Opal Phillips, 78, of Louisa, Ky. formerly of Ransom, Ky. passed away Friday, January 9,
2015, at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington, WV.
She was born August 9, 1936, at Ransom, Ky. the daughter of the late Roland and Grace
Isom Phillips. She was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at 11 AM at the Phillips
Cemetery, Ransom, Ky.
Arnold Lebron (Bron) Whitt, 75 of Forest Hills, KY, passed away Tuesday, January 13,
2015, at the Appalachian Regional Hospital.
He was born November 20, 1939, at Blackberry Creek, Kentucky, to the late Charlie and
Gardner Alley Whitt. He was also preceded in death by his wife Mary Whitt, brothers; Eddie
Whitt, Marshal Whitt, Dale Whitt and Paul Whitt, sisters, Joyce Compton and Lorraine Reed.
He was a retired coal miner and sign maker and a jack of all trades. He was willing to do anything for anyone always welcoming with his charming smile. He was a devoted member of the
Williamson Area Church of Christ. He shared his love for the Lord with everyone he met.
He is survived by his daughter; Joni (Tim) Hatfield of Turkey Creek, KY, son; David Whitt
of Pikeville, KY, brothers; Audley Whitt of Anna, OH, Ben (Elaine) Whitt of Proctorville, OH,
sister; Drema Kinder of Foster, WV, grandchildren; Haley and Carson Hatfield and a host of
nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Friday January 16, 2015, at 5 PM for the family and at 6 PM for the
public with the funeral service at 7 PM with Donnie Estep officiating at the Williamson Area
Church of Christ.
A private burial will be held at Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy, KY.
Anna Ruth Farley Cochran, 78, of Gibraltar, MI, formerly of Hardy,
KY, passed away Sunday January 11, 2015, at her residence in MI.
She was born December 2, 1936, at Hardy, KY, to the late Bob and
Nancy Farley Lockard. She is also preceded in death by one niece, Becky
Coleman and one nephew, Robbie Taylor.
She was a former general foreman at General Motors, a florist and a
member of the Trenton Church of Christin MI.
Survivors include her husband, Ralph Cochran of Gibraltar, MI; children, Terry Lee (Suann) Cochran of Canton, MI, Ralph Edward (Sandy)
Cochran of Ytica, MI, Mary Ruth Cochran of Flat Rock, MI and Randall
Eugene (Carol) Cochran of Gibraltar, MI; four sisters, Faye (Lloyd) Slater of Turkey Creek,
KY, Bonnie (Gene) Miracle of Carlton, MI, Betty (Gene) Taylor of Turkey Creek, KY and
Martha (Elbert) Sesco of Canada, KY; five grandchildren, Robert, Alicia, Michael, Elizabeth
Ann and Mitchell; two great grandchildren, Anna and Alexia and a host of nieces, nephews,
family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 16, 2015 at 12 Noon in the R. E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with David Parsley officiating of the McAndrews Church of Christ. Burial will
follow in the Reed Family Cemetery, Turkey Creek, Ky. Pallbearers will be Robert Baker, Benny Slater, Danny Slater, Gary Slater, Dean Slater, Paul David Sesco, Mike Williamson and Michael Cochran.

Betty Jo Blankenship, 73, of Turkey Creek, KY, passed away
Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at the Appalachian Regional Hospital.
Betty was born October 5, 1941, at Turkey Creek, Ky. the daughter
of the late Willie and Maxie Curry. She was also preceded in death by a
brother, Tommy Curry and a special grandson, Kiren Blankenship.
Betty was a retired nurse aid having worked at the Appalachian Regional Hospital and the Williamson Memorial Hospital. She was a
member of the Gospel House Church at Taylorville, WV.
Survivors include her husband, Earl Blankenship Sr. of Turkey
Creek, KY; daughters, Elizabeth (Doug) Kennedy of Madison, WV, and
Rhonda (JimBo) May of Canada, KY; son, Earl Dewayne Blankenship of Turkey Creek, KY;
step daughter, Erlena (Alan) Baird of Murfreesboro, TN; brothers, John R. Curry, Charles R.
Curry and Eddie L. (Charlotte) Curry all of Turkey Creek, KY; grandchildren, Mallory and

Danny Thomas Scott, 73, of Forest Hills, KY, passed away Wednesday January 14, 2015, at
Pikeville Medical Center.
He was born October 5, 1941, at Matewan, WV, to the late Tom and Della Coleman Scott.
He was an owner of a mining supply company.
He is survived by five children; Dana Scott of Denver, CO, Jo Ann Scott of Portsmouth, OH,
Danny Thomas "Tommy" Scott of Forest Hills, KY, Robert Sean (Angela) Scott of Goshen,
OH, and Bridget Dawn Scott of Lexington, KY; three sisters; Brenda (Sherman) Young of Prestonsburg, KY, Marilyn (Shelley) Hensley of Belfry, KY, and Frances Scott of Sevierville, TN,
five grandchildren; Nicholas Salmons, Nakeisha Raine Salmons, Kirsten Ann Scott, Dominick
Sexton and Arianna Elizabeth Nicole Scott.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Saturday January 17, 2015, at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home with Father Bob Damron officiating. Burial will follow at Bogar Cemetery, Hardy,

