Jeffery Ray Hogge
1955-2009
MOREHEAD – Jeffery Ray Hogge, age 53, of Mynhier Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2009, at his residence.
He was born July 9, 1955, in Menifee County, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Wilson and Sue Clark Hogge.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Tina Walker Hogge; two sons, Matthew Hogge of Rochester, Michigan, and Rob Hunter of Morehead, Kentucky; three daughters, Sue and Mikey Hall of Grayson, Kentucky, Brandy Hogge of Morehead, Kentucky, and Tabitha and Michael Mabry of Morehead, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Cole Lawhorn, Tray Mabry, the late Myka Mabry; and many others who called Jeff “Papaw.”
Other family includes siblings Billy Joe and Loretta Hogge of Marion, Indiana, the late Jerry Hogge and his wife Gayle Hogge of Owingsville, Kentucky, Mary Sue Crouch of Salt Lick, Kentucky, and her husband the late Gene Crouch, Kitty McQueen of Marion, Indiana, Georgie and Bill McKenzie of Morehead, Kentucky, the late Brenda Long and her husband Ray Long of Morehead, Kentucky, Peggy Hawley of Rochester, Michigan, and her husband the late Jim Hawley; other very special family members; and his late sisters, Renda Kay and Shirley Gayle Hogge.
Other very special friends are Carl and Jeannie Lawhorn (Children of My Heart), Larry Campbell, and the late Lee Melton.
Jeff loved his flea market yard sales and “buying and selling junk.”
Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Thursday, May 7, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Randall Jackson and Rev. Mark Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Larry Campbell, Carl Lawhorn, Rob Hunter, Scotty Crouch, William Copher, and David Mason.
Visitation is after 6 p.m. Tuesday, anytime Wednesday and before the service on Thursday at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Linda Isaacs Thomas
1953-2009
MOREHEAD – Linda Isaacs Thomas, age 56, of Welch Road, Jeffersonville, Kentucky, passed away Friday, May 1, 2009, at her residence.
She was born April 11, 1953, in Richmond, Kentucky, daughter of the late Raymond Isaacs, Sr., and Sally Coyle Isaacs. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Ronnie Isaacs.
Linda is survived by one daughter, Jennifer (Steve) Hager of Jeffersonville, Kentucky; one son, Geoffrey (Misty) Thomas of Winchester, Kentucky; and four grandchildren, Emilee Hager, Lillie Hager, Peyton Thomas, and Clayton Thomas.
Also surviving are one sister, Cheryl (William) Matthews of Berea, Kentucky; four brothers, Danny (Sheila) Isaacs, Raymond Jr. (Fe) Isaacs and Mason (Cherie) Isaacs, all of Berea, Kentucky, and Jason (Abby) Isaacs of Goleta, California; and several nieces and nephews.
Linda was a graduate of Annville Institute in Jackson County, Kentucky, and earned her nursing degree from Lexington Vocational College. She was a former nurse and pharmacy technician at Mary Chiles Hospital.
Linda was a member of the Montgomery County Busy Seekers Homemakers, Bath County Homemakers, Scrapbaggers Quilt Club, Sterling Ladies Investment Club and Lord’s Ladies. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, and traveling with the Adult Day Out Group. She was a member of the Gateway Christian Church.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, May 7, 2009, at the Gateway Christian Church with Pastor Glenn Emery officiating. Interment will follow in Machpelah Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Danny, Raymond, Mason, and Jason Isaacs and Steve Hager.
Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at the Gateway Christian Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Montgomery County Relay for Life.

Debra Jean Trent Howard
1957-2009
MOREHEAD – Debra Jean Trent Howard, age 51, of Criqueside Drive, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, May 9, 2009, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.
She was born October 30, 1957, in Rowan County, Kentucky, and is the daughter of Darlene Dillon Trent of Morehead, Kentucky, and Emerson Trent, who passed away June 19, 2001.
In addition to her mother, Debra is survived by her husband, Clifford Howard; two sons, Rodney Clevenger and Scottie Clevenger, both of Morehead; one stepson, Jerry Howard of Morehead, Kentucky; two step daughters, Kristy Fultz of Olive Hill, Kentucky, and Kimberly Harvey of Ezel, Kentucky; one brother, Ricky Lee Trent of Morehead, Kentucky; one sister, Shirley Sue Gardner of Morehead, Kentucky.
