Helen Shelton, 84 of Lexington, KY formerly of Turkey Creek, KY
passed away at her residence in Lexington, Wednesday, February 16, 2011.
She was born December 27, 1926 in Williamson, WV the daughter
of the late Benjamin and Mary McGuire Smith. She was also preceded
in death by her husband, Carl B. Shelton; brothers, Edward and Eugene
Smith and one sister, Hazel Phillips.
Helen retired from B. L. Furniture Company and was a member of
the Forest Hills Baptist Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Patricia Shelton of Lexington, Ky.;
three sons, Stephen (Tanya) Shelton of Lexington, KY, Kenneth (Nikki) Shelton of Naples, Fl.
and Carl David Shelton of Lakeland, Fl; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 19, 2011 at 2 PM in the R. E. Rogers
Funeral Home Chapel with James Justice officiating. Burial will follow in the Smith Cemetery,
Sidney, Ky. with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 1 PM
till time for the Funeral.
The Lord called and our most precious angel, Christlene Chapman
answered his call, Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at the Appalachian
Regional Hospital, South Williamson, Ky. after a lingering illness.
Christlene was born on July 18, 1941 at Kimper, Ky. the daughter of
the late General and Nancy Varney Chapman. Besides her parents she
was also preceded in death by three brothers, James Chapman, Alvin Chapman and Don Chapman; two sisters, Helen Chapman Johnson and Alma Chapman; three sister-n-laws. Rosie Chapman, Golessa Chapman and Leona Chapman; three brother-in-laws, Cecil Johnson, Orville Deskins and Earnest Donathan.
She is survived by sisters, Marie (Herbert) Thornbury and Mildred Deskins both of Canada, KY, and Mable Donathan of Michigan; brothers, Tom (Ruby) Chapman of Canada, KY, Elster Chapman of Ohio, Denver (Betty) Chapman of Ohio, Doug (Sadie) Chapman of Tennessee and Dee (Jennie) Chapman of Indiana and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 20, 2011 at 11 AM at the Big Creek
Primitive Baptist Church, Meathouse Fork, Canada, Ky. with Randal Thornbury, David Allen Thacker and John Jacob officiating. Burial will follow in the Varney Branch Cemetery, Kimper, Ky. with Steve, Tim, Mark, Brandon, Eric and Ryan Thornbury, Shannon, Craig,
Ricky and Larry David Chapman, Shannon Dotson and Josh Cobb all serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be after 6 P.M. Friday and Saturday at Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry, Ky.
Special services both nights at 7 P.M. with Big Creek Primitive Baptist Ministers and Raymond Stanley.
She was loved and will be missed by all that knew her. She spoke of the Lord and angels
often and now she is with them in Heaven. She always had a smile on her face, so we need to
remember the happy times and smile, because she is with the Lord and at peace.
She joined the Primitive Baptist Church at Canada, Ky. in July 1987.
Hassell Leon Runyon, 77 of Delray Beach, FL formerly of Canada, KY passed away Friday
morning, February 18, 2011 at the Pincrest Rehabilitation Hospital Hospice Unit.
He was born May 25, 1933 at Ransom, Ky. the son of the late Earnest Boots and Stella
Smith Runyon. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Dixie Runyon; sisters, Edith
Little, Ernestine Hatfield, Rosalie Martin, Annette Dotson and Birdie Marie Coleman; brothers,
Francis "Bud" Runyon, Orison Runyon, Paul Runyon and Eddie Lee Runyon.
Hassell was a former coal miner and a member of the Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Rena Fay (G.W.) Shannon of Delray Beach, Fl. and
Patricia Mae Shannon of Gastonia, NC; one sister, Patsy Lee (Jim) Bunn of Greensboro, NC;
four sisters, Tom (Eleanor) Runyon of Pikeville, KY, Charles (Pat) Runyon of Thomasville,
NC, Douglas McArthur (Phyllis) Runyon of Ashboro, NC and Danny (Sheila) Runyon of
Varney, Ky.; one grandson, Christopher Douglass (Jennifer) Elliott and three great
grandchildren, Merci, Memphis and Malachi and a host of family and friends.
Graveside services will be held Monday, February 21, 2011 at the Runyon Cemetery,
Canada, Ky. with Danny Runyon officiating and burial will follow with his grandson and
nephews serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held Sunday, February 20, 2011 after 6 PM at the R. E. Rogers Funeral
Home Chapel with special services at 7 PM with Danny Runyon.
Homer T. Blackburn, 79 of Fairdale, KY, formerly of Pike County, KY, died Saturday,
February 19, 2011 at his residence.
He was born January 23, 1932 in Pike County, Ky. the son of the late Mitch and Jennie
Bowe Blackburn. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Paulette McCoy and Estelna
McCoy and two brothers, Elmer Blackburn Sr. and Willard Blackburn.
He proudly served in the United States Army and retired from Griffin Company after 30
years of service as a professional painter. He is a member of the Fairdale Church of God and
has resided in Fairdale for the past 50 years.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Blackburn of Fairdale, Ky.; four sons, Lindell (Pat)
Blackburn of Russellville, KY, Randy (Sherry) Blackburn of Glen St. Mary, Fl., Phillip
(Wanda) Blackburn of Macclenny, Fl. and Darrell (Bonnie) Blackburn of Macclenny, Fl.; five
daughters, Jennifer (Eddie) Huggins of Jacksonville, Fl., Joyce Gaye McCoy of Greenville,
NC., Judith (Johnny) Mullins of Elkhorn City, KY, Mitgelena Wyman of Colorado Springs, Co.
and Denise (Ronald) Summit of Fairdale, Ky.; four brothers, Lawrence (Jean) Blackburn of
Somerset, KY, Douglas (Francis) Blackburn of Florida, Millard Blackburn and Charles (Delfy)

