Jane Litton Allen
1949-2008

MOREHEAD - Jane Litton Allen, age 58, of Cranston Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at her residence.

She was born April 8, 1949, in Lexington, Kentucky, and is the daughter of Bill Litton of Morehead, Kentucky, and the late Janet Patrick Litton. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by a brother, Danny Litton in 1958.

Besides her father, Janie is survived by her husband, James Arville “Arv” Allen; two sons, James Robert Allen and wife Heather of Dawsonville, Georgia, and John David Allen of San Francisco, California; two daughters, Mary Allen Whitaker and husband James of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and Sarah Allen Kelly and husband Mike of Loveland, Ohio; and eight grandchildren, Michael Whitaker, Aidan Kelly, TJ Allen, Harper Kelly, Ainsley Allen, Maggie Allen, and twins Janie and Annie Whitaker.

Janie was a 1966 graduate of Breckinridge Training School, where she was a cheerleader. She received the bachelor’s degree from Morehead State University, the master’s degree from Idaho State University, and supervision and principalship certifications from Morehead State University.

Janie was a retired elementary supervisor with the Rowan County Board of Education, a former principal at Farmers Elementary and Elliottville Elementary, and a former teacher at Morehead Grade School.

She was member of the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association and the Elliottville Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, April 5, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Tim Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow in Lee Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Terry Jackson, Terry Peake, Jim Whitaker, Mike Kelly, Mike Hearn, and Harvey Pennington.

Visitation is after 2 p.m. Friday, April 4, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Robert Beckelhymer
1914-2008

MOREHEAD - Robert Beckelhymer, age 93, of Wayland, New York, formerly of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2008, at the VA Medical Center in Bath, New York.

He was born December 23, 1914, in Hamilton, Ohio, and was the son of the late Ansel and Parriot Logston Beckelhymer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Estes Beckelhymer.

He is survived by two sons, Raymond Beckelhymer and Steven Beckelhymer, both of Fairfield, Ohio; two daughters, Darlene Ohara and husband Larry of Wayland, New York, and Cheryl Moore of Morehead, Kentucky; two brothers, Sturlen Beckelhymer of Oxford, Ohio, and Oscar Beckelhymer of Hamilton, Ohio; and two sisters, Lenora Shockley of Lakeland, Florida, and Joanna Robertson of Irvine, Kentucky; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mr. Beckelhymer served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1940-1945. He was a branch worker with the Champion Paper Company in Hamilton, Ohio, for 30 years.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2008, at Thomas Baptist Church in Irvine, Kentucky, with the Rev. Ricky Kirby officiating. Burial will follow in the Boian Cemetery in Irvine, Kentucky. Full military rites will be conducted at graveside by Irvine American Legion.

Visitation is from noon until 2 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2008, at Thomas Baptist Church in Irvine, Kentucky.

Arrangements are under the direction of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Lettie Virginia Mays Loveless
1907-2008

MOREHEAD - Lettie Virginia Mays Loveless, age 100, of Circle Drive, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at her residence after a short illness.

Born July 20, 1907, in Elliott County, Kentucky, and raised in Rowan County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late John and Fannie Pennington Mays. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Loveless, on February 25, 1971; one son, Johnny C. Loveless in 1998; and three daughters, Gladys (Tootsie) Taylor in 1990, Katherine Allison in 2002, and Joan Loveless in 2008.

Mrs. Loveless is survived by one son, James L. Loveless of Richmond, Kentucky; three daughters, Priscilla Hanvelt of Whittier, California, Sue Kempsell of Bel Air, Maryland, and Diana Kay Loveless of Morehead, Kentucky.

Other survivors include 13 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.

An independent spirit, Mrs. Loveless lived unassisted in her own home for 83 years. The matriarch of her family, she loved traveling, especially visiting with family and friends. She was also an avid reader and enjoyed sewing, gardening and her flowers. She was a member of No. 20, Whitman Church, Whitman, West Virginia.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Joaquin Ooten of Whitman, West Virginia, officiating. Interment will be 1 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2008, in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Henlawson, West Virginia.

