Matlene Hall
Matlene B. Hall, 80, of Robinson Creek Road, Virgie, died Monday, Sept. 26, 2011, at her home.
She was born in Esco, June 22, 1931, the daughter of the late Orville Bartley and Mahaley Bartley.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist Church.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Varnel Bartley and Charlie Bartley; and one sister, Christlene Ratliff.
She is survived by her husband, Billy James Hall; one son, Ronnie Hall of Robinson Creek; one daughter, Garnet Ann Maher of Tucson, Ariz.; two grandchildren, Jessica Hall and Jami Hall; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, in the Roberts Funeral Home Chapel with Floyd Compton, Dewey Roberts, Jerry Damron, Teddy Honaker, Kermit Wright and Roger Hicks officiating. Burial followed in the Amos Newsome Cemetery. Arrangements were under direction of Roberts Funeral Home of Robinson Creek.
Katrina Moore
Katrina Rashael Moore, 25, of Hi Hat, died Monday, Sept. 26, 2011, at Cabell-Huntington Hospital, Huntington, W.Va.
She was born in Pikeville, Oct. 29, 1985, the daughter of Elizabeth Crawford and the late Timothy Wayne Isaacs.
She was a student at Big Sandy Community and Technical College.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her grandmother, Julia Childers Isaacs; and her great-grandfather, Robert Stanley.
Besides her mother, she is survived by her husband, Charles Moore; two children, Kadin Janet Moore and Timothy James Daniel Moore, both of Hi Hat; one brother, Timothy Daniel Isaacs of Hi Hat; her grandparents, Daniel and Janet Stanley Crawford of Hi Hat; and her great-grandmother, Dorthula Hall Stanley of Bevinsville.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 30, in the Samaria Old Regular Baptist Church, Teaberry, with Old Regular Baptist ministers officiating. Burial will follow in the James Newman Cemetery, Hi Hat. Arrangements are under direction of Nelson Frazier Funeral Home of Martin.
Dewey Belcher
Dewey Alenn Belcher, 65, of Elkhorn City, died Wednesday September 28, 2011, at the VA Medical Center in Lexington.
He was born February 16,1946, the son of the late Algie Fonso Belcher and Ruby Mae McCoy Belcher.
He was a self employed contractor and a Church member.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby Joyce Smith Belcher; one son, Dewey Allen
Belcher of Deltona, Fla; one daughter, Melissa Dawn Belcher of Deltona Fla; one brother, Fonso Belcher Jr. of Elkhorn City; two sisters, Brenda Bowen of
Clay City and Teressa Hobbs of St. Louis; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m Sunday with Billy Ford officiating at the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel, Elkhorn City. Burial will follow at the Wilson Cemetery, Draffin.
Visitation will begin 6 p.m. at Bailey Funeral Home, Elkhorn City,

Jimmy Little
Jimmy A. Little, 63, of Robinson Lane of Caney Creek died Friday, September 30, 2011, at the Pikeville Medical Center.

Rush Scott
Rush J. Scott, 75,of Pikeville, died Friday, September 30, 2011, at Pikeville Medical Center.
He was born July, 18, 1935, in Pikeville, the son of the late Arthur and Ruth Cochran Scott.
He was a master plumber and building contractor. He worked for Scott’s Cabinet Center. He was a Kentucky Colonel, previous president of Kentucky Home Builders, and member of Stone Coal Church of Christ
Besides his parents he is prededed in death by his wife, Ruth Cochran Scott.
He is survived by his two sisters, Mavis Linde Mann of Pikeville and Eleanor Carbary of Overpeak; one brother Bill Scott (Matilda) of Pikeville.
Pallbrearers will be Shawn Cochran, Will Stepp, Glenn Mullins, Willie Carter, Dean Scott, Billy Jack Scott, and Jacob Bartley
Honorary Pallbearers will be Liz Tackett, Karen Mitchell, Rita Hamilton, Freda Hamilton, Loretta Patrick, Brenda Newsom, Rhonda Nelson, and Sharon Charles.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m Monday at Lucas and Son Funeral Home with Randal Parsons and Philip Keathley officiating. Burial will follow at Annie E. Young cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Lucas and Son Funeral Home.

