Cornelius "Corney" Hankins, 78 of Charlotte, NC formerly of
the Pond Creek Area passed away Friday, December 14, 2012 in the
Levine & Dickson Hospice House, Huntersville, NC.
He was born September 8, 1934 at Stone, Ky. the son of the late
Estelle and Nesbith Goff Hankins. He was also preceded in death by a
sister, Sharline Grubbs and nephews, Kenny Runyon and Cliff Anderson.
He was a retired salesman for the Bell & Howell Corp., a veteran of the US Army and very active in the Special Olympics. Corney
loved his family and often told everyone he met, Darlene and Sandy were his pride and joy. He
was very excited to go to all of their events in Special Olympics. He was so proud of them. We
were so blessed to have him as our husband and father.
Survivors include his wife, Joanana "Jodi" Stuart Hankins; daughters, Darlene and Sandra Hankins of the Home; sister, Ernestine Runyon of Barberton, Ohio; nieces, Marge (Dick)
Anderson of Alliance, Ohio and Suzanne (Jeff) Snyder of Greenville, MI and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 17, 2012 at 12 Noon in the R. E. Rogers
Funeral Home Chapel with Danny Scott officaitng. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy, Ky.
Visitation will be held after 6 PM Sunday, December 16, 2012 in funeral home chapel.
Freddie Ray Lockard, 63, of McCarr, KY, left this world on Friday, December 14, 2012.
He was born November 18, 1949 at Matewan, WV the son of the late Chester Arthur and
Rosa Belle Roberts Lockard. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, one sister and one daughter.
He was former coal miner and a Kentucky Colonel.
He leaves behind his wife, Rhonda Mae Payne Lockard of McCarr, Ky.; three sons, one
daughter, seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, sister-inlaws, brother in-law, daughter-in-laws, son-in-law and many friends. He will be greatly missed
and loved by all who knew him.
Per his request he will be cremated.
Betty Sue Trout, 64 of Ransom, KY, passed away Wednesday
morning, December 19, 2012 in the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio.
She was born March 12, 1948 in Pike County, Ky. the daughter of
the late Ermal and Hazel Hager. She was also preceded in death by a
brother, Bobby Hager and a sister, Annie Smith.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Henry C. Trout of Ransom, KY;
daughter, Susan Kay Ratliff of Charleston, WV; sons, James Ermal
"Jamie" (Susan) Trout of Louisa, Ky. and Henry C. (Connie) Trout Jr. of
Delbarton, WV; sister, Mary New of Ransom, Ky.; grandchildren, Mark Ratliff, Amanda Stevenson, Austin Trout, Josh Trout, Jazz Trout, Ryan Hager, Kyle Hinkle and Clay Warf; great
grandchildren, Bradley Woodrum, Brandon Woodrum, Ryan Woodrum, Emma Stevenson, Jace
Stevenson and Eli Stevenson; special friend, Roma Eanes of Ransom, Ky. and a host of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 12 Noon in the R. E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Family Cemetery, Ransom, Ky. with Jamie, Josh and Austin Trout, Mark Ratliff, Kyle Hinkle and Claf Warf
serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer is Henry C. Trout Jr.

Joseph Jackson "Jack" Robinette 84, of Rockhouse, KY passed away Friday December
21, 2012 at his residence.
He was born June 13, 1928 in Pike County, KY the son of the late Joseph "Joe" and
Thelma Williamson Robinette. He is also preceded in death by his first wife; Betty Robinette,
brothers; Sammy, Luther, Brian and Jody Robinette, sisters; Okey Irene and Grace and stepson, Condar Robinette.
He was a retired coal miner, a member of the U.M.W.A. and a member of the Pilgrim
Home Old Regular Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife; Lucy Ella Young Robinette, two sons; Joseph "Bud" (Sheila)
Robinette of Chapmanville, WV and Gregory Jack (Sherry) Robinette of Holden, WV; step
children, Bertha Jean (Danny) Reed of Turkey Creek, Ky., Linda (Roger) May of Rockhouse,
Ky. and Ronald (Priscilla) Robinette of Rockhouse, KY; step daughter-in-law; Belinda Robinette of Rockhouse, KY; brothers, Sonny Robinette of DeLand, Fl., George Robinette of Fl.,
Carl Robinette of NC; sisters, Sandra, Lucille and Elizabeth Ann of FL; three grandchildren, six
step grandchildren, one great grandchild, eleven step great grandchildren and a host of loving family and friends.

Home Old Regular Baptist Church with Richard Staton, Danny Runyon, Albert Cable and Danny Reed officiating. Burial will follow at Robinette Cemetery, Varney, KY with Ronald Robinette, Danny Reed, Roger May, Clifton Robinette, Michael Johnson, Ronald Robinette Jr., Terry Reed Jr. and D. J. Robinette serving as pallbearers.

