Susie Smith Dotson, 84, of Ransom, Ky. passed away at 10:03 PM, December 25, 2014, at
her home surrounded by all her children and grandchildren.
Susie was born March 1, 1930, to the late Leonard and Gladys Runyon Smith. She was
preceded in death by her husband, Bud Dotson; one son, Roger Dotson; four brothers,
Woodrow, Kenny, Earnest and Charley Smith; five sisters, Jean Hager, Hines Hager, Jane
Dotson, Melda Dotson and Inez Smith and one son-in-law, Larry Whitt.
Susie was a homemaker and a member of the Samaria Primitive Baptist Church at Ransom,
Ky.
She is survived by seven sons, Darryl (Linda) Dotson, Gary (Pat) Dotson, David Dotson,
Darnell (Janet) Dotson, Bud Jr. (Sherry) Dotson, Jeff (Libby) Dotson and Shawn (Lori) Dotson;
four daughters, Nina (Roger) Birchfield, Glenna Whitt, Annette (Bill) Chafin and Angie (Brian)
Sturm: twenty two grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren, one great great grandchild
and one brother, George (Phylada) Smith .
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Monday, December 29, 2014, at the Samaria
Primitive Baptist Church with Primitive Baptist Ministers officiating. Burial will be at the
family’s private cemetery in Ransom, Kentucky with her sons and grandsons serving as
pallbearers.
Visitation will be held Saturday and Sunday night at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home from 6 - 9
PM with special services both nights at 7 PM.

Rev. Robie L. "Buddy" Kendrick, 83, of Belfry went home to
be with his Lord and Savior, Friday December 26, 2014, at
Pikeville Medical Center.
He was born August 1, 1931, at McAndrews, KY, to the late
Arvin B. and Trula Lee Chapman Kendrick. He was preceded in
death by his beloved wife, Gaynell Kendrick who passed away
May 23, 2014; one son, Richard Lee Kendrick and brothers, Larry
Arvin, Clinton Kermit, Henry Franklin "Pankey" and Terry Paul
Kendrick.
Buddy was a member and had served as Pastor of the Belfry
Freewill Baptist for 48 years. He was a member of Stone Masonic Lodge #890 F. & A. M.;
served on the ordaining counsel for the Freewill Baptist Church Conference of Pike County for
40 years and was a veteran of the United States Army. Buddy was a very special man and a
friend to all. He was faithful to visit the sick in the local hospitals and to hand out candy.
Survivors include one son, Wesley (Terri) Kendrick of Belfry, KY; brothers, Ronnie A.
(Loretta) Kendrick, Gene (Kathy) Kendrick, Mickey B. (Marlene) Kendrick and Gary M.
(Loretta) Kendrick; sisters, Annetta (Mickey) Maynard and Loretta (Raymond) Stanley;
grandchildren, Celinda (Haskell) Vinson, Sara Kendrick, Zachary Kendrick and Kristin
Kendrick; great grandchildren, Audrey Vinson, Mason Vinson and Bentley Davidson and a host
of other loving family and friends who will miss him.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 31, 2014, at 1 PM in the R. E. Rogers
Funeral Home Chapel with Mikie Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain View
Memory Gardens, Huddy, KY, with his nephews serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held from 6 - 9 PM Monday and Tuesday in the Funeral Home Chapel
with special services Tuesday night at 7 PM.

Valerie Kaye Hatfield Smith, 57, of Louisa, KY, passed away Tuesday March 8, 2016, at
Pikeville Medical Center.
She was born March 2, 1959 at Blackberry, KY, to the late Cecil and Vina Johnson Hatfield.
She was a personal manager for Walmart.
She is survived by her husband, David G. Smith of Louisa, KY, two daughters, Vanessa
(Darren) Owens of Huddy, KY, and Jeanna (Juston) Hensley of Ransom, KY, two brothers,
Gary (Yvonne) Hatfield of Ransom, KY, and Gerald Hatfield of Ransom, KY, two sisters,
Sharon (Paul) Coleman of Matewan, WV, and Bessie (Carl) Fields of Ransom, KY, and a host of
loving family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM, March 10, 2016 at Peter Creek Primitive Baptist
Church, Phelps, KY, with Jimmy Smith and Stevie Kinder officiating. Burial will follow at
Dave Smith Cemetery, Smith Fork, Phelps, KY, with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be after 6 PM Wednesday night Peter Creek Primitive Baptist Church, Phelps,
KY, with special services at 7 PM.

