Myrtle Varney McClanahan, 91 of Statesville, NC formerly of
McAndrews, KY, passed away Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at her home.
She was born January 13, 1921 in Mayfork, Ky. the daughter of
the late Flem Varney and Mary Cathern Williamson Varney Fannin.
Mrs. McClanahan attended Belfry High School, McVeigh, Ky. and
on December 25, 1961, she was married
to the late Everett McClanahan.
She was a homemaker and was a member of Broad Street Church of
Christ and served as a Sunday School teacher at previous churches.
She is survived by a son, Paul McClanahan (Pam), two granddaughters, Brittani McClanahan and Fiance (Santhosh Kongala) and Danielle McClanahan all of Statesville, NC. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Phyllis Varney of Kentucky and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 PM Friday, December 28, 2012 at McAndrews
Church of Christ in McAndrews, Ky. with David Parsley officiating. Burial will follow in
Mountain View Memorial Gardens, Huddy, KY.
Visitation will be held from 11 AM until 1 PM Friday at the church before the Funeral service.

Randal Lee Harmon, 55, of Forest Hills, KY, passed away Thursday, December 27, 2012
at the home of his sister in Charlotte, NC.
He was born May 7, 1957 in Panama the son of the late Willie James and Wilda Williamson Harmon. He was a retired auditor from the Kentucky Revenue Cabinet. He was a volunteer fireman and had worked with the Turkey Creek, Belfry and Upper Pond Fire Departments.
He is survived by three sisters, Sandy (Stan) Gwizdak of Charlotte, NC, Mary Harmon of
Pikeville, Ky. and Wilda (Ken) Nance of Milford, Ohio; three niees, Sarah Teke, Ayla Gwizdak
and Anya Gwizdak; a host of aunts, uncles and other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 30, 2012 at 2 PM in the R. E. Rogers
Funeral Home Chapel with Bob Werntz officiating. Burial will follow in the Williamson Family
Cemetery, Forest Hills, Ky. with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held from 6 till 9 PM Saturday at the Funeral Home Chapel. Upper
Pond Creek Volunteer Fire Department will conduct a fireman's funeral.
Charles David Runyon, 62 of Rockhouse Fork, Sidney, Ky. passed away Saturday,
August 24, 2013 at Pikeville Medical Center.
He was born October 27, 1950 in Pike County, Ky. the son of the late Don and Irene Maynard Runyon.
He was a retired machinist.
Survivors include his loving brother and sister-in-law, James (Paulette) Runyon of
Rockhouse, KY; two nieces, Janet Gillman of Rockhouse, KY and Lisa Wills of Lenore, NC; a
nephew, Joseph Don Runyon of Rockhouse, KY and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at 11 AM in the R. E. Rogers
Funeral Home Chapel with Gary Hackney and Darren May officiating. Burial will follow in the
Maynard Cemetery, Rockhouse, KY with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held after 6 PM Sunday and Monday at the Funeral Home with special
services both nights at 7 PM.
Paul Edward "Big Chew" Runyon, 91, of McCarr, KY, passed
away Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington, WV.
He was born June 28, 1922 at Williamson, WV to the late
Robert Lee and Dixie McCoy Runyon. He is also preceded in death
by his first wife; Blanch Marie Runyon, his second wife; Lola
Runyon, brothers; James Smith and Robert Runyon, sisters; Minnie
Francis Lawson, Betsy Runyon, sons; David Paul Runyon, and
Edward J. Runyon and daughter; Joan Runyon.
He was a retired coal miner with Eastern Coal and a veteran of the U. S. Army.
He is survived by his wife; Virginia Salyers Runyon, two daughters; Cindy (Andy)
Runyon of McCarr, KY and Virginia (Lonnie) Robertson of McCarr, KY sons; Johnny
(Lorraine) Runyon of Gig Harbor, WA, Tony (Elaine) Runyon of Veddar, Canada, and Gary
Tyler Runyon of Belfry, KY. Grandchildren; William Runyon, Kaine Runyon, James Ferrell II,
Brooklyn Ferrell, Tiffany (Sam) Robertson and five other grandchildren and nine great
grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Friday August 30, 2013 at R. E. Rogers
Funeral Home with Leslie Chapman officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain View Memory
Gardens, Huddy, KY with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Military graveside services
will be conducted by Belfry Chapter #141 D.A.V.
Visitation will be after 6 PM Wednesday and Thursday nights with special services at 7
PM Thursday night with Buddy Kendrick officiating.