Also surviving are two grandchildren; 8 step grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
Debra was a former employee of Pathways of Morehead and the Rest Area on I-64 East.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Lonnie Conn and Brother Phillip Fraley officiating. Burial will follow in the Trent Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Howard, Adam Barker, Daniel Austin, Arnold Moore, Tim Harvey, and Willie Dehart.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Monday, May 11, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
Charles Roe Jr.
1944-2009
MOREHEAD – Charles Roe Jr., 64, of Springfield, Ohio, formerly of Elliottville and Bellville, Michigan, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, May 7, 2009 at his residence.
He was born on December 29, 1944 in Elliottville, Kentucky, the son of the late Charles and Lula Skaggs Roe.
He served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was awarded a Bronze Star. He retired from the Ford Motor Company in Michigan after thirty-five years of service. Charles enjoyed spending time with his family and was a member of the Beatty Freewill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn Sue DeWitt Roe, whom he married
on December 29, 1962, one son, Timothy Charles Roe of Springfield, Ohio, three daughters and two sons-in-law, Cynthia Carol and Mike Powell of Springfield, Ohio, Dorrena Fields of Michigan and Laura Alta and Bob Ruetenik of Springfield, Ohio, nine grandchildren, Ashley (Travis), Joshua, Lance, Arika, Austin, Madeline, Dean, Dillon and Jasmine, one great granddaughter, Addie, three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Doreen and Tom Eldridge of Hamilton, Ohio, Marie and Ben Reffett of Indiana and Murrel Perkins of Morehead, four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Franklin Roe of Michigan, Garland and Geraldine Roe of Winchester, Eldon and Juanita Roe and Noah and Hildreth Roe all of Elliottville and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Denver Roe, Edgar Roe and Glenn Roe.
A celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at the Beatty Freewill Baptist Church, 3107 Springfield-Xenia Road, Springfield.
Burial will be in the Ferncliff Cemetery in Springfield, Ohio.

Wilma “Jean” Gilkison
1942-2009
MOREHEAD – Wilma “Jean” Gilkison, age 67, wife of Robert “Bobby” Gilkison, of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at U.K. Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.
She was born February 23, 1942, in Morehead, Kentucky, daughter of the late Clella and Gladys Kidd. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Jack L. Barber, Jr.
Mrs. Gilkson was a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and a homemaker. She enjoyed making quilts, reading and traveling.
In addition to her husband of 48 years, survivors include two daughters, Roberta J. Gilkison of Benica, California, and Saundra Nathanson and husband Jace of Morehead, Kentucky; one brother, Charles Kidd of Richmond, Indiana; and one sister, Verna Trent of Morehead, Kentucky.
She also leaves behind 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Gilkison was a member of the Clearfield Tabernacle First Church of God.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, May 17, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Gary McQuain and the Rev. Cecil Ison officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Raymond L. (Candy Man) Johnson
1945-2009
MOREHEAD – Raymond L. (Candy Man) Johnson, age 63, of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.
He was born October 28, 1945, in Rowan County, Kentucky, son of the late Joe Dickie and Linda Gregory Johnson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Glendon Ray Johnson, Kenneth Clay Johnson, Ronald Lee Johnson, Douglas Dean Johnson, Gary Ivo Johnson, and Michael Anthony Johnson.
Raymond is survived by his wife of thirty years, Janine (Jan) Fairchild Johnson; two brothers, Rex Johnson and wife Helen of Winchester, Kentucky, and Ernie Johnson and wife Barb of Clearfield, Kentucky; one sister, Carolyn Brown and husband Paul of Morehead, Kentucky; and four sisters-in-law, Virgie Buckley, Patricia Johnson, Jeanie Johnson, and Joy Johnson.
Also surviving are several special nieces and nephews, who lovingly referred to him as “Candy Man.”
Raymond was the owner and operator of Hill Top Trap Shoot and Johnson’s Tree Topping and Removal. He was also a former employee of Ken-Mor Stone, Lexington Concrete, and Lee Clay Products Company.
Funeral services were conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. James DeAtley and the Rev. Robert Kidd officiating. Burial was in the Ditney Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Tony Petitt, Will Walker, Geddy Walker, Matthew Walker, Jesse Johnson, Greg Johnson, Justin Perkins, and Johnny Johnson.
Visitation was 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