Charles Everett Bolen of Belfry, KY, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2015, at the Signature Healthcare, Pikeville, KY.
Charles was born in Lynn, WV the son of the late John and Bonnie Bledsoe Bolen. He was
also preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Adkins; brother, Kenny Bolen and an infant brother.
He was retired from the housekeeping department of the Williamson Appalachian Regional
Hospital and a member of the Leckieville Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Eva Gale Stollings Bolen of Belfry, KY; sisters, Garnet Bolen of
Williamson, WV and Lois Paquette of MN; brothers, Roger Bolen of Dallas, Texas, William
Bolen and Frank Bolen of Columbus, Ohio and James Bolen of Piqua, Ohio and a host of other
family and friends.

Helen R. Swader, 88, of Williamson, WV, passed away Wednesday
January 21, 2015, at Trinity Healthcare after a lingering illness and a lifelong resident of Williamson.
She was born October 25, 1926, at Williamson, WV, to the late William H. "Hugh" Swader and Nora Mabes Swader. She was also preceded
in death by two sisters, Ethel V. Swader Barrett and Gladys Swader
Maynard, two brothers, Everett and Richard Swader.
She went to work straight out of high school at G. C. Murphy's where
she was an assistant manager at the time. She retired to care for her mother. She devoted her life to caring for her mother and father. Ms. Swader
was cared for in her later years by her niece, Barbara Barrett Smith. Her hobbies included bowling, movies and playing bingo. She was active in woman's sports during her high school years
and was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by one sister, Frances Swader Barrett of FL, and several nieces, nephews,
great nieces and great nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Saturday, January 24, 2015, at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home with Roger Blackburn officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain View Memory
Gardens, Huddy, KY, with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Juanita Cowden Waskey, 95, of Pikeville, KY, formerly of Stone, KY, passed away
Wednesday January 21, 2015, at Cedar Creek Assisted Living, Pikeville, KY.
She was born February 8, 1919 at McVeigh, KY, to the late Lindsey Joseph and Rose
Bethuram Cowden. She is also preceded in death by her husband; Joseph G. Waskey, whom she
married on May 17, 1947, and one brother; Elmer Clyde Cowden.
She was a secretary at Ford Motor Company, Stone, KY, and Eastern Coal Company in the
Safety Department. She was a graduate of Belfry High School and Bowling Green Business
College. For many years, she was a faithful and active member of the Stone United Methodist
Church and in recent years enjoyed membership at the First Presbyterian Church of Williamson.
She is survived by her niece; Margaret Ann Cowden of Greenport, NY, special friends; Dora
Gilliam of Forest Hills, KY, and Cora Allara of Johnson City, TN, and a host of loving family
and friends.
Visitation will be from 10 AM until 11 AM Saturday, January 24, 2015, at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home with the funeral service being held at 11 AM with Rick Hisle officiating. Burial
will follow at Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy, KY, with family and friends serving as

Lorraine Robinette, 84, of Murfreesboro, TN, formerly of Hardy,
KY, passed away Thursday, January 22, 2015, at Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro, TN.
She was born August 9, 1930, at Forest Hills, KY, to the late Victor
and Mae McCoy. She is also preceded in death by her husband; Frank
Robinette, son; Donnie Franklin Robinette, daughter; Patricia Robinette, grandson; Keith Cochran, son-in-law; Gary Cochran, four brothers and one sister.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Belfry Freewill Baptist
Church.
She is survived by four daughters; Karen Cochran May of Lascassas, TN, Debbie (Bo) Sloan
of Smyrna, TN, Vicki (Gary) Arnold of Bristol, TN, and Shelia (Doug) Bamforth of Alexandria, KY, three sons; Larry (Kris) Robinette of Fort Gay, WV, Rick (Suzanne) Robinette of
Williamson, WV, and Bill Robinette of Murfreesboro, TN, sixteen grandchildren, thirteen great
grandchildren and a host of loving family and friends.

Elizabeth Ann Ramey, 53, of Stone, KY, passed away Thursday, January 22, 2015, at her
residence.
She was born April 29, 1961, in Columbus, Ohio, the daughter of the late Monroe Franklin
and Patricia Ann May Cochran.
She was a retired cook from the Pike County Board of Education.
Survivors include her daughter, Jessica Ann (Joseph) Duruttya of Lexington, KY; a son, Jeremy Hiram (Elvia) Cochran stationed in Hawaii; sisters, Virginia Muncy and Debbie Cochran
both of Stone, KY; brother, James (Carla) Cochran of PA; one grandchild on the way and a host
of other family and friends.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday, January 27, 2015, at 2 PM, at the First Baptist
Church of Belfry with Brother Mark Helton officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 - 2 PM,
Tuesday prior to services.
