1946-2007
FLEMINGSBURG – Cecil Adrian Taylor, 60, of Louisville, formerly of Maysville, passed away Monday, April 30, 2007. He was born in Maysville on Aug. 20, 1946 to the late Robert B. and Irene Miller Taylor.
He was formerly employed at Browning Manufacturing Company.
Surviving are his wife, Linda K. Taylor of Louisville; one daughter, Shannon M. Taylor of Louisville; one son, Robert Shane Taylor of Morehead; one granddaughter, Ashley Taylor; and one grandson, Robert Bradley Taylor.
Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Friday, May 4 at the Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Murray officiating. Burial at the Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
Janet Gabriel Turner
1959-2007
CAMPTON – Janet Marie Gabriel Turner of Campton, 47, beloved wife of Stanley Thomas Turner, and loving mother of Janna Marie Turner, died Thursday, April 26, 2007.
She was born in Pennsylvania on June 1, 1959 to the late Robert Gabriel and Martha Gabriel Miller.
She attended Penn State, the University of Oklahoma and received her graduate degree from the University of Pittsburg, and was involved in a number of local organizations. She was a former basketball coach at Morehead State University.
She is survived by her husband and daughter, Stanley Thomas Turner and Janna Marie Turner, both of Campton; her mother, Martha Gabriel Miller of Sayer, Penn.; two sisters, Marianne Manning of Glenn Burnie, Md., and Renee Johnson of Waverly, N.Y.; her mother and father-in-law, Norma and Stanley Turner of Wilder; one brother-in-law and his wife, James and Carol Turner of Morehead; three nieces; three nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Gabriel.
Funeral services were held Sunday, April 29 at the Campton First Church of God with the Rev. David Neace officiating. The Porter & Son Funeral Directors was in charge of arrangements.
Loraine Hicks Igo
1931-2007
MOREHEAD - Loraine Hicks Igo, age 75, formerly of Divide Hill Apartments, Morehead, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2007, at the Crystal Care Nursing Home in Ashland, Ohio. Born May 3, 1931, in Rowan County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late George Alfred Hicks and Laura Belle Hicks Murdy.
She is survived by two sisters, Rosella Burns of Ashland, Ohio, and Evaline Kiser of Clearfield, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 21, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Harley Sexton, Jr. officiating; burial will follow in the Baldridge Cemetery at Clearfield. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Tuesday, February 20, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
Bill Lane
William C. "Bill" Lane, Jr., 86, of Little Road, Morehead, passed away Monday morning at the St. Claire Regional Medical Center.
He was the husband of Ezelle Flannery Lane and the father of Bill Lane of North Carolina and Drew Lane of Somerset.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home.
Lester Plank
1932-2007
MOREHEAD - Lester Plank, age 74, of Dewitt Drive, Dayton, Ohio, passed away Friday, February 16, 2007, at Harborside Healthcare in New Lebanon, Ohio. Born October 27, 1932, in Morehead, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Leonard Plank and Cora Lee Brown Plank. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four siblings, Robert Plank, Raymond Plank, Agnes Burke and Ann Whellen.
Lester is survived by his wife of 24 years, Viola Allen Plank; two sons, Denver Plank of Dayton, Ohio and Jerry Plank and wife Jennifer of Wilmington, Ohio; one stepson, Douglas Abner and wife Darlene of Portsmouth, Ohio; and three step grandchildren.
Lester was a long-time employee of NCR in Dayton, Ohio.
Funeral services were conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, February 18, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Don Rivers officiating; burial was in the Adams-Plank Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ronnie Hicks, Wes Abner, Curtis Plank, Jimmy Hosier, Rocky Stacy, and Ott Stacy. Arrangements under the direction of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
Zada Bowling Caskey
1919-2007
MOREHEAD - Zada Bowling Caskey, age 87, of U.S. 60 East, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Monday, March 19, 2007, at the Life Care Center in Morehead. She was born August 30, 1919, in Rowan County, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late Sanford and Bessie Christian Bowling. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Evalee Gulley, on December 18, 2005, and her husband, Lester Caskey, on September 23, 1965.
She is survived by two sons, Sonny Caskey and L. J. Caskey, both of Morehead; three daughters, Sharon Fackler of Morehead, Lana Craig of Hartselle, Alabama, and Linda Dillon of Morehead; one stepdaughter, Billie Jean Clayton of Morehead; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Caskey was a retired business merchant and a member of the First Church of God.
