Norma Jean Burrows Curtis
1929-2006

MOREHEAD - Norma Jean Burrows Curtis, age 76, of Barber Road, Clearfield, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2006, at her residence. Born November 8, 1929, in Rowan County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Gerald James Burrows and Mary Alice Cassity Burrows. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Warren Edward and Frederick Gerald Burrows. Her husband, William Samuel (Bill) Curtis, passed away May 30, 1987.

She is survived by three sons-Gerald Lee Curtis and his wife Rita of Sandusky, Ohio; William Estill Curtis of Morehead, Kentucky; and Clark Edward Curtis and his wife Debbie of Clearfield, Kentucky; one daughter-Mary Louise Curtis Hinton and her husband Kris Navarre of Clearfield, Kentucky; two brothers-Kermit Burrows and his wife Charlotte of Clarksville, Ohio and James Russell Burrows and his wife Janet of Springfield, Ohio; two sisters-Freida Ann Fultz-Dear and her husband Charlie of Melbourne, Florida and Patricia Jo Hogge and her husband Arnold of West Union, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are special friends Jerry and Pam Sorrell and Leslie and Allen Stevens.

Jean was a homemaker and for 15 years worked at Daniel Boone Convalescent Center of Morehead. She was a member of Farmers Christian Church.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, November 4, 2006, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Billy Noble officiating; burial will follow in the Purvis Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Burrows, Chuck Fultz, Kevin Hogge, Joe-Joe Curtis, Kris Navarre, Chris Hamm, and Jason Curtis. Visitation is after 4 p.m. Friday, November 3, 2006, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Elsie Marie Workman Jones
1921-2006

MOREHEAD - Elsie Marie Workman Jones, age 85, of Lambert Hollow Road, Clearfield, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2006, at the West Liberty Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in West Liberty, Kentucky. She was born August 14, 1921, in Rowan County, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late Van and Mary Mann Workman. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Casey Jones on December 12, 1987.

Mrs. Jones is survived by three sons-David Jones of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, Van Jones of Cairo, Michigan, and Ricky Jones of Clearfield, Kentucky; five daughters-Evalyn Wright of Alexandria, Arkansas, Deloris Lowe of Morehead, Kentucky, Brenda Kay Russell of Danville, Indiana, Regina Markham of Alexandria, Arkansas, and Lurlene Parker of Clearfield, Kentucky; two brothers-George Workman of Clearfield, Ohio, and Cecil Workman of Shelby, Ohio; and three sisters-Icie Caskey of Jackson, Ohio, Elizabeth Jennings and Phyllis Workman, both of Shelby, Ohio; 43 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great grandchildren.

Mrs. Jones was a former employee of the Dollar Store and Pasquales.

Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Saturday, November 4, 2006, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals with the Rev. Carlos Bowman officiating; burial will follow in the Baldridge Cemetery at Clearfield. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Friday, November 3, 2006, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Bill “Red” Stone

TENN. – Mr. Bill “Red” Stone, age 78, of the South Ridge Avenue in Rockwood, passed away suddenly Friday afternoon in the Baptist Hospital West in Knoxville. He was of the Baptist faith; a US Army Veteran of the Korean War; and was preceded in death by his wife, June Stone; his parents, two brothers and one sister.

Survivors include: daughter Sandra Ayers (Tony) of Seymour, son David Stone (Lesia) of Morehead, Kentucky, grandchildren Jennifer Bryant, Jeff Morris, Harrison Stone and Libby Stone, great-grandchildren Kristin Bryant, Tim Morris and Ben Bryant, several nieces and nephews, brother Bob Stone (Ann) of Mount Juliet, sisters Edna Bardill of Kingston, Velma McCollum (George) of Athens, Pat Johnson (Roy) of Kingston, Mary Keeney (Bobby) of Soddy Daisy.

Funeral services were conducted Monday at 8:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Evans Mortuary with Rev. Charles Kelly officiating. Interment was Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. in the Roane Memorial Gardens with full military honors by the Roane County Military Memorial Honor Guard.

