Clifford “Bicy” Lewis
1947-2008

SANDY HOOK - Clifford “Bicy” Lewis, 60, Morehead, passed away Tuesday, July 15, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 28, 1947 Elliott County, the son of the late Humphurs and Linnie Conn Lewis. Two brothers Paul William Lewis and Arnold Lewis also preceded him in death.

Bicy was a carpenter of Baptist Faith, a member of Ashland Carpenters Local 472 and an Army Vietnam veteran.

A brother Ricky and wife Debbie Lewis of Olive Hill survive him. A sister Jeannie and husband Woody Flannery of Sandy Hook and several nieces and nephews. And a special friend Amy Logan.

The funeral will be conducted Saturday, July 19, at 1 p.m. at Lewis and Ferguson Funeral Home with Brother Ricky Lewis and Brother Tim Lewis officiating. Burial will be in the Lewis Cemetery. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Dr. John W. Conley
1932-2008

OHIO – Dr. John W. Conley, 76, of Circleville, died July 25 at Sunbridge Care Center. He was born Feb. 15, 1932 in Portsmouth, the son of the late Hollie and Dora (Williams) Conley.

John was an Army veteran of the Korean War. After the war, John received his bachelor’s degree from Asbury College, master’s degree from St. Thomas University and Doctor of Divinity from Asbury College.

He also attended Ohio University, West Virginia School of Graduate Studies, Asbury Seminary and the South Texas College of Law.

John was a pastor for many years in Camden, S.C. and was former pastor of the First Church of God in Morehead and also was a pastor in South Charleston, W.Va.

John was president of Gulf Coast Bible College in Houston and was instrumental in moving it to Oklahoma City, where it became Mid-America Christian University. He also was president of Ohio Christian University.

His daughter Kerri A. Conley preceded John in death. He is survived by his wife Dolores (Holton) Conley; daughter Konni (Paul) Gargour of Houston; grandchildren Cristina, Ashley and Chelsea.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 29 at Crossroads Church.

Burial was in the Hilter-Ludwig Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Ohio Christian University. The Wellman Funeral Home in Circleville completed arrangements.

Owen Cox
1931-2008

MOREHEAD - Owen Cox, age 76, of Lafayette Drive, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, August 6, 2008, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.

He was born September 8, 1931, in Rowan County, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Richard Henry and Ava Baldridge Cox. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Elmer, Wesley, and Charles Cox, and two sisters, Olive Cant and Virginia Weise.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Wanda Withrow Cox; one daughter, Anita Hall and one son, Wayne Cox, both of Morehead, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Kristi Thomas, Keri Welch, Phillip Cox, Ryan Cox, Colby Cox, Caleb Cox; and four great grandchildren, Katlyn Strunk, Stevie Thomas, Stella Welch, and Jaycee Spencer.

Also surviving are one brother, Allen Cox of Morehead, Kentucky, and one sister, Rae Fletcher of Arizona.

He was retired from Cox Monument Company and had been a United Baptist minister for many years. Owen was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a loyal friend to many and will be missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, August 9, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Elder Zora Adkins, Bro. Clayton Marshall, Elder Douglas Ward, and Elder Eury Barker officiating. Burial will follow in the Christian Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Phillip Cox, Ryan Cox, Steve Thomas, Kris Welch, Darold Bailey, J. R. Bowling, David Bowling, and Jeremy Withrow.

Honorary pallbearers: Stanley Messer, Othar Messer, Junior Messer, Rick Messer, and Charlie Messer.

Visitation is after 5 p.m. Friday, August 8, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Donna Lynn Rogers Donahue
1967-2008

MOREHEAD – Donna Lynn Rogers Donahue, age 40, of Whispering Pines, Clearfield, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2008, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead, Kentucky.

She was born October 7, 1967, in Rowan County, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late Henry Dewey and Peachie Ellen Brown Rogers. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Katherine Rogers Callahan on May 1, 1998.

Donna is survived by three brothers, John D. Brown of Morehead, Kentucky, Henry Rogers of Clearfield, Kentucky, and Frankie Morris of Winchester, Kentucky; one sister, Virginia Kay Brown of Nashville, Tennessee; and her best friend and employer, Thelma Culbert.

