Ernie D. Harding
1946-2008
MOREHEAD - Ernie D. Harding, age 61, of Big Run Road, Wallingford, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2008, at U.K. Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.
He was born August 11, 1946, in Morgan County, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Ollie and Myrtle Ann Keeton Harding.
He is survived by his wife, Cathy Pick Harding, whom he married
on April 14, 1967; three sons, William Todd Harding of Elkhart, Indiana; Paul David Harding and wife Rustie of Wallingford, Kentucky; and Roy Lee Harding and wife Beth of Salt Lick, Kentucky; a daughter, Dani Marie Amaru, of Fallon, Nevada; seven grandchildren; and one great granddaughter.
Other survivors include four brothers, James Earl Harding of Benton, Kentucky; Robert Harding of Maysville, Kentucky; Arlie Dean Harding of Sandy Hook, Kentucky; and Roger Harding of West Liberty, Kentucky; and a sister, Martha Sue Harding of Lexington, Kentucky.
Mr. Harding served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1969-1972. He was a former truck driver with North West Transport in Denver, Colorado, and a member of the Mt. Pisgah Christian Church. Ernie was also an avid fisherman.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, January 26, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. James DeAtley officiating. Burial will follow in the Big Run Community Cemetery in Wallingford, Kentucky. Full military rites will be conducted at the graveside by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.
Pallbearers will be Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Friday, January 25, 2008 at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
Lloyd Austin Cornell
1931-2008
FLORIDA - Lloyd Austin Cornell of Winter Garden, Florida passed away on January 19, 2008. He was born in Rochelle, GA in 1931. He received a BA from Stetson University in Deland, FL and a Master of Theology degree from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. He was pastor at Ferndale Baptist Church in Montverde, FL while he was a student at Stetson. He was a Navy chaplain, then served as Baptist Campus Minister at Murray State University (KY), University of Hawaii, and Morehead State University (KY). He is survived by Masako, his wife of 48 years; son Shawn; daughter Noelani; and seven grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Gotha, FL on January 26 at 10 a.m.
SFC Norman Gene Middleton
1966-2008
WALLINGFORD - Sgt. 1st Class Norman Gene Middleton, age 42, of Wallingford Road, Wallingford, Kentucky, passed away August 22, 2008, after injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in Fleming County, Kentucky.
Born March 27, 1966, in Fleming County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Delpha Middleton.
He is survived by one daughter, Rebecca Middleton of Wallingford, Kentucky; aunts and uncles, Libby Cox and Craig Cox of Wallingford, Kentucky, Darlene Vise and James Vise of Hillsboro, Kentucky, Pat Hayes and Wayne Hayes of Monroe, Ohio, Bonnie Baybant and Sam Baybant of Goshen, Ohio; two special cousins, Cody McVey of Muses Mill, Kentucky, and Zachary Maddox of Wallingford, Kentucky; and two nieces, Shawn Maddox of Wallingford, Kentucky, and Lynn Workman of Muses Mill, Kentucky.
Norman had served in the National Guard for 20 years and was currently serving as a Sergeant First Class in 301 Chemical Company.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, August 26, 2008, at the Pea Ridge Community Church with the Rev. Harley Sexton, Jr., officiating. Burial will follow in the Cox Family Cemetery in Wallingford, Kentucky, with full military rites conducted by the National Guard.
Pallbearers will be National Guard members of 301 Chemical Company: Sgt. 1st Class (Ret.) James Fisher, Spc. Justin Cherosky, Sgt. Adam Griggs, Spc. Earnest Hollan, Pfc. Earnest Purnell, Spc. Larry Williams.
Visitation is after 5 p.m. Monday, August 25, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
James O. “Jim” Wise
1930-2008
MOREHEAD – Mr. James O. “Jim” Wise, 78, of Eagle Drive passed away peacefully Friday, August 22, 2008 in the Edgewood Estates Nursing Home in Frenchburg.
He was born in Estill County, Kentucky on January 21, 1930, a son of the late Elva Wise and Mary Frances Clark Wise.
Jim was educated in the Estill County Schools and attended Estill County High School and the University of Kentucky. He was an active member of Baxter Tennessee United Methodist Church and First Baptist Church of Morehead.
Mr. Wise began his career in Central and Eastern Kentucky as a sales representative for Surge Dairy Systems. He was an electrician and master plumber in Dayton, Ohio for the duration of his career. Upon retirement, he and his wife, Jane Teager Wise were the proprietors of Hummingbird Hill Bed and Breakfast in Center Hill Lake, Tennessee until 1998. They “retired” again to Morehead and he built their home on the 17th green of Eagle Trace Golf Course.
Jim was an adventurer, sportsman and humanitarian having volunteered much time to his church, Habitat for Humanity, his community and friends. He was a Kentucky Colonel and had been a Gunner in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. One of his proudest accomplishments was climbing Mt. Fujiama in Japan. He treasured the environment and assisted in cleanups of both Center Hill and Cave Run Lake. He spotted the first bald eagle and was recognized for his efforts in tracking and protection for repopulation of bald eagles in Tennessee.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Alene Wise.

