Keith "Hoppie" Hopkins 38, of Turkey Creek, KY passed away Monday April 11, 2011 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, Ky.
He was born January 15, 1973 in Williamson, WV to Rachel Lynn Phillips Thacker of Forest Hills, Ky. He is preceded in death by his baby brother; Jeremy Grant Hopkins, maternal grandparents; Millard and Mary Ann Phillips, whom he loved with all his being, and a special cousin and friend; William David Phillips. He was construction worker, a member of the Forest Hills Baptist Church and a veteran of the U. S. Navy.
Besides his mother, he is survived by his stepfather; Randy L. Thacker, of Forest Hills, Ky, one son; Jeremy Keith Hopkins, and two daughters; Keila Brooke Hopkins and Autumn Dawn Hopkins, one sister; Amybeth (Jim) Dotson of Lexington, Ky, two nieces - his BFF - Raeanna "Drue" Dotson and Carli Reese Dotson of Lexington, Ky and a host of loving family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Friday April 15, 2011 at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home with Rick Gannon of the Borderland Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain View Memory Gardens at Huddy, Ky with Irv Dotson Jr., Timmy Adkins, Stephen Phillips, Chad DeGeorge, Andy Varney and Jackie Francis serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer is Stan Smith. Belfry Chapter #141 will conduct graveside military service. Visitation will be after 6 PM Thursday night at the funeral home.

Burl Carson "Tiddle" Rose, 40, of Hardy, KY passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at his residence.
He was born March 3, 1971 in Detroit, MI to Kathy Scott Rose of Hardy, Ky and the late Gary Rose. He is also preceded by his grandparents; Burl and Nellie Scott and mother-in-law; Shirley Conley. He was a coal miner and a member of the New Beginning Church of God.
Besides his Mother, he is survived by his wife, Lou Wanna Bernice Conley Rose of Hardy; two sons, Christopher Rose and Corey Rose both of the Home; father and mother-in-law: David and Mattie Conley of McAndrews, Ky. and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 1 PM in the R. E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with John Victor McCoy officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy, Ky. with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held after 6 PM Thursday and Friday at the R. E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with special singing Thursday night at 7 PM and special services Friday night at 7 PM with John Victor McCoy.

Kenneth Darrell Elkins, 53, of Hatfield, KY passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2011 in the Emergency Room of the Appalachian Regional Hospital, South Williamson, Ky.
He was born April 17, 1957 in Pike County, Ky. the son of Georgia A. Lowe Elkins of Hatfield, Ky. and the late Robert Elkins.
Kenneth was a heavy equipment operator for Halfway Branch Surface Mine and a faithfull member of the Pilgrim Home Old Regular Baptist Church.
Other survivors include his loving wife, Mildred Ann Robinette Elkins of Hatfield; sons, Robert Seth Elkins of Lexington, Ky. and Joseph Bevins of Blaine, Ky.; daughter, Candace Bevins of Lexington, Ky.; brothers, Bobby Eugene Elkins and Donald Elkins both of Hatfield, Ky.; sister, Phyllis Elkins of Hatfield, Ky.; two grandchildren, Kelsey Bevins and Adam Fields and a host of loving family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 11 AM at the Pilgrim Home Old Regular Baptist Church with Old Regular Baptist Ministers officiating. Burial will follow in the Elkins Cemetery, Hatfield, Ky. with Family and Friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held after 6 PM Thursday and Friday at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with special services both nights at 7 PM.

Luther Fields, 87 of Hardy, KY passed away Thursday, April 14, 2011 at his residence.
He was born February 27, 1924 in Martin County, Ky. the son of the late Lewis and Maudie Short Fields. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Dotson Fields; one daughter, Deloris Fields; granddaughter, Kathy Nicole Goad and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include two sons, Paul (Betty) Fields of Williamson, WV and Luther (Lori) Fields II of Hardy, Ky.; three daughters, Pauline (Frank) Collins of Red Jacket, WV, Kathy (Phillip) Goad of West Madison, WV and Rachel (John) Charles of Matewan, WV; step son, William W. Dotson of Red Jacket, WV; brother, Caudil Fields of Norfolk, Va. and Edith Endicott of Pritchard, WV; sister-in-law, Sue Fields of Newtown, WV; 16 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
There will be no services or visitation.

Earl Edward Johnson, 64, of Williamson, WV passed away Sunday, April 17, 2011 at his home after a lingering illness.
He was born September 16, 1946 at Logan, WV the son of the late Elmer and Octavie Canterbury Johnson. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Grayson Johnson.
He was disabled all his life and of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include two brothers, Everett Elmer Johnson of Williamson, WV and William Boyd (Hoppy) Johnson of Chattaroy, WV and his cousin and caregiver, whom he lived with Cathy Pennington of Chattaroy, WV.
There will no services. He will be cremated per his request.