Funeral services were conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, March 22, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Allan Hutchinson officiating. Burial was in Lee Cemetery. Grandsons Damon Caskey, Lesley Caskey, Chris Caskey, Nathan Dillon, Shannon Day, Rob Day and Dr. Clarence G. Clayton will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation was Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals. Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International.
Ethel May Hayes
1940-2007
SALT LICK - Ethel May Hayes, 66, of South KY 211 in Salt Lick died after an extended illness on Friday, March 16 at St. Claire Medical Center in Morehead.
She was born Dec. 9, 1940 in Salt Lick to the late Berlie and Amanda Sparks Roberson. Mrs. Hayes was a member of the Mud Lick Church of God. She worked in the AO Smith factory before retirement.
Preceding Mrs. Hayes in death were her husband Bryan Hayes Jr., two granddaughters Amanda and Hannah, and three brothers Clayton, Kenneth, and Lester Roberson.
Survivors include one daughter, Debbie Donohew Young (and Frank Young) of Morehead; one grandchild, Chassity Fair; two step-grandchildren, Jennifer Hamilton and Erin Young; two sisters, Deloers Shrout of Frenchburg and Brenda Martin of Salt Lick; and three brothers, Glendale Roberson of Muncie, Ind., Vernon Roberson of Muncie, Ind., and Russell Gene Roberson of Olympia.
Funeral was held at Mud Lick Church of God on Monday, March 19 with Mark Caldwell and Jerry Williams officiating. Burial followed at Upper Salt Lick Cemetery in Salt Lick. Pallbearers were friends and relatives.
Emma Mae Saunders Humphries
1913-2007
MOREHEAD - Emma Mae Saunders Humphries, age 93, of Days Mill Road, Hillsboro, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at the Fleming County Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. Born April 14, 1913, in Fleming County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late John W. (Jack) and Nora Ann Dailey Saunders. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Curtis Lee Saunders. Her husband, Luther James Humphries passed away July 12, 1990.
Mrs. Humphries is survived by one daughter, Shirley Ann Humphries of Hillsboro, Kentucky; six sons, James Paul Humphries, William Earl Humphries, Harold Ray Humphries, Donald Lewis Humphries and Nelson Wayne Humphries, all of Hillsboro, Kentucky, and Noel Lee Humphries of Milford, Ohio; two sisters, Christine Thomas of Sharpsburg, Kentucky, and Viola McKee of Flemingsburg, Kentucky; 8 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; and 12 step-great grandchildren.
She was a homemaker and was of the Christian Faith.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, March 24, 2007, at Hutton Funeral Home with the Rev. Gaylord Gillispie officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Humphries, Travis Humphries, Chad Humphries, Scott Harber, Jared Muse, Scott Williams, and Vernon Thomas.
Visitation is after 6 p.m. Friday, March 23, 2007, at Hutton Funeral Home, Hillsboro, Kentucky.
Ronnie Clinton Lewis
1937 – 2007
MOREHEAD – Ronnie Clinton Lewis, 69, of Elliottville, Kentucky passed away Monday, March 19, 2007 at his residence.
He was born on July 10, 1937 in Rowan County, Kentucky, a son of the late Curtis E. and Lucy Lambert Lewis.
Clinton graduated from Morehead High School, attended Morehead College, worked for a short time in Michigan, and went into Service. He served at Fort Knox, Kentucky, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland and was with B Company 124th Ordnance at Fort Hood, Texas where he qualified as a competitive sharp-shooter, winning several trophies. After Service, he was needed in the general merchandise store in Elliottville, where he helped his parents until they retired and then he managed it until he had to retire because of health problems. He was saved September 1987 and was proud to be a member of the Elliottville Baptist Church. As his health improved, he became a “fixture” at the summer church softball league, playing until last summer, almost making his goal of playing until he was 70 years old.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Lencil Eugene Lewis who passed away on August 18, 1998, Winford Eldean Lewis who passed away on August 7, 2006 and Alton Lewis who passed away on April 13, 1939.
Survivors include one sister, Juanita Marlene Turner of Elliottville, two sisters-in-law, Laura Lewis of Morehead and Iloma Lewis of Sunman, Indiana and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Clinton was married
and divorced three times and there were no children.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Friday, March 23, 2007 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow in the Williams-Turner Cemetery at Elliottville. Full military rites will be conducted at the graveside by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Visitation is from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. Thursday.
Pallbearers will be Donald Lewis, Dan Turner, Ricky Manns, Clayton Lewis, Denver Lewis and Vernon Lewis.
