Bertha Smith, 81, of Pinsonfork, KY, passed away Saturday, January 24,
2015, in the Skilled Nursing Facility of the Appalachian Regional Hospital.
She was born May 22, 1933, at McVeigh, KY, the daughter of the late
Willie and Sally May Smith. She was also preceded in death by sisters,
Goldie Folden and Stella Hardy; brothers, Okey Smith, Buster Smith and
Glenn Norman and a nephew, Cecil Smith.
Bertha was a homemaker and a member of the Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Belinda Denise (Bobby) Smith of Madisonville, KY; sister, Celia Smith of Pinsonfork, KY; grandsons, Bobby Darrell (Nadira) Smith of Peachtree City, GA and Bryan David (Shylla) Smith
of Miami, FL; nieces, Linda Sue (Stan) Smith, Brenda Gail Smith, Dianna Lynn Smith and
Connie Chapman all of Pinsonfork, KY; nephew, Billy Joe (Gloria) Smith of Canton, Ohio; a
host of other nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 27, 2015, at 2 PM in the R. E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Gerria Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow in the Charlie Runyon
Cemetery, Pinsonfork, KY. Pallbearers will be Bobby Darrell Smith, Bryan David Smith,
Christopher Smith, William Smith, Gary Goff II, Mark Goff, Okey Smith Jr. and Larry Daniels.
Visitation will be held 6 - 9 PM, Monday, January 26, 2015, at the R. E. Rogers Funeral
Home Chapel.
Judith Smith, 69, of Canada, KY, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 24, 2015, at St. Mary's Hospital in Huntington, WV.
Born June 5, 1945, in Hardy, KY, she was the daughter of the late
Homer and Bertha Smith.
Judy was a homemaker and she loved to cook. She devoted her life
to her children and family. Judy was extremely loved by her community
and was friends to many. She will be sorely missed!
Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Bobby Smith, her five
children, (3) R.D.'s, Robin Dee (Mike) Mayfield of Ft. Worth, TX, Roger Dean (Chris) Farley of Ft. Worth, TX, Regina DeAnn (Billy) Wright
of Williamson, WV, Alta Bridgett (Johnny) Willis of Belfry, KY and Whitney Nicole (Chris)
Brinager of Lenore, WV, 16 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 2 sisters, Barbara Yvonne
(Virgil) Ray of Nashville TN and Sue Carol (C.J.) Sammons of Matewan, WV.
Visitation will be from 6 - 8 PM on Tuesday, January 27th with special services beginning at
7 PM at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home, Belfry, KY.
The funeral will be conducted on Wednesday, January 28th at 1 PM in the R. E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Jimmy Maynard officiating. Burial will follow at Smith's Cemetery in
Sidney, KY with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Vada Marie Anderson, 68, of Pikeville, KY, passed away Sunday,
January 25, 2015, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.
She was born February 18, 1946, at Freeburn, KY, the daughter of
the late Avery and Christina Sullivan Slone. She was also preceded in
death by a sister, Joyce Norman.
Vada was a homemaker.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra Kaye Dotson Sanders and David Keathley of Phelps, KY; sister, Joann Bevins,
brother, Benny Slone; granddaughter and her husband, Beth Ann
Sanders Williams and Johnny "Keith" Williams of McAndrews, KY;
her best friend, Carol Slone and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 28, 2015, at 12 Noon at the Church of
God In Jesus Name, Phelps, KY, with David Norman officiating. Burial will follow in the Family Cemetery, Phelps, KY, with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held from 10 AM until time for the funeral service.
Ruby E. Farley, 85, of McCarr, KY, passed away Tuesday, January 27,
2015, at the Appalachian Regional Hospital.
She was born November 22, 1929, at Barnabas, WV, the daughter of the
late Charlie and Mary Diamond Duty. She was preceded in death by her
loving husband of 50 years, Herbert M. Farley. To this union four sons were
born and one of them Herbert "Herbie" Farley Jr. preceded her in
death. Also one sister, Roberta Duty and two brothers, Talbert Raymond
Duty and Roy Duty.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Varney Missionary Baptist
Church at Varney, KY.
Survivors include three sons, Talbert Randy (Cookie) Farley, Kenneth L. (Connie) Farley
and Brian K. (Linda) Farley all of McCarr, KY; five sisters, Ruth (Jack) Shannon of Willis, TX,
Belva Burke of Sherwood, OH, Corena Stabnav of Dearbourne, MI, Patricia Cleo Chaffins of
GA and Margie (R.L.) Farley of Hardy, KY; one brother, C.W. (Sharon Kay) Duty of Wapakoneta, OH; grandchildren, Angela (Michael) Coleman of McCarr, KY, Herbert (Amanda) Farley III of Crosslanes, WV, Billy (Amanda) Farley of Hamlin, WV, Brianna (Kurtis) Kendrick of
Tuscaloosa, AL, B. K. Farley of McCarr, KY, Rachel (Justin) Blackburn of McCarr, KY,