Evans Mortuary is serving the family of Mr. Bill “Red” Stone.

William Bert Click
1926-2007

MOREHEAD - William Bert Click, 80, of Haldeman, Kentucky, passed away Thursday morning, March 1, 2007, at his home. He was born in Rowan County, Kentucky, on April 13, 1926, and was the son of the late John Click, Sr. and Maggie Barricks Click. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was retired from LTV Steel in East Chicago, Indiana. He was a charter member of the Hayes Crossing-Haldeman Fire Department and was a Kentucky Colonel.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Chester Click, Charles Click, Billy Click, and Don Click; one sister, Gloria Click; and a son-in-law, Frank Fiarito.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Wilma Lucas Click; four daughters, Linda Thornsbury (Don) of Catlettsburg, KY, Brenda Richards (Bill) of Chicago, IL, Nancy Carol Gauze (J.R.) of Salt Lick, KY, and Janet Stilley (Terry) of Mt. Vernon, IN; ten grandchildren, Jim Pierce (Julie), Cheri Marliere (Al), Shannon Weil (Kameron), Jeremy Redd (Katie), Tyler Thornsbury (Leanne), Matthew Redd (Andrea), Evan Baize (Candy), Hannah Redd, Rachel Stilley, and Jonathan Stilley; 10 great-grandchildren, Lucas Pierce, Brenna Olson, Kaitlyn Thornsbury, Quinn Weil, Alivia Marliere, Samantha Redd, Madeline Pierce, Carter Weil, Zach Howell and Josh Howell; and his special little dog, Shadow.

He is also survived by one brother, John Click, Jr. (Betty) of Valparaiso, IN; three sisters, Madge Riddle of Norwood, OH, Mildred Evans (Elwood) of New Castle, IN, and Juanita Stevens (Billy Joe) of Columbus, OH; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, March 4, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Elwood Evans officiating. Burial will be in the Click Cemetery at Haldeman with full military rites conducted by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Hayes Crossing-Haldeman Fire Department. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Brenda Thompson McIntosh
1950-2007

MOREHEAD - Brenda Thompson McIntosh, age 57, of Chestnut Road, Hillsboro, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2007, at the Cleveland Clinic. Born January 23, 1950, in Jackson, Kentucky, she is the daughter of Emma Combs Thompson of Jackson, Kentucky, and the late Preston Thompson. Besides her father, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Bedford Thompson and Preston Thompson Jr.

She is survived by her husband, Charles D. McIntosh, and one sister, Della Marie Turner of Wadsworth, Ohio.

A graduate of Jackson High School, Mrs. McIntosh received the bachelor’s degree from Eastern Kentucky University and the master’s degree from Northern Kentucky University. She was retired from Newport Independent Schools as a middle school language arts teacher.

Mrs. McIntosh was past matron and an associate matron of Morehead Order of the Eastern Star, No. 227.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. James E. DeAtley officiating. Burial will follow in the McIntosh Cemetery in Owsley County, Kentucky. Serving as pallbearers are Charles Thompson, Gary Thompson, Rick Whelan, Jeff Oswalt, John Thompson, and James Thompson.

Visitation is Friday, March 2, 2007, after 5 p.m. at Northcutt and Son Home for Funerals. Eastern Star services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday by the Morehead Order of the Eastern Star, No. 227, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Rhonda Clevenger Thompson
1968-2007

MOREHEAD - Rhonda Clevenger Thompson, age 38, of Jackson Cemetery Road, Hillsboro, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2007, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky. Born September 1, 1968, in Rowan County, Kentucky, she is the daughter of Lyle and Linda Smith Clevenger of Sandy Hook, Kentucky. Besides her parents, Rhonda is survived by her husband, John R. Thompson; one son, Dustin Thompson and one daughter, Lawinda Thompson, both at home.

Rhonda was a graduate of Elliott County High School and a homemaker.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Glenn Day officiating; burial will follow in the Masters Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be John Riley, Tim Thompson, Matt Thompson, John Kelsey, John Simmons, and Terry Brown.

