James Oakley "J.O." Travis, 87, of Marion, passed away Oct. 12, 1999 at City Care Nursing Home in Eldorado, Ill.
Travis' funeral will be held Oct. 15 at Gilbert Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Sugar Grove Cemetery.
Survivors include three sons, J.T. Travis, Carlos Travis and James Oakley "Butch" Travis Jr., all of Marion; two daughters, Judi Smith of Marion and Ruth Crowell of Bradenton, Fla.; a brother, Fred Travis of Marion; two sisters, Brinnie Travis of Marion and Vernie Asher of Benton; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Travis was preceded in death by his wife, Loamie Travis; two daughters, Ina Marie and Juanita Travis; and a son, Roger Travis.
Orendoff
Marion Thomas Orendoff, 55, of Marion passed away Oct. 9, 1999 at his home.
Orendoff is survived by three sons, Michael Orendoff and Thomas Lee Easley, both of Marion and Thomas John Orendoff of Jacksonville, Fla.; two daughters, Sandra Orendoff of Houston, Texas and Norma Jean Harris of Tampa, Fla.; four sisters, Bonnie Turner of Marion, Annetta Guess of Paducah, Madaline Blythe and Linda Carlton, both of Evansville, Ind.; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Clara Damron Orendoff.
Services were held Oct. 12 at Boyd Funeral Chapel with Rev. Robert Phillips officiating. Burial was in White's Chapel Cemetery.
Brooker
Mattie Leon Owen Booker, 91, widow of Elmer George Brooker, passed away Oct. 8, 1999 in Cape Coral, Fla. Visitation and interment were in Lexington, arranged by Kerr Brothers Funeral Home.
Brooker is survived by a daughter, Patsy Brooker Boyd, of Cape Coral.
Duvall
Frank Duvall, 83, of Marion passed away Oct. 2, 1999 at his home.
He was a deacon at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church for 55 years.
Duvall is survived by his wife of 63 years, Cleo Duvall of Marion; five sons, Charles Duvall of Marion, Robert Duvall of Longview, Texas, Doug Duvall of Madisonville and Steve Duvall and Larry Duvall, both of Portage, Ind.; two daughters, Brenda Hodges of Gilbertsville and Jan Duvall of Lombard, Ill.; two sisters, Ruby Lee Boswell of Portage and Thelma Lynn Asbridge of Valparaiso, Ind.; two brothers, Eugene Duvall and Calvin Duvall, both of Marion; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services were held Oct. 4 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. John Ray Baker officiating. Burial was in Mexico Cemetery.
Padgett
Services for Nellie Opal Padgett, 81, of Marion were held Oct. 5 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Phillips officiating. Burial was in Rosebud Cemetery.
Padgett passed away Oct. 3, 1999 at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.
She was a member of Sullivan Baptist Church.
She is survived by a son, Bobby Padgett of Marion; two sisters, Dorothy Tate of Owensboro and Lucille Newcome of Virginia; a brother, Courtney "Dude" Walker of Marion; and two grandchildren, Michael Padgett of Knoxville, Tenn. and Shannon Padgett of St. Louis, Mo.
Pace
Calvin Kenneth Pace, 72, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., formerly of Marion, passed away Oct. 1, 1999.
Pace was a member of the U.S. Navy Underwater Demolition Team during World War II. Later he joined the U.S. Air Force, where he flew B-52s until his retirement in 1965 as a Major. After retirement, he worked for the Central Intelligence Agency in Southeast Asia, earning the Intelligence Star, the second highest award for bravery, and retired in 1975. Pace then received an accounting degree and worked as an accountant and comptroller.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Pace of Fort Walton Beach; a brother, Harry Pace; a daughter, Suzanne Brewer of Tallahassee, Fla.; a son Morris Roy Pace, II of Tallahassee; and five grandchildren.
Private services were held by the family. Burial will be conducted at a later date in Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Fla.
Meeks
Gerald "Buddy" Meeks, 52, of Princeton passed away Oct. 3, 1999 at Caldwell County Hospital.
He was a Vietnam Army Veteran and was a member of the V.F.W. Post 5595. He was a member of the Baptist faith.
Meeks is survived by his wife Barbara Meeks of Princeton; his parents, Eugene and Mary Meeks of Marion; three daughters, Dana Sorrells of Lyon County, Leslie McGoldrick of Dawson Springs and Kathy Rollins of Lyon County; two brothers, Tommy Meeks of Marion and Dale Meeks of Sturgis; three sisters, Patsy Locke, Faye Binkley and Louise Givens, all of Marion; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two daughters Lisa Dawn Meeks and Paula Faye Meeks.
Services were held Oct. 4 at Morgan's Funeral Home. Burial was in Princeton Memorial Gardens.
Bridwell
Percie Bridwell, 80, of Marion passed away Sept. 23, 1999 at Crittenden Hospital.
Bridwell is survived by a son, Lynn Boyd Bridwell of Springfield, Mo.; four grandchildren, Lindy Bridwell-Cooper of Mayfield, Lane Bridwell of Mayfield, Leann Bridwell of Naperville, Ill., and Emma Bridwell of Springfield, Mo.; and a great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Bridwell.
Services were held Sept. 26 at Boyd Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ken Spurrier officiating.
Burial was in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Brown
W.D. "Brownie" Brown, 75, of Owensboro passed away Sept. 27, 1999 at his home.
Brown was a retired superintendent for Green Coal Company and had owned and operated Livestock Transport Trucking Company. He was a member of Ridgewood Baptist Church. He was a member of the Yellow Banks Good Sam Camping Club, the Boyd-Greenup County Chamber of Commers, an honorary sheriff of Greenup County and an avid sports fan of NASCAR racing and U.K. basketball. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Colleen Brown; two sons, Allen Brown of Owensboro and James Vineyard of Terre Haute, Ind.; two daughters, Jerry Nell McKinney of Marion and Judy Vineyard of Terre Haute; a sister, Dorothy Bowman of Owensboro; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Thursday, Sept. 30 at James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.

Bugg
Dan Bug, 96, of Fredonia passed away Sept. 26, 1999 at his home.
Bugg was a retired farmer, a member of the Fredonia Cumberland Presbyterian Church and served many years as an elder and Sunday school teacher, was a director of the Fredonia Valley Bank for 50 years and served on the Soil Conservation Agency.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Evangeline Bugg of Fredonia; two sons, J.D. Bugg of Fredonia; Bill Bugg of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; a daughter, Joann Martin of New Salisbury, Ind.; three sisters, Maude Beavers and Kathleen Perkins, both of Fredonia, Ruby Baugh of Drakesboro; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Sept. 29 at Morgan's Funeral Home in Princeton with Revs. Bill Pettit and Gary Carlton officiating. Burial was in Fredonia Cemetery.
