Myrtle Joyce Williamson, 61, of Canada, KY, passed away Tuesday February 2, 2012, at Pikeville Medical Center.
She was born October 4, 1950 at Williamson, WV to the late Carl and Sadie Marie Justice Reed. She was also preceded in death by one son; John Randall Williamson, one grandson; Matthew Randall Williamson and one brother; Jack Reed.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.
She is survived by her husband; Roy G. Williamson of Canada, KY, three sons; Roy (Melissa) Williamson of Canada, KY, Donald C. Williamson of Belfry, Ky. and Jack David (Linda) Williamson of Canada, Ky. one daughter; Breanna Nichole Williamson of Canada, Ky. two brothers; Clinton (Ann) Reed of Canada, Ky. and Larry David (Sandy) Reed of Culpeper, Va. one sister; Janice Sessons of Raleigh, N.C. three grandchildren; Michelle Marie Williamson, Suzanne Katelynn Williamson and Jack David Williamson II, one great grandchild; Braden Allen John Williamson and a host of loving family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM Saturday February 4, 2012 at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home with Mitchell Bias officiating.
Burial will follow in the Family Cemetery, Canada, Ky. with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held after 6 PM Friday, February 3, 2012 at the Funeral Home Chapel.
Herman Clarence Smith, 77 of Pikeville, KY, formerly of Belfry, KY, passed away Friday, February 3, 2012, at the Pikeville Medical Center.
He was born February 22, 1934 in Pike County, Ky. the son of the late Clarence and Rhoda Harmon Smith. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Luther Smith and a granddaughter, Chasity Anderson.
Herman was a longtime educator with the Pike County Board of Education having taught at Belfry High School and Runyon Elementary School and served as principal at Johns Creek and Brushy Creek Elementary Schools. He was also a former basketball coach at the old Sharondale Grade School and a boys and girls basketball coach at Brushy Creek Elementary School. He was a veteran of the US Navy during the Korean Conflict and a member of the McVeigh Baptist Church.
Survivors include his loving wife, Linda Lopez Smith of Pikeville, Ky.; sons, Mike (Lisa) Smith of Pinsonfork, KY, Rick (Melinda) Smith of Sidney, Ky. and Carl (Alicia) Smith of Inez, Ky.; sister, Jean Deskins of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren, Taylor Smith, Brandon Smith, Virginia Anderson, Eric Smith, Maranda Smith, Logan Smith and Elizabeth Smith and a host of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 5, 2012 at 2 PM in the R. E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with James Justice officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy, KY, with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Belfry Chapter #141 Disabled American Veterans will conduct military graveside services.

Summer Michelle Taylor, 11, of Pinsonfork, KY, went home to be with Jesus Sunday morning, February 5, 2012 at her home.
She was born May 5, 2000 at South Williamson, KY, the daughter of Michael Lee and Angela Michelle Bevins Taylor of Pinsonfork, Ky.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Monroe and Lassie Taylor; uncles, Olen Taylor and Virgil Maynard and aunts, Myrtle Ingram and Peggy Taylor.
Summer loved attending Bevins Elementary School and the McAndrews Church of Christ.
Other than her parents, she is survived by one brother, Tyler Adam Taylor of the Home; maternal grandparents, Greg and Teresa Bevins of Burnwell, Ky.; aunts, Kimerly (Shawn) Christian and Greta Bevins of Burnwell, KY, Geraldine (Arnold) Lowe of McAndrews, KY, Leona (Roger) Young of Turkey Creek, Ky. and Birdie (Avery) Sluss of Beckley, WV; uncles, Gregory Kent (Mary) Bevins II of Burnwell, KY, Will (Louise) Taylor of Huddy, KY, John Taylor and Bill (Shelia) Taylor of McAndrews, Ky.; special friends, Cobe Fouch and Josh Hubbard and many other family and friends.

