Harold Caudill
1928-2007
CALIFORNIA – A Celebration of Life service for Harold L. Caudill will be held January 5, 2008, at 2 pm in the Lucas Valley Community Church, 2000 Las Gallinas Street, San Rafael, California, 94903.
Harold Caudill went to be with the Lord on December 24, 2007. He was born in rural Clearfield, Kentucky, on December 16, 1928. Harold was the third and youngest son of Everett and Anna Caudill. His brothers Virgil and Delbert were joined in the family by Chloie, Joyce and Janice.
After graduating near the top of his Morehead, Kentucky, high school class Harold followed his oldest brother Virgil to Richland, Washington, to work for General Electric Company at the Hanford government works. He began his working career as a warehouseman and then moved into chemical waste processing as a technician. It was in Richland that he met his wife of 56 _ years Edna May Nicholls, of Twin Bridges, Montana. Edna and Harold were married
in Butte, Montana, on July 8, 1951. In 1956, with their two-year old son Paul in tow, the family moved to Bozeman, Montana, where Harold enrolled in Chemical Engineering at Montana State University. Harold graduated with a Chemical Engineering degree in three years and while at Bozeman established deep friendships that have stood the test of time for nearly 50 years.
Following graduation, Harold accepted an engineering position back with General Electric and returned to Richland, where their second child Colleen was born in 1959. Harold progressed through a series of engineering then management assignments with General Electric, Fluor, and Atlantic Richfield before accepting employment with Exxon Nuclear in the early 1970’s. Exxon Nuclear moved the family to the San Francisco Bay area for his initial assignment and the family bought a home in Novato, California, where Edna still resides. Harold retired in 1989 and then worked as a management consultant for two years with Siemens, spending many months in Germany. He was named an Honorary “Kentucky Colonel” at the 50-year celebration of his high school graduating class.
Harold’s love for his family was at the center of his life. He very rarely missed his son’s baseball games or his daughter’s dance recitals despite a challenging workload. He was a member of Central United Protestant Church in Richland, Washington, for nearly 27 years and remained an active member at Lucas Valley Community Church in San Rafael, California, until his passing. Harold was a “good to excellent” fly fisherman, having fished the rivers and streams of western Montana for over 50 years. He took up golf about the time of his retirement and loved his weekly tee time with buddies at Indian Valley Golf Course in Novato. Harold and Edna traveled a good deal after his retirement and were avid campers. He tended an annual vegetable garden, sharing the results of his labor with friends and neighbors. Harold will be greatly missed by all who enjoyed his quiet and gentle manner, not to mention his storytelling.
Harold is survived by his wife Edna; sister Janice Van Hook of Morehead, Kentucky; son Paul and daughter-in-law Jane of Omaha, Nebraska; daughter Colleen of Ramona, California; grandchildren Tony, Sean, Kevin, Anna, Cordy, Sam and great-granddaughter Eva; brother-in-law Bill Nicholls of Twin Bridges, Montana; sister-in-law Lucy Edington of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho; brother-in-law Harold Nicholls and wife Donna of Butte, Montana; brother-in-law Tom Nicholls and wife Beverly of Helena, Montana; brother-in-law Bernie Nicholls and wife Trudy of Pony, Montana; brother-in-law Richard Nicholls and partner Harold Lombardi of Rohnert Park, California; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be sent to Lucas Valley Community Church/African Aids Orphanage, 2000 Las Gallinas Street, San Rafael, CA 94903.

Sister Flanery and the members, that helped so faithfully, accomplished their goal and paid for the property and construction of the basement. Emma also contributed to the construction by laying the concrete blocks for the Sunday School rooms.
The congregation grew to a record attendance of 135.
