Frances Mae Edwards, 78, of McCarr, KY passed away Monday, May 23, 2011 at the Pikeville Medical Center.
She was born March 1, 1933 at Varney, WV the daughter of the late Pearlie and Clara Marie Willis Edwards. She was also preceded in death by two great grandchildren and several brothers and sisters.
She was a sales representative for Ibos Dress Shop, Matewan, WV and a member of the United Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Wayne Edwards, Jr. of McCarr, Ky.; children, Linda (James) Staggs of Louisa, KY, Brenda (Walter) Barker of Red Jacket, WV, Judy (Chuck) Hilbert of Sevierville, Tn., Roger (Dinah) Edwards of McCarr, KY, Rita Akers of McCarr, Ky.
and Ronnie (Tina) Edwards of McCarr, Ky.; thirteen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; caretaker, Myrtle Slone Hager of McCarr, Ky. and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Friday, May 27, 2011 in the R. E. Rogers Funeral Home with Roger Blackburn officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy, Ky with grandsons serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held after 6 PM on Wednesday and Thursday at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home.
Millard Clay (Mitty) Thornhill, 62, of Hatfield, KY, died Thursday May 19, 2011 at his residence.
Born December 29, 1948 in Mingo County, West Virginia, he was son of the late Clyde and Anna Mae (Roberts) Thornhill. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Nathan Roy and Kenneth Ray Thornhill.
He was a Mechanic and of the Baptist Faith.
He is survived by one son, James Curtis (Rocky) Thornhill of Matewan, West Virginia; one brother, Charles Edward Thornhill of Cincinnati, Ohio; one sister, Norma Lea (Robert) McCoy of Man, West Virginia; Nieces, Tammy (Darrell) Manns of Charleston, West Virginia, Robin Dunn of Dayton, Ohio and Doris Ann Thornhill Codling of Cincinnati, Ohio; Nephew, Mark Wayne Taylor of Cincinnati, Ohio and a host of other family and friends.
Memorial Services will be held 1 P.M. Saturday, May 29, 2011 at the Rogers Funeral Home Chapel . Friends and Family may visit from 12 noon till 1 P.M.
James Gary "Hank or Bocephus" Hager, 50 of Ragland, WV passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at the Pikeville Medical Center.
He was born May 24, 1961 at South Williamson, Ky. the son of Josephine Fields Hager of McCarr, Ky. and the late James H. Hager. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert H. Hager and his Mother-in-law, Edna Slone.
He was a disabled coal miner and a member of the Church of God.
Besides his Mother, he is survived by a son, James Gary Hager Jr. of Belfry, Ky.; a daughter, Kashina Hager of McCarr, Ky.; a brother, Brian Hager (Carrie) of Ransom, Ky.; five sisters, Helen M. (Darrell) Baker of McCarr, KY, Sandra (Robert) Gooslin of Red Jacket, WV, Cassandra Hager of Ransom, KY, Patsy (Ervin) Workman of Belfry, KY, Laura Hager of McCarr, Ky. and Lisa (Rodger) Workman of Hardy, Ky.; six grandchildren, Brooklyn Paige Hager, Rhiannon Hager, Katelyn Hager, Harold Hager, Destiny Childress and Megan Hager and the Mother of his children, Myrtle Slone Hager of McCarr, Ky.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Friday, May 27, 2011 in the R. E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Bostic officiating. Burial will follow in the Jake Hager Cemetery, Ransom, Ky. with James Hager, Darrell Baker, Robert Gooslin II, Elmer Prater, Jackie Shepard and other family members.

Fred Forrest Williams, 68, of Ransom, KY, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2011 at the Pikeville Medical Center.
He was born September 12, 1942 in Pike County, Ky. the son of the late Fred and Ruby Fern Blackburn Williams.
Fred was a retired coal miner having been a truck driver for Kirk Trucking. He was a veteran of the US Army and a member of the Belfry Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Jean M. Williams of Ransom, Ky.; children, Freddie (Robin) Williams and Rodney (Rhonda) Williams all of McAndrews, KY, Michelle (Rodney) Nunley of Chattaroy, WV, Gina (Jonah) Hatfield of Blackberry, Ky. and Michale Sean Williams of Charleston, WV; sisters, Phyllis (Larry) Stanley of Fincastle, Va., Barbara (Roger) Blackburn, Gloria (Paul) Sedmack and June (Charles) Leedy all of McAndrews, KY, Betty Bishop of Madison, Al. and Judy (James) Ramey of Tampa, Fl.; grandchildren, Kristyn Williams, Michale Ray, Kamron Williams, Jonah Hatfield, Ethan Williams, Josh Hatfield, Hailei Nunley, Mica Williams, Gia Hatfield, Joseph Hatfield and Elijah Williams; great grandchild, Maleah and a host of other family and friends.

