Gary Steven Bevins, 59 of Sidney, KY. passed away, Sunday, December 15, 2013 at the
Pikeville Medical Center.
Gary was born April 18, 1954 in Williamson, WV the son of Tom Dick (Michelle) Bevins of
Sidney, Ky. and the late Mildred Ann Booten Bevins. He was also preceded in death by his
paternal; grandparents, Willie and Sadie Bevins and maternal Clyde Booten and Jane Booten Hawkins.
Gary worked for the Pike County Board of Education as a Carrier and was a truck driver for
McJunkin Corp. He was a 1972 graduate of Belfry High School, where he played football and
he loved to hunt and fish.
Other than his father he is survived by two brothers Roger Bevins of Canada, KY and
Tommy Bevins of Vicksburg, MS., a niece Dora Jane "D.J" Bevins of Canada, KY and a host
of loving family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 20, 2013 at 11 AM in the R. E. Rogers
Funeral Home Chapel with Larry Keene and Estil "Breezy" Bevins officiating. Burial will
follow at the Smith Cemetery, Sidney, KY. with Paul Harris, Charles Scaggs, Dewayne Dotson,
Chris Taylor and others family and friends serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are
Barry Reed, Robert Daughtery, Donnie Scaggs, Roger and Tommy Bevins.
Visitation will be held Wednesday and Thursday from 6 - 9 PM in the Funeral Home
Chapel.
Ernest Merill Lockard, 74 of Turkey Creek, KY, passed away Thursday December 19, 2013
at Cornerstone Hospital in Huntington, WV. He was born October 17, 1939 at Turkey Creek,
KY the son of Francis Reed Lockard of Turkey Creek, KY and the late Condor Lockard. He is
also preceded in death by his first wife, Martha Nelson Lockard; son, Stephen Lockard; two
sisters, Jeannie Rivard and Juanita Lockard and one brother, Condor "Tadpole" Lockard.
He was a retired electrician in the coal mines and a member of the Little Stone Old Regular Baptist Church.
Besides his Mother he is survived by his wife, Carolyn Sue Robertson Lockard of Turkey
Creek, KY; children, Teresa Prater, Robert Lockard and Tonda Canterbury all of Turkey Creek,
KY, Harley Canterbury of South Carolina, Rhonda McClanahan of North Carolina and Josie
Olson of Pennsylvania; brother, Lacy Lockard of Turkey Creek, KY; sisters, Daisy Ray of
Turkey Creek, KY, Rose Coleman of North Carolina, Sue Davis of Mud Lick, KY and Sharon
Estridge of Canada, KY; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 22, 2013 at 1 PM in the R. E. Rogers
Funeral Home Chapel with Larry Thacker, Hobert Hamilton and Richard Staton officiating.
Burial will follow in the Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy, Ky. with Matthew Olson,
Cody Lockard, Victor Coleman, Anthony Joe Nelson, Charley Lockard, Eric Estridge, Duke
Estridge and Jason Ray serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held Saturday, December 21, 2013 from 6 - 9 PM at the funeral home
chapel with special services at 7 PM.
Walter Lee Reedy, 88 of Huddy, KY, passed away Friday, December
27, 2013 at Williamson Memorial Hospital, Williamson, WV.
Walter was born June 25, 1925, the son of the late Henry Lee and Edith
Reedy. Walter was also preceded in death by two brothers, Junior and
Ernest Reedy, three sisters, Helen Reedy, Maude Staton, and Audrey
Maynard, Grandchildren, Bradley Hatfield and Kim Collins, son, Stephen
Harrison and first wife, Tilda Jane Reedy.
Walter was a deacon at the Stone Baptist Church, a Mason at Stone
Lodge #890 F. & A.M; he was also a World War II Veteran. Walter
worked as a commercial refrigerator repair man and as a manager for Bordens Ice Cream & Milk.
He is survived by his wife, Neva J. Reedy, of Huddy, KY., his children, Sandi (John) Boone of Pennslyvania,
John (Carol) Lawrence of North Carolina, Sandra (Steve) Hatfield of Huddy, KY., and Susan
(Harold) Osborne of South Williamson, KY. He is also survived by four Grandchildren Jamey
Collins, Meghan Martin, Sarah Johnson, and Stephen Hatfield, as well as a host of Great
Grandchildren and other loving family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Monday, December 30, 2013 at Rogers Funeral
Home Chapel with Virgil Lockard officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain View Memory
Gardens, Huddy, KY., with Harold Osborne, Steve Hatfield, Stephen Hatfield, Scott Martin,
Ben Johnson and Ed Thacker serving as pallbearers. Belfry Chapter #141 D. A. V. will conduct
Military Graveside services.
Visitation will be held Sunday, December 29, 2013 from 6 - 9 PM at the funeral home
chapel with Masonic Rites at 7 PM.
Bobby Leland Runyon, 90 of Pinsonfork, KY., passed away Saturday,
December 28, 2013 at the Good Shepherd Community Nursing Center in Phelps, KY.
Bobby was born September 2, 1923, the son of the late Leonard and
Hattie Bevins Runyon. He was also preceded in death by his wife Mary
Lou O'Bryan Runyon, as well as his step mother, Maggie Scott Runyon
and his half brother, James Walker Runyon.
