Juanita Stanley, 57 of Delbarton, WV passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at her home.
She was born February 27, 1957 in Williamson, WV the daughter of
the late Joe and Nannie Stanley Workman. She was also preceded in death
by her husband, Tommy Stanley; brothers, Sonny, James, Robert and
Johnny and sisters, Joann, Gail and Jean.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Faith Tabernacle Church.
Survivors include four daughters, Johnnita Hope (Thomas) Butcher of
Delbarton, WV, Angel Honaker of Delbarton, WV who lived at home with
her, Michelle (Kelly) Thacker and Vivian Stanley of Georgia; sisters, Kitty and her husband,
Joe and Mona all of Illinois; one wonderful aunt, Bonnie and Clyde Self of Georgia:
grandchildren, Kayla Thacker, Adrienne Fuller, Angel Honaker, Isaiah Fouch and Jasmine
Perry; one great grandchild on the way; one special niece and husband, Marty and Button Lester
who has been their since she has been sick and also her nephew, J. R. Workman; a host of other
nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Funeral services will be held 1 PM Sunday, November 16, 2014 at the Faith Tabernacle
Church, Majestic, KY with Brother Meeks officiating. Burial will follow in the Stanley
Cemetery, Hardy, KY.
Visitation will be held after 6 PM Friday and Saturday at the Church.
John Clevenger, 69 of Belfry, KY passed away Thursday morning, November 13, 2014 at his residence.
Johnny was born March 27, 1945 in Pike County, KY the son of the late Jack Clevenger Sr.
and Georgia Syck Clevenger. He was also preceded in death by two brothers; Jack Clevenger Jr.
and Charles Clevenger and three sisters, Mae Blackburn, Ruby Bowman and Florence Hatfield.
Johnny was a disabled floral designer and had worked for Freddie's Floral at Belfry for over
twenty years. He was a member of the Octavia Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife Janet Lea Hackney Clevenger of Belfry, KY and a host of nieces,
nephews and friends who will miss his passing.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 16, 2014 at 12 Noon at the Octavia Freewill
Baptist Church with Gerria Reynolds and Dennis Hinkle officiating. Burial will follow in the
Hackney Cemetery, McAndrews, KY with Jimmy Blackburn, Tony Browning, Bill Ball,
Randall Hackney, Larry Hackney and Josh Bowman serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held after 5 PM Friday and Saturday at the Church. Special services will
be held both nights at 7 PM.
Grover Cameron "Curt" Phillips, 80, of Williamson, WV, passed away
Friday, November 14, 2014, at the Williamson Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 3, 1934, at Williamson, WV, to the late Med and
Tressie Lovell Phillips. He is also preceded in death by his wife, the love of
his life, Shelby Sue Fleming Phillips.
He was a retired Williamson Fire Chief, a member of the Coalfield
C.A.P., was on the City of Williamson Park Board for 38 years, serving as
president for the past 35 years. He was a 32nd degree Mason of O'Brien
Lodge #101 of Williamson, a member of the Scottish Rite and Beni Kedem
Temple, a member and past president of the Tug Valley Shrine Club and
was of the Methodist Faith.
He is survived by one son; Robert "Bobby" Cameron Phillips; two daughters; Lisa Carol
Phillips and Lora Phillips Thompson, and son-in-law Parrish Thompson; granddaughter; Lauren
Elizabeth Phillips Sperry, great grandson; Gunnar Nash Sperry and a host of loving friends.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday, November 16, 2014, at the
Williamson Memorial Fieldhouse.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 17, 2014, at the
Williamson Memorial Fieldhouse with Father Nick England officiating. Burial will follow at
Mountain View Memory Gardens at Huddy, KY, with O'Brien Lodge #101 conducting Masonic
Graveside Services and Last Call by the Williamson Fire Department and Belfry Volunteer Fire

