Wanda Phillips Gilliam
1926-2007

MOREHEAD - Wanda Phillips Gilliam, age 81, of Lee Avenue, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Monday, August 13, 2007, at her residence.

Born April 20, 1926, at Moon, Kentucky, in Morgan County, she was the daughter of the late Dockie Birdine Phillips and Lurana Kelley Phillips. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Willis Phillips, Wilford Phillips, and Dockie Aaron Phillips; one sister, Grace Gilliam; and one grandson, Scotty Joe Gilliam.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Olgie Gilliam; three sons, Gordon Gilliam and his wife Barbara of Lexington, Doyle Gilliam of Morehead and Gregory Joe Gilliam and his wife Becky of Morehead; 6 grandchildren, Kisha, Crystal, Jason, Alyssa, Belinda, and Johnny; and 10 great-grandchildren, Whitley, Evelyn, Felicia, Scott, Lane, Caden, Ethan, Logan, Johnathan, and Zach.

Also surviving are four brothers, Bill Phillips of Sandy Hook, Bob Phillips and his wife Barbara of Columbus, Ohio, Ron Phillips and his wife Carol and Al Phillips and his wife Lee, all of Grove City, Ohio.

Mrs. Gilliam was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. As a homemaker, she especially enjoyed sewing and cooking. She was a Christian and member of Morehead First Free Will Baptist Church. She was also a Kentucky Colonel.

Funeral services were conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, August 16, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. David Starcher officiating. Burial was in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers were Clay Lyon, Ralph Lyon, Jason Gilliam, Magnus Geijer, Sanford Bentley, Dwain Wilson, and Tim Hamilton.

Visitation was Wednesday, August 15, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Evelyn Hamm Withrow
1910-2007

OHIO - WITHROW, Evelyn Hamm, born August 26, 1910, died August 10, 2007 at Crestview Manor in Beavercreek, Ohio. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Hamm. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Nancy (Catron) Hamm; brothers, Teddy Hamm, Harlan “T” Hamm, and Willie Irvin Hamm; sister, Sylvia Hamm Lewis; also sons, Delmar and Hubert. Evelyn was a mother to M.L. (Shirley) of Kettering, OH, Ronald (Faye) of Beavercreek, OH, Marjorie (Bill) Madewell of Huber Heights, OH; sister to Lena Hamm Boyd and Roy Boyd of Morehead, KY and Frieda Hamm Ruggeri and Raphael (Jerri) Ruggeri of Desert Hot Springs, CA; grandmother to 17 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and 7 great great grandchildren. Evelyn is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was a teacher in the Rowan County School System, teaching in a one-room school house and retired from Moraine Products. She had been a member of Eastern Star in Beavercreek, OH. She was a member of the Clearfield Tabernacle in Clearfield, KY. She loved Family Reunions, photography, yellow roses, Jesse Stuart, Johnny Cash and most of all, her family. Evelyn will continue educating students at Wright State University, where she has donated her body to medical science. She will be lovingly missed. Memorial services will be 7:00 PM Monday, August 20, 2007 at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-BEAVERCREEK CHAPEL, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Rd. Her family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until the time of service Monday at the funeral home. Evelyn’s family would like to thank Hospice for the care they gave during her last few days. Mr. Thomas William Goodman Jr.
Age: 72
Visitation: The visitation will be at Johnson Memorial Park Friday beginning at 10:30 A.M.
Funeral Service: The funeral service will be at the O.T. Hinton Mausoleum at Johnson Memorial Park in Pikeville, Kentucky at 11:00 A.M. Friday August 7, 2015.
Interment: Entombment will follow.

Thomas William Goodman Jr., age 72, passed away Wednesday August 5, 2015 at 9:33 P.M., while a patient at the Pikeville Medical Center.

Mr. Goodman was born December 7, 1942 in Prestonsburg, Kentucky the son of the late Thomas William Goodman Sr.and Christine Preston Goodman.

Thomas served in the army and was a devout booster of the Arkansas Alumni Association and was an attorney who practiced law for 35 years.

Survivors include 3 sons:

Chase Preston Goodman and his wife Raquel of Pikeville, Kentucky, Christopher Hudson Goodman of Los Angeles, California, and Thomas William Goodman III of Michigan. He also has two grandsons, Stone Preston Goodman and Chaseton Thayer Goodman.

The funeral service will take place at the O.T. Hinton Mausoleum at Johnson Memorial Park in Pikeville, Kentucky Friday at 11:00 A.M. Visitation begins at 10:30 A.M. Friday at the Cemetery.

Gary Dale Wright
1946-2007

MOREHEAD - Gary Dale Wright, age 59, of South Lane, Morehead, Kentucky, passed gently from this world into the next at home Tuesday, August 7, 2007.

He was a retired boilermaker with Local 105 in Piketon, Ohio, a Mason at Elkfork Lodge and served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard for four years. He was a wonderful Dad and friend.

Born December 11, 1946, in Morgan County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Kelly M. and Dorothy E. Ward Wright. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly Jean Wright. He is survived by his daughter, Rana M. Benson of Morehead, other family and friends.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, August 18, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel. Interment will be at the Bascom-Hutchinson Cemetery at Crockett, Kentucky.