Dorothy Sue Nelson, 67, of Turkey Creek, Ky. passed away Thursday, August 29, 2013
at the Appalachian Regional Hospital Emergency Room, South Williamson, Ky.
She was born May 25, 1946 in Williamson, WV the daughter of the late George and
Rebecca Marcum Nelson. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Frank, Dewey, Rush Jay,
Roscoe and Bud Nelson and sisters, Polly (Richard) Fletcher, Alice (Cecil) Farley and Marth (Earnest) Lockard.
Dorothy was a homemaker and a member of the Old Regular Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sister, Mary B. (Lewie) Maynard of Turkey Creek, Ky.; her niece
and nephew, Maria Thresa Lockard Prater and Robert Lee Lockard of Turkey Creek, Ky. with
whom she made her home with and a host of other nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 1, 2013 at 11 AM in the R. E. Rogers
Funeral Home Chapel with Bobby Scott, Hobert Hamilton and Richard Staton officiating.
Burial will follow in the Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy, Ky. with her nephews
serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held after 6 PM Friday and Saturday at the Funeral Home Chapel with
special services Saturday at 7 PM.
Fay M. Price of Williamson, WV passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday,
September 04, 2013. She was born February 12, 1933, in Williamson, WV to the late Fred and
Hazel Thompson Hatfield. She was also preceded in death by two brothers Herbert and Charles
Hatfield and her sister Virginia Mounts. Fay was a loving wife and mother; she also was a true
follower of Christ and a member of Bethel Temple at Nolan, WV.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, John T. Price and her children; Teresa L.
Jones of Elk Creek, WV., Randal E. (Marcia) Price of Williamson, WV., and Kenneth D.
(Crystal) Price of Goody, KY. She is also survived by her brother George Hatfield of Man, WV
and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
As per her request, she will be cremated and no services will be held at this time.
Loretta Gaye Worley, 53 of Pinsonfork, KY passed away Thursday September 5, 2013 at
her residence. She was born April 20, 1960 at South Williamson, KY to the late Ervin and
Hermia Bowen. She was also preceded in death by one sister; Emma Bowen and one brother; Wallace Bowen.
She was a forklift operator for Kellogs.
She is survived by two sons; James Wyley (Paula) Worley of Breaks, VA and Landon
(Samantha) Worley of McVeigh, KY one sister; Ruth Ann (Dickie) Smith of Belfry, KY two
brothers; Roger Bowen of McVeigh, KY and James (Debbie) Bowen of Spantanburg, SC and
three grandchildren; Alissa Worley, James Worley IV and Lorrie Moore, special friends; Kathy Bevins and Tim Prater.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Sunday September, 8, 2013 at R. E. Rogers
Funeral Home with Joe Crum officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain View Memory
Gardens at Huddy, KY with Rodney Bowen, Terry Bowen, James Eric Bowen, Tim Prater, Paul

Randall E. "Randy" Deskins, 65 of Sevierville, TN formerly of Belfry, KY passed away
Tuesday, September 10, 2013.
He was born March 7, 1948 in Belfry, Ky. the son of the late Leif E. and Nola Deskins.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Tommy and Gerstel Deskins.
Randy was a retired businessman and a member of the Grand Lodge of Kentucky F. &
A.M. and Master Mason of Stone Lodge #890. He graduated Pikeville College in 1971.
Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years, Thelma J. Deskins; sons, Randall E.
Deskins II and Matthew (Jessica) Deskins; granddaughter, Evie Ariah Deskins; special
sister-in-law, Karien Church; brothers, Charlie "Grover" Deskins of Newark, Delaware and Ronald
Deskins of Charlottesville, VA; sisters, Nana Sanders of Lexington, KY, Donna Blevins of
Greeneville, TN and Alice Orr of Baltimore, MD; aunt, Sylvia Macoun of Lexington, KY and
Ruth Deskins of Johns Creek, KY; special friends, Bill and Darlene Ball of McAndrews, KY
and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4 - 6 PM Thursday with funeral services to follow at
6 PM in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. Curtis Wells officiating.
Interment will follow at 12 Noon Saturday, September 14, 2013 in the Deskins Family
Cemetery, Johns Creek, Ky. with Buddy Kendrick officiating and Stone Masonic Lodge #890
conducting Masonic graveside services.
Family and friends may gather at the Funeral Home Saturday at 10:30 to go to the cemetery.
