Carrie Lee Agent, 66, of Marion, passed away May 31, 2002 at Salem Springlake Care Center.
Funeral services were held June 3 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Dr. Darrell Clarke, Rev. Robert Phillips and Rev. Frank McCallum officiating. Burial was in Whites Chapel Cemetery.
Surviving are her husband, David Agent of Marion; three sons, Wayne Agent, Ray Agent and Robert Kirk all of Marion; two daughters, Mary Helen Swaney of Clarksville, Tenn., and Betty Ann Smith of Marion; two brothers, James Todd and Bill Todd, both of Marion; two sisters, Marie Hunter of Marion and Louise Slaughter of Henderson; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Frank and Mary Todd; and three brothers.
Stone
Wanda Lee Stone, 72, of Marion, passed away May 29, 2002 at Crittenden Hospital. She was a member of Marion Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Willard Stone of Marion; three sons, Mike Stone of Marion, Mark Stone of Clarksville, Tenn., and Danny Stone of Melbourne, Fla.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held May 31 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. David Winders officiating. Burial was in Mapleview Cemetery.
Carter
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah A graveside service for James A. Carter, 87, formerly of of Crittenden and Livingston counties, was held June 1 at Holladay Memorial Gardens in Holladay, Utah. Carter passed away May 30, 2002.
Mr. Carter was employed in fluorspar mining and construction and spent more than 30 years before retirement operating a tree nursery in Holladay and built golf courses in Utah and surrounding states.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Lucele Martin Carter, formerly of Crittenden County; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Shirley; a son, James Robert Carter; a sister Mary Butler; and three brothers, Trice Carter, J.D. Carter and Mack Carter. His parents were Vernon and Florence Alley Carter.
Boone
IRVING, Texas Jean Elizabeth Boone, 80, passed away June 2, 2002. She was a native of Washington state and has relatives in Crittenden County.
She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Boone of Irving; three daughters, Bonnie Gagnon of Cashmere, Wash., Becky Coats of Irving and Betsy Moore of Irving; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Cecil Adams; her mother, Frances Adams Dolfay; and stepfather, Charles Dolfay.
A memorial service will be held June 8 at the Church of Christ in Irving, with burial in Wenatchee, Wash.
Chandler
John W. Chandler, 93, of Marion, passed away June 3, 2002 at Crittenden Hospital. He was a graduate of Marion High School and spent 50 years as a mail carrier, clerk, assistant postmaster and judge of the Crittenden County Court. He was a steward, lay speaker and men's Sunday school teacher in the Marion United Methodist Church for 25 years.
He was a member for 55 years of Bigham Lodge No. 256 F&AM and past Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Kentucky F&AM. He was a member of the Rizpah Shrine Temple in Madisonville, a charter member of Sahab Shrine Temple and charter member of Court No. 189 Royal Order of Jesters both of Sarasota, Fla., and was director of Court No. 189 in 1988.
Chandler lived in Sarasota for several years and later in Nashville.
Surviving are his wife, Ethel Roberts Kelly of Nashville; sister, Vanera Chandler of Marion; two daughters, Carolyn Iborg of Exton, Penn., and Judith Roberts of Manassas, Va.; three grandchildren; two step grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three step great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Elkins Chandler; a brother, Emmett Chandler; and a stepdaughter, Sidney Hooper.
A memorial service, including Masonic Rites, will be held at 2 p.m., June 6 at Marion United Methodist Church with Rev. Wayne Garvey officiating. Burial will be in Mapleview Cemetery. Gilbert Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Brizendine
GREENVILLE, Ky. John Summers Brizendine, 86, passed away June 4, 2002. He attended Greenville Schools, Mcallie Military Academy and Centre College. He was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He entered the U.S. Army Air Force before the war in 1941 and was discharged a Captain. After the war, he joined his brother, Tom, in the wholesale grocery business in Greenville which became one of the largest and most progressive businesses of its kind in Kentucky. The company developed and served IGA Foodliners in most every town in western Kentucky and many stores in middle Tennessee. The brothers sold the business to another IGA wholesaler which later sold it to Super Valu.
Brizendine was the first president of Greenville Junior of Commerce, president of the Kiwanis Club, and a board member for Regional Mental Health, First State Bank, National IGA Enterprises, Local Housing Program, Wetterau, Inc., First Presbyterian Church and many youth organizations.
He is survived by two daughters, Linda Kupisch of Marion and Charlotte Witry of Signal Mountain, Tenn.; a brother, Tom Brizendine; and five grandchildren, Margie Conrad of Denver, Colo., John Conrad of San Diego, Calif., Lee Conrad of Lexington, Allen Witry of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Laura Witry of Washington, D.C.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., June 8 at Gary's Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Bruce
CARRSVILLE, Ky. Roy Doug Bruce, 77, passed away June 3, 2002 at Versnick Health Care Center in Madisonville. He was a musician, playing electric steel guitar for area nursing homes.
He is survived by a brother, Ronald Bruce of Madisonville; a sister, Wilma Grace Rogers of Madisonville; a stepson, Jerry Johnson of Salem; a stepdaughter, Sheri Johnson of Paducah; two step grandchildren; and one great step grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Bruce; a brother, William E. Bruce; and his parents, Roy Chris Bruce and Mary Frances Troop Bruce.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., June 5 at Whites Chapel Cemetery with Bro. Virgil Diel officiating.
Penn
Jewel Marie Penn, 69, of Marion, passed away May 26, 2002 at Livingston Hospital. She was a member of Caldwell Springs Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Orbin Penn of Marion; three daughters, Vera Riley, Nancy Smith and Donna Lester, all of Marion; three sisters, Janie Odom of Marion, Ruth Imes of Kewanee, Ill., and Ann Barnes of Eddyville; four brothers, James Hastings, Bill Hastings and Bud Hastings, all of Eddyville, and Eddie Hastings of Louisville; two stepbrothers, Frank Smith of Kuttawa and Jack Smith of Bethalto, Ill.; two stepsisters, Inez Blaine of Grand Rivers and Lilly Chandler of Kuttawa.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Larry Boone and Morris Boone.
Funeral services were held May 29 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Shoney Oliver officiating. Burial was in Caldwell Springs Cemetery.
Lemon
Regina Lemon, 54, of Marion, passed away May 24, 2002 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington. Graveside services were held May 28 at Mapleview Cemetery with Dr. Darrell Clarke and Sister Lucy Tedrick officiating. Gilbert Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Lemon is survived by her husband, Kenny Lemon, Sr., of Marion; a daughter, Kim Cosby of Marion; a son, Kenny Lemon, Jr., of Marion; five sisters, Katherine Heffington, Mary McGuill and Sarah Logan, all of Sturgis, Betty Walker of Morganfield and Fannie Little of Albuquerque, NM; a brother, John Shofner of Sturgis; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Spurlin and Mary Benson Shofner; three sisters; and a son-in-law.