Charles Curtis "Cornshuck" Smith, 81, of Sidney, KY, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 29, 2011 at 4:58 PM. According to his wishes, he died at his home on Dix Fork surrounded by his loving family.
He was born September 23, 1929 in Pike County, KY, the son of the late Omer and Fanny May Smith. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 45 years, Minnie Lucille Pinson Smith, two sisters and one brother.
He is survived by his three children; Bonnie (Dennis) Blackburn of Sidney, KY, Charles (Susan) Smith of Georgetown, Ky. and Tammie (Randall) West of Canada, Ky.; four grandchildren; Suzanne (Justin) Zumwalt of Georgetown, KY, Amber (Matt) Goble of Prestonsburg, KY, Jessica Smith of Georgetown, Ky. and Jacob (Miranda) West of Canada, Ky.; two great grandchildren, Taylor and Brody Zumwalt of Georgetown, Ky.; two brothers, Onis Smith of Canada, Ky. and Herbert Smith of Ypsilanti, Mi.; two sisters, Fonnie Kincaid and Mary Jane Smith both of Raceland, Ky.; Special friends who aided the family in his care were Lacy Walters, Daniel Stanley, Steve Mullins, Walter Bogar and his brother, Onis Smith. Special niece, Vicki Hatfield provided nursing care on the day of his death.
He was a faithful member of the Dix Fork Old Regular Baptist Church for 46 years, having joined with their congregation in July 1963. He was a retired coal miner and also an avid hunter, gardener and outdoorsman prior to the decline of his health.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at the Dix Fork Old Regular Baptist Church with his dear friend, Lacy Walters officiating. Other ministers will include David Crigger, Edward Lee Smith and Ivan Neal Thornsbury. Burial will follow in the Varney Cemetery, Dix Fork with Steve Mullins, Walter Bogar, Bruce Williamson, Tony Williamson, Ron Gannon, Wayne Blackburn, Daniel Stanley and Charles Edwards serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held after 6 PM Monday and Tuesday at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home with special services both nights at 7 PM with ministers of the Dix Fork Old Regular Baptist Church officiating.
Kelly Marie Caraway, 22, of Williamson, WV passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at UK Medical Center in Lexington, Ky following a lifelong battle with cystic fibrosis.
She was born on August 23, 1988 at Logan, WV to Ralph Caraway and Myrtle Thompson Caraway.
Kelly is preceded in death by a sister, Jessica Juanita Caraway, maternal grandparents, John and Zola Thompson, paternal grandparents, Roy and Juanita Caraway and cousins, William Henry Blankenship and Sydney Dudley.
In addition to her parents, Kelly is survived by a sister, Ellen (Richie) O'Brien, nephew, Seth O'Brien, niece, Jessa O'Brien, fiancee, Jeremiah 'Jay' Walls, Step mother Barbara Caraway, Aunts: Janice Canterbury, Sandra Blankenship, Mary Thompson, Martha Thompson, Ethel (Chester) White, Grace Thompson, Clara (Troy) Bevins, Zella (Leslie) Hall, Wanda (Jeff) Mayer, Joyce (Shawn) Haubrich, Geraldine (Mike) Roberts and Kay Caraway. Funeral services will be on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at 1:00 pm in the afternoon with Delbert Mccoy, John Victor Mccoy and Rex Sammons officiating. Burial will follow at the Thompson Moore Cemetery, Burnwell, Ky.
Pallbearers will be John Thompson, Shawn Haubrich, Eric McCoy, Travis Runyon, Ricky Runyon, Terry Hall and Richard Mullins. Honorary pallbearers will be Leslie Hall, Mike Helvey, and Jay Walls.
Patricia Ann Stepp Spears, 47, of McVeigh, KY passed away Saturday, June 4, 2011 at her residence.
She was born January 7, 1964 at Williamson, WV the daughter of the late Carles Bob Stepp and Rebecca Ann York. She was also preceded in death by her step mother, Christine Stepp, two sisters, Bonnie Whitmire and Bertha Hampton and one brother, Jerry Hampton.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Octavia Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include her loving husband, Ronald Edward Spears of McVeigh, Ky.; children, Rebecca Anderson of the home, Leslie Anderson of Johns Creek, Ky. and Robert Frederick Anderson of Cincinnati, Ohio; granddaughter she was raising, Haley Elizabeth Anderson of the home; one brother, Robert (Karen) Stepp of Nolan, WV; five other grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Tuesday, June 7, 2011 in the R. E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Jerry O'Brien officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy, Ky. with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