She is also survived by many other loving family and friends.

Donna was the Assistant Manager and Caregiver at Culbert’s Boarding Home. Her pride and joy were Steven and Edward. She loved her dogs and spending time with family and friends. Donna was a caring and giving person who will be missed by all.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, August 8, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Danny Fannin officiating. Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Edward Lee Callihan, Paul Bellamy, Nelson Gilliam, Denzil Workman, Phillip David Brown, and James David Brown.

Visitation was after 5 p.m. Thursday, August 7, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Orville Clay Fraley
1931-2008

MOREHEAD - Mr. Orville Clay Fraley, age 77 of Mt. Sterling, passed away Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.

He was born on April 20, 1931 in Bath County. Kentucky to the late Burns and Austa Snedegar Fraley.

Mr. Fraley was retired from the Universal Leaf Tobacco Company and was also a retired farmer. He was a veteran having served in the United States Air Force. Mr. Fraley was a member of the Countryside Church of Christ and attended the Gateway Christian Church in Mt. Sterling. He was a member and past master of the Phelps Lodge No. 482, the Eastern Star, American Legion and a former member of the Adams County (Ohio) Fair Board.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Wilma Jean Fraley.

Survivors include his wife Betty Burns Fraley of Mt. Sterling.

One son, James N. (Patricia) Fraley of Peebles, Ohio, one daughter, Stephanie Fraley (George) McCoy of Peebles, Ohio. Two step-sons, Bill (Pam)Dameron of Lebanon, Ohio, Robert Dameron of Morehead. One step-daughter, Marsha (Doug) Hood of Winchester. Kentucky.

One brother, James (Becky) Fraley of Owingsville, Kentucky, one sister, Lodema Fraley Jones of Morehead, Kentucky.

Four Grandchildren, one Great-Grandchild and six Step-Grandchildren.

Also, several other relatives and friends who will miss him too.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Sunday at the Midland First Church of God with Rev. Bush Stevenson and Rev. Lowell Rice officiating.

Burial will follow in the Brown Cemetery in Morehead.

Visitation at Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home is after 5:00 P.M. Saturday.

Full military rites will be conducted at the graveside by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.

Masonic services by the Phelps Lodge No. 482 will be conducted 7:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.

Serving as Pall Bearers will be Danny Fraley, Bernie McGlone, Jim McGlone, Bill McGlone, John Royalty and Doug Hood.

Honorary Bearers will be Zane Alexander, Wilbur Bowlin, Bill Haddix, Phil Russell, Earl James Norris, Mark Dameron, Josh Hood, Nathan Hood and Leslie Christy.

Contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 2312 Alexandria Drive, Lexington, Kentucky 40504 or the Midland First Church of God.

Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home is caring for all arrangements for Mr. Orville Clay Fraley.

Osborne McKee
1917-2008

HILLSBORO – Osborne McKee, age 90, of Hillsboro, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2008, at Thompson-Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore, Kentucky.

Born August 18, 1917, in Fleming County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Ernest and Amelia Cooper McKee.

Osborne was a retired farmer and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. While serving with the 2nd Armored, he was in the following battles and campaigns: Algeria-French Morocco; Sicily; Normandy, Northern France and Rhineland (Germany). He was awarded the European Theater Ribbon with five Bronze Stars; American Defense Service Medal; Good Conduct Ribbon, Bronze Star Medal per Headquarters 2nd Armored Division October 1944.

He was a member of the V.F. W. and the American Legion.

Osborne is survived by friends of the Hillsboro community and cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, August 8, 2008, at the Hutton Funeral Home with the Rev. James Humphries officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro cemetery with full military rites conducted by Flemingsburg Franklin Sousley VFW Post 1834 and American Legion Post No. 5.

Pallbearers will be Don Humphries, Vernon Walker, Sammy Lewis, Roy Wayne Sorrell, Wayne Lewis, and William Thompson.

Visitation is from noon until 2 p.m. Friday, August 8, 2008, at Hutton Funeral Home, Hillsboro, Kentucky.