Shirley J. Taylor, 66, of Marion, formerly of Ransom, died Thursday, September 29, 2011, at the Community Healthcare Center in Marion.
She was born September 22, 1945, in Pike County.
She was the daughter of the late Ervil and Grethel Hatfield Taylor.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Tommy and Tilden Taylor; and one sister June Dutton
Funeral services will be held at p.m Tuesday October 4, 2011, in the Hatfield Funeral Chapel, Toler with Elder Mike Smith officiating.
Visitation will start at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Betty Ball
Betty Griffith Ball, 83, of KY 194E, died Monday, Oct. 3, 2011, at Pikeville Medical Center.
She was born at Nigh, July 16, 1928, the daughter of the late Trigg Griffith and Savannah Hunt Griffith.
She was a clerk at Hoffer’s Grocery and a member of the Biggs Church of God.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Ball; three sisters, Genevieve Hensley, Attie Lee Hoffer and Genetta Davidson; and one granddaughter, Heather Suzanne Taylor.
She is survived by three daughters, Patty Ball Griffith, Sandra Ball Hurley and Susan Ball Hurley; one brother, Billy Griffith; one sister, Jettie Lee Hunt; three grandchildren, Jennifer McCormick, Tara Griffith and Jody Phillips; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at noon Thursday, Oct. 6, in the Lucas & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Robert Coleman, David Kilburn and Larry Abshire officiating. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery, Chloe Road. Arrangements are under direction of Lucas & Son Funeral Home of Pikeville.
Special services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Billy Belcher
Billy Ray “Bill” Belcher, 77, of Winchester, died Friday, Sept. 30, 2011, at his home, after an illness of several months. He is now joyfully joining his son in their heavenly home.
A native of Pike County for 63 years, he was born Nov. 12, 1933, to the late Corbet and Lucy Cantrell Belcher.
He was retired from sales and later the coal business, and was a member of Central Baptist Church.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Joey Belcher; his stepmother, Ilo Belcher; and a loving and very special aunt, Pebble Belcher.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Patty R. Belcher; one son, Craig Belcher (Shelvy); one sister, Donna Taylor (Dickey); one niece, Kristi May (Dan); two nephews, Matt Good and Mark Good (Lisa); four great-nieces and nephews; and one very special sister-in-law, Leah Good (Ralph).
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, in the Rolan G. Taylor Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Art Beasley and Dr. Glenn Mollette officiating. Arrangements were under direction of Rolan G. Taylor Funeral Home, 289 S. Main St., Winchester.
Pallbearers were members of the Blakeman Sunday School Class (CBC).

He was born in Pike County, Feb. 15, 1946, the son of the late Algie Fonso Belcher and Ruby Mae McCoy Belcher.
He was a self-employed contractor.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby Joyce Smith Belcher; one son, Dewey Allen Belcher II of Pikeville; one daughter, Melissa Dawn Belcher of Deltona, Fla.; one brother, Fonso Belcher Jr. of Elkhorn City; two sisters, Brenda Bowen of Clay City and Teresa Hobbs of St. Louis; and four grandchildren.

Gregory Paul Blackburn, 53, of Sevierville, Tenn., formerly of Myra, died Monday, Oct. 3, 2011, at his home.

Lou Ellen Bunn
Lou Ellen Bunn, 78, of Canada, died Monday, Oct. 3, 2011, at the South Williamson Appalachian Regional Hospital.
She was born at Stone, Jan. 18, 1933, the daughter of the late Robert and Fannie (Stanley) Coleman.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Bells of Joy United Baptist Church.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Thomas Bunn; one daughter, Nancy Ruth Bunn; two brothers, Henry Smith and Phillip Stanley; and one sister, Mary Jane Stanley.
She is survived by three sons, William Thomas Bunn, Steven Michael Bunn and Charles Edward Bunn, all of Baltimore, Md.; two daughters, Gloria Jean Reed of Radcliffe and Mary Elizabeth Stanley of Canada; two sisters, Diana Rogers of Russell Springs and Betty Varney of North Carolina; 13 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, in the R.E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Dennis Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy. Arrangements are under direction of R.E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry.