George Allen, 88, of Belfry, KY, died Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, at Trinity Healthcare in Williamson, WV.
He was born March 13, 1923 in Atlanta, Ga. the son of the late William and Jessie Hayden Allen. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, two sons, four brothers and one sister.
He was a carpenter by trade and a veteran of the United States Army.
George is survived by his wife, Loretta Allen of Belfry, Ky.; three daughters, Tammy, Pam and Janet all of Chicago, Il.; step son, Layton Varney of Chicago, Il, sister, Mildred of Ga.; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Per George's request there will be no services only direct cremation.
Agnes Joyce Stanley, 93, of Hurricane, WV, formerly of Huddy, KY, passed away Tuesday February 7, 2012 at approximately 11:30 A.M. in Putnam Care and Rehabilitation Center, Hurricane, WV.
She was born March 12, 1918 at Huddy, Ky. to the late Mitch and Octavia Varney Blackburn. She is also preceded in death by her husband; Trimble Stanley, three sisters and four brothers.
She formerly worked in Wellington, Ohio and was a member of the Old Regular Baptist Church.
She is survived by her nephew and caregiver; Burl and Ruth Blackburn of Hurricane, WV as well as several other nieces and nephews, family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM Friday February 10, 2012 at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home with Old Regular Baptist Ministers officiating.

Lakie Anise Taylor, 90 of Ocala, Fl. passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2012.
She was born December 15, 1921 to Joseph and Rose Collins Taylor in Heenan, Pike County, Ky.
She attended Pikeville College where she learned to utilize her talent for art. She was very creative and passed this legacy on to her children and grandchildren. She also worked for and retired from the South Williamson, Kentucky Appalachian Regional Healthcare Hospital as a Food Service Supervisor.
Mom loved Jesus and was a member of the Big Branch Old Regular Baptist Church since 1949. This was another legacy she passed on to her children and grandchildren.
We love you Mom, you will live in our hearts forever.
After marriage of 70+ years she was preceded in death by her husband, James Landon Taylor II, grandson, Eric N. Weidle, granddaughter, Lacy Mae Taylor, great-grandson, Collin Jackson and 8 brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her daughters, Lanise G. (Charlie) Weidle of Middletown, Ohio; Loretta D. (Doug) Leach of Versailles, Ky. and her son, James L. (Catherine) Taylor III of Ocala, Fl.; six grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

A golden heart has stopped beating. Mintie Blackburn has completed her journey to heaven, passing from this earth on February 15, 2012, surrounded by family and friends.
Mintie was born October 10, 1924 in Thomas, KY, the daughter of the late Johnny and Trixie L. Nichols. She was the faithful wife of the late Pem Blackburn, and mother to LaGrand Parsons (deceased), Pamela Blackburn of Belfry, Ky. and George Carey Blackburn of San Antonio, Texas and the adopted Mother to many. Other survivors include two brothers, Bill (Hazel) Nichols of Winchester, Ky. and Wilburn (Brenda) Nichols of Columbus, Ohio; one sister, Mary Frona Justice of Pikeville, Ky.; Daughter-in-law, Sharon Parsons, Akron, Ohio; two grandchildren, Deborah (Ron) Webb and Kim Osborne and three great grandchildren, Paige and Ashley Webb and Joshua Osborne.
Mintie was retired having worked at Deacon Cleaners, Runyon Elementary School, Mary Helen Coal Co. and McDonald's. She was a member of the Little Hope Primitive Baptist Church. Little Hope Church will sadly miss her as well as congregations in several area churches. She loved to hear beautiful singing and sincere prayers.

