1955 - 2008
MOREHEAD - Sharon Rivers, age 52, of Hunts Fork, Dana, Kentucky, passed away Monday, August 18, 2008, at her residence.
She was born November 6, 1955, in Hazard, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late William Radar and Arizona Everage Smith. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Dexter Smith, and one sister, Ernestine Noble.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Jeffery Rivers; two sons, Ronnie Rivers of Lexington, Kentucky, and Mason Rivers of Dana, Kentucky; two brothers, Lester Smith and Freddy Smith, both of Morehead, Kentucky; and five sisters, Carolyn Neace of Hazard, Kentucky, Nancy Waddell of Dana, Kentucky, Ivory Waddell of Morehead, Kentucky, Billie Dailey of Jacobs, Kentucky, and Sandra Campbell of Hazard, Kentucky.
Other survivors include father-in-law and mother-in-law, Forest Rivers and Shirley Smith; special niece and nephew, Tana Waddell and Tyrone Noble; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Mrs. Rivers was a teacher’s aide at John M. Stumbo Elementary School.
Funeral services were conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, August 21, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Don Rivers officiating. Burial will follow in Bowen Chapel Cemetery in Carter County, Kentucky.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Neace, Austin Nunimaker, Eric Hughes, James Rivers, Bob Rivers, David Bowling, Jeremy Smith, and Chase Hanshaw.
Visitation was after 5 p.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
Clarence Edwin Romans
1962 - 2008
MOREHEAD - Clarence Edwin Romans, age 46, of McBrayer Road, Clearfield, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2008, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead, Kentucky
He was born April 3, 1962, in Morgan County, Kentucky, and is the son of William Thomas Romans of Cannonsburg, Kentucky, and the late Ethel Yates Romans.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Lisa Logan Romans; one son, James Romans of Clearfield, Kentucky; and one daughter, Kim Henderson and husband Josh of Hillsboro, Kentucky.
Clarence is also survived by four brothers, Darrell Romans of Clearfield, Kentucky, Donald Romans of West Liberty, Kentucky, Junior Romans of Ivel, Kentucky, and Eddie Romans of Hillsboro, Kentucky; two sisters, Barbara Howard of Cannonsburg, Kentucky, and Carolyn Sue Romans of Irvine, Kentucky; mother-in-law, Ruth Logan of Morehead, Kentucky; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews; and other loving family members.
Clarence was an employee of Romans Body Shop.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, August 22, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Ivan Traylor and the Rev. Dave Muncy officiating. Burial will follow in New Alfrey Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Jones, Jesse Romans, Eddie Romans, Junior Romans, Daniel Hook, Allen Logan, Darrel Logan, and Terrell Bradley. Honorary pallbearers will be James Romans, Josh Henderson, Darrell Romans, Donny Romans, Jim Smith, Andy Pennington, and Steve Ferguson.

Zane Ray Collins
1962 - 2008
MOREHEAD - Zane Ray Collins, age 46, of Tampa, Florida, formerly of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Monday, August 4, 2008, in Tampa.
He was born January 24, 1962, in Kansas City, Missouri, and was the son of the late Gary and Marcella Collins and grandson of the late Fred and Clara B. Collins of Clearfield, Kentucky.
Zane moved from Morehead to Florida in 1977. After serving in the U.S. Navy, he was a construction worker.
Zane is survived by one sister, Melesa Prince and husband Ron of Tampa, Florida; three nieces, Rebecca, Ashley, and Alisa; and one nephew, Keith. Also surviving are his aunt, Carole Caudill, and uncle, Danny Collins, both of Clearfield, Kentucky.
Memorial services were conducted in Tampa.

OLIVE HILL - Mr. Joel Darrell Hargett, age 51, of Prater Road, Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away Sunday morning, August 10, 2008, at his residence.
Mr. Hargett was born August 12, 1956, in New Castle, Indiana, and is a son of Jimmie Ray and Elsie Gay Stevens Hargett of Olive Hill, Kentucky.
Joel was a Christian and attended the Ross Chapel Christian Holiness Church in Olive Hill, Kentucky. He was a 1974 graduate of West Carter High School. Joel was an avid sports fan of University of Kentucky Wild Cats Basketball and loved playing the drums.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of twenty-nine years, Kimberly Ann Jones Hargett; two sons, Zachary Jay Hargett and Andrew Ronald Hargett both of Olive Hill, Kentucky; one daughter, Kelli Ann Hargett and husband Kurt Taylor of Morehead, Kentucky; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dennis and Kathy Hargett, Darrin and Chimila Hargett all of Olive Hill, Kentucky; one sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Kandi and Dave Carpenter of Marysville, Ohio, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ronald and Mitzi Ann Gearhart Jones; grandmother-in-law, Norma Jones all of Olive Hill, Kentucky. He also leaves a very special pet dog, Luther, several nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends that will sadly miss him.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at the Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, with Brother Gayle Price and Brother Terry Dean officiating. Burial will follow in the Jones Family Cemetery on James Chapel Road in Olive Hill, Kentucky.
Friends may call after 6:00 p.m. Tuesday and until the service hour Wednesday at the Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill.
Byron Hargett, Keith Hargett, Timmy Hargett, Shawn Hatton, Butch Hatton, Mike Hatton and Dave Carpenter will serve as pallbearers.
Johnny E. Howard
1939 - 2008
SALT LICK - Johnny E. Howard, age 68, of Bayou Lane, Salt Lick, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 9, 2008, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead, Kentucky, after battling pancreatic cancer for nearly a year.
Born November 9, 1939, in Harlan County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Ralph and Opal Matheny Howard.
He is the beloved husband of Flossie Marie Arnett Howard, whom he married
May 27, 1961, and devoted father of his daughter, Seanna Lynn Howard of Monroe, Ohio.
He is also survived by his brother, Josh R. Howard of Cincinnati, Ohio; sisters, Jessie Lee Wright of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Donna Snow of Merritt Island, Florida; uncle, William E. Matheny of Seth, West Virginia, and many dear cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Johnny was a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University and taught physical education for 32 years, primarily in Lakota Local School District in Hamilton, Ohio. Since his retirement in 1993, he and his wife have enjoyed serving the Lord, fishing at Cave Run Lake, and spending time with family and friends. They are members of Lakeview Community Church.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Mike Pennington and the Rev. James Allen officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be Josh Howard, Jr., Howard Wright, Douglas Howard, Jim Wright, Johnny Ray Slusher, Jr., Christopher Arnett, and Mark Arnett.
Visitation is after 5 p.m. Tuesday, August 12, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Flora Brown Logan
1916 - 2008
MOREHEAD - Flora Brown Logan, 92, of 421 Bishop Court, passed away Saturday morning August 9, 2008 at her home after an illness of several weeks.
She was born on June 7, 1916 in Rowan County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late George W. and Sadie Jane Clark Brown.
Mrs. Logan was a homemaker, a member of the Church of Christ and enjoyed walking, working in her flowers and collecting rocks.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene M. Logan, who passed away on June 13, 2005, two brothers, Willie Brown and Ernest Brown and three sisters, Grace Yoder, Geraldine Crum and Wilma Hadwin.
Survivors include her children, Woody Logan and his wife, Jane of Muncie, Indiana and Rhonda Bailey of Morehead, four brothers, Harold Brown, Claude Brown and Fred Brown all of Morehead and Wilford Brown of Flatwoods, three sisters, Geneva Whittle and Juanita Cooper both of Morehead and Madeline Sewell of Muncie, Indiana, three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, August 14, 2008 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Minister Jesse Perry officiating. Burial will follow in the Clark Cemetery at Cranston. Visitation is from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
