Timothy Dwayne Thacker, 54, of Huddy, KY, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2015, at his residence.
He was born February 12, 1961, at Williamson, WV, the son of Beatrice Irene Blackburn
Thacker of Huddy, KY and the late Elmer Thacker.
He was a security guard for Guardco, a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Besides his mother, he is survived by his sister, Mary Ellen Dotson of McVeigh, KY; nephews, Johnathan West and Nick West both of Canada, KY; niece, Amanda West of Canada, KY
and a host of other loving family and friends.
Visitation will be from 6 - 9 PM, Monday and Tuesday at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home with
special services Tuesday night at 7 PM.
Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon Wednesday, July 1, 2015, in the R. E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Johnny Jacobs, Randall Thornsbury and others officiating. Burial will
follow in the Coburn Point Cemetery, Huddy, KY, with his nephews and other family and
friends serving as pallbearers. Belfry Chapter #141 DAV will conduct military graveside services.
Mildred McCoy, 77, of Hardy, KY, passed away June 27, 2015, at the Tug Valley Regional
Medical Center, South Williamson, KY.
Mildred was born on July 27, 1937, the daughter of the late Lucian David and Eva Jane Fitzpatrick Chaffin. She is also preceded in death by her first husband, Cloister Endicott as well as
her second husband, Joe Jerry Howell. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Ralph and
Samuel Endicott, two grandsons, Nicholas Endicott and Charlie Ward, three sisters, Inis Endicott, Bonnie Sue Bailey, and Edith Chaffin and, a brother, Buddy Chaffin.
Mildred often attended Bluesprings Freewill Baptist Church with her family and she had a
special love for horses.
She is survived by, her children, Charles (Cheryl) Endicott of Logan, WV, Patricia (Carl)
Church of Hardy, KY, Sandra Endicott of Williamson, WV, Dixie Prichard of Georgia, Bonnie
Gibson of Logan, WV and Joe (Donna) Howell of Williamson, WV. She also leaves behind her
four brothers, Joe, Robert, Don and Emmonds Chaffin all of Warfield, KY and her three sisters,
Pauline Ferguson of Wayne County, WV, Mary Lou Stanley of Warfield, KY and Jane Lambert
of Florida. She is also survived by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-greatgrandchildren and other loving family members and friends.
Services will be held Thursday, July 2, 2015 at the Bluesprings Freewill Baptist Church,
Ransom, KY beginning at 1 PM, with Larry Hubbard, Roger Bogar and Junior Church officiating. Burial will follow at the Bluesprings Church Cemetery with family and friends servings as
pallbearers.
Visitation will be held Tuesday and Wednesday nights at the church beginning at 6PM with
special service each night at 7 PM.
Jo Ann Horn, 81, of McVeigh, KY, passed away Monday,
June 29, 2015, at the Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, KY.
Jo Ann was born March 13, 1934, the daughter of the late
Doc Burgess and Gusta Collins Kennedy. She is also preceded
in death by her first husband, Bill Staton and second husband,
Dexter Horn. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Ethel
Smith and her husband James and a nephew, Michael Smith.
Jo Ann was a member of the McAndrews Church of Christ.
She is survived by her daughter, Angela (Terry) Staton May
of McVeigh, KY, and step daughters, Sherry Crum of Martin,
KY and Renee Hammond of Prestonsburg, KY. She also leaves behind her grandson, Staton
May, and step grandsons, Kevin and Keith Crum and Scott Crum, her brother, Oscar (Delores)
Kennedy, three nieces, Lisa Ann Smith, Debbie Conley, and Diana Tripplett and a nephew, Brian Kennedy, along with a host of other loving family and friends.
Services will be held Thursday, July 2, 2015, at the R.E Rogers Funeral Home Chapel beginning at 11AM with David Parsley officiating. Burial will follow at the Mountain View
Memory Gardens, Huddy, KY with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 30, 2015, and Wednesday, July 1, 2015, after 6 PM
with special services both nights at 7 PM.
Douglas Lee Higgins, 79, of Hatfield, KY, passed away Friday, July 3, 2015, at the Pikeville Medical Center.
Doug was born November 1, 1935, at Toler, KY, the son of the late Roy and Dovie Spriggs Higgins.
He was a retired self-employed truck driver, a member of the Stone Masonic Lodge #890 F.
& A.M. and the Stone Shrine Club.
Survivors include his loving wife, Christine Elkins Higgins of Hatfield, KY; son, Gregory
Lee (Linda Sue) Higgins of Hatfield, KY; brother, James (Mearl) Higgins of Columbus, Ohio;
grandson, Nathaniel (Alie) Higgins and great grandson, Avery Tanner Higgins. He also leaves
behind a host of other loving family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 6, 2015, at 11 AM in the R. E. Rogers Funeral
Home Chapel with Shawn Ward officiating. Entombment will follow in the Elkins Family
Cemetery, Hatfield, KY with his friends serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be his
grandson, Nathaniel Higgins.