Barbara Cornette Maynard, 90, a resident of May Road, Thomasville, NC, formerly of
Pike County, KY, passed away Friday, December 21, 2012 at Lexington Health Care Center in
Thomasville, NC after a brief illness.
She was born May 23, 1922 in Pike County, Ky. the son of the late Floyd Cornette and
Edna Williamson Cornette.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Lexington Church of Christ in NC. She was
married to Elbert Maynard Jr. who preceded her in death in 1985.
Surviving are two sons, Nelson Maynard and wife Betty of Thomasville, NC and Larry
Maynard and wife Lena of WA; one grandson, Ricky Maynard and wife Sheri of Thomasville,
NC; one great grandson, Dustin Maynard and wife Ashley of Thomasville, NC; sisters, Lucille
Walters and husband A.B. and Sylvia Manha all of Belfry, Ky.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 23, 2012 at R. E. Rogers Funeral
Home in Belfry, Ky. from 1 PM until 2 PM with a graveside service immediately following in
Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy, Ky. with Donnie Estepp officiating.
Bertha Lee "Ruby" Marcum Virse, 86, of Belfry, Kentucky,
died unexpectedly Saturday, December 22, 2012 at her residence.
She was born October 18, 1926, a daughter of the late Bazil Marcum
and Gertie Marcum Alley. Besides her parents, she was preceded in
death by her husband, Rev. James Rollan Virse; a beloved granddaughter, Jennifer Kaye Smith; three sisters, Virginia, Birdie, and
Norma; and one brother, Carl.
Ruby graduated from Belfry High School, class of 1944 and
was a long time employee of Sears Roebuck of Williamson, West
Virginia, but she was most proud of her accomplishments as choir
director for Belfry United Methodist, Hardy United Methodist and Stone United Methodist
Churches. Ruby also was a 52-year member and Past Worthy Matron of Stone Chapter #533
O.E.S. Ruby was a member of the Belfry United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her daughter Sharon (Ireland) Smith of Belfry, Kentucky; Son, James
R. (Sandra) Virse of Georgetown, Kentucky; Granddaughters, Robyn (Paul Murphy) Smith of
Mt. Sterling, Kentucky and Wendy (Bill) Holbrook of Georgetown, Kentucky; Grandson, Matthew (Kari) Virse of Georgetown, Kentucky; four great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, including three special nieces, Brenda Riggs, Okey Martin and Peggy Simpkins.; and a host of loving friends.
A celebration of Ruby's life will be held Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at the R.E.
Rogers Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 6 PM. Special Services at 7 PM with Mike
Stanley and Bob Werntz officiating.
Gravesides Services will be conducted 11 AM Thursday, December 27, 2012 at Mt. View

Barry Woodrow Chapman, 48 of Lexington, KY, formerly of
Canada, KY, passed away Saturday, December 22, 2012, in Tennessee.
Barry was born August 3, 1964 in Cincinnati, Ohio the son of
Douglas Chapman of Canada, KY and Sadie Reed Chapman of Lexington, Ky.
He was self-employed as a carpenter, a graduate of Belfry High
School Class of 1984 and a member of the Sharondale Church of Christ.
Besides his parents he is survived by a daughter, Ashley
Chapman Bias of Gallipolis, Ohio; sister, Carol Bobb of Hendersonville, TN; brothers, Shannon (Jackie) Chapman of Sidney, Ky., Craig Chapman of Columbus,
Ohio and Kelly (Donna) Chapman of Whitehouse, TN and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 27, 2012 at 1 PM in the R. E. Rogers
Funeral Home Chapel with Michael Elswick and others officiating. Burial will follow in the
Varney Branch Cemetery, Kimper, Ky. with Greg Williamson, Lester Stanley, Andrew Chapman, Timmy Thornbury, nephews and friends serving as pallbearers.

Thelma Louise Mounts, 49, of Sidney, KY, passed away
Tuesday, December 25, 2012 in the Pikeville Medical Center.
She was born October 7, 1963 in Edgarton, WV the daughter
of the late Artemas and Joanne Mounts. She was also preceded in
death by a brother, Larry Mounts.
Thelma was a homemaker.
Survivors include her Fiance, Donald Lee Messer Sr. of Sidney, Ky.;
son, Donald Lee Messer of Sidney, Ky.; her special friend, Tiffany
Sesco of Sidney, Ky.; brother, Kenneth (Viginia) Mounts of
Edgarton, WV; sisters, Ann (Harold) Sincell of Louisa, Ky., Dorothy (Carroll) Hamilton of Elk
Creek, Ky., Margaret Mounts of Columbus, Ohio and Pansy Sincell; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 11 AM in the R. E. Rogers
Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Smith Cemetery, Sidney, Ky. with her son,
Donald Lee Messer and other family and friends serving as pallbearers.
