Funeral services for William Glenn "Hardy" Willoughby, 76, of Marion, were held Feb. 12, 2002 at Mexico Baptist Church. Rev. Rodney Groff officiated. Burial, including military graveside rites, was in Mexico Cemetery.
Willoughby passed away Feb. 9 at Crittenden County Convalescent Center.
He was a member of Mexico Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Willoughby of Marion; a son, James G. Willoughby of Dixon; two brothers, Oliver Willoughby of Jackson, Mich., and James J. Willoughby of Louisville; and one grandson.
Vasseur
Robert Vasseur, 58, of Cadiz passed away Feb. 6, 2002 at his home.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
He was a member of South Land Baptist Temple in Paducah and a farmer.
Surviving are two brothers, David Vasseur of Smithland and Frank Vasseur of Marion; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Billy Vasseur, Charlie Vasseur and Ray Vasseur; four sisters, Ruth Ann Vasseur, Barbara Nell Vasseur, Ruth Farley and Susie Cross; and his parents, Napoleon Vasseur and Mildred Rickman Vasseur Ford.
Kirk
W.A. Kirk, 85, of Salem, passed away Feb. 5, 2002 at Salem Springlake Care Center.
Surviving are a sister, Kathryn Stone of Tucson, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Perleen Kirk; two sisters; a brother; and his parents, Allen Kirk and Fannie Fuller Kirk.
Funeral services were held Feb. 8 at Boyd Funeral Home with Bro. Roger Rice officiating. Burial was in Salem Cemetery.
Doom
James Doom, Jr., 30, of Marion, passed away Feb. 1, 2002 at his home.
He was a former employee of LWD in Calvert City, and a member of Seven Springs Baptist Church and Dycusburg Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Doom of Marion; two sons, Alex and Austin Doom, at home; his mother, Wanda Doom of Marion; his father, James Doom, Sr., of Marion; a brother, Russell A. Doom of Marion; a sister, Pamela R. Walker of Grand Rivers; his stepmother, Mary Louise Doom of Marion; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Okie Cole and Frank Cole of Marion; six stepbrothers and stepsisters; and his grandmother, Ruby Blake of Marion.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Rayburn and Lossie Mae Doom, and grandfather, Oman Blake.
Funeral services were held Feb. 5 at Seven Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Donnie Howton, Rev. Kenny Bowman, Rev. Robert Blake and Rev. Lonnie Knight officiating. Burial was in Frances Cemetery.
Clark
Dorothy Woodall Clark, 82, of Marion, passed away Feb. 3, 2002 at Salem Springlake Care Center. She was a member of Marion Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Marion Woman's Club and Crittenden Hospital Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband, J. Carlton Clark of Marion; three daughters, Jeanne Lynn of Marion, Sharon Miles of Hendersonville, Tenn., and Jayne Hill of Madison, Tenn.; two brothers, Allen Woodall of Mexico and Curtis Woodall of West Palm Beach, Fla.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Feb. 6 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Ferguson, Rev. Joseph M. Jones and Rev. Cortis Hill officiating. Burial was in Mexico Cemetery.

Maxfield
Longtime Cadiz businessman, civic leader and funeral director Chastine Vance Maxfield, 75, passed away Feb. 4, 2002 at his home following an extended illness.
Services will be at 11 a.m., Feb. 7 at Goodwin Funeral Home, with Revs. Phillip Salmon and Andy Buckingham officiating. Burial will follow in East End Cemetery. M. Thomas Davis will deliver a eulogy.
Maxfield was born in Crittenden County on March 7, 1926 the son of Isaac Newton and Ina Ialeen Adams Maxfield.
Maxfield began his career in 1951 with Goodwin Funeral Home in Cadiz and remained there 41 years, retiring in 1992 and selling the business to John R. Vinson, III.
He was a graduate of John A. Gupton School of Mortuary Science.
A corporal in the U. S. Marine Corps during World War II, he fought in the battle of Iwo Jima and the Occupation of China. He was a member of Cadiz Baptist Church and extended a hand of warmth to churches throughout Trigg County.
"Chat," as he was known to his friends, was a charter member of the Rotary Club and also the Cadiz Civitan Club where he had served as President. He was a 50-year member and former commander of American Legion Post No. 74 and was service officer for 28 years. He was a charter member of Veteran's of Foreign War Post No. 7890, holding lifetime membership.
A former member of Cadiz-Trigg County Chamber of Commerce, he served as board member, and was honored in 1991 as Citizen of the Year. He served on the Library Board of Directors, Trigg County Draft Board and the Cadiz Federal Public Housing Commission. In the 1960s, he served as chairman of the Trigg County March of Dimes, prior to the development of the Salk Vaccine. He was a member and past Master of Cadiz Masonic Lodge No. 121, F. & A. M., member of Ophelia Chapter No. 55, Order of the Eastern Star, Rizpah Temple, Swigert Chapter No. 40, R.A.M., Cadiz Shrine Club, Scottish Rite and 32 Degree Mason.
In 1973, he received the Conservation Award for Outstanding Accomplishments in Conservation from the Crittenden County Conservation District.
He was a member of the Kentucky Funeral Directors Association, Western Kentucky District Funeral Directors Association and the National Funeral Directors Association.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Martha Doom Maxfield of Cadiz; and a daughter, Judith C. Maxfield Bilyeu of Nashville.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Eugene "Jack" Newton and Louis Vernon Maxfield.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Cadiz Baptist Church or the American Lung Association.
Rushing
Funeral services for Katherine M. Rushing, 66, of Marion, were held Jan. 24 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Rodney Groff officiating. Burial was in Mexico Cemetery.
Rushing, a member of Mexico Baptist Church, passed away Jan. 22, 2002 at Salem Springlake Care Center.
Surviving are a sister, Elizabeth Sharp of Salem; two granddaughters; three great-grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.
Rushing was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Rushing; and a son, Robert Rushing.
