Availyn Rylee Grace Young, infant daughter of Timera Thacker and Barry Keith Young Jr.
was stillborn on Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at Pikeville Medical Center.
Survivors other than her parents are her grandparents, Timmy Thacker, Bryttnee Thacker,
Barry Young, Penny Tackett and Dawn Pennington. Great Grandparents, Venita Chapman,
Dwayne Chapman, Sandra Tackett, Amon Tackett, Patricia Thacker, Joseph Ibos and Marsha
Kirk Ibos. Aunts and Uncles, Joey Chapman, Carissa Brown, Rusty Young, Tiara Thacker,
Timlee Thacker and Taelyn Thacker and step Aunt, Abby Rose.
She was also preceded in death by her great grandfather, Virgil Thacker and great great
grandmother, Avalia Mullins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 PM, Thursday, April 7, 2016, at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home with Dwayne Chapman officiating. Burial will follow at Davidson Memorial Gardens, Ivel, KY.
Visitation will be at Noon Thursday at the funeral home.
Jimmy Lee May, of Toler, KY, passed away on April 11, 2016, at the
Hospice Care Center in Hazard, KY.
He was born on July 3, 1933, at Hardy, KY, to the late Sidney Lee May
and Hazy Ethel (Phillips) May of Toler, KY.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Sidney
Ervin May of Cincinnati, OH, a younger brother, Darrell Dean May of Norfolk, VA and a set of twin brothers at birth.
He is survived by three brothers, Paul (Phyllis) May, his caretakers, of
Folkston, Georgia, Albert (Judy) May of Newark, OH and Johnny (Loretta)
May of Brandon, Florida. Also surviving are his sister-in-laws, Katherine
Hatfield May of Cincinnati, OH and Hoa May of Gates, North Carolina.
He was loved by his nieces and nephews, neighbors and friends, Bluesprings Freewill Baptist Church family, Belfry Senior Citizens, workers at the Hospice of the Bluegrass, Hazard, KY, and many others.
At the young age of sixteen, Jimmy's life changed due to seizures. At nineteen, Jimmy
stepped out in revival and accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior. He has been a faithful follower of Jesus.
His church has been faithful to pick Jimmy up for church services when his brothers were
not in town. They were also faithful to visit and sing songs after he became home bound from a
stroke. His church has shown the love of Christ in their love for Jimmy (their bachelor church member).
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 17, 2016, at the Bluesprings Freewill Baptist
Church located at Ransom, KY, beginning at 2 PM. Larry Hubbard will be conducting the services. Burial will follow at the Bluesprings Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday and Saturday nights at R.E. Rogers Funeral Home chapel from
6-9PM, with services both nights at 7 PM. R. E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry is in charge of
arrangements. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hospice Care Center at Hazard, KY.
Oscar Kennedy, 89, of Pinsonfork, KY, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at his home.
He was born February 22, 1927, at Glen Alum, WV the son of the late Doc Burgess and Gusta Collins Kennedy.
He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Delores June Kennedy who
died on November 11, 2015, and two sisters, JoAnn Horn and Ethel Smith.
He was a retired coal miner having worked for Eastern Coal Corporation for 40 years. He
was a member of the United Mine Workers of America, a veteran of the United States Navy and
a member of the McAndrews Church of Christ.
Survivors include his three children, Debra (Roger) Conley, Dianna (Greg) Triplett and Brian (Kim) Kennedy all of Pinsonfork, KY; three grandchildren, Mark Conley, Jaime (Jimmy)
Brock and Breanna Kennedy; two great grandchildren, Sydney Brock and Caidence Brock; his
caregivers, Terry and Angela May, Tammy Pope, Wendell Stollings, Bucky and Connie Scott,
Louwanna Rose, Tiny Queen, Ron and Haley Spears and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 15, 2016, at 11 AM in the R. E. Rogers Funeral
Home Chapel with David Parsley and Dennis Wolford officiating. Burial will follow in the
Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy, KY, with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