Stephen Douglas Caudill
1923-2007

OHIO - Stephen Douglas Caudill, 84, of Mansfield, died September 20, 2007 at his home after a long illness. Born February 10, 1923 in Morehead, Kentucky, he was the son of James W. and Maggie (Brown) Caudill. He retired in 1985 from Copperweld. Mr. Caudill was an active member of Journey Life Center, where he received a Life Time Achievement Award and was the church bus driver. Mr. Caudill was also a self employed carpenter and resident carpenter of the church. He built barns all through Kentucky and was also a foster parent.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Morris Perkins) Caudill; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Donna, Thomas and Cynthia, and Gary and Paulina Caudill, all of Mansfield; stepdaughter and caregiver, Missy Ramsey of Mansfield; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; three sisters, Ruby Terrell, Betty Gibson, and Ida Belle Dillon, all of Morehead, Kentucky; and special friend, Noah Prince. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Maxine (Perkins) Caudill; daughter, Pauline Caudill; foster son, Carl Blakeman; sister, Jewell Bolenbaugh of Aberdeen, Ohio in May of 2007; and several infant brothers and sisters.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday at Journey Life Center conducted by Dr. Bruce Philippi and Rev. Clifford Earl Tackett. Burial followed in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation. Online guest registry at www.wappner.com.

Donald Keeton
1945-2007

MOREHEAD - Donald Eugene Keeton, age 62, of Templeman Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Friday, September 21, 2007, at his residence.

He was born July 7, 1945, in Rowan County, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Allen Richard and Florence Mae Kidd Keeton. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Jimmy Ray Keeton, in December 1944.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Lou Thornsberry Keeton; one son, the Rev. David Allen Keeton of Morehead, Kentucky; three daughters, Mary Jane Martin of Cincinnati, Ohio, Angela Botts Cundiff of Winchester, Kentucky, Heather Gibson of Morehead, Kentucky; and four grandchildren, Tyler Blake Keeton, Kellie Anne Martin, Tristan Eugene Bruce Cundiff, and Trevor Layne Gibson.

Additional survivors include three brothers, Larry Keeton of Brinegar, Kentucky, Ronald Keeton of Manitou Beach, Michigan, and David Keeton of Salt Lick, Kentucky; and six sisters, Wanda Copher of Clearfield, Kentucky, Carolyn Jones of Salt Lick, Kentucky, Linda Moore of Springtown, Texas, Eula Dillon of Clearfield, Kentucky, Brenda Lewis of Morehead, Kentucky, and Karen Jane Winkleman of Morehead, Kentucky.

He was a heavy equipment operator with Dave Braughler Construction Company and Judy Construction. Donald enjoyed hunting, horseback riding, and farming. He played with the Soldiers for Christ gospel band and was a member of the New Horizon Fellowship Church.

Funeral services were conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, September 23, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Rev. Richard Ingles and Rev. Clark Thomas officiating. Burial was in the Hamilton Cemetery on Christy Creek.

Pallbearers were Jimmy Keeton, Brian Keeton, Jim Cundiff, Matthew Lipps, Chris Lewis, Rodney Shepherd, David Keeton, Jr., Travis Gibson, and Phillip Keeton.

Visitation was after 5 p.m. Saturday, September 22, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

James Paul Pruitt, Sr.
Age: 93
Visitation: Visitation will be in the J.W. Call Funeral Home Chapel after 6 p.m. Thursday.
Funeral Service: Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 29, 2011 at the J.W. Call Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brad Smart officiating.
Interment: Burial will follow in the Layne Family Cemetery at Betsy Layne, Ky. Military Rites will be conducted by the Johns Creek D.A.V. Chapter 166.

James Paul Pruitt, Sr., age 93 of Pikeville, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2011 at the Parkview Nursing Home in Pikeville.

He was a garage foreman for the Kentucky Department of Transportation and a salesman with Sears, he was also co-owner of the Chevy Drive Inn. He was a member of the Pikeville United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Navy, he received the Presidential unit citation. He was a member of the D.A.V.

Paul was born in Pike County, Kentucky on November 6, 1917 the son of the late John Wilburn and Victoria Smith Pruitt.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 75 years, Zella Mae Layne Pruitt on June 8, 2010 and one son, Bobby Pruitt. He was also preceded in death by six brothers, Andrew Pruitt, Ervin S. Pruitt, Trimble Pruitt, Claude Pruitt, Frank Pruitt and Marvin Pruitt and one sister, Maude Steele.

He is survived by one son, James P. Pruitt, Jr. and his wife, Jane of Pikeville and two grandsons, Jonathan Pruitt and his wife, Reagan and Michael Pruitt.

He is also survived by one great-grandchild, Harper Pruitt.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Gary K. Justice, John Baird, Jeff Meek, David Pruitt, Jr., Bobby Cunningham, Randy Hayes, Michael DeBourbon, Steve Pruitt, David Pruitt, Jonathan Pruitt, Michael Pruitt, Orris Hayes, Wayne Hayes, Herbie Deskins and Dolph Kelly.
