Ricky Dale Thacker, 31 of Richmond, KY departed this life on
Saturday, February 5, 2011. He was born in Pike County and raised in
Sidney, Ky.
He was a general laborer, a beloved father, son, grandson, brother and
uncle.
He was preceded in death by his uncle, Patrick Thacker, great uncle,
Clinton Jr. (C.J.) Williamson, grandparents, Omer and Gladys
Williamson, great grandparents, Jack and Alley Brown Williamson and
Fred and Anna Varney, step father, Charlie Anderson and aunt, Bessie
Mae Stacey.
He is survived by his wife, Vanessa Maynard Chapman Thacker of the home, daughter,
Makayla Thacker of Louisa, KY, sons, Brendan Chapman of Belfry, Ky. and Jayden Levering
of Louisa, Ky.; his parents, Kathy and Mike Levering of Louisa, Ky. and Rick Thacker of
Sidney, Ky.; stepmother, Sharon Pinson. His grandparents, Hazel and Bob Thacker of Dix
Fork, Ky.; Pete and Jean Varney of Morehead, Ky. and Loretta and Ben Young of Morehead,
Ky.; brother, Brandon (Brandi) Thacker of Goodman Hollow, WV.; sisters, Ashlea Anderson of
Goodman Hollow, WV, Bobbi Thacker of Sidney, KY, Amy (Brian) Martin of Lexington, KY,
Sabrina Loveitt of Wilmur, Crystal Thacker of Alabama and Selena Pinson of Alabama and his
nephews, Braydon Thacker, Kameron Vaughn and Hunter Thacker and a host of family and
friends.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at 1 PM in the R. E. Rogers Funeral
Home Chapel with Emery Varney and Larry Hubbard officiating. Burial will follow in the
Williamson Cemetery, Sidney, Ky. with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation
will be held after 6 Pm Monday at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home with special services at 7 PM.
Orsion Byrd Maddison Lowe, 95, of Brushy Road, Pikeville, Kentucky
died Monday, February 7, 2011 at his residence. He was born September 28,
1915 at Pikeville, Ky. to the late James Montville Lowe and Ruth Leona
Taylor Lowe. He is also preceded in death by his wife; Claudia Francis
Lowe. Two sons; Donnie Lowe and Johnnie James Lowe, one daughter;
Sharon Kaye Lowe Young, two brothers; Moses Fonso Lowe and Lonzo
Taylor Lowe and three sisters; Marybell Maynard, Alice Vivian Maynard
and Myrtle Maynard. He was a farmer, truck driver, logger and factory
worker.
He is survived by three sons; Moses Fonso (Sue) Lowe of Brushy, KY, Kenneth Darrel
Lowe of Brushy, Ky and Junior (Janice) Lowe of Michigan, five daughters; Alice (Charles)
Lowe of Brushy, Ky Mary (Larry) Lowe Thompson of Allen, Ky Alfredia (Mike) Lowe
Sammons of Brushy, Ky Ruby (Paul) Maynard of Brushy, Ky and Ruth (Herman) Hobbs, Ohio,
son-in-law; Gary Young, husband of Sharon Young, daughter-in-law; Phyllis Lowe, wife of
Johnny James Lowe, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great great
grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday February 10, 2011 at R. E. Rogers Funeral
Home with Old Regular Baptist Church Ministers officiating. Burial will follow at the Mont
Lowe Cemetery at Brushy, Ky with Chuck Lowe, Wesley Lowe, Dwaine Thompson, Tanner
Sammons, Maddison Thompson, Brandon Smith, Wade Lowe and Weston Lowe serving as
pallbearers. Visitation will be held after 6 P.M. Tuesday Evening and Wednesday evening at the
R.E. Rogers Funeral Home, Belfry, Ky with special services at 7 PM Wednesday evening.
Rhonda Simone Lowe, 46 of Romulus, MI formerly of Pike County, Ky. passed away
Friday, February 4, 2011.
She was born November 10, 1964 in Pikeville, Ky. the daughter of Phyllis Robinette Lowe
and the late Johnnie James Lowe. She was also preceded in death by her grandparents, Willard
Robinette and Hazel Lowe.
Other survivors include brothers, Johnda (Annette) Lowe, Timothy Lowe and Johnnie James
Lowe Jr.; sister, Kimberly (Joe) Montague; nieces, Emma'lee McIntyre, Emma and Anna
Montague; nephews, Anthony and Dennis McIntyre; Mae Robinette and Byrd Lowe, who
passed away Monday February 7, 2011.
Funeral services will be Friday, February 11, 2011 at 11 AM at the Apple Orchard Old
Regular Baptist Church with Dale Williamson and Richard Staton officiating. Burial will
follow in the Apple Orchard Cemetery, Varney, KY with family and friends serving as
pallbearers, Visitation will be held after 5:30 PM Thursday, February 10, 2011 at the Pilgrim
Home Old Regular Baptist Church. Special singing will be at 6:30 PM Thursday night with
special services at 7 PM with Paul Maynard and Andrew Walters officiating.
