Polly Faye Smith Crawford, 83, of Ransom, Ky. passed away Friday morning, October 8, 2010 at her residence.
She was born March 11, 1927 at Ransom, Ky. the daughter of the late Butler and Judy Smith. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Edsel Ford Crawford, son-in-law, Tommy Dale Maynard, brothers, App and Daniel B. Smith and sisters, Columbia Varney, Cordella Hatfield, Octavia Hatfield, Ocie Smith, Georgia Ball, Bertha Duty and Ethel Mae May.
Polly was a homemaker and a member of the Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Eva Gail Maynard of Ransom, Ky.; grandchildren, LaDonna Maynard, Tommy Lee (Alice) Maynard and Jennifer Romaine Maynard; great grandchildren, Stephanie (Baby Doll) Maynard and Raylee Maynard; step great grandchildren: Jeanetta and Lyndsey Horn and step great great grandchild, Haiden Grayce Leedy all of Ransom, Ky.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Monday, October 11, 2010 at the R. E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Smith and Emery Varney officiating. Burial will follow in the Butler Smith Cemetery, Ransom, Ky. with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Special services will be held at 7 PM Saturday with Emery Varney and Larry Hubbard and Sunday night at 7 PM with Mike Smith.
Claude Ball, 73, of Pinsonfork, Ky. passed away Wednesday night, October 13, 2010 at his residence.
He was born November 16, 1936 in Pike County, Ky. the son of the late Dicy Wolford and Martin Ball Sr. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Gracie Varney Ball, three brothers; Berlin, Hassell and Martin Ball Jr.; two sisters, Sophia D'Amico and Robena Epling and a grandson, Brian Holbrook. Claude was a retired employee from the Appalachian Regional Hospital.
Survivors include his daughter, Teresa (Ralph) Rollins of McAndrews, Ky.; sons, Ricky L. (Renee) Ball of Williamson, WV and Claude Michael (Francene) Ball of Ball Fork, Ky.; three sisters. Josephine Mounts of Ball Fork, KY, Roberta Sparks of Florida and Betty Williamson of Huddy, Ky.; three grandchildren, Linzi Grace Ball, Maecie Lee-Ann Rollins and Bradley Hager; a special niece, Gloria Lynn Hensley of Ball Fork, Ky. and a special friend, Juanita Robinette and a host of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon Saturday, October 16, 2010 at the R.E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Raymond Stanley, Kenny Chapman and Larry Slone officiating. Burial will follow in the Julius Scott Cemetery, Hardy, Ky. with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held after 6 PM Friday, October 15, 2010 at the Funeral Home Chapel.
Betty Ann Stacy Edwards 78, of Ragland, W.V., went home to be with her Lord with her family by her side on Thursday October 14, 2010 at the Appalachian Regional Hospital. She was born October 10, 1932 at War Eagle, W.V. to the late Joe Stacy Sr. and Florence Brown Ferguson. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Vernon Edwards; one sister; Emma Jean Hamilton and two brothers; Joe Stacy Jr., and Robert Stacy. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by one son; Walter Grant (Rita) Edwards of Ragland, W.V., four daughters; Patricia Ann (James) Runyon of Ragland, W.V., Debbie (Reece) Moore of Ragalnd, W.V., Darlene (David) Murphy of Beech Creek, W.V., and Lois Denise (Don) Taylor of Turkey Creek, KY, two brothers; Arvil Stacy of Suffolk, Va., and Rayburn Stacy of Marmet, W.V., seven granddaughters; Chasity Spencer, Kellie Evans, Tonya (Moe) Lowe, Sabrina Hurley, Alisha Brewer, Jamie Peck and Ashley Williams, thirteen great grandchildren and one great grandchild on the way.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Monday October 18, 2010 at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home with Mitchell Bias and Bill Snodgrass officiating. Entombment will follow at Mountain View Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Huddy, Ky. with Grandson-in-laws serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be after 6 PM Sunday night at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home.
Chad Lee Morris, 22, of Hatfield, Ky. took his journey home Sunday, October 17, 2010.
Michael and Shelia Morris were blessed with his birth on September 6, 1988 at Pikeville, Ky.
Chad was a very loving and very spirited young man, who was loved beyond words and will be missed greatly.
He is survived by his parents, Michael Dwayne and Sheila Ann Hackney Morris of Hatfield, Ky.; brother and sister-in-law, Billy Michael and Marie Morris of Sidney, Ky; niece, Chloe Renee Morris and nephew; Bradyn Michael Morris whom he loved very much; grandmothers, Ollie Hackney of Dix Fork, Ky. and Linda Workman of Stone, Ky. and a host of Aunts, Uncles and Cousins and other family and friends.

