Delores Jean Stanley Hatfield completed her earthly walk on earth and
enjoyed her eternal homecoming on Sunday, December 21st, 2014. I can
only imagine what a Sunday morning Homecoming meeting that she took
part in. She passed away at her home after a two-year lingering illness.
She was born on July 7th, 1929, at Toler, Kentucky. She was the daughter
of the late Mary Nan Tye Stanley Wallace and John B. Wallace. She was
preceded in death by both of her parents, as well as her husband Elder Don
Hatfield and a brother Ralph Stanley.
She is survived by her two sons, Don Kevin Hatfield of Hardy,
Kentucky and Tim (Joni) Hatfield of Turkey Creek, Kentucky, a sister in
law, Colleen Stanley of Toler, Kentucky, four grandchildren, Jessie (Dempsey) Hatfield, Shane
(Elisha) Hatfield, Haley and Carson Hatfield, three great grandchildren, Leanna, Lilly and Axel.
Special family friend Emma Pecco, who without her caretaking skills we would have never
been able to keep Mom at home. She truly treated my Mom like her Mom.
Mom loved people and she took great pride is helping out community loved neighbors over
the years. But more than anything she loved Church and her family. She was always there to
lend an ear and give straight forward advice when sometimes we were not always prepared to
receive her well thought out spoken words. She was always right and always wanted the best
for her family. She was well-known for her baking skills and just a few of her favorites were
homemade fudge, oatmeal candy, peanut butter balls, a host of cakes and her cat head biscuits
could not be beat.
She will be missed by her family, Church family and a host of friends and neighbors. She
was a dedicated member of the Old Pond Primitive Baptist. My Mom and Dad both always
would say that, we preach our funerals every day by our actions. This is so true in so many
ways. She led a good race and completed a good fight.
Visitation will take place at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 23rd
beginning at 5:30, with services starting at 7:00 pm.
Funeral services will take place on Wednesday morning at 11 am at R. E. Rogers Funeral
Home. Primitive Baptist Elders Mike Elswick and Raymond Stanley will conduct the services.
A private burial will follow at the Don Hatfield Cemetery at Hardy, Ky.
Special thanks to Tug Valley ARH Regional Medical Center, Bluegrass Hospice, Dr. Soma,
Dr. Mahmood and Teresa Robinson for her care over past several years.
