Kentucky Marriage Records by County

Leslie
Jean Horning Leslie, 77, of Marion, passed away May 4, 2003 at her home. She was a member of Marion Baptist Church.
Surviving are three sons, Larry Leslie of Tampa, Fla., Dale Leslie of Marion and Glen Leslie of Chicago, Ill.; a daughter, Lynette Van Baber of Newport Ritchie, Fla.; a sister, Willa Belle Arflack of Marion; and one granddaughter.
Funeral services were held May 7 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Darrell Clarke officiating. Burial was in Crooked Creek Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Marion Baptist Church, 131 E. Depot Street, Marion, KY 42064.

Ferrell
SALEM, Ky. -­ Jimmy Ferrell, 67, passed away May 13, 2003 at his home. He attended Hopewell Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday (today) at Boyd Funeral Home with Rev. David LeNeave and Rev. Robert Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Lola Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Brown Ferrell of Salem; a son, Brent Ferrell of Salem; a daughter, Kimberly Ann Belcher of Paducah; a brother, Sonny Ferrell of Salem; two sisters, Linda Woodward and Helen Stalions, both of Salem; and a granddaughter.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hopewell Cumberland Presbyterian Church Building Fund, c/o Jane Slayden, 768 Lola Road, Salem, KY 42078.

McConnell
Hayden McConnell, 65, of Marion, passed away May 7, 2003 at St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville.
Arrangements were incomplete at Gilbert Funeral Home Wednesday morning.
He served as a Crittenden County magistrate for five years in the mid-1990s. He was elected to a four-year term last fall to serve in District 1, which includes the Mattoon community.
McConnell is survived by his wife, Helen; and several children.

Flanary
CHICAGO, Ill. ­- Wilson Oral Flanary, formerly of Marion, passed away April 25, 2003 at the age of 103. He was the last known WW I veteran from Crittenden County. He was the son of Margaret Daughtrey and Carl Flanary, both of Crittenden County.
Preceding him in death was his wife Virginia Easley, formerly of Marion.
He is survived by two daughters, Doris Ann Wilson and Norma Jean Shultz, both of the Chicago area, six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
After leaving the Army, Flanary became account supervisor for U.S. Steel of Chicago for almost 40 years, then worked in his son-in-law's firm for 20 years.
Services were April 30, officiated by his sister-in-law Sister Lucy Tedrick. His burial was at Cedar Park Cemetery in Blue Island, Ill.

Travis
Donald "Buck" Travis, 66, of Marion, passed away May 1, 2003 at Salem Springlake Care Center. He was a member of Marion United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Etoy Travis of Marion; two daughters, Wendy Winders of Marion and Angela Griffey of Indianapolis; his mother, Opal Travis of Marion; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dallas Travis.
Funeral services were held May 3 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Dan Lovell and Rev. Robert Phillips officiating. Burial was in Mapleview Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society, c/o 130 E. Mound Park, Marion, KY 42064.

Humphrey
PRINCETON, Ky. -­ Dale Humphrey, 47, passed away May 1, 2003 at her home. Funeral services were held May 4 at Morgan's Funeral Home in Princeton with Rev. Kermit Berry and Rev. Gordon Holland officiating. Burial was in New Bethel Cemetery in Lyon County.
Humphrey attended Union Grove General Baptist Church in Caldwell County and was employed as a quality control inspector at DDP in Kuttawa.
Surviving are two daughters, Kelley Hogan of Caldwell County and Renae Humphrey of Princeton; a brother, Marvin Brinkley of Lyon County; a sister, Margaret Todd of Crittenden County; her foster father, James Francis Kaestner; four foster brothers, John Kaestner, Jimmy Kaestner and Joel Kaestner, all of Illinois; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Buntley and Charlene Lewis Brinkley; and her foster mother, Helen Marie Kaestner.

McDaniel
SALEM, Ky. ­- William "Tommy" McDaniel, 79, passed away May 2, 2003 at Salem Springlake Care Center. He was a member of the Evansville Eagles Club and was a retired machinist for Whirlpool in Evansville.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine McDaniel of Salem; a sister, Lois Fiola of Sarasota, Fla.; and a brother, Carter McDaniel of Cleveland, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Allie McDaniel.
Funeral services were held May 6 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Porter officiating. Burial was in Whites Chapel Cemetery.

Small
Madileen Small, 98, of Marion, passed away May 3, 2003 at Crittenden Hospital.
She graduated from Marion High School and later the University of Kentucky with an AB Degree. She taught school in Kentucky and entered federal service in 1934 in the Naval Ordinance System Command Department. She retired in 1966 after more than 32 years in federal service. She was a member of First United Presbyterian Church in Marion.
Surviving are five nephews, Wayne Lowery of Spokane, Wash., John Nacey, Jr., of Folcroft, Penn., Donald S. Lowery of Fallbrook, Calif., Richard Small of Marion and Ronald Rodeman of Albuquerque, N.M.; three nieces, Patsy Thiesson of Osprey, Fla., Mary Sue Habacker of Lancaster, Penn., and Donna Lee Nesbitt of Albuquerque.
She wa preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services were held May 5 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Phillip Falk and Rev. Darrell Clarke officiating. Burial was in Mapleview Cemetery.

Tinsley
FREDONIA, Ky. -­ Funeral services for John N. Tinsley, 69, were held May 5 at Dunn's Funeral Home in Eddyville with Father Maurice Tiell officiating. Burial followed in Fredonia Cemetery.
Tinsley passed away May 2, 2003 at Riversbend Retirement Community in Kuttawa.
He was a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church in Eddyville and the American Legion. He was a U.S. Army Veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Allen Tinsley of Fredonia; a son, Kevin Tinsley of West Chester, Ohio; a daughter, Dara L. Tinsley of Chicago Heights, Ill.; his mother, Aileen Parrent Tinsley of Fredonia; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Preston Tinsley.

Bennett
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -­ Charles Eugene Bennett, 68, passed away April 21, 2003 at his home. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and was a meat market manager at Kinlaw Super Market before retiring.
Funeral services were held April 24 at Hamilton-Porter Funeral Home in Hope Mills by Tommy Kinlaw. Burial was in Cumberland Memorial Gardens.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth L. Bennett of Fayetteville; three sons, David L. Melvin, at home, Johnny L. Melvin of Fayetteville and Russell K. Cranson of Toccoa, Ga.; a brother, Jesse W. Bennett of Calvert City; a sister, Myrna L. Eastwood of Morganfield; and five grandchildren.

Thurman
Raymond Thurman, 90, of Marion, passed away May 5, 2003 at Crittenden County Convalescent Center. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, was a retired minister of 68 years and a retired teacher after 20 years of service. He was a graduate of Murray State University and attended Campbellsville College and Southern Seminary.
Survivors include two sons, Rev. Jerry Thurman and Jim Thurman, both of Marion; a sister, Rowena Campbell of Marion; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Margaret Thurman and a great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held May 7 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Greenfield and Rev. Wayne Carter officiating. Burial was in Mapleview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Grace Thurman Scholarship Fund at Belmont University, 1900 Belmont Blvd., Nashville, Tenn., 37212 or Gideons International, P.O. Box 304, Salem, KY 42078.
