Rena Stidham Thornsberry Fultz
1913 - 2007
MOREHEAD - Rena Stidham Thornsberry Fultz, age 93, of Morehead, passed away Saturday evening in the Life Care Center after an extended illness. She was born December 7, 1913 in Rowan County, Kentucky and was the daughter of the late Albert and Laura Adams Stidham.
Mrs. Fultz attended the East End Church of God, enjoyed being a homemaker, mother, raising a garden and cooking.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Virgil Thornsberry and Harlan Fultz, one son, Dale Thornsberry. Two sisters, Bertha Pelfrey and Ethel Stidham, three brothers, William Cecil Stidham, Ora Stidham and Orville Stidham.
Survivors include three sons, Delbert Thornsberry and Donald Thornsberry of Morehead, Kenneth Thornsberry of South Vienna, Ohio. Eight Grandchildren and Eight Great-Grandchildren. Also, several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2007 at Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Dr. Jack Ellis officiating. Burial followed in the Williams-Turner Cemetery at Elliottville. Serving as pallbearers were Michael Thornsberry, Douglas Thornsberry, Donald McBrayer, Glenn Williams Ray Bailey and Chester Oldfield.
Gordon Kendall
1921-2007
MOREHEAD - Gordon Kendall, age 86, of U.S. 60 East, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Monday, September 3, 2007, at the St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. He was born July 24, 1921, in Downham, Norfolk, England, to George and Clara Bywater Kendall.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Amanda Frances Stevens Kendall, whom he wed in Brooklyn, New York, on August 17, 1944. Other survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Kathie Kendall of Waleska, Georgia, and Richard and Linda Kendall of Russell, Kentucky; one brother, John Kendall of Kings Lynn, Norfolk, England; one sister, Joan Marshall of Knaresborough, Yorkshire, England; 7 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Kendall served in the Royal British Army during World War II from 1939 to 1946. He came to Morehead, Kentucky, hometown of his wife, in 1947 and became an American citizen in 1952. He retired from Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Corporation in Ravenswood, West Virginia. He attended the Rodburn Church of God.
Funeral services were conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, September 6, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Larry Arbaugh and Pastor Roger Cummins officiating. Burial was in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Rick Kendall, Mark Kendall, Rodney Hobgood, Lyle Looper, Lee Smith, Austin Williams, Scott Williams, Charlie Messer, and Rick Messer.
Visitation was Thursday at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
Virgil “Stonewall” Marion Bibee
1938-2009
MOREHEAD – Virgil “Stonewall” Marion Bibee, age 70, of Lambert Hollow, Clearfield, Kentucky, passed away Monday, April 27, 2009, at his residence.
He was born December 10, 1938, in Robertson County, Tennessee, and was the son of the late Louis Franklin and Annie Eva Morris Bibee. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Elizabeth Carroll.
He is survived by two daughters, Selena Bibee and Bill Stiltner of Morehead, Kentucky, and Shana Skeens and husband Randy of Salt Lick, Kentucky; four brothers, G. F. Clifford Bibee and wife Maryann of Belleville, Illinois, Richard H. Bibee of Greenbrier, Tennessee, Leroy W. Bibee and wife Silva of Springfield, Tennessee, and Silas Burns Bibee and wife Rowena of Ashburnham, Massachusetts; and five grandchildren.
Mr. Bibee served in the U. S. Air Force and was a self-employed lawn care specialist. He enjoyed gardening and making Bibee’s Bar-B-Que.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, May 1, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. David Adams officiating. Burial will follow in the Caudill Cemetery, West Main Street, Morehead.
Visitation is after 5 p.m. Thursday, April 30, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Victor Raymond McKenzie
1931-2009
MOREHEAD – Victor Raymond McKenzie, age 77, of Naples, Florida, passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at the Naples Community Hospital in Naples, Florida.
Born May 3, 1931, in Mount Sterling, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Carl and Eve Pitts McKenzie.
He is survived by three children, Lonnie Keith McKenzie, Brian McKenzie, and Debbie Kay McKenzie, all of Middletown, Ohio; one sister, Essie Lovely and husband Rev. Bernard Lovely of Morehead, Kentucky; and five grandchildren.
Mr. McKenzie served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era and was a retired union carpenter.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, May 2, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Ben Furman and Rev. Lowell Rice officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Seth Richardson, John Holbrook, Brian McKenzie, Lance Lovely, Eric Lovely, Samuel Hargis, and David Lovely.
Visitation is after 5 p.m. Friday, May 1, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Juanita Saunders
1915-2009
FLEMINGSBURG - Juanita Saunders, age 93, of Pioneer Trace Nursing Home, Flemingsburg, Kentucky, died on Monday, April 27, 2009.
