Cabell D. Francis

STANFORD -- Services for Cabell D. Francis Sr., 75, a longtime Lincoln attorney and politician, will be 2 p.m. Friday at Stanford Christian Church by the Revs. Jim Linn, James C. Baughman and Bernard Meece and Virgil Horseman. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

He died Tuesday at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington after a long battle with cancer.

Born May 9, 1924, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Kelly J. and Margaret Hocker Francis. He was an attorney for 50 years in the Francis and Francis law office and a member and elder emeritus of Stanford Christian Church.

In 1953, at the age of 29, he was elected to the state House of Representatives and served one term. He became state senator in 1957 and was majority caucus chairman in the 1960 legislative session.

He also had served as city attorney in Stanford and Hustonville.

He was honored at the state bar association for 50 years of practice during its convention in 1999.

He was a graduate of Stanford High School and University of Kentucky and was a Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Carroll Francis; a son, Cabell D. Francis II of Stanford; two daughters, Alissa Francis Horseman of Stanford and Margaret Francis Seifert of Hanover, Ind.; a sister, Jesse Francis Hay of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah H. Francis.

Pallbearers will be Cabell David Francis, David Horseman Jr., Kelly Horseman, Michael Settles, William Burckart and Fredrick Gage. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Lincoln County Bar Association, Stanford Christian Church Board, and Edith Cox.

Visitation is 4-9 p.m. today and noon-2 p.m. Friday at the church.

Memorials may go to Heritage Hospice or Stanford Christian Church Youth Scholarship Program.

Clara M. Davis

Services for Clara Marie Davis, 68, of Cotton Avenue, Stanford, will be 2 p.m. Friday at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home by Johnny Montgomery. Burial will be in Junction City Cemetery.

She died Wednesday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born June 27, 1931, in Hawthorne Va., she was a daughter of the late Willie L. and Rosie M. Dingus Phillips. She was a homemaker, a member of the Church of God and widow of Robert L. Davis Sr.

Survivors include six sons, Randy Davis and Danny Davis, both of Junction City, Bill Davis of Kings Mountain, Ronnie Davis of Stanford, Robert L. Davis Jr. of Salvisa and Tony Pennicuff of Lebanon; two daughters, Betty and Rebecca Davis, both of Junction City; a brother, Elmer Phillips of Norton, Va.; a sister, Carrie Roberts of Cleveland, Ohio; 17 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Marion Rousey, Floyd Hillard, David Peavyhouse, Robert Martin, Bobby Gooch and Ronnie Davis II.

Honorary pallbearers are Jonathan Bowen, J.R. Marlowe, David League, Gary Hart, Anthony Hillard and Charles Lewis.

Visitation is 4-9 p.m. today.

Memorials may go to American Diabetes Association.

Wilmoth P. Hawkins

CRAB ORCHARD -- Services for Wilmoth M. Ping Hawkins, 68, of Ky. 328 will be 1 p.m. Friday at Liberty Baptist Church. Burial will be in church cemetery.

She died Tuesday at her home.

Pallbearers will be Terri Gibbons, Tracey Bullock, Ron Harness, Eli and Kelly Harness and Tabitha and Corey Hawkins.

Visitation is after 6 p.m. today at McKnight-Martin Funeral Home and after 11 a.m. Friday at the church.

Memorials may go to Gideons International or Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.

Clay Higgins, 93, of Charleston Health Care Center died Monday after a long illness.

Survivors include a niece, Mattie Elliott of Danville; and a nephew, Ozenia Hawkins of Goldsboro, N.C.

Dorothy Bowling

STANFORD -- Dorothy Faye Bowling, 71, of Louisville died Sunday at Northern Surburban Hospital in Louisville.

Born Oct. 15, 1928, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late John William and Alva Ledford Bowling. She was an information and referrals counselor with Community Coordinated Child Care.

A graduate of Crab Orchard High School and Sue Bennett College, she belonged to Preston Highway United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Lisa Bowling of Louisville; a brother, Jessie Bowling of Versailles; and a sister, Edith Bowling Hoskins of Stanford.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Buffalo Springs Cemetery by Scott Milby. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Preston Highway United Methodist Church in Louisville.

