Oma Lykins
1937-2008
WEST LIBERTY - Oma Lykins, 71, of Highway 976, West Liberty, died Thursday, November 20, 2008 at the St Claire Medical Center in Morehead, Kentucky following a brief illness.
Oma was born January 19, 1937 in Middletown, Ohio, the daughter of the late Chris and Juanita Lewis Utterback. She was a loving mother, housewife and homemaker. Although not affiliated with any church, she accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior and will be sorely missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Chris Utterback and Juanita Lewis Utterback, and her husband Wayne Lykins. She is survived by one son, Tony Johnson of West Liberty, Kentucky; one daughter, Tammy Lykins of West Liberty, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Quentin Ennis, Megan Ennis, Allison Ennis, Anastasia Cook, Jerusha Nelson, and Roxanne Johnson; one great-¬granddaughter, Danielle Nelson; one sister, Pauline, and her husband Darrell Fugett of West Liberty; and one brother, Cohen and wife Linda Utterback of West Liberty, Kentucky.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 22, 2008 at Herald & Stewart & Halsey chapel with Rev. Eugene Haney and Pastor Donald Cox officiating. Interment will follow with burial in the Brown Cemetery in Morehead, Kentucky.
Visitation will begin after 6:00 PM on Friday at Herald & Stewart & Halsey Funeral Home, West Liberty, Kentucky.
Grace Conway Wright
1927-2008
Grace Conway Wright, 81, of North Tolliver Road in Morehead and formerly of Sudith died Nov. 4 at St. Claire Regional Medical Center. She was born March 10, 1927 in Menifee County, the daughter of the late Joseph Conway and Dora Gilley.
Grace is preceded in death by her husband Ransome Wright and one son James E. Wright. She is survived by three sons, Everett Wright of Florida, Howard Wright of Sudith, John Paul Wright of Clearfield; two daughters, Carrie Seat of Valdosta Ga., Helen Stevens of Morehead; one sister Rhetta Ferrell of Sudith; 19 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and many special nieces and nephews.
Grace was an active member of the senior citizens and a volunteer at St. Claire Regional Medical Center. She was a homemaker and the Baptist faith. Funeral services were Nov. 7 at the Taul Funeral Home Chapel in Frenchburg and burial took place in the Benson-Craig Cemetery. Her grandchildren served as pallbearers.
Sammy E. Thompson, Sr.
1940-2008
OLIVE HILL - Sammy E. Thompson, Sr., age 68, of Goodan Creek, Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away Friday, August 29, 2008, at his residence.
Born June 10, 1940, in Gibsonburg, Ohio, he is the son of Florence Goal Ostapowicz of Olive Hill, Kentucky, and the late Leo Thompson. Besides his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Peter John Thompson.
In addition to his mother, Sammy is survived by his wife of 45 years, Yvonne Porter Thompson, whom he married
September 24, 1962; one son, Sammy E. (Samantha) Thompson, Jr. of Olive Hill, Kentucky; two daughters, Beth Ann Thompson of Ashland, Kentucky, and Jackie Gail (Micky) Brown of Olive Hill, Kentucky; and three grandchildren, Zachary Thompson, Kacie Kadlec and Joseph Kadlec.
Also surviving are two sisters, Barbara Kay Bengela of Toledo, Ohio, and Sue Ellen Linden of Clinton, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Thompson served in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division. He was a self-employed contractor and a member of the Olive Hill Methodist Church. Sammy was devoted to his family and will be sadly missed by all.
Funeral services were conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, August 31, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Bob Burton and Dr. Jack Ellis officiating. Burial followed in the Paul Porter Cemetery on Goodan Creek, Olive Hill, with full military rites conducted at the graveside by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.
Pallbearers were Zachary Thompson, Joseph Kadlec, Micky Brown, Andy Bledsoe, John Paul Porter, Bennie Bengela and Eric Jones.
Visitation was after 4 p.m. Saturday, August 30, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, Morehead, Kentucky.

Forrest Edward Woodrow
1936-2008
MOREHEAD - Forrest Edward Woodrow, age 72, of Grouse Hill Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, August 21, 2008, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.
He was born March 26, 1936, in Pontiac, Michigan, and was the son of the late Thomas Edward and Sarah Skaggs Woodrow.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ina Trent Woodrow on November 17, 2006; two sisters, Audrey Bresino and Hazel Skinner; and three brothers, Arthur, Ray, and John Woodrow.
Mr. Woodrow is survived by two sons, Timothy Forrest Woodrow and Thomas Edward Woodrow, and two daughters, Marcella Kay Wallace and Hazel Marie Stevens, all of Morehead, Kentucky, and eight grandchildren, Zachary and Joshua Wallace, Felicia Gallagher, Alexandria, Daniel, and Patricia Stevens, Bailey and Harley Woodrow.
Other survivors include two sisters, Ethel Bollinger of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Gloria Wren of Cocoa Beach, Florida.
