Dr. K. E. Jones
1922-2009
MOREHEAD – Dr. K. E. Jones, 87, passed away Sunday, November 22, 2009 in the Life Care Center after a long illness.
He was born on October 16, 1922 in Elliott County, Kentucky, a son of the late Russell and Maude McMillan Jones.
Dr. Jones was a retired chiropractor who had an office in Morehead for many years. He was a member of the Elliottville Baptist Church, a graduate of the Lincoln Chiropractic College in Indianapolis, Indiana and enjoyed tinkering with clocks. He was also a veteran of the Army Air Corps having served during the World War II era.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ernest Jones who passed away in 1994.
Survivors include his wife, Chilma Butcher Jones and his son, Ken Jones both of Morehead and one sister, Vivian Thompson of Logan, West Virginia.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at the Brown Cemetery with Dr. Jack Ellis officiating.
There is no visitation.

Hildreth C. (Hillie) McKee
1924-2009
HILLSBORO – Hildreth C. (Hillie) McKee, age 85, of Sunset Road, Hillsboro, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, November 21, 2009, at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.
Born July 8, 1924, in Fleming County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Amos and Augusta Sproles McKee.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Anna Stephens McKee, whom he married
August 9, 1954; one son, Scottie McKee and his wife Jill of Hillsboro, Kentucky; one daughter, Linda Williams and her husband Don of Owingsville, Kentucky; and six grandchildren, Erika Hunt, Joe Hunt, Austin McKee, Cole McKee, Bailey McKee, and Braydon McKee.
Also surviving are one brother, Woodie McKee of Poplar Plains, Kentucky, and one sister, Gracie Arnold of Flemingsburg, Kentucky, and his favorite dog, Aggie.
Mr. McKee served in the U.S. Army during World War II and retired from the Randall Company in Flemingsburg where he worked in the buffing room for 26 years. He was also a farmer and carpenter and attended the Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 24, 2009, at the Hutton Funeral Home in Hillsboro with the Rev. Lowell Rice and Bro. Gerald Saunders officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery with full military rites conducted by the Flemingsburg Franklin Sousley VFW Post 1834 and American Legion Post No. 5.
Pallbearers will be Robert Harmon, Donnie Harmon, Calvin Donaldson, Roy Pugh, Bill Story, Marion Story, Stevie Call, and Mike Hawkins.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dave McKee, Pete Waggoner, Bill Conway, and Jewell Call.
Visitation is after 6 p.m. Monday, November 23, 2009, at the Hutton Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
Leah Armitage Ramey
1924-2009
MOREHEAD – Leah Armitage Ramey, age 85, formerly of Pleasant Valley, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, November 21, 2009, at the Life Care Center of Morehead.
She was born February 13, 1924, in Menifee County, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late Carl and Ocie Spencer Armitage. She was also preceded in death by one grandson, Craig Baldridge; three brothers, Woodford, Donald and Stanley Armitage; and one sister, Maxine Byrd.
She is survived by her husband, Hobert Ramey, whom she married
November 8, 1945; three daughters: Karen Collins, Rosemary Jones, Erna Gay Wells and husband Bob; and one son: Gilbert Ramey, all of Morehead. Kentucky; five grandchildren: Michael and Paul Ramey, Kimberly Collins, Karla Lambert and Kari Mauk; and five great grandchildren: Laken and Chase Ramey, Karli Baldridge, Kevin and Trinity Lambert.
Also surviving are one sister, Roma Crouch of Clearfield, Kentucky, and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Ramey was a homemaker, mother, and former employee of Cowden’s Mfg., where she worked for 17 years. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, and cooking.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 24, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Rev. David Starcher, Bro. Brad Bennington, and Bro. Kenny Fouch officiating. Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation is after 4 p.m. Monday, November 23, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
Donna Jean Hatton Smedley
1962-2009
MOREHEAD – Donna Jean Hatton Smedley, 47, of Dry Creek Road, Clearfield, Kentucky, wife of Michael L. Smedley, died Friday, November 20, 2009, at her home following a three-year battle with ovarian cancer.