Donald Ray Dotson 70, of Freeburn, KY passed away Monday February 7, 2011 at the Paul
B. Hall Medical Center. He was born March 2, 1940 in Pike County, Ky to Claudia Jane Hager
Dotson of Ransom, Ky and the late Don Dotson. He is also preceded in death by his wife; Mary
Dotson, one sister; Annalene Harles and one brother; Billy Dotson. He was a general laborer
and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Besides his mother he is survived by his children; Cathy, Michael, Nickie and Donette, one
brother; Paul Dotson of McCarr, Ky and four sisters; Phyllis Higgins of Piketon, Ohio, Helen
Roberts of Columbus, Ohio, Dorothy Glaze of Lucasville, Ohio and Brenda Wright of
Oldsmar, Fl., and a host of family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 PM Saturday February 12, 2011 at Bluesprings
Freewill Baptist Church with Emery Varney and Lerry Hubbard officiating. Burial will follow
at Dotson Cemetery, Ransom, KY, with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation
will be after 6 PM Thursday and Friday night at Bluesprings Freewill Baptist Church with
special services both nights at 7 PM.
Terri Nicole Zornes Honaker, 28 of Ransom, KY passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2011.
She was born April 7, 1982 in Logan, WV the daughter of Randy Zornes of Delbarton, WV
and Betty Dotson Zornes of Ransom, Ky. She was a loving daughter, mother, granddaughter
and sister. She was a faithful member of the Freeburn Church of God.
Other survivors include her loving daughters, Cassie Honaker and Hailey Zornes both of the
Home; grandmother, Norma Dotson of Ransom, Ky.; sister, Evelyn Ellis of Lenore, WV and a
host of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 13, 2011 at 1 PM in the R. E. Rogers Funeral
Home Chapel with Johnny Matthew Fields officiating. Burial will follow in the Dotson
Cemetery, Ransom, Ky. with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held
after 6 PM on Friday and Saturday at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home with special services both
nights at 7 PM.
Magalene Louise "Maggie" Hager Varney 87, of Mount Airy, NC passed away Monday
morning, February 14, 2011, at Northern Hospital of Surry County.
Mrs. Varney was born November 23, 1923, in Mingo County, West Virginia, daughter of the
late William McKinley and Orthea Runyon Hager.
Maggie worked at Cantee's Department Store in Williamson, West Virginia, in her early adult
years. She later worked at Sears-Roebuck Company in Williamson, West Virginia, where she
retired as a clerk after many years of service.
Maggie and her husband, Earl L. Varney Sr., moved to Mount Airy, NC after their retirement
in 1981, and she worked part-time at Wal-Mart. Mrs. Varney was a member of Salem Old
Regular Baptist Church in Goody, Kentucky.
She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Earl L. Varney, Sr. of the home; a son and
daughter-in-law, Earl L. Varney Jr. and Jan Varney of Mount Airy, NC.; two grandsons and
their spouses, Anthony Lee "Tony" and Melissa Varney of Mount Airy, N.C. and Gregory Earl
and Jessica Varney of Asheville, NC. and three great grandchildren, Jasmine Varney, Bryson
Varney and Mason Varney all of Mount Airy, NC.
The Funeral Service will be held Thursday, February 17, 2011 at 11 AM at Salem Baptist
Church in Goody, Kentucky with Old Regular Baptist Ministers officiating. Interment will
follow at Mt. View Memory Gardens in Huddy, Ky. with family and friends serving as
pallbearers. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Dorothy Blackburn Mosley, 93 of McAndrews, KY, passed away
Monday, February 14, 2011 at the Appalachian Regional Hospital, South
Williamson, KY.
Dorothy was born April 6, 1917 at McAndrews, Ky. the daughter of
the late Lee Otis Blackburn and Louvena May Blackburn West. She was
also preceded in death by her loving husband, Rev. Jesse Mosley; sisters,
Florence May, Grace Ratliff, Audrey Hensley and Estilene Blackburn;
brothers, Lawrence Blackburn and Paul West; two infant sons and one
great grandson.
She was a homemaker and she and her husband, Jess had owned and operated a grocery
store. She was a member of the Belfry Freewill Baptist Church, where she had attended
alongside her husband for many years.
Survivors include four daughters, Anna Lee (Joe) Tetreault of Florida, Jackie (Ed) Guden
and Carol Mabe all of North Carolina and Connie (Mike) May of McAndrews, KY, son, Gary
(Tami) Mosley of Williamson, WV; two sisters, Josephine Mullins of McAndrews, Ky. and
Jeraldine Adkins of Lexington, Ky.; two brothers, Norman West of Tennessee and William
"Bill" West of Florida; 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 4 great great
grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, February 17, 2011 at the R. E. Rogers
Funeral Home, Belfry, Ky. with Buddy Kendrick officiating. Burial will follow in the
Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy, Ky. with grandsons serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held after 6 PM Wednesday, February, 16, 2011 at the R. E. Rogers Funeral
Home Chapel with a special singing service at 7 PM.
Wendell Maynard, 53 of Pinsonfork, KY passed away Saturday,
February 12, 2011 in Forrest City, Arkansas.
He was born December 31, 1957 in Williamson, WV the son of Edith
Bostic May of Phelps, Ky. and the late Donnie Maynard. He was also
preceded in death by his Step Father, Jess Casey.
He was a truck driver for Starr Transport, a graduate of Belfry High
School Class of 1976 and a veteran of the United States Army.
Other survivors include his wife, Shirley Ann French Maynard of
Pinsonfork, Ky.; one son, Wendell Maynard Jr. of the Home; his Aunt, Myrtle Beard of Mingo
County, WV and a host of loving family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 19, 2011 at 11 AM in the R. E. Rogers
Funeral Home Chapel with Buddy Kendrick officiating. Visitation will be held after 6 PM
Friday, February 18, 2011 at the R.E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel.