Jack Fleming, 86, of Hazard, Kentucky formerly of Hardy, passed away Friday, October 22, 2010 in the Hazard Appalachian Regional Hospital, Hazard, Kentucky.
Born February 11, 1924 at Wolfpit, Kentucky a son of the late George Washinton Fleming and Nola Hinkle Fleming. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Jack was a truck driver and served his country with the United States Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Hardy Church of Christ.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews and friends.
Graveside Services will be held 11 A.M. Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at Mt. View Memory Gardens with Edd Lockard officiating. Belfry Chapter DAV 141 will conduct Military Rites.
Leslie Lou "Lisa" Hall, 48 of Stone, Ky.passed away Sunday, October 24, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital, Huntington, WV.
She was born August 22, 1962 at Williamson, WV the daughter of JoAnn Marcum of McCarr, Ky. and the late Mont Hall. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Bobo Hall.
She was a homemaker and a former nurse's aid and member of the Pinsonfork Church of God.
Survivors include her daughter, Sabrina Dawn Bowling of Lawrence County, Ky.; son, Ronnie Seth Adkins of Stone, Ky.; Mother and Step Father, JoAnn M. and Major Marcum of McCarr, Ky.; brothers; David and Glen (Pete) Curnutte both of McCarr, Ky.; sister. Emma (Todd) Young of McCarr, KY, her partner, Francis Thomas Broderick of Queens, New York and her very special aunt, Phyllis Reed.

Billy J. Blackburn, 73 of Lucasville, Ohio formerly of Canada, Ky. passed away Thursday, October 28, 2010 in Lucasville, Ohio.
He was born June 19, 1937 at Canada, Ky. the son of the late Paris and Thelma Spradlin Blackburn. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Alva Gene Blackburn and Chester Ray Blackburn and one sister, Clara Maynard.
He was a retired barber.
Survivors include four sons, Alvin Blackburn of Harrisburg, KY, Dwayne Blackburn of Spokane, WA, Chris Blackburn of Jeffersonville, Ky. and Perry Blackburn of Mt. Sterling, Ky.; two brothers, Roger Blackburn of Louisville, Ky. and Richard Blackburn of Oklahoma City, OK; three sisters, Ina Gay Thacker of Tuscon, AZ, Flo Ann Ables of New Albany, IN and Sara Jane Hastings of Louisville, Ky. and eleven grandchildren.

Clinton Jr. (C.J.) Williamson, 65 of Sidney, Ky. passed away Sunday, October 31, 2010 at the Appalachian Regional Hospital, South Williamson, Ky.
He was born June 6, 1945 at Canada, Ky. the son of the late Omer and Gladys Crigger Williamson. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Clifford, Perry and Okie Williamson and one sister, Bessie M. Stacy.
He was a disabled United States Navy Veteran and a member of Belfry Chapter #141 D.A.V. He loved little children and always carried chewing gum in his pocket and offered to anyone who would take it. He was loved by many people and will be greatly missed by everyone. He was a God fearing person and of the Baptist Faith.
He is survived by sisters, Hazel (Bob) Thacker and Anna Baldwin all of Sidney, Ky. and Barbara (Onas Jr.) Deskins of Ray, Michigan and a host of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at the Dix Fork Old Regular Baptist Church with ministers of the church officiating. Burial will follow in the Family Cemetery, Sidney, Ky. with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Belfry Chapter #141 will conduct Military Graveside services. Visitation will be held after 6 PM Monday and Tuesday at the Dix Fork Old Regular Baptist Church with special services both nights at 7 PM with ministers of the church officiating.
William Bogar Stanley, 40, of Sidney, Ky. passed away Monday, November 1, 2010 at the Appalachian Regional Hospital.
He was born November 19, 1969 at South Williamson, Ky. the son of Ervil Stanley of Canada, Ky. and Gracie Mae Endicott Stanley of Williamson, WV. He was a disabled automobile mechanic.
