laura Belle Moore Prewitt. She had attended New Life Assembly of God Church in Midway, Ky.

Mrs. Adkins is survived by 2 daughters, Margery (Morris) Hinton of Wellington, Oh. And Opal Yvonne Akins of Somerset, 2 sons, Lawrence “Larry” (Nyiokae) Spencer of Midway and Sterling (Francis) Spencer of Somerset, 1 brother, Mose Sanford Prewitt Jr. of Sandy Hook. 12 grandchildren 30 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by 1 sister, Serilda Adkins, 2 brothers, Franklin & Vencil Prewitt, 1 grandson, Sterling Eugene Spencer and 1 great granddaughter, Carley Renee Wine. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Ollie Spencer.

Funeral services will be held 11:00am Friday May 4, 2007 at Clark Funeral Home, Versailles, with Rev. Dewell Perry officiating. Burial will follow at the Midway Cemetery. Serving as casketbearers will be Mark Maupin, Tim Wine, Lawrence Edward Spencer, Jeffrey Dean Spencer, Christopher David White, Nathaniel James Dowdell, Ryan Gregory Johnson and Kyle Eugene Spencer.