Charles Christian "Chris" Daniels, 34, of Salem West Virginia formerly of Hardy, Kentucky
passed away March 8, 2016, in Salem, West Virginia.
Chris was born May 18, 1981, in South Williamson, Kentucky. He was a member of The
Hardy Church of Christ at Hardy, Kentucky. Chris had two special loves in his life, family and
pets, particularly Pit Bulls. Chris strongly felt that the breed was misunderstood. In his down
time, Chris loved to play guitar and loved to hear his wife Donna sing. He was employed as a
Behavioral Health Technician at a mental health crisis center in Bridgeport, West Virginia.
Chris truly enjoyed helping others and dreamed of a continued education in the field. Chris was
a witty person, always offering a joke, laugh and a smile. He was a blessing to his mom, dad,
wife and all that knew him. He will be greatly missed.
Chris was preceded in death by his brother Billy Shannon Bolen, his papaw Charles Francis
Earnest and mamaw Ida Mae Earnest of Hardy, Kentucky and cousin Scott Daniel Hager of
Blackberry, Kentucky.
Chris leaves behind a wife Donna Marie Daniels, a son Jacob Ryan Rutherford of Salem,
West Virginia, his mother and best friend Deborah Gail “Earnest” Epling, his father Gerald L
Epling II both of Hardy, Kentucky, his brother Donnie Ray Bolen of McCarr, Kentucky, Garrett
Epling of Union County Kentucky, Gerald Epling III of Ashland, Kentucky and a host of family
and friends that loved him so dearly.
Visitation will take place at R.E. Rogers Funeral Home March 13 and 14, 2016, at 6:00pm.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 PM Tuesday March 15, 2016, at R. E. Rogers Funeral
Home with Minister John E. Earnest officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain View
Memory Gardens, Huddy, KY. Pallbearers will be Rick Wade, Donnie Bolen, Justin Mahan,
Jacob Rutherford, Gerald Epling III, Lee Singleton, Glen Earnest II, David Michael Earnest,
Jonathon Derek Earnest. Honorary Pallbearers are Gideon Williamson, Terry “Bud” West, Tracy West
and Timmy West.

Shelley K. Loftis, 72, of Forest Hills, KY, passed away Wednesday,
March 16, 2016.
He was born April 22, 1943, at Toler, KY, the son of the late Wallace K. and
Bonnie Moneyhun Loftis.
He was the owner of Color Copy Express. He will always be remembered for his big heart,
generosity and passion for grilling. He was
a simple man who valued his many friendships, family, work family and
his many pets. He was baptized in 1952, at the First Baptist Church of
Belfry and has attended the East Williamson Baptist Church with his
wife for many years.
Shelley is survived by his wife, Marina Bassham Loftis of Forest Hills, KY; his son, Craig
K. (Ann) Loftis of Berea, KY; sister, Nancy Loftis Blackburn of McAndrews, KY; grandchildren,
Ashlee (Michael) Kennedy and Katee Loftis; great grandchild, Caroline Anslee Kennedy;
his beloved in-laws, Florida Smith, Dimetra Preston, Julie Mullin and Royse Bassham; special
neices whom he loved so much, Candice, Emma Kate and Lyndsey; host of other nieces and
nephews whom he loved dearly, Terri (Duane) Curry, Dawn (Tommy) Reed, Corey Blackburn,
Laura (Bill) Barnes, Phillip (Ladonna) Blackburn and Alison (Jarrett) Ensley; all of his Color
Copy Family and his special pal, Taylor Stafford.
Visitation will be held Monday, March 21, 2016, from 4 - 7 PM at the East Williamson
Baptist Church, 414 Peter Street, Williamson, WV, and a memorial service will begin at 7 PM with
Pastor Gary Robbins officiating.