Besides his parents he is survived by his wife, Kathyrin Elizabeth Young Stanley of Canada, Ky.; three sons, William Joshua, Christian Ryan and Isaiah Chase Stanley all of Canada, Ky.; step son, Cory Young of Canada, Ky.; three brothers, Roy Stanley of Tennessee, Timmy Stanley of Georgia and Ervil Jr. (June Bug) Stanley of Somerset, Ky.; two grandchildren, Kyra Renee Young and Braxton Michael Stanley and a host of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, November 5, 2010 at the Big Creek Primitive Baptist Church with Primitive Baptist Ministers officiating. Burial will follow in the Stanley Cemetery, Canada, Ky. with family and friends serving as pallbearers. James R. Lee, 67, resident of Statesville, North Carolina and formerly of Wellington, Ohio, died Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio.
He was born April 20, 1943 in Pike County, Kentucky a son of the late Austin and Phoebe (Cochran ) Lee. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his loving wife Della (Grizzel) Lee in 2003, and his sister Leona.
Jim was a member of the Abundant Life Church while he was in Ohio. While he was residing in North Carolina, he was a member of the Patriot Guard Military Motorcycle Honor Guard. He liked working out and in his younger years enjoyed karate and also taught karate. Jim served in the U.S. Army, 101st Airborne Division as a paratropper. In 1967 he relocated to Elyria, Ohio and was employed at the Ford Motor Company, Lorain Assembly Plant, where he started on the first assembly line and at retirement in 2000 he was a lift driver.
Survivors include three sons; Mack "Shane" (wife, Linda) Lee of Brooklyn, Ohio; Robert "Heath" (wife, shelly) of Amherst, Ohio; Dustin Lee of Washington, D.C.; five grandchildren; Nicholas, Madison, Morganne, Maizy and Peter James Lee; six sisters, Betty Chumley, Blackberry City, Kentucky, Sue Slone, North Carolina., Alice Mayhorn, North Carolina, Mary Lee, Belfry, Kentucky, Ruth Crum, Turkey, Creek, Kentucky, Louise Miller, Bristol, Virginia, and a brother "Doc" Lee, North Carolina.
Family will receive friends Thursday 6-8 P.M. at the Garland-Misencik Funeral Home, Amherst, Ohio and visitation Friday at the McVeigh United Pentecostal Church, McVeigh, Ky. Funeral Service will be at the church 1 P.M. Saturday November 6, 2010, with Joe Crum and James Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the Hatfield-Ellison Cemetery, Newtown, West Virginia, with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Military Services will be done by the Belfry Chapter #141 D.A.V.
Emma Stuart Slone Ferguson, 78 of Russell, Ky. passed away Wednesday, November 3. 2010 at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky.
She was born July 12, 1932 in Toler, Ky. a daughter of the late Joseph Tildon and Grace Brunty Stuart. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald R. Slone and Lowell "Ferg" Ferguson, a brother, Freddie Stuart, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Granville and Virginia Slone.
She was a member of Melrose United Methodist Church in Worthington, Ky. and a former member of Williamson Wesleyan Church of Williamson, WV.
Survivors include a son, David M. (Terri Bias) Slone of Valencia, CA; two daughters, Debbie (Greg) Slone Harbour of Russell, Ky. and Sheri (Floyd) Slone Tackett of Dublin, OH; a step-son, Jeff (and the late Paula Queen Warner) Ferguson of Ashland, KY, a step daughter, Stephanie (Larry) Ferguson Pentiuk of Lancaster, Oh; two brothers, Denby Stuart of Baltimore, MD and Doug (Betty) Stuart of Sevierville, Tn., a sister, Jodi (Corney) Hankins of Charlotte, NC, a sister-in-law, Linda Stuart of Toler, Ky; 11 grandchildren, G. James Joel Varney, 63 of Woodland Hills, Ca. formerly of Stone, Ky. died October 15, 2010.
He was born April 13, 1947 at Stone, Ky. the son of the late Chester and Patricia Miller Varney. He was also preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Nicholas Dock and Cleo Blackburn Varney; maternal grandparents, Ronald Miller and Marie S. Miller Emma; uncles, Harold Varney and Ronald R. Miller and a great uncle, Jefferson W. (Woody) Smith.
He was a member of the Sharondale Church of Christ, a retired computer analyst for Litton Industries in Los Angeles and a veteran serving four years in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.
Survivors include a great uncle, Orison Smith of Anaheim, Ca; great uncle and aunt, Ross and Joy Blackburn of Belfry, Ky.; great aunt, Loraine Smith of Belfry, Ky.; special cousins, Ursula Bowling of Valencia, Ca, Norma Levy of Indialantic, Fl., Christine Revill of Olympia, WA, Rick Varney of Bringhurst, In. and Glenn Varney of Canada, Ky. and a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
