Willard Owen Logan, Jr.
1950-2008
MOREHEAD – Willard Owen Logan, Jr., 57, passed away Sunday, September 21, 2008 in the Life Care Center after an extended illness.
He was born in Rowan County, Kentucky on October 13, 1950, a son of Willard Logan and the late Ada Dailey Adams.
Mr. Logan was a retired farmer and carpenter and he enjoyed hunting, working crossword puzzles and helping others.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ada Dailey Adams, his mom, Rosa White Logan and brother, Gary Richard Logan.
Survivors include his father, Willard Logan of Morehead and many other family members and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 24, 2008 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Brother Eddie White and Rev. Charlie Riggs officiating. Burial will follow in the W. Logan Cemetery on Holly Fork. Visitation is after 6:00 P.M. Tuesday.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Megan Dawn Sloan
1985-2008
MOREHEAD – Megan Dawn Sloan, age 23, of KY 801 North, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, September 18, 2008.
She was born August 23, 1985, in Rowan County, Kentucky, and is the daughter of Roger V. Sloan and Jennifer Markwell Johnson, both of Morehead, Kentucky.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by two brothers, Jeremy V. Sloan and Dylan W. Johnson; paternal grandmother, Violet Adkins Sloan, wife of the late Billy R. Sloan; maternal grandparents, James Perry Markwell and Alfetta Thomas Markwell; her fiancé, Brandon Howard, all of Morehead, Kentucky, as well as many loving lifelong classmates and friends.
Megan was a 2004 graduate of Rowan County Senior High School where she was Homecoming Queen and Miss August during her senior year. She also served on the Prom Court, Sweetheart Court and for two years was selected Daisy Mae at the Sadie Hawkins Dance. She attended Morehead State University and the ITT Technical Institute in Lexington, Kentucky, majoring in internet design. Megan loved all people and enjoyed working with the disabled of all ages. She had been a volunteer at the Life Care Center of Morehead.
Funeral services were conducted 1 p.m. Monday, September 22, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Mark Caldwell officiating. Burial was in New Alfrey Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Brandon Howard, Jimmy Markwell, Lanny Eldridge, James Spencer, Jordan Collins, Ondie Vinson, Matt Williams, and David Carter.
Visitation was Sunday, September 21, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
David L. Coldiron
1935-2008
MOREHEAD – David L. Coldiron, age 72, of Overlook Lane, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2008, at his residence.
He was born December 11, 1935, in Welch, West Virginia, son of the late Bert and Goldie Evelyn Davis Coldiron. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a half brother, Pat Howe.
David is survived by his wife of 28 years, Linda S. Coldiron; three sons, D. Scott Coldiron of Morehead, Kentucky, Ronald Lee (Barbara) Coldiron of Middletown, Ohio, and Darrell Dean Coldiron of Franklin, Ohio; one stepdaughter, Cathy (William) Powers of Morehead, Kentucky; and two grandchildren, Nathasha Coldiron and Kyle Powers.
Mr. Coldiron served for twenty years in the U.S. Air Force retiring in 1975 as a Technical Sergeant. Following his retirement, he was a salesman for the National Life Insurance Company for ten years.
He enjoyed gardening, cooking, fishing, and collecting coins.
He was a member of the Bath County First Apostolic Church.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, September 20, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Daniel Flanery officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with full military rites conducted by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.
Pallbearers will be Darrell Davis, Steve Davis, William Powers, Danny Russell, Eddie Davis, Dennis Davis, Dwayne Davis, Timmy Davis, Robert Russell, and Ty Davis.
Visitation is after 5 p.m. Friday, September 19, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
Glennis Ray “Bill” Dehart
1944-2008
MOREHEAD – Glennis Ray “Bill” Dehart, age 64, of Shattuck, Oklahoma, a native of Rowan County, Kentucky, passed away Monday, September 15, 2008, at his residence.
He was born July 8, 1944, in Rowan County, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Chester Arthur and Lyda Matthews Dehart. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Glennis Ray Dehart, Jr.; four brothers, Kenneth, Vencil, Jimmy, and Vercil Ivan Dehart, and three sisters, Linda Faye Dehart, Amanda Jane Slone, and Luwanda Merle Slone.
