Curnis R. "CR" Caudill
1922-2008
PARIS - Curnis R. “CR” Caudill age 86, of Paris, formerly of Maysville died Friday at the VA Leestown Hospital. He was the owner/operator of Caudill Excavating having done large commercial projects including an airport a lake and a church building and many projects around Mason County and surrounding areas. He was also a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps serving his county during WWII in the Pacific Theater taking part in the Iwo Jima campaign.
Curnis was born in Antigo, WI June 18, 1922 to the late Ora and Lynn Lambert Caudill.
He is survived by his wife June Stacy Caudill; three sons Mike Caudill and his wife Debbie of Catlettsburg, KY; Kelly Caudill of South Daytona Beach, Fl and Greg Caudill and his wife Melinda of Millersburg, KY; a daughter Libby Barr of Morehead; his stepson Gary Biddle and his wife Peggy of Georgetown, KY; two stepdaughters Debbie Dodson and her husband David of Frankfort; Cindy Davis and her husband Gary of Maysville; 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Also surviving are six sisters Clara Adkins, Marie Thelfor, Nellie Debroux, Virginia Keen, Bonnie Lewis all of Antigo, WI; Faye Smith of Farmers, KY.
Preceding Curnis in death was a granddaughter Amanda Biddle, three brothers Edgar C. Caudill, Emil Caudill, Clyde Caudill and four sisters Mabel Freidman, Edna Putsch, Annie Peltier and Ruth Caudill.
A celebration of Curnis Caudill's life will be 11 am Wednesday August 20, 2008 at the Victory Christian Center of Maysville 719 US 62, Maysville, Pastor Byron Z. Mills officiating.
Interment will follow with military honors in Green Acres Cemetery Maysville.
Calling Hours will be Tuesday from 5 pm until 9 pm at the church.

Vivian Christian Ison
1930 - 2008
MOREHEAD - Vivian Christian Ison, 78, of Beavercreek, Ohio formerly of Rowan County, passed away Saturday, August 16, 2008 in the Hartland of Kettering Nursing Home in Kettering, Ohio.
She was born on March 2, 1930 in Rowan County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Allen and Ruie Pigman Christian.
Ms. Ison was a homemaker, a Christian and she enjoyed cooking, flowers and making candy.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Everett Clark.
Survivors include one daughter, Josette Sliwa of Bradenton, Florida, one brother, Jimmy Dyer of Dayton, Ohio, three sisters, Lillian Crisp and Marie Blundell both of Elliottville and Betty Rinker of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico and several nieces and nephews.
Private family funeral services will be conducted. Burial will be in the Abbott-Sturgill Cemetery at Haldeman.
Pallbearers will be family.