David Monroe Franklin, 86, of Forest Hills, KY, passed away
Wednesday January 28, 2015, at Trinity Healthcare, Williamson, WV.
He was born September 28, 1928, at Branchland, WV to the late Arnold and Lulu Adkins Franklin. He is also preceded in death by one
brother, Jay Franklin.
He retired after serving for 20 years in the U. S. Air Force, 10 years in
the Secret Service and 10 years in the Sheriff's Department in Florida. He
was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Williamson, WV,
President of the United Methodist Men, Historian for the Church and
Representative for the Parrish.
He is survived by his wife, Lou Anna Lowe Franklin, children, David Robert Franklin of
MD, Sherri Pike of MD, Julie Lewis of FL, Tammy Guidarelli of IL and Mark Lowe Sutton of
SC; two brothers, Haskel Franklin of FL, and Harold Franklin of FL; eight grandchildren, Jason
Franklin, Brittney Lewis, Bradley Lewis, Danielle Pike, David Pike, Louis Guidarelli, Madeline
Guidarelli and Emily Guidarelli; one great grandchild, Silas Monroe and a host of loving family
and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 1 PM, Saturday, January 31, 2015, at the First United
Methodist Church, Williamson, WV, with Allen E. Johnson officiating. Visitation will be from
12 until 1 PM Saturday at the Church.
Osie Mills, 89, of Williamson, WV, passed away Sunday, February 1,
2015, at the Tug Valley Appalachian Regional Hospital, South Williamson, KY.
Osie was October 6, 1925, the daughter of the late Alvin and Truly
Maynard Bowling. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas
Mills Sr. as well as two sons, Robert Bruce Mills and Jerry Michael Mills,
two sisters, Chloe Jenkins and Maggie Frazier and a brother, Dallas Bowling.
Osie worked many years as a cook at the Tug Valley Country Club, and
the Moose and Elk Lodges of Williamson, WV. She was also a member of
the Calvary Baptist Church of Williamson, WV.
She is survived by two children, Thomas (Eloise) Mills Jr. of Hardy, KY., and Janice (Jack)
Repass of Wake Forest, NC. She also leaves behind four grandchildren, Mary (Irv) Miles, Paul
(Terri) Mills, Karen (Marvin) Wright, and Heather (Josh) Kerr, as well as eight great grandchildren, Ciera Mills, Taylor Miles, Peyton Wright, Matthew Mills, Jon Mills, Riley Kerr
and Preston Kerr. She is also survived by her brother, Thomas Bowling Jr. of Turkey Creek,
KY and a sister, Verda (Jim) King of Belfry, KY, as well as a host of other loving family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 4, 2015, beginning at 1 PM at the R.E.
Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Don Varney and Aaron Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow at the Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy, KY., with Paul Mills, Matt Mills, Ed
Lockard, Irv Miles, Jon Mills and Josh Kerr serving as pallbearers.

with special music at 7 PM.
Mary Elizabeth Taylor, 86, of Hatfield, KY passed away at her home on Sunday February 1, 2015.
Mary was born October 28, 1928, the daughter of the late Jess Staton and
Ethel Goff Staton Walters. She was also preceded in death by her first husband Mont Stepp, her second husband, Raymond Taylor, her son, Danny Stepp and her step-father, James Seton Walters.
Mary was a homemaker, who loved to garden and tend to her flowers;
she also loved her dog, Sasha. She was a member of the Belfry United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her children, Barbara Stepp of South Williamson, KY
and James (Betty) Stepp of Turkey Creek, KY. She also leaves behind five grandchildren, Jimmy Stepp, Christy Casey, Misty McCoy, Terena Stepp, Amanda Goegan and Kim (Allen)
Weddington, along with nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a special nephew,
Gary Douglas Stepp of Huntsville, AL. as well as a host of other loving family and friends.

United Methodist Church, Belfry, KY with Mike Stanley officiating. Burial will follow at the
Stepp Cemetery, Hatfield, KY. with Jimmy Stepp, Gary Stepp, Mike Casey, Steven Tucker,
Shawn Robinette, Jimmy Blackburn, and Taylor Weddington serving as pallbearers.

Minnie Alice Williams Goins, 78, of Aflex, KY, passed away Monday February 2, 2015, at her residence.
She was born July 16, 1936, at Goody, KY, to the late David and
Delcie Adkins Williams. She is also preceded in death by her husband,
Willie Ivan Goins; two sons: Gregory Dean Goins and Donald Keith
Goins, and four sisters: Edna Truskowski, Kay Bevins, Juanita Matney
and Janet Trout.
She was a retired manager for several clothing stores, a member of
the Leckieville Freewill Baptist Church, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the choir.
Minnie is survived by her children, David (Connie) Goins of Tuscaloosa, AL, Connie (Richard) Dean of Charleston, WV, and Paula (Benjamin) Marian of Aflex, KY, three brothers, Don
(Connie) Williams of Gordon, GA, Rick (Pam) Williams of Gordon, GA, and Gordon (Donna)
Wallace of Belo, WV, sister, Sue (Frank) Williams of Aflex, Ky, eleven grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildlren and a host of loving family and friends.