Ms. Saunders was born November 28, 1915, in Fleming County, Kentucky, the daughter of Alvin T. Saunders and Lillie Nealis Saunders. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, James Saunders and Alvin W. Saunders; two sisters, Mildred Teater and Eldiva Wood; and a nephew, Paul Saunders.
She is survived by a sister, Olive Waterman of Norman, Oklahoma; nephews, James Saunders, Donald Saunders, and Gerald Saunders; and her longtime caregiver, Mabel Hamilton.
Graveside services were held 11 a.m. Thursday, April 20, 2009, at the Hillsboro Cemetery with the Rev. Marvin W. Suit officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of Hutton Funeral Home, Hillsboro, Kentucky.
Helen Pruitt Johnson McBrayer
1924-2007
MOREHEAD - Helen Pruitt Johnson McBrayer, age 83, of Meadow Lane, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, September 4, 2007, at the St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.
She was born August 31, 1924, in New Boston, Ohio, and was the daughter of the late Wallace Lee and Carrie Adams Pruitt. Helen and her parents moved to Ashland, Kentucky, when she was an infant and she was raised there.
Helen attended Berea College, graduated from Morehead State University with a Master of Education degree, and completed additional graduate hours at Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio, and Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. A public school teacher and administrator for many years, Helen retired from the Middletown, Ohio, school system.
Her first husband, the late Rev. Ramah Johnson, was a former pastor of various churches in Kentucky, Indiana, and Ohio, and Helen was a former missionary to the West Indies (affiliated with the First Church of God, Anderson, IN headquarters).
After her marriage to James Earl McBrayer, Helen became very active in the Morehead First Church of God and the community. A devoted Christian, she was a Sunday school teacher, a member of the Board of Trustees of the church, and held various offices in Women of the Church of God. She was a member of the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association and Kappa Delta Pi (honor society in education). Her husband, James Earl McBrayer, a well-known businessman and community leader, preceded her in death on January 28, 2002.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Mrs. McBrayer was preceded in death by one sister, Dixie L. Swift, and two stepchildren, Phyllis McBrayer Dixon and Hildreth McBrayer Chapman.
Survivors include two sisters, Jo Ann Ramey of Ashland, Kentucky, and Judy (David) Hill of South Carolina; three nieces, Kevin (Ed) Frame, Leslye (Randy) Mason, Susan (Mike) Reliford, all of Ashland, Kentucky; three nephews, Kyle Ramey, Charles R. “Chuck” Ramey and Grant Ramey, all of Ashland, Kentucky; and several great nieces and nephews.
Also surviving are four step-children, Pauline McBrayer Ellington of North Carolina, Jack McBrayer of Morehead, Kentucky, Frances McBrayer Ausbun of Indiana, Phil McBrayer of Lexington, Kentucky; 18 step-grandchildren; and 36 step-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, September 7, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Allan Hutchinson, Dr. John Conley, the Rev. Brian McBrayer, and the Rev. Carolyn DeHoff officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Ashland, Kentucky.
Pallbearers will be Randy Mason, Charles R. “Chuck” Ramey, Kyle Ramey, Eddie Frame, and Mike Reliford. Honorary pallbearers will be the men and women of the Morehead First Church of God.
Visitation is after 5 p.m. Thursday, September 6, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

John Paul (Johnny) Reeder
1925-2007
MOREHEAD - John Paul (Johnny) Reeder, age 82, of Lanark Village, Florida, passed away Sunday, September 2, 2007, at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington.
Born July 10, 1925, in Carter County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late John William and Nettie Bowen Reeder. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Vernon D. Reeder, James R. Reeder, St. Clair Reeder, and Blanchard Reeder, and two sisters, Vada Sculley and Opal Dozier.
Johnny’s wife, Hazel (Pete) Johnson Reeder, preceded him in death on March 30, 2004.
Survivors include two daughters, Pat McAdams and husband Robert of Corydon, Indiana, and Joy Reeder of Corydon, Indiana; two grandsons, Shane and Bobbie Bowman of Winchester, Kentucky, and Richard and Leslie Bowman of Prestonsburg, Kentucky; two step-great-grandchildren, Steven Isaacs and Donovan Mullins; and two sisters, Olive Morhardt of Englewood, Florida, and Nicky Reeder of Carrabelle, Florida.
Johnny was a retired Plant Superintendent from Tenneco, Inc., where he was employed for 33 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Carrabelle, Florida, and was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army.
Graveside services will be conducted 10 a.m. Friday, September 7, 2007, at Lee Cemetery with Dr. J. D. Reeder officiating. Full military rites will be conducted by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.
Visitation is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 6, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