Eugene Hatfield, 82 of Hardy, Ky. passed away Thursday, February 23, 2012 at the ARH Skilled Nursing Facility at South Williamson, Ky. due to a lingering illness.
He was born March 31, 1929 at Mudlick, Ky. to the late Ed and Exie Scott Hatfield. He spent many of his early years living in Martin County, Ky. In addition to his parents, Eugene was preceded in death by his sister, Lenora Hatfield McCoy, brothers, Jack and Franklin Hatfield, son-in-law, Big Neil Blackburn and grandchild, Miles Randel Hatfield II.
Eugene was a member of the Hardy Church of Christ, where he was a member for over twenty years. He was a retired employee of Pounding Mill Coal Company of McCarr, Ky. Prior to that he was employed by Tri-State Welding Company of Williamson, WV. He was well known for his expertise in welding and was often called upon to do private jobs for people. In his early years he worked in the sawmill and logging business with his father. He was a welder for 66 years. Eugene had a reputation as a hard worker. Even up into the fall of last year, he could often be seen outside mowing the lawn or doing other handyman work around the house. He was also a very caring and loving father and husband and kind to all who knew him. He love going to church.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lou Anna Small Hatfield of Hardy, Ky.; sons, Jimmy Hatfield (Anna) of Martin County, Ky. and Miles Randel Hatfield (Blanche) of Hardy, Ky.; daughters, Iva Jean Runyon (Butch) of Forest Hills, KY, Debbie Blackburn Foley (David) of Huddy, Ky. and son, Wilson Dale Hatfield (Janeine) of Myrtle Beach, SC; and sister, Ruth Hatfield Williamson of Columbia Station, Ohio. Surviving grandchildren are Ricky Hatfield, Miles Randel Hatfield III, Weston Hatfield, Taylor Brooke Runyon, Nathan Hatfield and Ashley Blackburn Bailey and two great grandchildren. He also leaves behind two special friends, Otto Stepp of Inez, Ky. and Doris Crum of Inez, Ky.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, February 27, at 1 PM at Rogers Funeral Home with Minister Ed Lockard officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. View Memory Gardens at Huddy, Ky. James Spencer, 82, of McCarr, KY, passed away Friday February 24, 2012 at his residence. He was born November 3, 1929 at McCarr, KY, to the late Logan and Nevah Bayes Spencer. He is also preceded in death by his wife; Brooksie Blankenship Spencer, five sisters; Gracie Carter, Cleo Moore, Mary R. Smith, Ocie Presley and Myrtle Scott and three brothers; Albert Spencer, Elmer Spencer and George B. Spencer.
He was the last standing member of the Enon Old Regular Baptist Church, a member of the Turkey Creek Old Regular Baptist Church, a retired coal miner, a member of the U.M.W.A. and a veteran of the U. S. Marines.
He is survived by two sons; James Larry (Kay) Spencer of Athens, GA. and "Bobby" Robert Spencer of McCarr, KY, one daughter; Anetha D. (Gary) Varney of McCarr, KY, five grandchildren; Robby (Kathy) Spencer, Tonya Spencer, Jamie (Michelle) Varney, Margaret Ann Spencer and James Alanson Spencer, two great grandchildren; Alayna Brooklynn Varney and Rylan Reed Varney and a host of loving family and friends.

Charles Ray West, 85, of Canada, Kentucky, passed away Monday, February 27, 2012 at his residence.
He was born March 8, 1926 in Pike County, Kentucky a son of the late Kenna and Cordia Blackburn West. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Dwayne West; one brother, Glen West and Sister-in-law, Bessie West.
Charles worked as a roofer in the Construction business, was a member of the Leckieville Freewill Baptist Church and served his country with the United States Navy.
He is survived by his wife, Esta Lee May West of Canada, Ky.; one daughter, Alicia (Chris) Hall of Canada, Kentucky; two sons, Donnie (Mary) West of Michigan and Timmy (Wilma) West of Jackson, Kentucky; two step daughters, Deborah (Manis) Jones, of Prestonsburg, Kentucky and Crystal (Ricky Dale) Whitt of Stone, Kentucky; three step sons, Mark Williamson of Sidney, Kentucky, Tony Williamson of Sidney, Kentucky and Darrin (Suzanne) Williamson of Sidney, Kentucky; one brother, Bobby (May Fern) West of Florida; two sisters, Sue (Dave) Smith of Delaware, Ohio and Mildred (Ken) Varney of Arizona; twenty grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
