Ricky Dale "Dinky" Dotson, 51, of McVeigh, KY, passed away with
his family by his side at Pikeville Medical Center on Tuesday March 1,
2016.
He was born May 25, 1964, at South Williamson, KY, to Phyllis Sullivan Dotson of Pinsonfork, KY, and the late William Dewey Dotson. He is
also preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Dewey and Hazel Dotson
and his maternal grandparents, Walter and Opal Sullivan.
Ricky was a truck driver for almost all of his life and that is where his
unique nickname came from. Most everyone in the trucking business in
eastern Kentucky can recall Dinky. Through the easy and rough patches in his career, he always
stayed passionate and proud of where he stood as a driver. He was of the Primitive Baptist Faith
and a member of the Big Creek Primitive Baptist Church, being the place he called home. Ricky
served the Lord with unconditional faith and love.
Besides his mother, Ricky is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Dotson of McVeigh, KY.
Two daughters, Savannah Tylin Dotson of Belfry, KY, and Kerigan Raine Dotson of Belfry,
KY. Two brothers, Erik John (Samantha) Kenyon of Phelps, KY, and Joey Bradley Kenyon of
Cross Lanes, WV. A special grandson, Noah William Kenyon and a special nephew, Gaige Andrew Davis, both of Phelps, KY. Ricky is also survived by his mother-in-law, Beatrice Thacker
and three step children, Amanda, Johnathan and Nick West all of Canada, KY. Four special little girls, Breanna, Kyra, Maddison and Lindsey. A special aunt and uncle, John and Jane
Bowersmith; special friends, Timmy Francis and Michael "Shaky" Rogers and a host of loving
family and many friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 PM Saturday March 5, 2016, at the Big Creek Primitive Church with Randal Thornsbury, David Allen Thacker and Others officiating. Burial will
follow at Sullivan Cemetery, Pinsonfork, KY, with Mackey Francis, Gary Runyon, Wesley
Maynard, John Bevins, Bruce Young Jr., Erik Kenyon, Joey Kenyon and Terry Kenyon serving
as pallbearers.
Visitation will be after 6 PM Thursday and Friday night at the church with special services
both nights at 7 PM.
Ricky will truly be missed and always remembered by his remarkable sense of humor and
one of the greatest hearts on earth.
Claude P. Smith, 87, of Huddy, Kentucky passed away Saturday,
March 5, 2016, at his home in Jerry Bottom in the loving care of his family.
He was born June 16, 1928, to the late Layton and Armilda Bevins
Smith of Sidney, Kentucky. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by his first wife, Maggie Riddle Smith, his brother-in-law, Frank
Welch, and many dear aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Claude graduated from Belfry High School in 1946 and the University
of Pikeville in 1948, when the university was only a two- year college.
He went into the U.S. Army January 3, 1951, served proudly in Korea ten
month during the Korean War. Upon his return to Sidney, he married
Maggie Smith, moved to
Michigan and worked at Ford Motor Co. as a clerk and foreman. After several years, he moved
to London, KY and was owner and operator of the Cardinal Motel for 16 yrs. He then returned
to Sidney and worked for Leslie Coal as warehouseman and assistant purchasing agent before
his retirement in 1983 after having a heart attack.
When he went for heart surgery, a great change came to his life. He realized his need for our
Savior, Jesus Christ, was saved, baptized and served the Lord the rest of his life at Sidney
Missionary Baptist Church. He served as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher, Discipleship teacher,
song leader, choir director, on all church committees, loved to sing, play the piano and organ
and if there was church, he was there willing to work. Church was his whole life until he
became too ill to attend.
He served the Pike Association of Southern Baptists as clerk for many years and was selected
as Senior Adult of the Year in 2004. He was a member of the Gideons International serving
as president of the Pike East camp for several years, was a speaker in many local churches and
made Bible distributions to hospitals and local elementary schools.
He was a loving caretaker of Ken Smith Cemetery and his home-place until he became too
ill. Almost every day, he drove over to check on everything at Sidney and eat breakfast at John
L's store.
Claude is survived by his wife, Margarette Morris Smith; his sister, Geraldine S. Welch of
Sidney; stepchildren, Rhonda Malone, husband Mike of Cold Spring, KY; Gregory Morris,
wife, Tricia and three girls, Anna, Maria and Ella who called him Popaw, of Wilder, KY
Also surviving are nieces and nephews, Melody Coyle, husband Rob, and son, Clay;
Claudine Barrow, husband Bill and sons, Brady and Tanner all of Lexington KY; Lanoka Riddle
Sak and Karen Rogensues, husband Rob and daughter Margarette Ann of Michigan.
Visitation will be at Rogers Funeral Home beginning at 4 pm Sunday with services at 7 pm,
and the funeral will be at Sidney Missionary Baptist Church at 11:00 on Monday March 7,
2016, with Shawn Ward officiating. The body will lie in state at the church beginning at 9:00
am. Burial will follow at Smith Cemetery, Sidney, KY. John’s Creek Chapter of Disabled
American Veterans will conduct military graveside services.
Pallbearers will be Rob Coyle, Bill Barrow, Clay Coyle, Tanner Barrow and Brady Barrow,
and Greg Morris. Honorary Pallbearers will be Alvery Smith, Estill Bevins, Fonso Bogar, John
L. Williamson and all the men of Sidney Missionary Baptist Church.

Iris Stallard Gooslin, age 78, of Williamson, passed away March
5, 2016, at Pikeville Medical Center.
