Lonnie J. Varney 79, of Turkey Creek, KY, gave up his walk
on the earth to be with the Lord, Sunday April 1, 2012 in the Skilled
Nursing Unit of the South Williamson Appalachian Regional Hospital.
He was born July 18, 1932 at Turkey Creek, KY to the late
Ken and Lillie Williamson Varney. He is also preceded in death by
his brothers; Buster (Ernestine) Varney, Avery (Mildred) Varney
and Floyd (Willie Marie) Varney; Sisters; Victoria Varney and Hazel (Roy) Varney Phillips and brother-in-law; England Gillman.
Lonnie was an expert wood craftsman and loved to play and
was known for his bluegrass music and his stringed musical instruments. He was also a member
of the Williamson Area Church of Christ and Retired from the West Virginia Army National
Guard after serving 23 years.
He is survived by his wife; Doris Runyon Varney, daughter; Geneva (Roger) Runyon of
Turkey Creek, KY, sons; Lonnie J. (Rhonda S.) Varney Jr. of Turkey Creek, KY., and Wendell
(Felicia) Varney of Pinsonfork, KY., one sister; Mary Helen Gillman of Columbus, Ohio six
grandchildren, one step grandchild and one great grandchild, special niece; Wilma Scalf of Turkey Creek, KY., and a host of loving family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 PM Thursday April 5, 2012 at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home with Joe Cochran officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain View Memory Gardens with Danny Gillman, Gene Gillman, Bill Bevins, Joe Avery Billiter, Dwight Varney, David Varney, Austin Dotson, Shane Runyon, Kasey Varney and Billy Varney serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be after 6 PM Wednesday night at the funeral home.
Fred Runyon, 90, of Pinsonfork, KY, passed away Sunday, April
8, 2012, at the Pikeville Medical Center.
He was born December 6, 1921, at Pinsonfork, KY. He was the
son of the late Don and Agnes Dials Runyon. He was also preceded in
death by children; Donald Rufus Runyon and Christine Sullivan; brothers, Ace, Jack, John, Woodrow and Charles "Cub" Runyon and sisters,
Bess Runyon Bostic, Goldie Runyon Keene and Opal Runyon Thompson.
He was a retired coal miner from Eastern Coal Corp. with 33
years of service, a member of the UMWA, local union 5737, a veteran
of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy and a member of the
Pinsonfork Church of God.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Irene Ison Runyon of Pinsonfork, Ky.; son, Fred
(Butch) Runyon Jr. and his wife, Iva Jean of Forest Hills, Ky.; daughters, Judy Ann Holbrook
and her husband, Tim of Pinsonfork, Ky. and Ollie Daniels of Pikeville, Ky.; eight grandchildren, Justin Holbrook, Paige Holbrook, Taylor Runyon, Timmy Holbrook, Jr., Brian Holbrook,
Venisa Dotson, Donna Hernandez and Verlin Lee Sullivan; six great grandchildren and a host
of other loving family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Thursday, April 12, 2012 at the Pinsonfork Church
of God with David Kilburn and Jerry Horn officiating. Burial will follow in the Don Runyon
Family Cemetery, Pinsonfork Ky. with Charles Runyon, Roger Lee Runyon, Fred "Manno"
Runyon, Roger F. Runyon, Brian Holbrook, Bob McCoy and Jackie Ray Runyon serving as
pallbearers.
Visitation will be held after 6 PM Tuesday and Wednesday at R. E. Rogers Funeral
Home Chapel. Special services will be held at 7 PM Tuesday with David Kilburn and John
McCoy officiating and Wednesday at 7 PM with Gene Ison officiating.
Tad Branham, 48, of Slaters Branch, KY, died Sunday, April 15,
2012.
He was born July 10, 1963 at Fort Bragg, NC, the son of Wilma
Fern Branham of Pinsonfork, Ky. and the late John B. Lee.
Besides his mother he is survived by a son, T. J. Lee of Ohio; two
daughters, Samantha Lee of Ohio and Leesa Faith Branham of
Pinsonfork, Ky.; a brother, Alan (Darlene) Branham of McVeigh, Ky.
and a sister, Teresa (Gary) Cochran of Columbus, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 20, 2012 at 1 PM in the R. E. Rogers Funeral
Home Chapel with Joe Crum officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Memory
Gardens, Maher, WV.
Visitation will be held after 6 PM Wednesday and Thursday at the Funeral Home with
special services Thursday at 7 PM with Dwayne Chapman officiating.
William Dewey Dotson, 69, of Pinsonfork, KY, went to be with
Jesus Monday April 16, 2012 at his residence.
He was born December 13, 1942 in Pike County, KY, to the late
Dewey and Bessie Hazel Wolford Dotson. He is also preceded in death
by four brothers, one sister and his mother and father-in-law, Walter
and Opal Sullivan.
He was retired as a pharmacy technician from the South Williamson Appalachian Regional Hospital, a member of the New Hope
Primitive Baptist Church for 48 years, and a Deacon for 22 years.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years; Phyllis Sullivan Dotson,
sons; Ricky Dale Dotson of Belfry, KY, and Eric (Samantha) Kenyon of Turkey Creek, KY,
brothers; Boyd (Betty) Dotson of Pinsonfork, Ky., and Darrell (Greta) Dotson of Linden, Md.,
sister; Freda (Raymond) Stanley of Sidney, Ky., grandchildren; Tylin Dotson, Kerrigan Dotson,
Joey Kenyon, Noah William Kenyon and Gage Davis, special sister-in-law; Connie Sullivan;
special sister and brother-in-law, Jane and John Bowersmith and a host of other sister-in-laws,
brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM Saturday April 21, 2012 at the Little Hope
Primitive Baptist Church with Kenny Chapman, Larry Slone, Raymond Stanley officiating with
other Primitive Baptist ministers welcome. Burial will follow at Sullivan Cemetery, Ball Fork,
KY, with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Ersie V. Hensley Puckett, 79 of Belfry, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, April 19, 2012
in the Williamson Memorial Hospital.
Born March 16, 1933 at Pilgrim, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Vernice and Anthry
(Bryant) Hensley. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Roscoe
Puckett; one son, Jeff Puckett; one daughter, Mickey Rae Puckett and one brother, Earl "Buddy" Hensley.
She was a Special Education Teacher Aide for the Pike County Board of Education and
was a member of the Nolan Freewill Baptist Church.
Ersie is survived by two sons, Leck (Juanita) Puckett of Lovely, Kentucky and Rocky
(Bridgett) Puckett of Borderland, West Virginia; five daughters, Susan (Larry) Savage of Jackson, Georgia, Jane (Mark) Martin Adams of Taylor, Michigan, Melissa (Toby) Hatfield of
Chattaroy, West Virginia, Jackie (Jimmy) Hanny of Belfry, Kentucky and Penny (Jim) Williams of Dearborn, Michigan; Eleven Grandchildren; Eleven Great Grandchildren and a host of
loving friends.