William Everett (Bill) Staggs, 89, of Ransom, KY, died Thursday, April 14, 2016, at his home.
Born January 2, 1927, at Thacker, WV, he was the son of the late
William Douglas and Carrie Burchett Bolen. He was preceded in death
by his wife, Mabel Lee Hatfield Staggs. Also, preceding in death are
two daughters-in-law, Linda Dale Edwards Staggs and Kathy Jean Alley
Staggs; two brothers, Arnold Staggs and Leonard Bolen; three sisters,
Mary Bolen, Magalene Bolen, and Dappledean Bolen; two grandsons and three great grandchildren.
Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was
also an avid runner, hard working retired coal miner and a U.S. Air Force Veteran.
Survivors include his children, James Thurman Staggs of Louisa, KY, Patricia Ann (Johnie
Landon) Raines of Greensboro, N.C., Edward Francis (Linda Kay) Staggs, Wayne Douglas
Staggs, Pamela Sue (George Easley) Dotson, Carolyn Renee (Jeffrey Ross) Stanley, William
Everett (Kimberly Michelle) Staggs Jr. and Gregory Dale (Selena Kay) Staggs all of Ransom,
KY and Michael Brian (Olga Diane) Staggs of Hardy, KY; sister, McQuedis Sullivan of Phelps,
KY; 35 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren and a host of other
family and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 1 PM, Sunday, April 17, 2016, at R. E. Rogers Funeral
Home Chapel. Family visitation will be at 12 PM on Sunday. Burial will follow in the Alley
Cemetery, Ransom, KY. Belfry Chapter #141 DAV will conduct military services.

Edna Grace Wellman, 84, of Pikeville, KY, formerly of Hardy, KY, passed away Friday,
April 15, 2016, at her residence.
She was born March 1, 1932, the daughter of the late Lear Coleman Scott and Leonard Scott.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Curtis Wellman of Pikeville, KY; daughter,
Connie Maddox of Pikeville, KY; son, Ron (Fanitsa) Wellman of Okemos, Michigan; sister,
Verda Adkins of Canton, Ohio; three granddaughters, Christina Wellman of Okemos, Michigan, Diana Wellman of Los Angeles, California and Alison Maddox of Georgetown, KY, and a host of other family and friends.
Edna began her working life at the age of 14 for R. H. Hobbs, Williamson, WV; then for the
Eastern Coal Company store at Stone, KY. She later became the postmaster at Hardy, KY, a
position from which she retired in 1992. She was a member of the Toler Freewill Baptist
Church; member of Stone Chapter #533 Order of the Eastern Star and a very active volunteer in her community.
Visitation will be from 6 - 9 PM Sunday, April 17, 2016, evening at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home, Belfry.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 PM Monday, April 18, 2016, at R. E. Rogers Funeral
Home with Reverends Johnny Hatfield and Mike Smith officiating. Burial will follow at

Faynell Gross May, 93, of Sidney, KY, passed away Monday, April 17, 2016, at her residence.
She was born February 26, 1923, at Pikeville, KY, the daughter
of the late Bradley and Ressie Johnson Gross. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy May; two sons, James Samuel May and Don May; granddaughter, Rebecca Harmon and a great granddaughter, Amanda Justice.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Dix Fork Old Regular Baptist Church.

Edith Gayle Lockard, 71, of Turkey Creek, KY, passed away Saturday
April 23, 2016, at Tug Valley Regional Medical Center.
Edith was born January 2, 1945, to the late Russell Elkins and Fonnie
Bevins Elkins. She was also preceded in death by a son, Cullen Lockard Jr.;
grandson, Blake Musick and several brothers and sisters.
Edith was a homemaker and a member of the Turkey Creek Old Regular Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Cullen Lacy Lockard Sr. of Turkey Creek,
KY; sons, Edwin Eugene (Gina Lynn) Lockard of Morganton, NC and Brian

Cordie Alice Francis, 77, of Huddy, KY, passed away Sunday April 24, 2016, at her residence.
Cordie was born May 14, 1938, at Huddy, KY, to the late Floyd
Bostic and Reva Maynard Bostic. Cordie is also preceded in death by
her husband, George Lee Francis and two sisters, Florine Yates and Lorene Bostic.
Cordie was a homemaker and a member of the Williamson Apostolic Church.
Survivors include her son, George Keith (Tammy) Francis of
Huddy, KY; grandchildren, Nachanda Francis of Pikeville, KY and
Amanda Francis of Morehead, KY; step grandchildren, Alicia Blankenship and Jennifer Stacy;