A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 1:00 PM
Friday, March 11, 2016, at First Baptist Church in Williamson,
where she has been an active member since the age of 14.
Iris was born on February 17, 1938, to the late Walter & Minerva Hatfield Stallard.
She was in the 1958 graduating class of Williamson High
School. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Truman
Leo Gooslin.
A loving and devoted wife and mother to her two daughters, who carried the key to her
heart, Lisa Gooslin McFadden (Vern) of Greensboro, NC and Peggy Gooslin Wolford (Jimmy)
of Forest Hills, KY; two grandchildren, Jessica McFadden Gibson of Charlotte, NC and Jessie
Wolford who is serving in the US Navy in Washington State.
Three siblings preceded her in death: Walter Stallard, Douglas Stallard, & Howard Stallard.
Remaining siblings are Glen Stallard of Xenia OH, Herbert Stallard (Della) of New Carlisle
OH, Bernard Stallard and Orrin Baisden of St. George UT, Ronnie Stallard of New Carlisle
OH, Clemmie Pohl of Las Vegas NV, Ollie Scott of Spring Hill TN, Mable Dague (Tom) of
New Carlisle OH, and Ruth Bevins (Carl) of Waterford, MI. She is also survived by two
sisters-in-law, Francis Stallard and Mae O'Brien Stallard. Others left to cherish her
memories are nieces, nephews, relatives, & friends.
Iris never met a stranger. She has recently been described as the epitome of a Christian and a
"pocket person", someone you wanted to carry around in your pocket to make you feel special!
She was actively involved in her community. She lived her life not for herself, but to give
herself away to others. If you are reading this, the Lil' Teapot loved you!
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, March 10, 2016, from 6:00 - 9:00 PM

Brenda Kay Pacific, 63, of Forest Hills, KY, passed away Monday
March 7, 2016, at Pikeville Medical Center.
Brenda was born November 10, 1952, at Williamson, WV, to Jewell
Blackburn Kohari of Forest Hills, KY, and the late Mike Kohari.
Brenda was a 1970 graduate of Belfry High School, a graduate of Huntington Beauty School
and a member of the Forest Hills Baptist Church
where she served as the organist. She had the greatest personality that anyone could have.
She was as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. She will be sadly missed
by her family and friends.
Besides her mother, Brenda is survived by her husband, David Pacific
of Forest Hills, KY. One brother, Michael (Susan) Kohari Jr., of Hendersonville, TN. Nieces,
Kristen (Daniel) Jenkins of Mexico, MO, Karla Elliot of Mount Washington, KY, and Michelle
Stewart of Clarksville, TN. Nephew, Bradley Kohari of Hendersonville, TN. Also surviving are
great nieces, Sara Jenkins, Abigail Jenkins and Olivia Kohari and great nephew, Logan Kohari
and a host of loving family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Friday, March 11, 2016, at the Forest Hills Baptist
Church with Larry Keene officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain View Memory Gardens,
Maher WV, with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be after 6 PM Thursday night at the church.
Lois B. Norman, 86, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother,
passed away on December 27, 2013 at Sunrise Assisted Living in
Reston, Virginia where she had been residing since June 2009 to be
close to her son and his family.
Lois was a retired elementary school teacher with 34 total years of
service. Her first 17 years of teaching were in Pike County at
Blackberry Grade School in eastern Kentucky, and her second 17
years of teaching were in Boone County in northern Kentucky, first
at Burlington Elementary and then at Florence Elementary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, C.R. Norman (former superintendent of Boone
County Schools from 1977 to 1982); her parents, J.I. and Juanita Blackburn; and her two sisters
Agnes Hill and Patricia Syck. She is survived by her son Jim (Cindy) and her two
grandchildren, Jeremiah and Olivia.
Two memorial services to celebrate Lois' life are planned. The first service will be held at
the Stith Funeral Home, 7500 U.S. 42, Florence, KY, 41042 on Thursday January 30, 2014,
with visitation starting at 7:00 p.m., and an informal ceremony planned from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00
p.m.
The second service will be held in eastern Kentucky at R.E. Rogers Funeral Home, 25062
Highway U.S. 119; Belfry, KY 41514 on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 1000 a.m., followed by
the burial of her cremated remains at the Anderson Hatfield Memorial Cemetery in McCarr,
Kentucky.
Bobbie Jean Rowe 83, of Troy, MO formerly of Belfry, KY passed away January 1, 2014 at
the Troy Manor in Troy, MO.
She was born June 6, 1930 at McAndrews, KY, to the late Wayne and Annie Marcum
Edmiston. She is also preceded in death by her husband; Lonnie Rowe, one son; Ronnie
Edmiston, eight brothers and two sisters.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Belfry Freewill Baptist Church.
She is survived by one son, Jim Rowe of Troy, MO; two daughters, Ida (Steve) Nogosky of
Destin, FL, and Polly (Jerry) Hager of Belfry, KY; one brother, Alex Edmiston of Hatfield, KY;
six grandchildren, Jamie (Angie) Hager, Adam Hager, Boo (Brittany) Hager, Nicole (Justin)
Foreman, Jimmy (Leah) Rowe and A. J. (Beth King) Rowe, seven great grandchildren and a
host of loving family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 9, 2013 at 1 PM in the R. E. Rogers Funeral
Home Chapel with Buddy Kendrick officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain View
Memory Gardens, Huddy, Ky. with her grandchildren serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 8, 2014 from 6 - 9 PM in the Funeral Home
Chapel with special services at 7 PM with Roger Williamson and the Canada Freewill Baptist
Church.