James C. (Jim) Wells
1939 - 2008
MOREHEAD - James C. (Jim) Wells, age 68, of Wells Lane, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Friday, August 15, 2008, at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky, following an extended illness.
He was born October 31, 1939, in Morgan County, Kentucky, and was the son of J. C. and Celia Richardson Wells. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald H. (Don) Wells and William T. (Bill Tom) Wells.
Jim is survived by his wife of 43 years, Brenda Lewis Wells, whom he married
June 5, 1965; one brother, David Wells and his wife Jo; two sisters, Dean Carter and Clydia Jo Wood, all of Morehead, Kentucky, and several nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
Heartfelt thanks are extended to special caregiver, Kay Freimuth; loyal friends, Della Clay and Dianna Zornes; and Jim and Brenda’s best friends for forty years, Ray and Wanda Conn.
Jim was a prominent business leader in the community. He was a partner in many businesses over the years: J. C. Wells & Son, Inc., Wood Products Transport, Inc., A.D.O.M., Inc., Fleming Wood Products, Inc., Menifee Forest Products, Midland Properties and Kentucky Uplink Satellite, Inc.
He was a founding member of KFIA and served as President and as a board member for many years. Jim was one of the founders of the Morehead National Bank and served on the board. He was presently a member of the board of Whitaker Bank in Morehead.
Jim was a 1957 graduate of Breckinridge Training School and attended Morehead State College. He served in the U.S. Army for one year of active duty at Ft. Chaffee, Arkansas, training recruits and then served six years in the Army Reserve.
Jim was a member of the Morehead First Church of God.
Funeral services were conducted 1 p.m. Monday, August 18, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Tim Rhodes and the Rev. Allan Hutchinson officiating.
Burial was in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with full military rites conducted at the graveside by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.
Pallbearers were David Butcher, Ray Conn, Ray Crisp, Darwin Gregory, Johnny Johnson, Thomas Lewis, David Wayne Todd, and Joe Stacy Wells.
Visitation was Sunday, August 17, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 1900 Richmond Road, Lexington, KY 40502.
Gladys Carol Lacy Martin
1953-2007
MOREHEAD - Gladys Carol Lacy Martin, age 53, of Lost Hill Road, Clearfield, passed away Sunday, December 16, 2007, at her residence.
She was born December 17, 1953, in Rowan County and was the daughter of the late Esmond Leo (Red) Lacy and Myrtle Brown Lacy. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Rivers and Kathy Lacy; one brother, Vernon Hay; and one grandchild, Dakota Johnson.
She is survived by her companion, Glenn Jones of Clearfield; one son, Jason Martin and his wife Tasha of Clearfield; one daughter, Patty Johnson and her husband Douglas of Soldier; one sister, Connie Rzonca of Morehead; and five grandchildren, Brandi Martin, Lakota Johnson, Drake Martin, Blake Martin, and Jayden Martin. Also surviving is a special lifelong friend, Wanda Earls of Salt Lick, several nieces and nephews, and other family and friends.
In addition to being a homemaker, Carol was a former employee of Cox’s Fruit Market and Revco Drug Store. She recently accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 19, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Randy Smith officiating. Burial will be in Jones Ridge Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jason Martin, Pat Martin, Shawn Adams, Kevin Easterling, Jon Thompson, Ernie Wallace, James Wallace, and Gene Glover. Honorary pallbearers will be Anthony Wallace and Mitchell Caudill.

Michael Wayne Hatton
1974-2008
MOREHEAD - Michael Wayne Hatton, age 34, of Johnson School Road, Hillsboro, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, February 14, 2008, in Bath County, Kentucky, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Born January 12, 1974, in Rowan County, Kentucky, he is the son of Violet Purvis Byerly and her husband Jimmy Byerly of Hillsboro, Kentucky, and the late Willie J. Hatton. He is also survived by a half-brother, Kenny Hatton of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, and a half-sister, Linda Robinson of Bath County, Kentucky.
Michael was an employee of Custom Foods in Owingsville, Kentucky, and a member of the Johnson First Church of God in Hillsboro.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 19, 2008, at the Hutton Funeral Home with the Rev. Vernon Gross and the Rev. Randy Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Hedrick Cemetery in Salt Lick, Kentucky.
Pallbearers will be Shannon Gross, Bob Flora, Ricky Lewis, Bill Gross, L. D. Pettit, and Brad Pettit.
Visitation is after 5 p.m. Monday, February 18, 2008, at the Hutton Funeral Home in Hillsboro, Kentucky.
Floyd Arnold Jessie
1950-2008
MOREHEAD - Floyd Arnold Jessie, age 57, of Fleming Fork Road, Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away Friday, February 15, 2008, at his residence.
He was born June 26, 1950, in Carter County, Kentucky, and was the son of the late William Arnold and Mary Madgeline Eden Jessie. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Willis Ray Jessie.
Survivors include one daughter, Melissa Gail Jessie Davis and son-in-law Wendell Davis; two granddaughters, Hannah Grace Davis and Heather Lorraine Davis, all of Rush, Kentucky; one brother, Zack Donald Jessie; and three sisters, Eddie Lee Greenhill, Emily Jewell Black, Brenda Kay Evans, all of Olive Hill, Kentucky; and a host of nieces and nephews and friends. A special thanks to Cheryl Cozzens.
Floyd was a former employee of Bass Hawk Boat Factory in Globe, Kentucky. He was a member of the Church of God.
Funeral services will be conducted 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 19, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Delmar Logan, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Jessie Family Cemetery in Carter County, Kentucky.
