Dorothy Louise Herson Millem
1923-2008

MOREHEAD - Dorothy Louise Herson Millem, age 84, of Ashgrove Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away March 6, 2008, at her residence.

She was born July 27, 1923, in Schoolcraft, Michigan, and was the daughter of the late Laurel Preston and Belle Norene Weaver Herson. Her husband, Donald Leo Millem, preceded her in death on November 18, 2001.

Mrs. Millem is survived by one son, Michael L. Millem of Terre Haute, Indiana; three daughters, Vicki L. Davis of Delton, Michigan, Dottie S. Grantham of Morehead, Kentucky, and Darlene LaFountain of Shelbyville, Michigan; one brother, John Herson of Vicksburg, Michigan; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

James Stinson
1922-2008

James Edward “Poss” Stinson, age 85, of Old Flemingsburg Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2008, at the St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.

He was born April 21, 1922, in Rowan County, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Jessie and Ethel Christian Stinson. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Larry Edward Stinson.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dexter Crosthwaite Stinson, whom he wed May 12, 1951; one daughter, Teresa Kimbrell of Morehead, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Michele Jessee, Jamey Jessee and Brandon Kimbrell; and two great grandchildren, Dalton Jessee and MaKenna Jessee.

Other survivors include one brother, Jessie Stinson, Jr., of Morehead, Kentucky, and one sister, Hildreth Sparks of Dayton, Ohio.

Mr. Stinson served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and was a retired union construction employee.

Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Don Mantooth and Elder Deward Hall officiating. Full military rites will be conducted by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126, who will also serve as pallbearers.

Arrangements are under the direction of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

William Keith Callihan
1960-2008

William Keith "Billy" Callihan, 47, of Olive Hill Kentucky died of natural causes on Thursday, January 3, 2008 in Masan, South Korea, where he was teaching English to Korean Students.

He was born on October 3, 1960 in Ashland, the son of William W. "Bill" Callihan and Jackie Kerns Callihan.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Beatrice Lunsford Abbott and his paternal grandparents, Elmer Callihan and Ida Mae Lowe Callihan.

Billy attended West Carter High School before obtaining his Bachelor or Arts degree from Morehead State University and finished his education at New York University on a writing scholarship. He was an actor and playwright at the Gusto House Theatre for many years before his teaching career. He enjoyed traveling abroad, spending time with his niece and nephew and he was a born-again Christian.

He is survived by his parents, a sister, Tracy Callihan Williams of Morehead KY, a brother, Jarrod Wylie Callihan of Austin, TX, a nephew, Andrew Williams and niece, Hannah Williams both of Morehead KY and his special grandparents, Paul and Lillian Abbott of Marion IN.

There was a memorial service at the Olive Hill United Methodist Church on January 8, 2008. Visitation with the family began at 11:00 am with the memorial beginning at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Olive Hill United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 465, Olive Hill, Kentucky 41164.

Garnett June Evans Cline
1940-2008

MOREHEAD - Garnett June Evans Cline, age 67, of Center Street, Morehead, KY, passed away Saturday, January 5, 2008, at her residence from complications of an extended illness.

She was born April 29, 1940, at Greasy Creek in Carter County, KY, the daughter of the late Willard (Bill) Evans and Clara Jane Stamper Evans and granddaughter of the late Nelson Evans and Lyda Bowman Evans and the late Barry Stamper and Susie Fraley Stamper Crisp.

June is survived by her husband of 49 years, Charles G. Cline (G.C.) of Morehead, KY; daughter Sandy and son-in-law Robert Hall of Morehead, KY; son, Charles G. Cline, Jr. (Stoney) and daughter-in-law Karen of Rineyville, KY; three granddaughters Sarah Hall Vivian and husband Jason of Chicago, IL; RhiAnna Hall and fiancé Justin Cristello of Chicago, IL; and Kaitlyn Cline of Rineyville, KY; one grandson Joshua Cline of Rineyville, KY; and one great grandson, Charles Winston Cline of Rineyville, KY.

In addition to her immediate family, she is survived by one sister Joyce Fitch of Fitch, KY and one brother, Jerry and wife Linda Evans of Mansfield, OH and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

June was a member of the Brinegar Church of God. She retired from St. Claire Regional Medical Center where she worked as a Unit Secretary.

Visitation will be Monday, January 7, 2007, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and anytime Tuesday, January 8, 2007 at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Reverend Elijah Waggoner of Bairtown Church of God, the Reverend Louie Harris and the Reverend Victor Mabry both of the Brinegar Church of God officiating. Music will be provided by the Brinegar Church Singers.

Burial will follow at Brown Cemetery. Pallbearers will be the family, Charles “Stoney” Cline, Joshua Cline, Justin Cristello, Roger Fitch, Robert Hall, and Jason Vivian.