He was a retired teacher from the Pike County Board of Education and
a veteran of World War II, where he served as a navigator on a B-17 airplane for Army Air
Corps. Bobby was also a member of the McVeigh Baptist Church and also lifetime member of
the D.A.V. Chapter #141 of Belfry, KY.
He is survived by his sons, Richard L. "Pete" (Ruby) Runyon and Charles Robert (Kim)
Runyon both of Pinsonfork, KY. He is also leaves behind five grandchildren, Richard Brandon
Runyon, Robert Thomas Runyon, Lesley (Nick) Markesbery, Dana (Stephen) Blankenship, and
Mason Tyler Runyon, as well as his half brother, Bill Runyon of Vero Beach, FL.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at R.E Rogers
Funeral Home Chapel, with James Justice officiating. Burial will follow at Smith Cemetery,
Sidney, KY with Jonathan Runyon, Richard Brandon Runyon, Robert Thomas Runyon, Mason
Tyler Runyon, Stephen Blankenship and Nick Markesbery. Belfry Chapter #141 D. A. V. will
conduct Military Graveside services. Visitation will be held Monday and Tuesday night at the
funeral home from 6-9 PM.
Beulah Faye (Savage) Smith, 72, of Forest Hills, KY, went home to be
with the Lord Tuesday April 8, 20114 at the Pikeville Medical Center.
She was born April 13, 1941 at Kermit, WV, to the late George and
Tennie Savage of Kermit, WV.
She was a homemaker and of the Freewill Baptist Faith.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jack Smith; brothers,
David Savage, Bud Savage, Bobby Savage and George Savage; and sisters,
Gaye Savage and Mae Savage.
Beulah is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Jackie and Kenny
Bevins of Forest Hills, KY, and Jill and James Stack of Forest Hills, KY.
Grandchildren, J. J. Bevins, Jack Bevins, Jacklyn Stack and Jovie Stack all of Forest Hills, KY.
Sisters, Shelby Savage and Betty Savage of Columbus, OH. Special sister-in-law, Bonnie
Marcum of Kermit, WV, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 P.M. Friday April 11, 2014 at R. E. Rogers Funeral
Home with Rev. Ray Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Lenore Memorial Gardens,
Lenore, WV, with Jack Bevins, Jovie Stack, Kenny Bevins, James Stack, Dustin May and
Stevan Gibbs serving as pallbearers.

Conal Lee Stanley, 64 of White Pine, TN, formerly of Sidney, KY, entered into eternal rest Wednesday April 9, 2014 in Morristown, TN.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Kenner and
Eleanor Grace Stanley and one brother; Darrell Eddie Stanley.
Conal was a retired coal miner from Consolidated
Mining, Sidney, KY, and a member of the U.M.W.A. He
was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and
brother. He will be sadly missed, but our loss is Heaven's gain.
Coanl leaves behind his devoted wife of 44 years Mari Edmiston Stanley of White Pine, TN;
two sons, Carl Lee Stanley of White Pine, TN and Danny Joe (Robiyn) Stanley of Rockhouse,
KY; three grandsons, Joey Duty Stanley and John Duty Stanley both of Hardy, KY and Thomas
Alexander Stanley of Pikeville, KY; one granddaughter, Rebecca Madison Stanley of Pikeville,
KY; three loving sisters, Lois Jean (Greg) Walker of Myrtle Beach, SC, Barbara (Joe) Adkins
of Pikeville, KY and Brenda (Billy) Pinson of Sidney, KY; a loving brother, James Ken (Patty)
Stanley of Canada, KY. and a host of family and friends to mourn his passing.

John Dewey "J.D." Walters Jr. 83 of Sidney, Ky. passed away
Friday, April 11, 2014 at the Pikeville Medical Center.
He was born January 21, 1931 in Pike County, Ky. the son of the
late John Dewey Walters Sr. and Odessa Francis Walters. He was
also preceded in death by his wife, Lassie Jean Walters.
He was a retired coal miner from Eastern Coal Corp. and a
member of the UMWA. He was a loyal member of the Mary
Elizabeth Old Regular Baptist Church.
Survivors include his son, Eddie Dean (Helen Jean) Walters of
Sidney, KY; brothers, Isaac Paul Walters of Gulnare, KY, Gene
Walters and A. B. Walters both of Turkey Creek, KY and Phillip Walters of Sidney, KY;
sisters, Diane Holland of Franklin, NC, Marie Simon and Charlotte Walters both of Hatfield,
KY; two grandchildren, Eddie Dwayne (Sandy) Walters and Suzanne (Chris) West all of
Hafield, KY. and precious great granddaughter on the way, who will be named Presley Jayde
West after him.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 14, 2014 at 11 AM at the Mary Elizabeth Old
Regular Baptist Church with Elders David Crigger, Richard Staton and Albert Cable
officiating. Burial will follow in the Smith Cemetery, Hatfield, KY with family and friends
serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held from 6 - 9 PM Saturday at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home and after 2 PM
Sunday at the Mary Elizabeth Old Regular Baptist Church with special services both nights at 7 PM.
