Velda Hodges, 78, of Marion passed away Aug. 5, 1999 at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah.
She was a member of Crooked Creek Baptist Church.
Hodges is survived by two sons, Edward Brantley and Kenneth Brantley, both of Marion; a daughter, Charlotte Maness of Marion; a brother, Hollis Hopkins of Scottsville; two sisters, Nancy Rushing of Huntsville, Ala. and Lula Gostley of Evansville, Ind.; and eight grandchildren.
Services were held Aug. 7 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Revs. Robert Phillips and Bud Collins officiating. Burial was in Blackburn Church Cemetery.
Hertzler
Samuel Hertzler, 80, of Marion passed away Aug. 4, 1999 at his home.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Hertzler of Marion; five sons, Albert Hertzler of West Salisbury, Pa., Henry Hertzler of Whitemore, Mich., Paul Hertzler, Enos Hertzler and Ruben Hertzler, all of Marion; four daughters, Saloma Hill of Woodstock, Ontario, Sadie Bontrager of Huntington, Tenn., Ester Detweiler of Mt. Vernon, Mo. and Mirian Beachy of Marion; 63 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
Hertzler was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Yoder; and his parents Samuel and Elizabeth Hertzler.
Services were held Aug. 7 at Byler's Cabinet Shop. Burial was in the Amish Cemetery.
Drum
John Drum, 64, of Salem passed away July 22 at Terre Haute Regional Hospital in Indiana.
Drum is survived by a son, Jefferson Drum of Salem; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
Yates
Hazel Yates, 84, of Marion passed away Aug. 8, 1999 at Salem Springlake Care Center.
Yates is survived by five daughters, Dorothy Brown, Shirley Hardin, Charlene Woodruff and Nancy Asbridge, all of Salem, Christine Wiggins of Burna; a son, William Hardin of Marion; five brothers, Hayden Hodge and Don Hodge, both of Marion; Doug Scott of Merrillville, Ind., Vernon Hodge of Ocala, Fla. and Gerald Hodge of Sterling Lights, Mich.; four sisters, Daisy Garcia and Arleen Salazar, both of Las Vegas, Nev., June Sterling of Marion, Jean Waterloo of Little Rock, Ark.; 11 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Yates was preceded in death by her husband, Guthrie Yates; and her parents, Vernon and Myrtle Hodge.
Services were held Aug. 10 at Union Baptist Church with Revs. Roger Rice and A.C. Hodge officiating. Burial was in Union Cemetery.
Durbin
Ora Lee Durbin, 87, of Sturgis passed away July 29, 1999 at the Senior Citizens' Nursing Home in Madisonville.
Durbin is survived by four daughters, Dorothy Hinton of Madisonville, Dottie Rudd of Hanson, Katherine Sutton of Marion and Caroline Denton of Tacoma, Wash.; 21 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Services were held July 31 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. John Thomas Stone officiating. Burial was in White's Chapel.
Arnold
Services for Dinzel Harold Arnold, 62, of Amarillo, Texas were held July 17, 1999 in Amarillo.
Arnold was a retired ordained General Baptist minister and was a member of Barnett General Baptist Church. He was in the restaurant business for over 37 years and founded Arnold Burgers in Amarillo in 1983.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Tinsley Arnold, formerly of Tolu; two daughters, Pam Kisselburg and Gayla Arnold, both of Amarillo; a son, Perry Arnold, of Amarillo; five grandchildren; a brother, Gilbert Arnold of Winslow, Ind.; two sisters, Geneva Hall and Paulina Grisham, both of Evansville; and many nieces and nephews.
Jones
Mima Jane Jones, 77, of Marino passed away July 24, 1999 at Crittenden Hospital.
She is survived by two daughters, Helen Head of Sheridan and Ina Morse of Salem; two sons, T.W. Orenduff of Hardin and Richard Orenduff of Marion; a brother, Harvey Walton of Iowa; two half-brothers; and three half-sisters; and eight grandchildren.
Jones was preceded in death by her husbands, Dick Orenduff and Russell Jones; and a son, Larry Orenduff.
Services were held July 26 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Revs. Roger Rice and Jimmy Porter officiating. Burial was in White's Chapel Cemetery.
Love
C.W. Love, 88, of Liphonia, Ga., formerly of Marion passed away July 25, 1999 at his home.
Love is survived by his wife, Mary Elexzena Love of Liphonia; two sons, Don Love of Liphonia and Gerald Love of St. Peters, Mo.; and four grandchildren.
Services were held July 27 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. A.C. Hodge officiating. Burial was in Union Cemetery.
Horning
Mary Clyta Brown Horning, 89, of Orlando, Fla., formerly of Marion, passed away July 21, 1999 at Ocoee Health Care in Orlando.
She was a graduate of Shady Grove High School and attended Bowling Green State Teachers' College and was a graduate of Murray State Teachers' College. She taught in Kentucky and Florida for 31 years. Horning was a member of the Orange County Retired Teacher's Association and College Park Baptist Church in Orlando.
She is survived by two daughters, Millie Peters of Louisville and Monna Perry of Orlando; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held in Florida. Burial was in Shady Grove with Rev. Franklin Hill officiating.
Crider
Ruby Terry Crider, 91, formerly of Fredonia, passed away July 14, 1999 at River's Bend Retirement Center in Kuttawa.
She was the oldest member of the First Baptist Church in Freonia.
Crider is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Max Bynum of Fredonia; a grandson, Tom Bynum of Calvert City; a great-grandson; a sister, Opal Rice of Gardena, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Ray Crider.
Graveside services were held July 16 at Fredonia Cemetery with Dr. Jerrell White officiating.
Hearell
Rudell Hearell, 77, of Salem passed away July 13, 1999 at Livingston Hospital.
He was a member of Pleasant Grove General Baptist Church and a World War II Veteran.
Hearell is survived by his wife of 55 years, Louise Hearell of Salem; a daughter, Janet Hughes of Salem; two sons, Ronnie Hearell of Salem and Danny Hearell of Sheridan; four brothers, Carl Hearell of Benton, Ollie D. Hearell, Bill Hearell and Claude Hearell, all of Marion; two granddaughters, Denise Byarley of Sheridan and Andrea Harris of Salem; a great-granddaughter, Danielle Byarley of Sheridan; and two step granddaughters, Jill Hughes and Lindsay Hughes of McLeansboro, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Eatheal Hearell.
Services were held July 16 at Boyd Funeral Chapel with Revs. Herbert Alexander and Roger Rice officiating. Burial was in Salem Cemetery.
