Karen Adkins
Karen King Adkins, 52, of Williamson, W.Va., died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2005, at Pikeville Medical Center.
She was born in Williamson, Nov. 11, 1952, a daughter of the late John Jr. and Madeline Gannon King.
She was a homemaker and of the Pentecostal faith.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, her twin, Sharon King, and Bobbie Jean King.
She is survived by her former husband, Charlie Jim Adkins of Taylorville, W.Va.; one son, John C. Adkins of Williamson; one daughter, Rebecca K. Adkins of Williamson; one brother, Wilburn E. King of Williamson; two sisters, Carolyn Sue (Mrs. Bobby) Hensley of Williamson and Martha Jane (Mrs. Jack) Stacy of Stone; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 30, in the Hatfield Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Delbert McCoy officiating. Burial will follow in the Thompson-Moore Cemetery, Burnwell. Arrangements are under direction of Hatfield Funeral Chapel of Toler.
Visitation is after 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday with special services at 7 p.m. Saturday.
Mary Mullins
Mary Mullins, 91, of Johns Fork, Jenkins, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2005, at the Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital.

Audie Overstreet
Audie Douglas Overstreet, 53, of Elkhorn City, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2005, at his home.
He was born in Pike County, July 14, 1951, a son of Ellen Puckett Overstreet of Ashcamp and the late Fred Overstreet.
He was a coal miner.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jessie Douglas Overstreet; and one brother, Harry Thomas Overstreet.
Besides his mother, he is survived by two daughters, Tammy Overstreet of Pensacola, Fla., and Hollie Hawkins of Regina; four brothers, James Freddie Overstreet, Jerry Wayne Overstreet, and Mike Douglas Overstreet, all of Elkhorn City, Timmy Dale Overstreet of Ashcamp; two sisters, Barbara Wallace of Charlotte, N.C., and Delilah Allman of Elkhorn City; and one grandson, Logan Keith Hawkins.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 28, in the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with Charles Wright, Larry Puckett and Phillip Hines officiating. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery, Chloe Road. Arrangements are under direction of Bailey Funeral Home of Elkhorn City.
Sanford Powell Jr.
Sanford Allen Powell Jr., 40, of Jenkins, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2005, at his home.
He was born in Clintwood, Va., June 20, 1960, a son of Sanford Powell Sr. and the late Irene Greer Powell.
He was employed by the Pike County Fiscal Court as a heavy equipment operator.
He is survived by two sons, Brandon Powell of Sevierville, Tenn., and Christopher Powell of Beefhide; four sisters, Priscilla Hackworth of Churchill, Tenn., Margaret Johnson of Myra, Janet Thacker of Shelby Gap, Sherri Stephan of Crestwood; and two grandchildren.

Vada Rogers
Vada Rogers, 80, of Harold, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2005, at Pikeville Health Care Center.
She was born March 17, 1924, a daughter of the late Richard and Cora Osborne Adkins.
She was retired from Shurtleff's Laundry and was a member of the Betsy Layne Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Rogers; and three brothers.
She is survived by one son, Charles Rogers of Harold; one daughter, Patty Case of Toler Creek, Harold; two sisters; six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, in the Betsy Layne Church of Christ. Burial will follow in the Sturgill Cemetery, Toler. Arrangements are under direction of Thacker Memorial Funeral Home of Pikeville.
Visitation is in the funeral home chapel at anytime Friday with special services at 7 p.m.
Martha Williams
Martha L. Williams, 86, of Hellier, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2005, at South Williamson Appalachian Regional Hospital.
She was born in Pike County, May 5, 1918, a daughter of the late George and Georgie England.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Allegheny Freewill Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Daris Williams.
She is survived by two sons, Millard Odell Williams of Sycamore and James Michael Williams of Obetz, Ohio; two daughters, Patricia Green of Baxter, Tenn., and Jannie Tackett of Hellier; one sister, Milo Gibson of Allegheny; 11 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, in the Allegheny Freewill Baptist Church with Tommy Tackett and others officiating. Burial will follow in the Robinson Cemetery, Allegheny Road, Hellier. Arrangements are under direction of Bailey Funeral Home of Elkhorn City.
Harvey Akers
Harvey Akers, 86, of Pikeville, died Friday, April 7, 2006 at Pikeville Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 10, 1919 in Pike County, a son of the late Johnny and Ethel Dye Akers.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, retired from Ky. West Virginia Gas Company, and a member of Island Creek Old Regular Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and six sisters.
He is survived by three brothers, Carmel Akers, Harrison Akers and Chester Akers, all of Pikeville.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 10 at 1 p.m. at Island Creek Old Regular Baptist Church with Regular Baptist ministers officiating. Burial will follow at Akers Cemetery, Island Creek Road, Pikeville with D.A.V. military rites at the cemetery with Betsy Layne Chapter 169 officiating. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Arrangements are under direction of J.W. Call and Son Funeral Home, Pikeville.
Robert Anderson
Robert Gail Anderson, 68, of Burdine, died Saturday, April 8, 2006 at Jenkins Community Hospital.

Judith Baker
Judith Gail Baker, 59, of Sidney, died Thursday, April 6, 2006, at her residence.
She was born in Pike County, July 12, 1946, a daughter of Lawrence and Rachel Elswick of Canada.
She was a homemaker and a member of the McVeigh United Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by one son, Scott Baker.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas D. Baker; one son, Michael Baker of Pikeville; one brother, Junior Elswick of Canada; three sisters, Connie Chapman and Patsy Blackburn, both of Canada, and Madonna Williamson of Pinsonfork.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 8, in the Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Orbie Justice officiating. Burial followed in the Family Cemetery at Sidney.
Arrangements were under direction of Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry.
Mousie Carroll
Mousie Lou Ellen Carroll, 55, of Printer, died Friday, April 7, 2006, at her residence.
She was born in Printer, June 13, 1950, a daughter of the late Carl Greer and Amie Carver Greer.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Old Time Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Azzie Carroll; and one daughter Ida Sue Carroll of Printer.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, April 9, in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel in Martin, with Farley Howard and Farris Lawson officiating. Burial will follow in the Jeff Hunter Cemetery at Printer.
