Myrtle Elizabeth Beard, 84 of Turkey Creek, KY, passed away Sunday March 16, 2014 at
the South Williamson Appalachian Regional Hospital.
She was born June 20, 1929 at Stone, KY, to the late James and Minnie Varney Bostic.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband; Billy James Beard, five sisters;
Lola Varney, Bertha Varney, Hattie Sullivan, Edith May and Bubby Ross; three brothers, James
Bostic, Luther Bostic and Rufus Bostic.
She was retired from the South Williamson Appalachian Regional Hospital and was a
member of the Women of the Moose.
She is survived by three sons; Danny (Carol) Beard of Turkey Creek, Ky, James (Pepper)
Beard of Dateland, AZ, and Gary (Sarah) Beard of Canada, KY., one brother; Thurman Bostic
of Radcliff, KY, nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and a host of loving family and
friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM Saturday March 22, 2014 at R. E. Rogers
Funeral Home with Jimmy Stanley and Mikey Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain
View Memory Gardens, Huddy, KY, with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be after 6 PM Thursday night and Friday night at the funeral home with
special services at 7 PM Thursday night.
Rhonda O. Collins, 46 of Lexington, Ky. formerly of Pinsonfork, Ky. passed away
December 7, 2013 at her residence in Lexington, Ky. surrounded by her loving family.
She was born June 6, 1967 at South Williamson, Ky. the daughter of Sharon Kay Owens of
Lexington, Ky. and the late Troy Owens.
She was an accountant for Senniger Plumbing, Lexington, Ky.
Other than her Mother, she is survived by her husband, John W. Collins of Lexington, KY;
two sons, Michael R. May of Lexington, KY and Troy Matthew May of Florida; brother,
Johnny Owens of Lexington, KY.; sister, Jennifer Bulgar of Lexington, KY and a host of other
family and friends.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, March 20, 2014 at 2 PM in the R. E. Rogers
Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy, Ky.
Geneva Worley passed from her earthly home at the age of
96, on Monday, March 17, 2014 at the Appalachian Regional
Hospital. She was born at Stone, KY to Mary Collinsworth Reed
on September 17, 1917. Geneva was adored by all who knew
her and will be remembered for great love for her family, her
extended work family and a host of friends she loved dearly.
She was actively involved with Democratic politics and was a
member of the Pike County Women's Democrat Club. She was
an election officer into her late 90's as well as having done that
from a young age. She worked in Driver's License in Pikeville
until she was 91. By working until that age she held the honor of being the oldest person to
retire from the state of Kentucky.
Geneva never met a stranger and always had a smile on her face. Each person she met
instantly became a friend. She was a kind and generous person who went out of her way to help
others.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ancil, one sister, Edith Reed Williamson,
brothers, Roscoe, Floyd, George Jr., John B. and Claude Reed and grandson, Jason Worley.
She is survived by two daughters, Noka (Paul) Reed of Marion, IN, Wanda Worley Hill of
Newport, KY., three sons, John (Tina) Worley of Belfry, KY, Franklin (Lynn) Worley of
Canada, KY and Ed (Jamie) Worley of Richmond, KY. She has 13 surviving grandchildren,
Vickie Lada, Janet Lashbrook, Ricky Reed, Leah Hill, Jared Hill, Sara Worley, Taylor Worley,
Preston Worley, Lauren Worley, Tawnya Childress, John T. Worley, Josh Worley and Morgan
Worley. She is also survived by 15 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 19th from 6-9 PM at the Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 20, 2014 at 11 AM in the R. E. Rogers
Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mark Helton officiating. Burial will follow in the Smith
Cemetery, Sidney, Ky. with John T. Worley, Jared Hill, Preston Worley, Josh Worley, Taylor
Worley, Jason Blair, Joe Childers and Kelly May serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers
include special friends, Senator Ray Jones, Pike County Sheriff Charles (Fuzzy) Keesee, friends
and co-workers that shared her love of politics and government. Memorial gifts in her name
should be directed to Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Center, Lexington, KY.
Ruth Jane Brown
R. Jane Brown (81) a devoted mother and grandmother, passed away
on March 16, 2014 in Louisville, Kentucky.
Jane was born in Ashland, Kentucky where she graduated from
Ashland High School. She was a graduate of the University of
Kentucky from which she received a degree in speech pathology. She
resided in Lexington, Kentucky for many years, where she was a
homemaker and then had successful careers as a speech pathologist and
a real estate broker. Jane was a member of the Central Christian Church
congregation while she resided in Lexington.