Visitation will be held Sunday, July 5, 2015, from 6 - 9 PM with a short service at 7 PM.
Ronald Lee Hambel, age 46, passed away Monday, June 29, 2015 at Doctors Hospital West.

Bertha Marie (Chapman) Blackburn, 96, of Canada, Ky. completed
her life of service on July 7, 2015, at Signature Healthcare of Pikeville, Ky.
She was born May 27, 1919, at Roadfork, Ky, the daughter of the late
Joseph and Betty (Collins) Chapman. She was married
on May 18, 1937,
and enjoyed 45 years with her husband, Floyd Blackburn. She was preceded in death by three (3) sisters, Quanita Harshburger, Gladys Rose,
Mary Jane Sandifer, and four (4) brothers, William "Frankie", Hillard,
Arnold and Clarence Chapman.
Survivors include, a daughter, Betsy (Clyde) James of Canada, Ky.
Grandson, David Lell (Tia) James of Winchester, Ky, Floyd Michael (Belinda) James of Canada, Ky, granddaughter, Shelley Marie James of Canada, Ky, two great-grandsons, Jacob and
Collin James and one great- grandaughter, Chloe Marie Kelley. One living sister, Sarah
Neilson of Orville, Ohio, and one brother Joseph (Helen) Chapman of Canada, Ky. One special
niece, Sheila (Ralph) Stepp, Chad and Stephanie, and Jason Chapman.
Bertha only went through the sixth grade; she had to leave school at a very young age to help
with the chores around the house. She then met her late husband, Floyd Blackburn, and married
in 1937. Soon after she married, her loving husband was drafted to WWII. While he was in active duty, she began her journey as "Rosie the Riveter." As a crane Operator, Bertha filled locomotive cars with battery water for Republic Steel. After three years of hard work and dedication, she came home to raise her beautiful daughter "Betsy". While being a loving mother and
wife she started a 15-year career at Stronsinider Drug Store as a Fountain Manager. Bertha is
proud to be a caring, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. When she wasn't
working, her favorite past time was gardening in her many flower beds. She was a member of
The Big Creek Freewill Baptist Church where she faithfully served the Lord throughout her life
for 45 years. Bertha will live forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
The Lord called Bertha to her heavenly home where she is now resting High on the Mountain.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2015, at R. E. Rogers Funeral
Home with Pastor Gary Blackburn officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Cemetery at Canada, Ky.
Family will receive friends beginning at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, July 9 night and Friday, July 10
with special services at 7:00 p.m. both nights.
Juanita Janette Cather, 81, of Turkey Creek, KY passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at her
home surrounded by her loving family. She was a very strong, faithful and loving mother, who
was a fighter until the Lord called her home.
She was born February 25, 1934, at Williamson, WV, to the late Guy Dewey and Clarice
Hensley Kimble. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Lester Hall Cather Jr. One sister, Anna Lois Tanner and two brothers, Guilford and James Kimble.
She was a homemaker and a member of Community Lighthouse Ministries.
She is survived by her children, Bradford Hall (Krista) Cather of Williamson, WV, James
Guilford (Joan) Cather of Elizabethtown, KY, Kenneth Ray (Su) Cather of Somerset, KY,
Leslie Fawnette (Steve) Maynard of Turkey Creek, KY, Kathleen Dawnette Ward of Charleston, WV, and Guy Steven (Ethel) Cather of Plymouth, IN. Three sisters, Elizabeth Dooley,
Loretta Smith and Virginia Davis and one brother, Clarence Kimble. Nine grandchildren, Jason
Uriah Cather, Cory Steven Maynard, Patricia Kathleen Bennett, Sara Kristine Maynard, Jonathan Tye Cather, James Eldridge Wood, Patricia Kristine Ward, Danielle Nicole Ward and
Leslie Kathleen Cather. Six great grandchildren, Jayson Hall Cather, Jenson Uriah Cather, Zoe
Aislin Maynard, Finnegan Cory Maynard, Landon Bennett, Piper Blakely Bennett and a host of
family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 PM Friday, July 10, 2015, at R. E. Rogers Funeral
Home with Okey Varney officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Williamson, WV
with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Randall Roy Mann, 60, of McCarr, KY, passed away Thursday July 9, 2015, at his residence.
He was born January 25, 1955 at Matewan, WV, to the late Glen Mann and Wanda Gooslin
Mann. He is also preceded in death by one brother, Millard Mann and one sister, Sharon
Campanella.
He was a coal miner and a member of Faith Mission Church.
He is survived by two sisters, Mary Warner of McCarr, Ky, and Sheila Smith of Lexington,
KY, and a host of loving family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 PM, Monday July 13, 2015 at Faith Mission Church
with Jimmy Fields officiating. Burial will follow at Gooslin Cemetery, McCarr, KY, with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be after 6 PM Saturday and Sunday night at the church with special services
both nights at 7 PM.