on September 30, 1972, of Morehead, he is survived by three daughters, Lisa Curtis of Denton, Texas, Diana (Guy) Mobley and Elizabeth McLane all of Summerville, South Carolina, two step-daughters, Jackie Teager (Doug) Jones of Morehead and Janet Teager (Tim) Ryan of Lewisville, Texas, two brothers, Wilbert (Lynn) Wise of Arlington, Texas and Alonzo (Margaret) Wise of Tiffin, Ohio, seven sisters, Opal Critchfield of Lexington, Thelma Dunaway of Richmond, Chrystal Ashcraft of Hamilton, Ohio, Elfreeda (Charles) Wickizer of Lawrenceburg, Wavelene (Damon) Dunaway, Mary Alva (Harry) Fox and Lynda (Montie) Parks all of Irvine, five granddaughters, Maranda Beth Ward, Amy Leigh Jones, Rebecka Dawne Curtis, Madison Kelli McLane and Harper Day Mobley, three grandsons, George McCray Mobley, Jacob Mathew McLane and Shepard James Mobley, one great-grandson, Lane Kelly Ward, one great-granddaughter, Kennedy Grace Ward, thirty-four nieces and nephews and his canine companion, Kate.
A celebration of his life and memorial service was held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, August 24, 2008 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Dr. R. Don Mantooth officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to Edgewood Estates Staff, First Baptist Church of Morehead or one’s favorite charity.

Samuel Vinson Curtis
1967 - 2008
MOREHEAD - Samuel Vinson Curtis, age 41, of Lower Licking Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2008, at his residence.
He was born July 10, 1967, in Mason County, Kentucky, and is the son of Dolly Link Fawns of Hillsboro, Kentucky, and the late Henry Elden Curtis. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Herbert Curtis and Wayne Crawford.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Rebecca Dickerson Curtis; one son, Samuel Curtis at home; and four daughters, Hannah Curtis and Savannah Curtis, both at home, Ashley Curtis of Clarksville, Tennessee, and Victoria Curtis of Owingsville, Kentucky.
He is also survived by seven brothers, Henry Curtis of Rowan County, Kentucky, Charles Curtis of Hillsboro, Kentucky, Terry Curtis and Ray Curtis of Bath County, Kentucky, Ricky Crawford and Billy Crawford of Hillsboro, Kentucky, and Danny Crawford of LaGrange, Kentucky, and five sisters, Melissa Lisa Gardner of Hillsboro, Kentucky, Frances Louise Riddle, Peggy Jackson, and Rita Black, all of Bath County, Kentucky, and Mary Sexton of Brooksville, Florida.
He recently retired as a Sergeant with the Army National Guard, where he served for 20 years, and was a former truck driver.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, August 16, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Randy Hawkins and the Rev. James Hickerson officiating.
Burial will be in the Purvis Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Andrew Gardner, Charles Hurst, Tom Dickerson, Bobby Thornsburg, Phillip Riddle, Jr., Troy Hurst, and Tracy Riddle.

Glen Bruce Moore
1956 - 2008
MOREHEAD - Glenn Bruce Moore, age 52, of KY Hwy 801 North, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Monday, August 11, 2008.
He was born May 16, 1956, in Cincinnati, Ohio, and was the son of the late Carol Redwine LaFevers. He was also preceded in death by one half brother, Dennis Walling, and one daughter, Kama Michelle Moore.
Glenn is survived by his wife, Rhonda Hodges Moore; two daughters, Hillary Elaine Moore and Amanda Nicole Moore; one granddaughter, Maddison Nicole Grubb; and father and mother-in-law, Leroy and Norma Hodges, all of Morehead, Kentucky.
Other survivors include one half brother, Chuck Walling of Morehead, Kentucky, and three half sisters, Cheryl Fletcher of Toledo, Ohio, and Ann Wilson and Rita Disney both of Corbin, Kentucky, and many nieces and nephews.
Glenn was an employee of Central Kentucky Landfill in Georgetown, Kentucky, and a member of Morehead Masonic Lodge No. 654.
Funeral services were conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, August 14, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Fannin and the Rev. Mark Caldwell officiating.
Pallbearers were Tony Jones, Chuck Walling, John Walling, Rodney Crump, Steve Hodges, Wayne Fulton, and Buddy Butler.
Visitation was Wednesday, August 13, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
Dolly Williams Cockrell
1917-2008
WEST LIBERTY - Mrs. Dolly Williams Cockrell, age 91 of Clearfield, Kentucky and formerly of Piqua, Ohio, passed away July 24, 2008 at St. Claire Regional Medical Center, Morehead, Kentucky.
She was born January 10, 1917 at Silver Hill, Kentucky; to the late Rev. William Anderson Williams & Sarepta Montgomery Williams.
In addition to her Parents and her late Husband; Earl Dennis Cockrell, Dolly was preceded in death by her Brothers; Thomas Albert Williams & Arlington Williams and Sister; Lizzie Ball.
In her youth, Dolly studied at the Chicago School of Nursing and was employed by the Golden Rule Hospital in Paintsville, Kentucky. She traveled extensively in the Southwest and was a resident of Albuquerque and Tucson for many years. Later, she matriculated at Catonsville College in Catonsville, Maryland, and was twice a diplomat of the Ecole National, becoming a Baltimore couteriere and quilt designer who served the Smithsonian and Washington congressional quilting societies as resource expert.
A member of Temple Baptist Church, Baltimore, Dolly's lifelong desire was "to help others who can't help themselves." She is survived by her son, Billy Cockrell, and her loving cousins, nephews, nieces, and special niece-in-law, Lila Potters Williams.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 am Sunday, July 27, 2008 at Herald & Stewart & Halsey Funeral Home with Rev. Clint Howard officiating. Interment will follow with burial in the Staver Smith Cemetery on White Oak Branch Road in West Liberty, Kentucky.