She is survived by her children, C. Matthew (Susan) Brown of
Louisville, Kentucky, and Melinda J. Brown of Newton, Massachusetts. She is also survived
by her six beloved grandchildren, David, Michael and Tyler Brown and Collin, Adam and
Caroline LaFleche as well as her son-in-law Treff LaFleche. Her beloved dog Molly, who was
her constant companion, also survives her. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her
sisters, Mary Jo Cook and Betty Jean Murad.
Jane will be remembered for her ability to make others laugh, for her love of beauty, for her
intellectual curiosity, for her desire to share her insights and wisdom, and for her love of her
children and her cherished grandchildren and her dogs Zachary and Molly.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m on Friday, March 21 at the home of Matt and Susan
Brown, 36 River Hill Road, Louisville, Kentucky.
Burial will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 22 in the May family Cemetery, Stone, Kentucky
with Pastor Mark Helton officiating. Mourners who wish to attend the gravesite service should
join the family at the R. E. Rogers Funeral Home, 25062 U. S. 119, Belfry, KY at 1:30 p.m.
Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the charity of donor's
choice.
Jonathon Gary Pauley, 36, of San Diego, CA passed away
Tuesday March 4th, 2014.
He was born in Dearborn, MI on August 2nd, 1977 to Gary and
Cecil Pauley.
Jonathan graduated from Clarenceville High School. He went on
to become a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, while
serving seven years and two tours in Iraq. He then earned a
bachelor’s degree from Southern WVCTC. He was currently a
student at the The Art Institute of San Diego California. Jonathon
had a talent for the arts with a natural gift in drawing and a passion
to write poetry. With his larger than life personality, he made a
lasting impression on anyone who ever came across his path.
Jonathon had become in touch with his faith and was saved and baptized at his Forest Hills
Baptist Church at Forest Hills, Ky.
A memorial service for Jonathon will be held Sunday, March 23, 2014 at 11 AM at the
Forest Hills Baptist Church.
Mabel Lee Hatfield Staggs, 85 of Ransom, Ky. went home to be with
her Lord, Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at her residence after a long illness.
She was born May 8, 1928 at Ransom, Ky. the daughter of the late
Thurman Floyd and Bessie Smith Hatfield. She was also preceded in
death by two daughter-in-laws, Linda Dale Staggs and Kathy Jean Staggs;
two sisters, Hazel Taylor and Columbia Alice Hatfield; three brothers,
Cecil, Earl and James Marshall Hatfield; two grandsons and two great
grandchildren.
Mabel was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was a
homemaker all of her life and a member of the Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors include her loving husband, William Everett "Bill" Staggs of Ransom, KY;
children, James Thurman Staggs of Louisa, KY, Patricia Ann (Johnie Landon) Raines of
Greensboro, NC, Edward Francis (Linda Kay) Staggs of Ransom, KY, Michael Brian (Diane)
Staggs of Hardy, KY, Wayne Douglas Staggs of Ransom, KY, Pamela Sue (George Easley)
Dotson of Ransom, KY, Carolyn Renee (Jeffrey Ross) Stanley of Ransom, KY, William Everett
(Kimberly Michelle) Staggs Jr. of Ransom, KY and Gregory Dale (Selena Kay) Staggs of
Ransom, KY; sister, Barbara "Dolly" Runyon of Thomasville, NC, thirty five grandchildren,

Margie Leann Cisco Simpkins, 85 of Williamson, WV passed away
Saturday March 29, 2014 at Williamson Memorial Hospital. She was born
March 1, 1929 at Beech Creek, WV the daughter of the late Leonard and Ida
Jean Cisco. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill"
Simpkins Jr. who passed away September 13, 2011; her only daughter
Brenda Wolford; brothers, Clyde, Curby, Carlton, Clellis and Clinton Cisco
and sisters, Victoria Cisco and Ada Kinder.
Margie was a homemaker and a member of the Little Rosie Old Regular
Baptist Church.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Lori Carter of Glasgow, KY and
Gary Steven Wolford of Dry Ridge, KY; sisters, Inas Evans of Williamson, WV and Orphia
Curry of Williamson, WV; brothers, Charles Cisco of Williamson, WV and Cedric Cisco of
Sax, VA; nine great grandchildren; her caregivers, Beth Scott, Lillian Brumfield, Sherry
Griffith and Davina Baisden and host of loving family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 P.M. Wednesday April 2, 2014 at R. E. Rogers
Funeral Home with Wayne Herald, Tom Dials, Hobart Hamilton and Albert Cable officiating.
Burial will follow at Mountain View Memory Gardens, Maher, WV with Timmy Robinson,
David Staton, Harvey White, Steve White, Alonzo White and George Evans serving as
pallbearers.