James Daniel "Jim" Hubbard, 66 of Pinsonfork, KY, passed away Tuesday,
February 22, 2011 in the Emergency Room of the Williamson Memorial
Hospital.
He was born January 21, 1945 at Pinsonfork, Ky. the son of the late
William Henry and Elkie Robinette Hubbard. He was also preceded in death
by one brother, David Hubbard and an infant sister, Gladys Hubbard.
Jim was a retired coal miner with Island Creek Coal Corp., member of the
UMWA and a member of the Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his loving wife and best friend of 38 years, Marsha
Justice Hubbard of Pinsonfork, Ky.; two sons, Jim Hubbard and his Fiance'
Cherie Totten and Josh Hubbard both of Pinsonfork, Ky; two daughters, Jamie Hubbard (Jeff)
May of London, Ky. and Darla Willis of Columbus, Ohio; two brothers, Sam (Kandie) Hubbard

Fred Thomas Curry, 73 of Hatfield, KY passed away Thursday, February 24, 2011 in the
Charleston Area Medical Center, Charleston, WV.
He was born January 20, 1938 at Hatfield, Ky. the son of the late Tolby and Minnie Goff
Curry. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Carl, Jim and Bob Curry
and a grandson, Ryan Alexander Curry.
He was a retired school bus driver for the Pike County Board of Education and a member of
the Bells of Joy United Baptist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife, Glenna Goff Curry of Hatfield, Ky, ; two sons, Randy
(Donna) Curry of Myrtle Beach, SC and Jeff (Tammy) Curry of Ormond Beach, Fl.; two
brothers, Joe (Millie) Curry of Emmett, Mi. and Tolby Jr. (Carol) Curry of Port Huron, Fl.; five
sisters, Sharon (Monroe Jr.) Justice of Canada, KY, Alice (Layton) Pinson of Hatfield, KY,

Boger McCoy 84, of Princeton, NC formerly of Burnwell, KY passed away Friday February
25, 2011 at SECU Hospice Center in Smithville, NC. He was born April 24, 1926 at Burnwell,
KY to the late Robert "Bob" and Mary Charles McCoy. He is also preceded in death by his
wife; Edna "Lillie" McCoy, two brothers; Robert McCoy Sr. and Homer McCoy and two
sisters; Beatrice Elkins and Mary Scott. He was a retired coal miner and a member of the
Leckieville Freewill Baptist Church.
He is survived by two daughters; Teresa (Junior) McCoy of Princeton, NC and Marie (Mike)
Jethro of Clayton, NC one brother; Paul McCoy of Michigan, three grandchildren; Brandon
McCoy, Jeannie Noble and Warren Robertson and a host of loving family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM Sunday February 27, 2011 at R. E. Rogers
Funeral Home with Lonnie Francis officiating. Burial will follow at McCoy Cemetery,
Burnwell, Ky with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be after 6 PM