The family requests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Brinegar Church of God, c/o Donnie Tackett, 244 Mitchell Rd., Olive Hill, KY 41164 or the Charity of the Donor’s Choice.

John Masters
1923-2008

FLEMING COUNTY – John William Masters, 84, of Fleming County, died at the Fleming County Hospital on Friday, Jan. 4, 2008.

Mr. Masters was born in Rowan County on Dec. 12, 1923, the son of the late Isaiah Masters and Lula Kirk Masters.

A lifelong farmer and agricultural leader, he was a charter member of the National Cattleman’s Association. He served as president of the Livestock Improvement Committee, Fleming County Farm Bureau, Kentucky Charolais Association and the Kentucky Beef Cattle Association. He was recognized for his contributions to farm youth by being awarded Outstanding 4-H leader in 1968 and received an Honorary State Farmer Degree from the Kentucky FFA. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army.

John is survived by his wife of 63 years, Gustiva Hyatt Masters; two sons, Dan (Bettye) Masters and Charlie (Rose Ann) Masters of Flemingsburg; two grandsons, John (Francie) Masters and Marc (Danielle) Masters, both of Lexington; one sister, Georgia Wood of Morehead; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were two half-sisters, Onolda Caudill and Flo Eisler; seven half-brothers, Early Masters, Mervin Masters, Williard Masters, Harry Ball, Earl Ball, Byron Ball and Clayton Ball.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, Jan. 8 at 1 p.m. at the Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Dr. Chris Beckham officiating. Burial at the Elizaville Cemetery.

Rocky McGuire
1932-2008

MOREHEAD - Rocky McGuire, age 75, of Big Brushy Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2008, at the Meadowview Regional Medical Center in Maysville, Kentucky.

He was born February 25, 1932, in Mt. Healthy, Ohio, and was the son of the late Lurman and Julia Mae Fryman McGuire. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Harrison Dean McGuire, on May 6, 1999.

Rocky is survived by his wife, Doris Anderson McGuire; one son, Rick McGuire of Dayton, Ohio; four daughters, Rhonda Parson of Cleveland, Ohio, Brenda Fusch, Sherri Garcia, and Tammy Quintana, all of San Diego, California; 12 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren.

Other survivors include four brothers, Gale McGuire of Union, Ohio, Carol McGuire and Wilford McGuire of Hamilton, Ohio, and Keith McGuire of Morehead, Kentucky; three sisters, Joy Arnett of Anderson, Indiana, Lois Cooper of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Marjorie Menche of Fairfield, Ohio, and many friends and family.

Rocky was a carpenter and enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing. He was a Christian.

Funeral services were conducted 1 p.m. Monday, January 7, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Steve Hickerson officiating. Burial followed in the Fryman Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Rocky McGuire, Larry McGuire, Ricky McGuire, Billy Hoskins, Tim Turley and Don Primmer.

Visitation was Sunday, January 6, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Angelean Hay Johnson Gee Sexton
1940-2008

MOREHEAD - Angelean Hay Johnson Gee Sexton, age 67, of Heritage Place, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, January 5, 2008, at St. Joseph Hospital in Mount Sterling, Kentucky.

She was born June 28, 1940, in Clearfield, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late John and Audrey Brown Hay. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death three sisters: Rose Johnson and infant twins, Louise and Charlotte Hay; two brothers: Kendrick and James Hay; one son: Robert Alex Gee, Jr.; and one grandson: Robert Frank.

She is survived by one son, Steve Gee and wife Tina and one daughter, Robyn Mills and husband Marvin, all of Morehead, Kentucky; three grandchildren: Myka Mills, Jordan Mills, Jalen Mills; and two great-grandchildren: Camryn Mills and Adrian Frank.

Other survivors include two brothers: Jeffrey Hayes of Winchester, Kentucky, and Quenton Hayes of Salinas, California, and two sisters: Verna Carey of Morehead, Kentucky, and Celia Hay of Winchester, Kentucky.

Angie graduated from Maysville Community College in 1976 with a degree in nursing. She was a former nurse at the Morehead State University Infirmary, Mary Chiles Hospital in Mt. Sterling, St. Claire Medical Center in Morehead, and the Life Care Center of Morehead. She retired from the Lexington Rehabilitation Center, where she had been a nurse for eleven years. Prior to her career in nursing, Angie was co-owner of the Frontier Steakhouse and a former employee of Jerry’s Drive-in. She was a member of the East End Church of God.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Ray Glover officiating. Burial will follow in the Johnson Family Cemetery in Morgan County.

Pallbearers will be Joshua Trent, Jimmy Carey, Marvin Mills, Jordan Mills Justin McKenzie, and Randy Hamilton. Her brothers will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Visitation is after 5 p.m. Monday, January 7, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