Visitation is after 6 p.m. Friday, March 2, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Emma Lucille Snipes Alderman
1934-2007

MOREHEAD - Emma Lucille Snipes Alderman, age 72, of McBrayer Road, Clearfield, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2007, at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. She was born May 6, 1934, in Carter County, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late Callie and Geneva Evalyn Cole Snipes. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, John Snipes, and one sister, Carrie Church. Her husband, Richard Alderman, passed away March 7, 1995.

Mrs. Alderman is survived by one son, Jerry Alderman and his wife Brenda; two daughters, Carol Barker and her husband Jeff, and JoAnn Campbell and her husband Mort, all of Morehead, Kentucky; seven grandchildren, Matthew Alderman, Rachel Barker, Sarah Barker, Brandon Black, Price Campbell, Kirstian Campbell, and Christy Campbell; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Vernon Snipes of Anchorage, Alaska, Burl Snipes of Winslow, Indiana, Billy Snipes of Morehead, Kentucky; and two sisters, Christine Hoffman of Batavia, Ohio, and Cloa Adams of Morehead, Kentucky.

Lucille was an employee of Cowden Manufacturing Company for 25 years and was a self-employed business owner. She had been a caregiver for the elderly and enjoyed sewing, gardening and traveling. Mrs. Alderman was a member of the Morehead First Baptist Church and attended the Bluebank First Church of God.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, March 31, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Fannin, and the Rev. Vernon Lambert officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers are Matthew Alderman, Brandon Black, Billy Snipes, Adam Snipes, John Adams, Jeff Adams, and Randy Newsome.

Visitation is after 4 p.m. Friday, March 30, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Charles Harlan Day

OHIO - Chester Harlan Day, age 88, of Reynoldsburg, peacefully went home to be with the Lord, March 20, 2007, surrounded by his loving family. He was born and raised in Soldier, Ky., and was a U.S. Army WWII Veteran. Retired Iron Workers Union Local #172 for more than 35 years. Member of Brookside Baptist Church where he proudly served as Deacon and Trustee in past years. Preceded in death by his parents, Harlis and Ira Day, infant daughter, Donna Sue Day, granddaughter, Angela Denise Baxter, and sister, Florine Whitt. Survived by loving wife of 65years, Lydia; children, Patricia (Richard) Carroll, Judy (Michael) Baxter, and William and Steven Day; grandchildren, Cheryl (Jeff) Evans, Donna (Brett) Garrett, Michelle (Jody) Capuano, Trisha (Andy) Click, Tracy, Stephanie, and Cassie Day; great grandchildren, Justin Hoyt, Adam Ganas, Marina and Mikayla Capuano, Angela and Andrew Click, and Lexie and Alex Day; brother, Gartrell Day; and sisters, Madeline Triplett and Velma Landers. Chester will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by all he touched. He was a loyal caregiver to Lydia for more than 10 years and showed deep concern for her until the end of his life. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 24, 2007 at Brookside Baptist Church, 590 Lancaster Ave. Pastor David Hunt officiating. Interment Glen Rest Memorial Estate.

Dovie Basford Plank
1939-2007

MOREHEAD - Dovie Basford Plank, age 68, of Goddard Road, Wallingford, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. Born January 15, 1939, in Rowan County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late John and Iva Braggs Basford. Her husband, Homer Lee Plank, preceded her in death on December 11, 2000.

She is survived by four sons, Anthony Plank of Frenchburg, Kentucky, Mark Plank of Wallingford, Kentucky, Jeff Plank of Hawkinsville, Georgia, and Tim Plank of Byron, Georgia; one brother, Jack Basford of Wallingford, Kentucky; two sisters, Lela Purvis and Gus Purvis, both of Sharpsburg, Kentucky; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Plank was a homemaker and former employee of A. O. Smith.

Funeral services were conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, March 24, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Brooks Karrick and Brother Roy Stacy officiating; burial was in Crown Hill Cemetery in Sharpsburg, Kentucky. In addition to her four sons, Billy Plank, Joseph Plank, and Jonathan Plank served as pallbearers. Arrangements were under the direction of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
