Ilene McDaniel Cox
1920-2007
MOREHEAD – Ilene McDaniel Cox, 87, of Elliottville, Kentucky passed away Monday, April 30, 2007 in the Conway Medical Center in Conway, South Carolina.
She was born on February 22, 1920 in Rowan County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late H. K. McDaniel and Sarah Ann Roe McDaniel.
Mrs. Cox was a retired employee of Morehead State University and she attended the Elliottville Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening flowers and vegetables and canning.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Scott Cox who passed away on July 28, 1995, one brother, Jesse McDaniel and two sisters, Ardelia Caudill and Rebecca Lewis.
Survivors include one son, Jim Cox of Conway, South Carolina, three grandchildren, Michelle Renee Cox of Long Beach, California, James Christopher Cox and his wife, Twilla of North Charleston, South Carolina and Eric Scott Cox and his wife, Lee of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, May 5, 2007 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow in the McDaniel Cemetery at Elliottville. Visitation is after 5:00 P.M. Friday.
Pallbearers will be Brad Stacy, Jared Stacy, Taylor Cox, Eric Cox, Chris Cox and Joe Leon and honorary pallbearers will be Norwood Caudill, Ray Dillon and Earl Henson.
Jewell Holcombe
MOREHEAD - Jewell Elizabeth “Libby” Foster Holcombe, age 89, of Williamsburg, VA, a Rowan County native and daughter of the late Alvie Lee and Sallie Foster, passed away February 11, 2007, at the Williamsburg (Virginia )Landings Retirement Complex.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Allen Holcombe; one son, Charles Foster (Vlatka) Plymale of Tiffin, Iowa; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and six nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals. Burial will follow in the Clearfield Cemetery.
Ora L. Johnson
Ora L. Johnson, 73, of Morehead passed away Wednesday morning at his home.
He was the husband of Mrs. Hester L. Johnson.
There is no visitation or services. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

James C. Kelsey
1941 –2007
MOREHEAD – James C. Kelsey, 65, of East Clack Mountain Road, Clearfield, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at his home.
He was born on October 18, 1941 in Rowan County, Kentucky, a son of the late John Henry Kelsey and Nola Mae Caudill Kelsey.
Mr. Kelsey was a retired heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the Slab Camp Christian Church and he enjoyed fishing and caring and working with his horses.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, John Tilden Kelsey who passed away on June 8, 1985.
Survivors include his wife, Roberta Jones Kelsey, whom he married
on May 2, 1964 of Clearfield, one son, Steve Kelsey and his wife, Kim of Clearfield, two daughters, Norma Kelsey of Mt. Sterling and Lynn Pennington of Morehead, two brothers, Jack Kelsey of Batavia, Ohio and Ernie Kelsey of Vanceburg, three sisters, Pauline Brown and Irene Barker both of Morehead and Louise Fischer of Fayetteville, North Carolina, four grandchildren, Corey Kelsey, Jeremy Jent, Megan Pennington and Quenna Kelsey and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 4, 2007 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Moore, Rev. Herbert D. Lewis and Larry Hamm officiating. Burial will follow in the Jones Cemetery on Jones Ridge. Visitation is after 6:00 P.M. Wednesday and anytime Thursday.
Pallbearers will be Dennis Hawkins, Wayne Black, Jr. Johnson, Marion Caudill, Butch Kelsey, Millard Anderson, Jay Caudill, Corey Kelsey and Jeremy Jent.
Avonell H. Moore
1928-2007
OHIO - Avonell H. Moore, 78, of Xenia, passed away Sunday, April 29, 2007, at Greene Memorial Hospital. She was born June 16, 1928, in Haldeman, KY., the daughter of Clarence E. and Ada Lewis Horton. She was a member of the Apostolic Church of Xenia.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas E. Moore, a daughter and son-in-law, Gay (Jerome) Smith, Xenia, a son and Daughter-in-law, Gary T. (Reeta) Moore, Xenia, two grandchildren, G. Todd Moore and Monica (Thadd) Fiala, step-son, Jerome Smith, Jr., and a sister, Sue (Ellis) Kidd, Morehead, KY. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Spears and Wilma Ruth Horton, and by a brother, Clarence E. Horton, Jr.
Services were held at 11am, Thursday, May 3, 2007, at the Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St., Xenia, with Pastor Victor Vera officiating. Burial in Woodland Cemetery, Xenia.
Beulah Skaggs Reynolds
1928-2007
MOREHEAD - Beulah Skaggs Reynolds, age 78, of Reynolds Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2007, at her residence after a long illness. She was born May 9, 1928, in Elliott County, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late Robert E. and Maude Sparks Skaggs. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Earl H. Reynolds; two infant children, Carolyn and Ricky; six sisters; and one brother.
Mrs. Reynolds is survived by three daughters, Lynda Reynolds of Morehead, Kentucky, Karen North (and husband Mike) of Morehead, Kentucky, and Betty Denham of Lexington, Kentucky; four sons, Edwin Reynolds of Salt Lick, Kentucky, Danny Reynolds (and wife Sharon) of Morehead, Kentucky, Donny Reynolds of Morehead, Kentucky, and Earl Reynolds Jr. (and wife Janet) of Lexington, Kentucky.
Also surviving are five grandchildren, Ellie Benenhaley (and husband Perry) of Sumter, South Carolina, Tina Johnson (and husband David) of Morehead, Kentucky, Lynn Hunt (and husband Jason) of Salt Lick, Kentucky, Alissa Denham of Lexington, Kentucky, and Matthew Earl Reynolds of Morehead, Kentucky; and six great-grandchildren, Ashley Reynolds, Dustin Benenhaley, Christine Benenhaley, Jessica Johnson, Noah Hunt and Kash Hunt.
Beulah was a faithful servant of God for over 50 years and was a member of the Clearfield First Church of God Tabernacle.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 5, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Cecil Ison and the Rev. Gary McQuain officiating; burial will follow in the Reynolds Cemetery in Carter County. Pallbearers will be Edwin Reynolds, Danny Reynolds, Donny Reynolds, Earl Reynolds, Jr., Mike North, and Jason Hunt.
Visitation is after 6 p.m. Friday at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
Robert J. Steagall
1941-2007
MOREHEAD – Robert J. “Bob” Steagall, 66, of Cranston Road passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at his residence.
He was born on March 19, 1941 in Rowan County, Kentucky, a son of the late Oll Steagall and Dolly Stacy Steagall.
Mr. Steagall was a retired sawmill and construction worker.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Plank.
Survivors include two nephews, Jerry Plank and his wife, Jennifer of Wilmington, Ohio and Denver Plank of Dayton, Ohio and several distant relatives, close friends and neighbors.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, May 5, 2007 at the Adams-Plank Cemetery with Rev. Don Rivers officiating. Visitation at Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home is after noon Saturday.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