Clayton Elbert Dempsey, 74, of Turkey Creek, KY passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at the Pikeville Medical Center.
He was born March 20, 1937 at Turkey Creek, Ky. the son of the late Elbert and Hannah Sartin Dempsey. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Dollie Taylor, Bonnie Henthorne and Maggie Hardin and one brother, Melvin Dempsey.
He was a retired mechanic, a member of the National Guard and a member of the Turkey Creek Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his loving wife, Loretta Blackburn Dempsey of Turkey Creek, Ky.; one daughter, Deborah Ann (Randy) Fields of Turkey Creek, Ky.; three grandchildren, Paula Robinson, Lisa Fields and Larry Fields; one great grandchild, Derek Robinson; Papaw's two boys; Greg and Eric Swafford of Turkey Creek, Ky. and a host of loving family, friends and his Church family.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, April 21, 2011 in the R. E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mike Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Dempsey-Horner Family Cemetery, Turkey Creek, Ky. with Harold Blackburn, Jimmy Blackburn, Steve Blackburn, Bill Blackburn, Don Taylor, Berkley Hardin and Tony Swafford serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Paul Fraley, Paul Smith, Buddy Taylor and Brian Hardin.
Visitation will be held after 6 PM Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with special services at 7 PM with Brother Jimmy Stanley.

Reverend Michael Kohari, 80, of Forest Hills, KY left his earthly home Friday, April 22, and was met by his heavenly Father with open arms saying "Child, child enter now into the courts of heaven.
You have been faithful over a few things. I will make you ruler over many things."
He passed away with the love of his family who were so dear to him.
He was born September 30, 1930, to Hungarian immigrants Andy Kohari and Elizabeth Dudash Kohari in Caretta, West Virginia.
Mike would often say "I don't question the Lord in regard to my life; I trust him with my life. When I committed my life to Christ, I became His child. God takes care of His own.”
In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by brothers, Steve Kohari, Rev. Andy Kohari, Jim P. Kohari, John Kohari, Frank Kohari and sisters, Mattie "Mary" Hedrick, Julia Kohari Gonda, Elizabeth Kohari Wilson and Jo Anne Kohari Sweeney.
Mike was retired from Appalachian Power Company, a Minister, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Forest Hills.
He is survived by the jewel of his life, his wife, Jewell Kohari; daughter Brenda (David) Pacific who loved him dearly; son, Michael Kohari, Jr., wife Susan; grandchildren Kristin (Daniel) Jenkins and Bradley (Summer) Kohari one precious great-granddaughter Sara Elizabeth Jenkins and one brother, Joey (Margaret) Kohari of Chattaroy, WV. He had a grandpuppy, Angel, who was so special to him.
God called Mike to "Follow me and I will make you fishers of men." And he loved to fish and became one of God's best fishermen.
Mike's friends and family and church family meant more and more to him. Now he can rest at the feet of Jesus forever more.
The funeral is Monday, April 25, at 1 PM at the First Baptist Church of Forest Hills. Officiating will be Scottie Sumner, Thurmon Coleman and Steve Mickey. Burial will follow in the Smith Cemetery, Sidney, Ky. with Mark Kohari, Timmy Kohari, Darryl Kohari, Barry Kohari, Chris Kohari, David Wilson and Billy Hedrick. Honorary pallbearers are Rodney, Varney, Roger Varney, Mike Kline, Moses Pinson, Okey Porter and Claude Smith. Visitation will be held after 5 PM Sunday, April 24 at the First Baptist Church of Forest Hills.

Charles West, 82, of South Williamson, KY, died Tuesday, April 26, 2011 in the Appalachian Regional Hospital, South Williamson, Ky.
Born June 20, 1928 at Canada, Ky, a son of the late Earl D. and Bertha (Chapman) West.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, one brother, Walter West and one niece, Rita Tyson.
Charles was a Bus Driver, having at one time driving for the Scott Nichols Bus Company and for a Bus Company in Huntington, West Virginia. He attended the Old Regular Baptist Church and he served his country with the United States Army during the Korean War.
He is survived by one sister, Lola Charles of Goody, Kentucky, one niece; Freda Charles of Hurricane, WV, six great nieces and nephews; Shannon Gay, Crystal Slone, Donovan Slone, Freddy Goins, Sheila Henry, Angelia Tyson and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 PM Friday April 29, 2011 at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home with Old Regular Baptist Ministers officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain View Memory Gardens at Huddy, Ky. with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be after 6 PM Thursday night at the funeral home with singing at 7 PM.