Dorse Hatfield, 68, of Ransom, KY passed away Friday, November 14, 2014 at the Pikeville
Medical Center, Pikeville, KY.
He was born September 1, 1946 at Ransom, Ky. the son of the late Jonah and Mable McCoy
Hatfield. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Everett Hatfield; a sister, Nancy Faye
Dotson; a brother-in-law, Don Crawley and a sister-in-law, Ernestine Hatfield. He was a retired
coal miner and a veteran of the United States Army. Dorse loved to do woodworking and gardening.
Survivors include his wife, Ina Prater Hatfield of Ransom, KY; children, Melanie Donn
Hatfield of Hardy, KY, Jonah Dean (Gina) Hatfield of Ransom, KY and Stephanie Dee Boytek
of Lexington, KY; brothers, Dock (Nancy) Hatfield of Ohio and Don Hatfield of Ransom, KY;
sisters, Phylada (George) Smith of Ransom, KY, Lilly Mae Crawley of Lexington, KY and
Patsy Ruth (Ronnie) Salmon of Ransom, KY; grandchildren, Jonah Dean Hatfield II, Joshua

Nell Ruth May, 86, of Forest Hills, KY, passed away Monday
November 17, 2014, at the Appalachian Regional Hospital.
She was born August 23, 1928, in Pike County, KY, to the late James
and Elsie Lowe Varney. She was also preceded in death by her husband,
Mackle Lee May, sons, Millard Lee May, James Edward May and Henry Harold May.
She was a homemaker.
She is survived by one daughter, Karen May (Virgil) Johnson of
Williamson, WV, one son, Daren Michael (Dianne) May of Sidney, KY,
one sister, Clairene McCoy of Burnwell, KY, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren,
family and friends.
Visitation will be after 6 PM Thursday, November 20, 2014, and Friday at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home.

Vonnie Rose Lewis, 59, of Williamson, WV, passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2014, at
the Pikeville Medical Center.
Vonnie was born November 16, 1955, at Williamson, WV, the daughter of the late Ira Blaine
and Velva Stanley Grace. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Terry Grace; her ex-husband, Bo Lewis and a very close friend, Perry McCoy.
She is survived by her daughter, Crystal Smith of Turkey Creek, KY; a brother, Larry Grace
of Dan's Branch, WV; her grandchildren, Paul David Mounts, Matthew Smith and Samuel
Smith and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 21, 2014, at 1 PM in the R. E. Rogers
Funeral Home Chapel with Old Regular Baptist Ministers officiating. Burial will follow in the
Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy, KY, with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held Thursday, November 20, 2014, from 6 - 9 PM in the Funeral Home
Chapel with special services at 7 PM.
Richard Barry Hale, 59, of Marion, Illinois (formerly of Ransom, KY and
Charleston, WV) passed away at 3:15 AM on Tuesday November 18, 2014,
at home surrounded by his family.
He was born on September 8, 1955, in Williamson, WV the son of Fred
and Margaret “Nell” (Kirk) Hale. He married
Paula Farley on August 13, 1977, in Matewan, WV.
After graduating from WV Tech he began his career as a mining engineer
in 1978. He worked for Massey Energy for 29 years, mining coal in Eastern
Kentucky, Southern West Virginia, and Virginia. During his time at Massey,
he received his MBA from Marshall University. In 2007, he was called on by Foresight Energy
and asked to relocate to Southern Illinois where he took a corn field and drove a 7, 000 foot
slope. The product of his work is now one of the most productive long wall mines in the country.
Barry is survived by his mother, Nell, of Parkway Manor in Marion IL; his wife Paula of
Marion; a daughter, Morgan Gant and husband Joshua of Marion; twin granddaughters, Haley
Kathryn and Harper Kinsley of Marion; one sister, Betty Hale of Marion; and one brother,
Robert Hale of Toler, KY.
He is preceded in death by his father.
Barry was a member of the First Baptist Church in Marion.
A visitation will be held Thursday, November 20, 2014, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Murman
and Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City, IL. Visitation will also be held on Sunday,
November 23, 2014, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home in Belfry, KY.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 24, 2014, at 11:00 AM at R. E. Rogers
Funeral Home with Randy Williams officiating. Burial will take place at Alley Cemetery in
Ransom, KY.
Memorials can be made to American Cancer Society or a local charity to help bring
Christmas to children in need.