Memorials may go to Preston Highway United Methodist Church building fund, 5114 Preston Hwy., Louisville 40213 or Community Coordinated Child Care in Louisville.

Donald Padgett

STANFORD -- Donald Padgett of Ky. 1247, Waynesburg, died today at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.

He was a retired Lincoln County teacher and husband of Phyllis Padgett. Arrangements are incomplete at Fox Funeral Home.

Stanley Pingleton

BEREA -- Stanley Pingleton, 69, of Berea died Saturday at his residence.

Born Aug. 20, 1930, in Garrard County, he was a son of the late Jessie and Ruby E. Harris Pingleton.

He was a lifelong resident of the Berea-Garrard County area and was a member of Valley Baptist Church where he had been a Sunday school teacher and song leader.

He was a retired sawmill operator and the husband of Lucy Helton Pingleton.

Survivors also include a son, J.L. Pingleton of Liberty; a daughter, Connie Pingleton of Berea; four brothers, Floyd Pingleton of Lancaster, Silas Pingleton of Sand Gap, and James and Sidney Pingleton, both of Berea; five sisters, Grace Taylor of Danville, Irene Huff Burke of Mount Vernon, Rina Chandler of Crab Orchard, and Mary Rains and Marie Banks, both of Winchester; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services were held today at Valley Baptist Church by David Sargent and Wayne Henson. Burial was in Wilmot Cemetery on Copper Creek.

Active pallbearers were Gary Pingleton, Douglas Helton, Jer-ry Pingleton, Chester Broughton Jr., Perry Pingleton and Junior Carpenter.

Honorary pallbearers were Phillip Leger, Bobby Turner, Jack Rains, John Collins Jr., Roger Burke, Harry Helton, Gerald Taylor and Porter Banks.

Williams Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Joseph H. Craig

HARRODSBURG -- Services for Joseph Henry Craig, 81, of Daugherty Lane will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. Mark Payton. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Additional survivors include four stepsons, Bill Lyons of Harrodsurg, Danny Daugherty of Danville, and Junior and Wayne Daugherty of Parksville; six stepdaughters, LuAnn Lyons of Danville, Angela Miller of Berea, Diane McKee of Hustonville, and Dixie Mobley, Janice Watts and Penny Osbourne, all of Harrodsburg; several step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.

Active pallbearers will be George and Stanley Craig, Junior Daugherty, Kenny Osborne, Allen Vineyard and Keith Grubbs. Honorary pallbearers are Ed Waits, Danny Daugherty, David Montgomery, Joe Miles and Van Woodrow.

He died Saturday at Harrodsburg Health Care Center.

Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today.

Bonnie Foster

LIBERTY -- Services for Bonnie Mae Foster, 87, of Bethelridge will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. P.L. Clem. Burial will be in Bethelridge Cemetery.

She died Sunday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born Nov. 20, 1912, in Bethelridge, she was a daughter of the late Mack Dow and Mary Katherine Drostie Watson.

She was a homemaker, a member of Bethelridge United Methodist Church, and widow of James Buel Foster.

Survivors include four sons, Gerald Ray Foster of Greenwood, Ind., William Buel Foster of Edinburg, Ind., and Bobbie Glen Foster and Lewis Clay Foster, both of Bethelridge; a daughter, Nila Dean Durham of Yosemite; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and six step great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Michael, Allen, Roger, Scott, Randy and Jeff Foster. Honorary pallbearer is Kristie Durham.

Visitation is after 5 p.m. today.

Kenneth M. Hourigan

HARRODSBURG -- Services for Kenneth Mason Hourigan, 87, of Shakertown Road, a former Mercer County sheriff, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral home by the Rev. Kenneth Whitehouse.

Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

He died Saturday at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.

Pallbearers will be Billy Joe Hill, James Tewmey, Phillip Hockensmith, J.S. "Bugs" Kinder, David Sims, Lee Allen and F.O. Ritchey.