David I. Runyon, 86, of Canada, KY, passed away Friday, March 18,
2016, at Pikeville Medical Center.
David was born March 9, 1930, at Canada, KY, the son of the late I.J. and
Elizabeth Smith Runyon. David was also preceded in death by his wife,
Floydetta S. "Poochie" Runyon and sisters, Betty Mae Runyon Stanley and
Joyce Runyon.
David was a yard foreman for Norfolk and Southern Railroad, a member
of Stone Masonic Lodge #890 F & AM, El Hasa Shrine and York Rite. He
was also a member of the Highland Presbyterian Church and a veteran of the
U. S. Air Force in the Korean War.
David is survived by two daughters, Teressa Runyon (Roger A.) Gibbs of London, KY, and
Melissa Runyon of Paris, KY. One son, David (Jennifer) Runyon II of Canada, KY.
Four sisters, Doris Entry of Okeechobee, FL., Anne (Clinton) Reed of Canada, KY, Anele Runion of
Orlando, Fl, and Sue Tackett of Canada, KY. She is also survived by six grandchildren, James
David Gibbs, Hannah Rose Gibbs, Samantha Paige Blair, Stephanie Nicole Blair,
Zachary David Runyon, Emma Grace Runyon and a host of loving family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM, Monday, March 21, 2016, at R. E. Rogers
Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Hudson and Bill Van Zant officiating. Burial will follow at Smith
Cemetery, Sidney, KY, with James David Gibbs, Zachary David Runyon, Paul Harrison, Mark
Murphy, Anthony Tackett, Michael Murphy, Benny Smith and Madison Thornsbury serving as
pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Hannah Rose Gibbs, Emma Grace Runyon, Samantha
Paige Blair, Stephanie Nicole Blair, Johnny Hiers, Joey Cochran and Paul Cochran.
Visitation will after 6 PM Sunday night at the funeral home with Masonic Services at 6 PM.

Virginia Ruth Runyon, 72, of McCarr, KY, passed away Friday
evening at her home, surrounded by her family.
Virginia was born April 20, 1943, in Coeburn, VA the daughter of
the late William Benten and Reda Clendenin Salyers. She was also
preceded in death by her husband Paul Edward Runyon, son,
George Earnest Salyers, sister Reda Salyers and her granddaughter,
Randi Hammond.
Virginia was a homemaker and of the Pentecostal faith.
She is survived by her children, Cindy (Andy) Runyon of McCarr,
KY, Virginia (Gene) Salyers of St Paul, VA, Diana (Joe) Hale of
Nora, VA, Dana Doyle of Greensville, SC, Gary Runyon of Belfry, KY, Walter (Mechelle)
Salyers of Gate City, VA and step-daughter Virginia Robertson of McCarr, KY. She also leave
behind four grandchildren whom she reside with, William Runyon, Kaine Runyon, Brooklyn
Ferrell and James Ferrell II. Also surviving are her brothers, Jackie Salyers of Puducah, KY,
Ronnie Salyers of Richmond, VA, Carlos Salyers of Bluff City, TN, Lester Salyers of McCarr,
KY, Farris Salyers of Radford, VA and Elmer Salyers of Bluff City, TN. Virginia is also
survived by her special friends, Billy West, Joann Smith, Ruth Clevenger, Patricia Hall, Brenda
Runyon, Erma Johnson and Geneva Manley, along with fourteen grandchildren and thirteen
great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 22, 2016, beginning at 1PM at R.E. Rogers
Funeral Home Chapel with Dwayne Chapman officiating. Burial will follow at the Rutherford
Cemetery, Huddy, KY with Bobby Runyon, Ricky Runyon, Lonnie Thorpe, Philip May, Sam
Spicer, Tracy Salyers, Walter Aaron Hammond, Lester Salyers, and Vernon Slone serving as
pallbearers.
Visitation will be held Sunday and Monday evenings after 6 PM at the funeral home with
special services at 7 PM Monday night.