Visitation is after 5 p.m. Friday, April 4, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Gene Edward Johnson
1966-2007

MOREHEAD - Gene Edward Johnson, age 41, of Knoxville, Tennessee, formerly of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Friday, December 21, 2007, at his residence.

He was born April 29, 1966, in Dayton, Ohio, and was the son of Bobby Johnson and Shirley Terrell Johnson of Hillsboro, Kentucky, and the late Patricia Conley Young of Knoxville.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by one daughter, Sydney Brianna Johnson, and one son, Dalton Patrick Johnson, both of Knoxville, Tennessee. Also surviving are one brother, Rick Johnson of Portsmouth, Ohio, and three sisters, Tammy Darby and husband Jeff of Bucyrus, Ohio, Penny Bowman and husband Johnny of Morehead, Kentucky, and Glenda Meredith of Wichita Falls, Texas.

Gene was a 1984 graduate of Rowan County Senior High School where he was a member of the baseball and football teams.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday, December 27, 2007, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. James DeAtley officiating. Burial will be in the New Alfrey Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Travis Johnson, Jeremy Darby, Jareb Darby, Jonathan Bowman, Michael Hardin, Sean Johnson, Greg Jackson, and Robbie Barker.

Visitation is after 5 p.m. Wednesday, December 26, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Anna Lee Jones Black
1935-2008

MOREHEAD - Anna Lee Jones Black, age 72, of Wallingford, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2008, at the Fleming County Hospital in Flemingsburg. She was born October 14, 1935, in Rowan

County, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late Willie Lee and Anna Jane Lewis Jones.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Lowell Gene Jones on January 31, 2002.

She is survived by two sons, Larry Campbell and wife Barbara of Cleveland, Ohio, and Rick Campbell of Lexington, Kentucky; two daughters, Phyllis Davis of Morehead, Kentucky, and Brenda Wise and husband Rick of Lexington, Kentucky; two brothers, Kenneth Jones and wife Robin of Mays Lick, Kentucky, and Burl Ray Jones and wife Janice of Morehead, Kentucky; a sister, Loretta Joyce Jones Weaver and husband Bill of Wallingford, Kentucky; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Mrs. Black was a former employee of the Dixie Grill in Morehead and attended the Mt. Pisgah Christian Church.

Funeral services were conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, February 3, 2008, at Mt. Pisgah Church with the Rev. James DeAtley officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth Ray Jones, Shawn Jones, Mike Davis, Dale Davis, Erick Campbell, and Rickey Lee Campbell.

Visitation was after 5 p.m. Saturday, February 2, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Tansey Marie Kinder Gulley
1925-2008

MOREHEAD - Tansey Marie Kinder Gulley, age 82, of Yellville, Arkansas, formerly of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2008, at the Marion County Nursing Home in Yellville, Arkansas.

She was born on March 29, 1925, in Morehead, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late Robert Harrison and Beatrice Fraley Kinder. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Alvie Gulley on September 26, 1960; two sons, Fred and DeWayne Gulley; four brothers, Lloyd, Harrison, George and Bobby Kinder; and one sister, Alta Mae McClease.

Tansey Marie is survived by two sons, Larry Gulley and wife Sharon of Chesterfield, Indiana, and Tim Gulley, Sr. and wife Lisa of Muncie, Indiana; two daughters, Bonnie Sanders and husband Mike of Yellville, Arkansas, and Sandra Sargent and husband Tony of Flippin, Arkansas; her daughter-in-law, Joyce Gulley of Selma, Indiana; one brother, Dan Kinder of Morehead, Kentucky; two sisters, Laura Cooper of Flemingsburg, Kentucky and Louise Estep of Parker City, Indiana. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Tansey Marie was a former Nursing Assistant at the Delaware County Nursing Home in Delaware County, Indiana. She was a member of the Blountsville Nazarene Church in Blountsville, Indiana.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 5, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Reverend Lansford May and Reverend Butch Kelsey officiating.

Burial will follow at the Clark Cemetery on Cranston Road. Pallbearers will be Marvin McClease, Amos Wright, Carl Estep, Mickey Pierce, Forrest Cooper, Dallas Brown, and Ronnie Estep.

Visitation will be after 5:00 p.m. Monday, February 4, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