Born January 27, 1962, in Carlisle, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late John E. Hatton and Margaret Willoughby Hatton Moore, now of Bethel, Kentucky.
Surviving in addition to her husband and mother are four children, including three daughters, Krista Smedley of the U. S. Marine Corps, Hawaii, and Whitley and Ashley Smedley, at home; one son, C. J. Smedley, also at home; three sisters, Elizabeth Hatton of Bethel, Kentucky, Joyce Patton of Buzzard’s Roost, Kentucky, and Rita Hunt of Owingsville, Kentucky; and two brothers, Paul Hatton of Bethel, Kentucky, and Everette Hatton of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky. She also was preceded in death by a brother, John Douglas Hatton.
A graduate of Morehead State University, she was a former teacher who became a full-time homemaker and mother who home-schooled her children. She worked several years at Roses Department Store in Morehead and loved to travel and work in her garden.
An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she was a former president of the Owingsville Ward Primary. She and her husband were married
July 3, 1993, in Clearfield.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, November 24, 2009, at 2 p.m. at the Owingsville Ward on KY 36, one-half mile east of Exit 121 of I-64, with Bishop Ted Marshall officiating. Burial will follow in the Smedley Family Cemetery on Dry Creek Road in Clearfield.
Pallbearers will be Larry Moore, Brandon Riley, Everette Hatton, C. J. Smedley, Robert Thomas, James Barber, Steve McKinney, and Krista Smedley.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Monday, November 23, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead, Kentucky, and from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 24, 2009, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Owingsville.

Billy Lee Fultz
1935-2009
WASHINGTON - Billy Lee Fultz, 74, of Tacoma, Wa. passed away Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009 at St. Joseph Hospital in Tacoma, Washington.
He was born July 10, 1935 in Elliott Co., Ky. He was the son of Estall and Eva Whitt Fultz.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Avenelle Fultz, his step-father Lonnie Moore, one nephew, Russell Lee Gilliam, and one step-brother, Russell Moore.
Billy Lee is survived by two sisters, Josie Gilliam and Bessie Stevens of Morehead, Ky.; one brother, Lonnie Moore, Jr. of Sandy Hook, Ky., and one step-brother, Donald Moore of Christiansburg, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation and burial will be in the Ball Cemetery on Middle Fork in Elliott Co., Ky.
Berkley Franklin “Buck” Hall
1937-2009
OLIVE HILL - Berkley Franklin “Buck” Hall, age 72, of State Highway 1662, Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away Monday, November 02, 2009, at his residence.
Born July 18, 1937, in Carter County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Stewart and Myrtle Kiser Hall. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Clement, Finley, Artle, Courtney, Daryl, and Quinten Hall, and three sisters, Gladys Crawford, Versailla Hall, and Corinthia Hall.
Buck is survived by his wife, Joan Back Hall, whom we married
on March 23, 1962; one son, Stewart Hall and wife Norma of Lexington, Kentucky; one daughter, Lori Ann Nock and husband Tom of LaPlata, Maryland; one sister, Victoria “Skippy” Scrimshaw and husband Buck of Spokane, Washington; and six grandchildren, Sarah Nock, Kristen Nock, Bradley Nock, Amanda Hall, Heather Hall, and Amber Langley.
Buck was a former General Refractories employee and retired from Walker Construction Company after 10 years as foreman. He was a member of the Olive Hill Masonic Lodge No. 629, a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, and a member of the El Hasa Shrine Temple in Ashland, Kentucky. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, working puzzles, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday, November 5, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. John Butch Kelsey and Dallas Fraley officiating. Burial will follow in the Garvin Ridge Cemetery in Carter County.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Back, J. R. Back, Brent Back, Joey Back, Gary Back, Randy Fritz, and Dick Counts.
Visitation is after 5 p.m. Wednesday, November 4, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
