Ethel M. Scott
LANCASTER -- Ethel Malear Scott, 97, of Hill-n-Dale Drive died Friday at her home.
Born May 16, 1902, in Garrard County, she was a son of the late Alfred and Mary Sowers Malear. She was a homemaker and school teacher for many years. She taught Sunday school at several churches where her late husband, the Rev. Robert F. Scott, pastored.
Survivors include four daughters, Virginia Russell of Louisville, Clara Dean Scott of Lancaster, Doris Neil of Russell and Mary Claxton of Frankfort; two sons, Charles W. Scott of Harrodsburg and the Rev. Robert J. Scott of Austin, Texas; a brother, Harold Malear of Richmond; two sisters, Lillian Brandonburg and Margorie Long, both of Richmond; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Ramsey Funeral Home by the Revs. Pete Arnold and Robert Coppings. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery.
Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today.

Jessie M. Sharp
LIBERTY -- Jessie Marie Sharp, 83, of Liberty died Friday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born Feb. 22, 1917, in Casey County, she was a daughter of the late Herman and Mae Roberts Cravens. She was a homemaker and former employee of Liberty Sportswear. She was the widow of Ernest Sharp.
Survivors include a daughter, Ernie Lou Byrd of Liberty; two sons, Ronald Ernest Sharp of Liberty and Randall C. Sharp of Stanford; two brothers, James Wallace Cravens of Blanchester, Ohio, and Melvin Cravens of Liberty; two sisters, Matrie Morgan of Morrow, Ohio, and Anna Ruth Martin of Liberty; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. today at South Fork Baptist Church by Clifford Dehart. Burial will be in South Fork Cemetery.

Ronald Sims
LIBERTY -- Ronald Arroma Sims, 57, of Bethelridge died Friday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born March 10, 1943, in Casey County, he was a son of the late Raymond Sims and Mary Reece Sims of Kings Mountain. He was a heavy equipment operator and a member of Green River Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Charlene McAninch Sims; two sons, Kendell Sims of Stanford and Timothy Sims of Kings Mountain; a stepson, David McAninch of Yosemite; three brothers, Lyndell, Conley and Dennis Sims, all of Kings Mountain; and six grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home by Jerry Wilcher. Burial will be in Sims Cemetery.
Visitation is 6-9 p.m. today.

David L. Rogers
PERRYVILLE -- Services for David Lynn Rogers, 51, of Worthington Road, Parksville, will be 2 p.m. today at Wilder Funeral Home. Burial will be in Parksville Cemetery.
He died Thursday at Veterans Administration Medical Center, Lexington, of natural causes.
Born Aug. 11, 1948, in Boyle County, he was a son of Dolly Rogers of Parksville and the late Roy Rogers. He was a retired construction worker and an Army veteran, having served as a sergeant in Saigon during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Old Faith Mission Christian Church in Parksville.
Other survivors include a son, David Rogers Jr. of Ohio; four sisters, Judy Davidson of Parksville, Betty Carroll of Junction City, Sharon Reardon of Lebanon and Elizabeth Rogers of Harrodsburg; and two brothers, Donnie and Larry Rogers, both of Parksville.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Gammon, Scottie Turpin, Michael Goss, George Davis, Frebert Honaker and Larry Strevels.

Clifford Young
LANCASTER -- Services for Clifford Young, 89, of Lancaster will be 11 a.m. Monday at Ramsey Funeral Home by the Revs. Barry Jeffries and Zora Oliver. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery.
He died Friday at Fort Logan Hospital.
Born Feb. 19, 1911, in Ludlow, he was a son of the late Otto and Nancey Meredith Young. He was a retired employee of Kentucky Utilities Co. and a member of Lancaster Baptist Church. He was the husband of Helen Young.
Other survivors include a half sister, Mildred Coolman of Cincinnati; a half brother, Kenneth Gangloff of Fortwright; a grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Clifford Allen Young.
Pallbearers will be L.B. Oliver, Terry Davis, Larry Oliver, Elwood Humphry, Jess Humphry Jr. and Clyde Shearer.

Rev. M. Wendell Belew
ROME, Ga. -- The Rev. M. Wendell Belew, 77, of Rome, Ga., died Wednesday in Rome as the result of injuries suffered in a traffic accident on Feb. 24.
Born in Keefer, Ky., he was a Baptist minister and church pastor. He also had served on the Southern Baptist Home Missions Board, was a seminary professor, Bible scholar and author. He was a Navy veteran having served in the South Pacific, North Africa and France.
Survivors include his wife, Edna Record Belew, formerly of Harrodsburg; a son, M. Wendell Belew Jr. of Washington, D.C.; two daughters, Cathy B. McGraw of Rome and Belle M. Belew of Washington, D.C.; and four grandchildren.
Services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Second Avenue Baptist Church. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg, by the Rev. Eugene Enlow.
Visitation is 7-9 p.m. Friday at Daniels Funeral Home.

Roy B. Johnson
Services for Roy Bennett Johnson, 92, of Graham Road will be 1 p.m. Friday at Stith Funeral Home by the Rev. Tommy Valentine. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Nicholasville.
He died Tuesday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born Oct. 30, 1907, in Jessamine County, he was a son of the late George I. and Pearl Cox Johnson. He is a former owner of Johnson & Pohlmann Insurance, a member of Lexington Avenue Baptist Church and the widower of Alice G. Jelf Johnson.
Survivors include a sister, Lucille Carpenter of Nicholasville; and a caregiver, Ann Montgomery of Danville.
Pallbearers will be Scott and Bill Burks, John Carpenter, David Cheese, John Funkhouser, Steele Gregory and Ken Medaris.
Honorary pallbearers are Quin Bailey, Mike Pohlmann , Johnson & Pohlmann Insurance employees, and a Lexington Avenue Baptist Church Sunday School class.

Trudy G. Ransdell
HARRODSBURG -- Services for Trudy Garriott Ransdell, 79, of Cherry Drive will be 11 a.m. Friday at Ransdell Funeral Chapel by the Revs. Larry Wedding and Ray Coates. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
She died Tuesday at her home.
Born April 26, 1920, in Mercer County, she was a daughter of the late James C. and Mary W. Coleman Garriott. She was retired after teaching for 32 years in the Harrodsburg and Salvisa school systems. She was a member of Kirkwood Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the Women's Mission Union. She was a member of Mercer Retired Teachers Association, national and state education associations, and the National Organization for Voting Rights of Women.
Survivors include her husband, James Garnett Ransdell; a brother, Jack Garriott of Mercer County; and three sisters, Adele Ransdell of Harrodsburg, Ruth Bunton of Lexington and Jane Stevens of Danville.
She was preceded in death by a son, Danny Ransdell.
Pallbearers will be Marvin Ridenour, John Bunton, Jim Stevens, David, Franklin and Randy Ransdell.
Honorary pallbearers are members of the Ransdell Reapers.
Visitation is after 5 p.m. today.