Brittani Ann Allen, 22, of Kimper, KY, passed away Saturday
April 21, 2012, at Pikeville Medical Center.
She was born January 24, 1990 at Lincoln Park, MI. to Norma
Jean Blankenship of Kimper, Ky. and the late Brian Keith Allen.
She is also preceded in death by her great grandparents; Dolly and
Jack Allen, Cousin; Donna Allen and brother-in-law; Ronnie T.
Hardin.
She was a member of the Meta Baptist Church.
Besides her mother she is survived by one son, Kaiden Brian
Goble; grandparents, Mickey and Thomas "Hotshot" Blackburn of
Williamson, W.V. and Oscar and Mary Ann Blankenship of Livingston, TN; brothers, Danny
Gowen Jr. of Clearwater, MI. and Eric Lee (Kelly) Gowen of Claire, MI; sister, Jessica Hardin
of Kimper, Ky.; niece, Anna Marie Gowen; great grandmother, Goldie Blackburn of Williamson, W.V.; special uncle, Clarency Blackburn of Virginia Beach, Va.; special aunt, Hazel Allen

Kathleen Nelson Berry, 92, of South Williamson, KY, passed
away Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at the Williamson Memorial Hospital.
She was born November 25, 1919 in Pike County, Ky. the
daughter of the late Tom and Lucy Brewer Nelson. She was also
preceded in death by sons, Joby Berry and Nelson Berry; sisters,
Betty Collins, Patty Nelson, Emogene Nelson Collins, Freda Nelson
Charles, Alline Nelson Oliver and Evelyn Nelson Hodge.
She was a former sales associate and the oldest living member
of the Forest Hills Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Colin (Darlena) Berry of Williamson, WV and Neil (Dottie) Rollins of Tennessee; brother, Tommy (Dalphne) Nelson of Lorain, Ohio; sister, Janet (Milford) Farley of Lorain, Ohio; grandchildren, Joe (Rhonda) Berry,
Greg (Dee Dee) Berry, Mindy Berry, Kathy Thacker, Christy (Reid) Coffman, Deena (Ellis)
Neace and Dwayne (Jennifer) Rollins; a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and her

Lester Allen Robinette, 45, of Sidney, KY, passed away Friday April 27, 2012 at his residence. He was born January 7, 1967 at
Sidney, Ky., son of Augustine Francisco Robinette of Sidney, Ky.
and the late Elmer Robinette.
He was also preceded in death by his grandparents; David
and Nancy Keesee Francisco and Tobie and Stella Thompson
Robinette and his nephew; Shawn Thacker.
He was an EMT with Quest Care for 10 years and the Johnson County Fire and Rescue Department for 20 years and of the
Freewill Baptist faith.
Besides his Mother he is survived by his wife, Penny Cecil Robinette; son, David Robinette of West Van Lear, Ky.; daughter, Natoshia (Austin) Robinette Hall of Tomahawk, Ky.;
sister, Phyllis (Danny) Thacker of Sidney, Ky.; special nephews, Scott Thacker of Nicholasville, Ky., Bobby Thacker of Hardy, Ky. and Jacob Thacker of Sidney, Ky.; grandson, Daniel
Hall and special friend and caregiver, Cathy Preece of Sidney, Ky.