A loving father, grandfather and brother, Forest was a self-employed brick layer and member of Elliottville Baptist Church.
Funeral services were conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, August 24, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Tim Rhodes and the Rev. David Woodrow officiating. Burial was in E. Trent Cemetery at Elliottville, Kentucky.
Pallbearers were Adam Wallace, Donnie Stevens, Bailey Woodrow, Zach Wallace, Joshua Wallace, and Daniel Stevens.
Visitation was. Saturday, August 23, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
Lenola Brown Gregory
1919-2008
MOREHEAD – Lenola Brown Gregory, age 89, of KY Hwy. 519, Morehead, Kentucky, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 27, 2008, at her residence.
She was born April 10, 1919, in Rowan County, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late Jeff and Laura Sweeney Brown.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Henry Cecil Gregory on February 18, 1984; her second husband, Jessie Andrew Gregory on February 15, 2004; four sons, Earl, Harlan, Gary and Ronnie Gregory; one daughter, Marie Pettit; two brothers, Hollie and Opal Brown; and one sister, Verna Gambill.
Mrs. Gregory is survived by three daughters, Dora Haney, wife of the late Elmo Haney, of Elliottville, Kentucky, Janice Wells of Morehead, Kentucky, Janette McKinney and husband Flavis of Morehead, Kentucky; one son, Kenneth Gregory and wife Linda of Grayson, Kentucky; three sisters, Corda Foster and Sylvia Gregory, both of Morehead, Kentucky, and Bernice Law of Portsmouth, Ohio; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Gregory was a devoted homemaker who loved preparing meals for her family and friends. She also enjoyed quilting, canning, sewing, crocheting, and embroidering. She was a member of the Church of God. A loving mother and grandmother, she will be missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, August 29, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Willis Adkins and the Rev. Harley Sexton, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Clearfield Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Raymond Waddell, Christopher Wells, Nathan Williams, Michael Gregory, Tony Pettit, Bert McKinney, and Joshua Gregory.

Donald Lewis Humphries
1949 - 2008
HILLSBORO - Donald Lewis Humphries, age 59, of Hillsboro Road, Hillsboro, Kentucky, passed Monday, August 18, 2008, at his residence.
He was born April 1, 1949, in Fleming County, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Luther James and Emma Mae Saunders Humphries.
He is survived by one daughter, Donna Humphries of Shelbyville, Kentucky; five brothers, James Paul (Phyllis) Humphries of Hillsboro, Kentucky, William Earl (Bonnie) Humphries of Hillsboro, Kentucky, Noel Lee (Jane) Humphries of Milford, Ohio, Harold Ray (Betty) Humphries of Hillsboro, Kentucky, and Nelson Wayne (Eloise) Humphries of Hillsboro, Kentucky; and one sister, Shirley Ann Humphries of Hillsboro, Kentucky.
Also surviving are four aunts, Viola McKee of Flemingsburg, Kentucky, Christine (Vernon) Thomas of Sharpsburg, Kentucky, Frankie Rawlings of Ft. Thomas, Kentucky, and Gladys Humphries of Flemingsburg, Kentucky; and many nieces, nephews, and Hillsboro friends.
Don was a cabinet maker.
Funeral services were conducted 1 p.m. Thursday, August 21, 2008, at Hutton Funeral Home with the Rev. James Allen officiating. Burial was in Hillsboro Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Calvin Donaldson, Marion Jones, Sammy Lewis, Vernon Walker, Bill Conway, and Harold Dean Sorrell.
Visitation was after 6 p.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2008, at Hutton Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
Eva Mae Kelsey
1955 - 2008
MOREHEAD - Eva Mae Kelsey, age 52, of Debord Branch, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2008, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.
Born December 24, 1955, she was the daughter of Corda Katherine Cooper Kelsey of Morehead, Kentucky, and the late John Tilden Kelsey.
In addition to her mother, Eva is also survived by two sons, James C. Meade and John M. Meade and six grandchildren, Autumn, Luke, Aaron, Johnathon, Logan, and Charlie Meade, all of Morehead, Kentucky.
Other survivors include her brothers and sisters, John Samuel (Butch) Kelsey and wife Geraldine of Morehead, Kentucky, Suzanne Skaggs and husband Mike of Clearfield, Kentucky, Carol (Jean) Hall and husband Terry, Rebecca Joan Owens and husband Greg, Timothy L. Kelsey, Billy Ray Kelsey and wife Carol, and Henry Clinton Kelsey and wife Janet, all of Morehead, Kentucky, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Eva was very proud of her achievement as a single mother of two boys when she graduated from Morehead State University with a degree in social work at the age of forty. She was dedicated to her work at the Kentucky Baptist Home for Children and regretted that her illness caused her to discontinue her employment.
Eva loved her family and especially enjoyed the time spent with her grandchildren.
A family service will be held at the Rock Fork Christian Church on Friday, August 22, 2008, at 1 p.m.