Survivors include a son, Michael Ray Dehart; two brothers, Cledith Dehart and Cleo Dehart, both of Morehead, Kentucky; one sister, Lois Whitt of Springfield, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services and burial will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, September 20, 2008, at the Fraley Cemetery on Kegley Ridge with the Rev. Lonnie Conn officiating.

Shirley Ann Sorrell
1938-2008
HILLSBORO- Shirley Ann Sorrell, age 69, of Sunset Road, Hillsboro, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, September 18, 2008, at the Fleming County Hospital in Flemingsburg, Kentucky.
She was born September 22, 1938, in Hillsboro, Kentucky, to the late Clen and Zetta Mae McRoberts Sorrell. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Lowell Thomas Sorrell and Kenneth O. (Kenny) Sorrell.
Shirley is survived by one sister, Evelyn Emmons of Flemingsburg, Kentucky; a nephew, Ronnie Sorrell of Morehead, Kentucky; and a niece Raye Jean Buff of Orlando, Florida.
Shirley retired after 34 years from U S Shoe Corporation in Flemingsburg, Kentucky. She was a member of the Hillsboro Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, September 21, 2008, at Hutton Funeral Home with the Rev. George Sloan and Brother Gerald Saunders officiating. Burial will follow in Hillsboro Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Marvin Horsley, Stevie Call, Barry Manning, Jerry Neal, Joe Kissick, and Joe Smoot.
Visitation is after 6 p.m. Saturday, September 20, 2008, at Hutton Funeral Home.
Gerald Stephens
MT. STERLING - Gerald H. Stephens, age 76, of Fawns Lane, Mt. Sterling died, at his residence on Tuesday, September 16, 2008.
He was a native of Glasgow, a retired truck driver, a member of the Teamsters Union, a member of the Masonic Lodge, and a former member of the Montgomery County Senior Citizens. He was a member of the Spring Street Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his wife Leda Clay Wingate Stephens.
Survivors include one son, Jerry (Patsy) Stephens of Morehead, one daughter Sheila F. (Jerry) Bugg of Harrodsburg, his fiancee Charlene Patton of Mt. Sterling, one brother Raymond Stephens of Jeffersonville and one sister Betty Sorrell of Mt. Sterling. Three grandchildren Jerry Gaylor (Julie) Stephens of Morehead, Earl Gerome Stephens of Louisville, and Bobbie Sue (Rob) Campbell of London. Two great grandchildren Macey Nicole Campbell and Layden Thomas Stephens.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 20 at the Taul Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Runyon officiating. Internment to follow in the Machpelah Cemetery. Visitation is 5-9 p.m. on Friday with Masonic Rites at 7 p.m.
Elza Edward Crouch
SALT LICK - Elza Edward Crouch, 83, of Salt Lick, passed away Thursday, September 11, 2008 at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.
Mr. Crouch was the father of Danny (Judy) Crouch of Olympia, Mitzi Crouch of Salt Lick and Melissa (Mike) Alcorn of Morehead.
He was a retired construction worker and a World War II Navy veteran and was an avid fisherman and enjoyed traveling and the outdoors.
In addition to his children, he is survived by 6 grandchildren, Michelle (Jimmy) Lyons, B.J. (Todd) Bussell, Jill Crouch, Alisha Wilhoit, Nick Alcorn, Zach Alcorn, 6 great grandchildren, Hannah Bussell, Shelby Walker, Maycee Lyons, Jaycie Bussell, Mason Lyons and Raeley Ballard, 2 brothers, Jessie (Maudie) Crouch and Luther Ivan (Shirley) Crouch, both of Salt Lick and 3 sisters, Ida Ruth (Herbert) Watson and Mona Faye (Otis) Stewart, both of Salt Lick and Elsa Frances (Larry) McNeese of Muncie, IN. He is also survived by several special in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Betty Greene Crouch, his parents, Jennings and Esta Bell McCarty Crouch, a brother, William Earl Crouch and a sister, Geneva Hatton.
Services were conducted at the Upper Salt Lick Church of Christ on Sunday, September 14, 2008 with Bro. Relzda McNabb officiating and interment following in the Crouch Family Cemetery with military rites being conducted at the graveside by the Bath County V.F.W. Post #7497. Powell Funeral Home in Salt Lick cared for all arrangements.
